My first experience here... was very busy, people standing/sitting waiting for a table. Loud & crazy actually. We were able to snag a couple stools at the counter after a short wait. Our server wasn't exactly friendly, but we did get waited on in a timely manner. The entire atmosphere didnt feel clean...but that's kinda typical of a "greasy spoon" diner. The only Waffle House I have ever visited in this area is the one next to Flora-Bama. So it just so happened I found myself being a daywalker and in need of a quick meal. So as you might guess this Waffle House location in Foley was pretty much the exact same food as all the other Waffle Houses but it was nowhere nearly as entertaining as the Waffle House next to Flora-Bama but it was actually a bit faster for my food to come out. Walked in and only seat was at counter right where they wash dishes. After I ordered a booth opened up. I asked if I could move to the booth and the manager rolled her eyes and got an attitude and says "I wish I had known dat when you ordered." I told her the booth wasn't empty when I walked in. THE BEST WAFFLE HOUSE!! I have never been in a better Waffle House truly! My boyfriend and I arrived at about 6am and the place was super clean, our food arrived less than 10 minutes after we ordered and everything we could possibly need was brought to us without having to ask!! Our food was absolutely delicious and everything was just like we asked. I wish I got our servers name but she needs a RAISE, we had more drink in our cups before we had to ask and she made sure everything was absolutely perfect for us! I have been in quite a few waffle houses to say the least and this was truly a one of a kind experience (usually my one of a kind experience at Waffle House end with someone jumping the counter)! I love Waffle House! Especially the one in Foley. Today I was writing up a bunch of notes and stayed a little longer than I probably should have. Once I saw people waiting I took the hint. But Bo was an awesome server! Super friendly, kept the coffee flowing, and seemed to be running the show early in the morning! Corrin is super sweet too. We talked about oat milk and health foods, and she gave me an awesome tip on a health food place I'd never been to in the area! Can't remember what the Manager in Training's name was, but he was super helpful too. Told him about a personal experience of mine, and he offered some serious validation and advice!!! I've also heard Waffle House will let you put some of your paycheck away into a sort of 401k via stock options in the company. If that's true, that is rad!!!!! Service was good. Eggs were cooked right . Waffle was not cooked I ordered a 6 minute Pecan Waffle. They did not let it Bake. They opened the iron and squashed it and it made it Flat and gummy. I wish they would learn that a Waffle Iron is a BAKER, designed to cook and let the waffle rise to a good flavor. read more

Went for breakfast this morning. They did not have a pot of Decaf Coffee made. The waitress did she would have to make some which was fine. Then she asked if we were ready to order and I said no, not until I got my coffee. She did not like that answer and walked off! The manager came over and asked what was wrong and I said I don't want to be done with my breakfast before I had coffee, end of story. She immediately made a pot and brought a cup over and then took our order. That other waitress was too busy drinking her coffee and chatting with everyone. I hate pre-tipping on a pickup order. I paid $15.00 in tips to a person to put together a to go order that was $55.00 just for it to be totally wrong. What do you do? We come here often and we always see the guy who is supposed to greet us at the door. I'm really curious of his job description. I mean he just stands there and says welcome to Waffle House. Well lets start with the food and the presentation. I know your saying presentation @Waffle House are you lost or just a weird commentator? Probably both but I was surprised when I had my meal delivered the plate had been neatly setup, garnished and attention to detail had been taken so I thought it was a fluke but looking around every plate was getting the same attention from the two cooks on the line. Food was seasoned well and service was excellent. So you may be asking why only 3stars? Basically it needs a good deep cleaning of the building and some renovations that aren't done from normal cleaning because the food area and counters were clean its just run down from use and needs some love. Bottom line if you want some good food and good service stop in and tell them "Phat Panda- 1/2Time" sent ya. It won't get you any food but at least it will let them know that people are reviewing their facility. read more

We stopped in to one of local Waffle House locations today for breakfast. We haven't been to a Waffle House in quite some time but I was getting hangry and circumstances landed us here. It isn't my favorite place for breakfast but it's quick, reasonable and hey it's breakfast. My favorite menu item is all about the hash browns. (more on that later) We both had the basic breakfasts of 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, with hash browns and toast, it was quick and good. They do serve other meats like country ham, steak, chickenbl and pork chops, and of course waffles as well as other non- breakfast items like burgers, patty melts, chicken sandwiches, etc. but this is a breakfast place for me. If you haven't been to a Waffle House, well you should try one. That's all I got, but I couldn't just leave a short review without giving some of their history and share a few tidbits about this roadside phenom. Waffle House was founded by a couple Georgia neighbors. Joe Rogers was working for Toddle House, a national restaurant chain, and Tom Forkner was in real estate when the neighbors decided to start a business together. The star is for the food. I have been eating Waffle House for decades. This is the first time the whole staff was gone literally the entire time we were eating. Not one check up. Cold coffee. Empty water cup. First time in several years I have stiffed the server. I used to serve so I know how important the tips are but also it takes service (even if it was bad at least existent) to get reciprocation. I have been so patient with this waffle house. I realize there is a shortage of workers everywhere. I get it. This one seems to have a full staff today when we ordered a to go order. I don't know where the disconnect is with this place but it's bad. Both waffle houses in Foley are horrible. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese grits bowl but with egg whites only. In the pic you will see what I got. No sausage at all!! And it was not egg whites. I ordered a side of toast. It tasted charred. I even scraped off some of the burnt before taking the pics! Neither were edible! I can't have the yolk so that was a waste of 10.00! I asked for coffee with a TON of cream and 2 sugars. I said twice a TON of cream please. I got home to open the bag which contained not even ONE cream and no sugar. The waffle was so burnt on both sides and my husband was so ticked off he just threw it in the yard! It's ridiculous. I realize I guess I should have eaten there or opened my bag and gone through every dang item but gees I would like to think they would get it half A right! But nope we paid for breakfast and got nothing! Oh... I also ordered a double hashbrowns and another pecan waffle. It was not included at all.... I'm done... this was try 3 here. We stopped here on the way to Gulf Shores. The hostess greeted us and told us where available seating was located. The waitress quickly greeted us and took our order. I had a scrambled egg sandwich on Texas toast with cheese. It was cooked perfectly. The waitress kept my drink filled. My wife & I were craving a good breakfast & the decision came down between this Waffle House on McKenzie Blvd in Foley & the Diner In Gulf Shores. The Waffle House got the nod & from the parking lot, I thought...their busy, so this place must be good. WRONG. Should have gone to the Diner. The food was ok if you could get past the filth. Honestly, seeing how nasty the grill, waffle griddles, & bathrooms were, about ruined our appetites. Service was just ok & I tipped the waitress with a "better than deserved" tip & left. I've never had a bad experience until I went into 2 locations in Orange Beach/ Foley area. This was my absolute first time allowing myself to eat at an Waffle House due to all the negativity surrounding the Waffle House brand. But I must say the customer service was outstanding and this particular Waffle House was very clean and the employees were very professional. My son and I ordered the Waffle and Sausage patties, coffee and orange juice. Felt great vibes, good coffee and great waffles. Will be stopping back again at this Waffle House soon. read more
