This is exactly what I was looking for. I like a nice local breakfast spot where the people serving the food know the locals who eat there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's just a nice casual place to grab some coffee, eggs, and meat for breakfast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nothing fancy here. Self-serve coffee station, and your order at the counter. They do bring the food to your table, though.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Awesome small mom & pop type diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good size servings & good pricing! The biscuits were amazing! Also the fried egg & bologna was great!

November marked six months since this local  family owned and operated restaurant opened in a former garage that's been transformed into a clean, warm and welcoming spot that's fast becoming a popular place for locals and visitors. Mae-Maes Joint in Foley serves fresh made to order breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and more. It's located at on the SE corner of County Roads 65 & 12 at 8690 Co Rd 65 and is open from 6am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday & Monday with breakfast available until 2PM.  I have been there on multiple occasions and have tried quite a few of their menu items as well as brought a number of friends and neighbors and everyone has enjoyed their experience. The only thing that heard, other than praise, from any of them was their eggs weren't fluffy enough. I guess I'm not the only foodie critic but I don't get scrambled eggs so there's that. :-)  What I have gotten is fried eggs, egg biscuits, breakfast platers, biscuits & gravy, French toast,  BLT's, all the meats and cake of the day and everything I've had has been hot, fresh and tasty. They give you generous portions at a very reasonable prices and always with a smile. The  coffee is also good, and I'm picky about my coffee, and there's juice and other drinks available, including sweet tea. Just order and pay at the counter and they'll bring your order out to your table fresh and hot.  I'm not a categorizing the food here typical "home cooking" or "gourmet" but I will call it "comfort food". I know that's kinda personal, granted, because the nostalgia about food, in general, is mostly specific to an individual, or to a specific culture. But as someone who enjoys everything from home cooking to gourmet, and loves cuisine from around the planet, I always leave Mae Mae's pleasantly filled and comforted, so yeah comfort food. :-)  Mae Maes Joint also has a Facebook page where you can connect with them and see their latest updates and posts of daily specials too.  https://www.facebook.com/maemaesjoint/ Coming in 2024 their adding a fry room with lots of new menu offerings including seafood, chicken, fries, okra, and a whole lot more. Don't forget to give them a LIKE on Facebook to keep up with daily specials and news.  On a personal note, It was sad day when a local iconic restaurant, Biscuit King, shuttered its doors in July and, for me, their huge cathead biscuits were fantastic. But alas, the scratch made buttermilk biscuits here are some of the best I've had and are fit for a King. If that wasn't enough to make me a fan their sausage gravy is excellent and makes for the best biscuits and gravy around, so I'm a super fan :-)  Bottom line: If you are looking for a cozy and delicious breakfast and lunch place with good food, service and friendly folks in Foley, check  out Mae-Maes Joint. Highly recommended!! https://www.facebook.com/maemaesjoint/

The previous original restaurant here at the zoo Safari Club closed and chef, John Davis, from the retired and closed iconic restaurant, Sunset Cork Room, brought some excellent culinary experiences here. Unfortunately, they just closed their doors and the future of this unique venue is uncertain. They posted a heartfelt thank you to patrons and I'm gonna be on the lookout for the chefs and if they will pop up somewhere in the future, they did a great job and thank you all for sharing your expertise and great food!

I brought other family members who joined me from Pittsburgh and were also satisfied with their complete dining experience from service to entrees. My group's favorite this day was their French onion soup, as 8 other people with us all ordered that & discussed it, recommending it to myself & others within my group. My order was their burger & fries. Their burgers are served flaming hot with char-grilled flavor, juicy, having a moist bun seasoned with perfection & featuring fries prepared hot, crisp, & moist. The appetizers were delicious (seafood stuffed mushrooms and fried pickles), and the entrees were gigantic. What made the trip a 10/10 for us is the management. I had a medical episode and the manager, our waitress, and the owner of the restaurant sat with my family and me until the ambulance arrived. Not only did the owner refuse our money and paid for our entire meal, he also made sure our waitress was tipped as well. Fantastic place to eat, and the owner is an angel. We will be back every single time we come down to our home away from home.

Those will be a requirement for every future visit. Have had fried, grilled, and baked seafood there, all excellent. The only disappointing item I've ever had there was the Chocolate Raspberry Crème Brûlée. That dish was a total disappointment. Tin Top is our "Go To" restaurant on the coast, we always look forward to going there. Great value for the price, Not price gouging like some places that serve everything fried at a premium price, while living off name recognition of the restaurant. ATMOSPHERE Nothing too special about the atmosphere here. I just love that. It was nice clean open area with large windows and plenty of seating and easy to get around. The bar area look cool and the layout was nice. FOOD this is why you came here, right! All kinds of fish cooked all kinds of different ways. Delicious gumbo. Love that pimento cheese ball appetizer with that blueberry pepper jelly! For lunch, I had the meat and three. It was all good, especially the collard greens. SERVICE THIS WAS MAYBE SOME OF THE BEST SERVICE I HAD THE WHOLE TIME I WAS IN ORANGE BEACH THIS WEEKEND. OUR SERVER WAS SO AMAZING. I HATE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME, BUT SHE WAS ON TOP OF IT AND SUPER DELIGHTFUL. DRINKS The bar area looked really nice. Most of my table had iced tea which everybody enjoyed. I also got a beer from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was very impressed by their beer selection and they are a verified venue on the Untappd app so you can go to that app to look at all the beer selection and even filter and sort the beers so that you can have an easier time selecting the proper beverage. It even came out in a glass that matched the beer that I had! I like that extra touch.

They had a meat and three sides which is a southern thing. I chose the fresh catch. with side salad, boiled red potatoes, and greens. I had asked the server for the salad first. But it was brought with the meal. The salad was fresh and crisp, with a surprise of a small Peppa dew pepper. Blazing red with a little heat and delicious. Haven't seen them in a restaurant ever. Unfortunately my fish and potatoes were cold, cold and butter congealed. The greens were warm and good I had also ordered the cornbread. It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Maybe when I return things will be better.
