Such a fun place that is like no other. We went on a Friday night and had an hour wait for a party of three. The wait time went by quickly with browsing the gift shop, grabbing a drink at the bar and people watching. We had Lisa as a server who was fantastic. We ate here yesterday. Wonderful experience for the whole family. Our waiter Zach was great. He was bartender and waiting. The margaritas were just ok (the first one I got did have a hair in it- that they immediately replaced). All of our food was delicious! I got the shrimp bowl and ate every bite. The WOW sauce!! WOW! The kids ate great too! Nachos were amazing. But even with the food- the environment was so fun! The kids had the best time playing in the sand. The arcade and gift shop are great. We had friends recommend Lulus so we thought we'd give it a try. It's a really large and popular place. Even with how big it is we waited 1-1/2 hours to get seated (we were told 45 mins). But they have it down with an arcade to keep the kids busy (and parents / grandparents spending more $!). Also several bars and live music to keep adults busy!! To be honest, given the size and number of people they serve, I wasn't expecting the food to be as good as it was. I had the combo blackened lulus fish and fried shrimp. Both were delicious. We had a great experience at Lulu's Gulf Shores. We dined on a Saturday night and were told a twenty minute wait. We waited a little less than that. We had a table with a great water view. Service was a little slow, but they were packed. Our server was so kind and delightful. I had a bushwhacker as my first drink and it was delicious. We started with queso and salsa and both were good. For my main I had the catch of the day blackened. I can't remember what type of fish it was, but it was light and flaky. Zero fishiness. The hush puppies that came with were also delicious. I asked my server to surprise me with my second drink and she brought be a frozen peach drink that was spectacular. We had a great experience at Lulu's. It was really helpful that there's a lot to do while you wait for a table. They also have free ice water available in the waiting area and we found this extremely helpful. As great as we remember! Open air and breezy! So easy going! Everyone is so kind! This is the first time that I ever tried the Key West bowl! So good! Half portion was just the right size for me. One thing I did not realize was that the turnip greens had pork/ bacon in it. Just a reference for those who cannot eat pork. I personally can't, I just didn't think to ask. I just didn't eat that part. No worries! We also had a person on our party with a gluten allergy and they were super accommodating for her! My major question is why? Wait 1 hour plus, for overpriced and at best low-quality cafeteria food. Good luck in finding anything on the menu not fried. Did I mention it's loud, and you can't carry on a conversation at your table. But, not to worry there are multiple souvenirs shops and activities available on premises to help you lighten your wallet if the meal and drink prices aren't enough. I really hated that I have to give this review to a family favorite since about 2012, but it must be done. The prices for the meals here are ridiculous. My pictures show their bacon Pawmenna cheeseburger meal for $22. I cut it in half because I was sharing it with someone. The bacon was just gross!! It was barely cooked and 2/3 fat. It came off the burger immediately--not eating that. They skimped on everything: pimento cheese and fries were totally inadequate for the price of $22. Is paying about $8 more per meal worth it just for the atmosphere? Only you can decide, but we have decided it's not! Boats go by in the canal and kids got to see some dolphins swim in the mouth of the marina. Just be aware this is an open air restaurant so you may be hot! But the sand pit for the kids makes up for the lack of AC and helps make the wait seem not as long for the food! We visited LuLu's in Gulf Shores on June 25th after a stormy night and morning. My daughter had 3 braids put in and the young ladies were lovely and accommodating to my 7 year old. My 10 year old son did the ropes course and crushed it! (My daughter was about an inch too short ) They selected Lulus hat and sweatshirt in the souvenir shop. Everything running like clockwork. We went to the restaurant to eat. Seating was limited and we tried the bar with no luck. As we were leaving - your very kind hostess asked if we couldn't find seats. She was so patient and genuinely interested in why we left so quickly. I explained that I understand bar space is tight - and probably not very "exciting" with 2 kids present. She asked what we planned to order - 1.5 lbs of shrimp and the black eyed peas. While constantly seating people. Patiently dealing with many impatient people - Tammy went out of her way to accommodate our request. Your wonderful manager that day - brought the order out herself and gave me a few tips to try and make the "caviar" back home here in Illinois. My kids had a wonderful time - and we all got to enjoy the delicious food back at our Air B n B Shout out to Tammy!
