Filth that was there from the time we walked in to the time we left. Not busy either.

Really wish I could give this place no stars. The place is absolutely filthy. Staff couldnt care less about it. When mentioned to servers they shrugged. Husbands food order was incorrect. My waffle was burnt. Couldn't even enjoy what did come out correct due to everything else. Would not return or recommend.

No wait & it's about time to hit a Waffle House anyway :-)

We stopped in to one of local Waffle House locations today for breakfast. We haven't been to a Waffle House in quite some time but I was getting hangry and circumstances landed us here. It isn't my favorite place for breakfast but it's quick, reasonable and hey it's breakfast. My favorite menu item is all about the hash browns. (more on that later) We both had the basic breakfasts of 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, with hash browns and toast, it was quick and good. They do serve other meats like country ham, steak, chickenbl and pork chops, and of course waffles as well as other non- breakfast items like burgers, patty melts, chicken sandwiches, etc. but this is a breakfast place for me. If you haven't been to a Waffle House, well you should try one. That's all I got, but I couldn't just leave a short review without giving some of their history and share a few tidbits about this roadside phenom. Waffle House was founded by a couple Georgia neighbors. Joe Rogers was working for Toddle House, a national restaurant chain, and Tom Forkner was in real estate when the neighbors decided to start a business together. Rogers and Forkner opened up the first Waffle House on Labor Day, 1955. Today, there's more than 2,100 locations in 25 states, mostly in the south abd the highest concentration in GA. Tom Forkener and Joe Rogers both passed away within one month of each other. Rogers died first in March 2017 at the age of 97, Forkner followed in April at the age of 98. For a breakdown by states here's where to find them. Alabama - 154, Arizona - 15, Arkansas - 44, Colorado - 10, Delaware - 3, Florida - 173, Georgia - 439, Illinois - 2, Indiana - 23, Kansas - 4, Kentucky - 63, Louisiana - 94, Maryland - 12, Mississippi - 88, Missouri - 40, New Mexico - 2, North Carolina - 182, Ohio - 77, Oklahoma - 16, Pennsylvania - 11, South Carolina - 169, Tennessee - 130, Texas - 117, Virginia - 63 and in West Virginia - 6. Did you know that Waffle Houses are fully prepared to operate on no power and limited supplies, and are open 24/7, even during natural disasters. That's why FEMA uses "The Waffle House  Index" to measure how hard a natural disaster has hit a town. According to the index, Code Green means Waffle House is open and serving a full menu, Code Yellow means Waffle House is serving a limited menu, supplies may be low, and power may be off, and Code Red means Waffle House is closed and the area needs immediate assistance. Here's some more interesting facts about them that you may not know: * Over the years, Waffle House chefs developed different styles of hashbrowns with unique names for each. Next time you order hashbrowns there, you can ask for 'by name: Smothered - Sauteed onions, Covered, - Melted cheese, Chunked - Hickory smoked ham, Diced - Grilled tomatoes, Peppered - Jalapeno peppers, Capped - Grilled mushrooms, Topped - Bert's Chili and Country - Sausage gravy. * Every year, Waffle House sizzles up 25,000 miles of bacon strips. That's enough bacon to wrap around the world! * Sausage, oh yeah If you were to stack all the sausage patties Waffle House serves daily on top of each other, the tower would be four times the height of the Empire State Building. * Decades ago, in the 60's, S. Truett Cathy, the owner of a local diner called the Dwarf House, contracted with Waffle House to sell his proprietary chicken sandwich, the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. The sandwiches became so popular, however, that Waffle House eventually terminated its contract with Chick-fil-A. * Thanks to the fact that another chain of restaurants owned the rights to the name "Waffle House" in Indiana before WaHo began opening franchises there during the 1970s, Waffle House was known as "Waffle & Steak" in the Hoosier State for many years. But in 2005, Indiana's Waffle & Steak restaurants were finally able to switch over to the Waffle House name. * For over a decade, select Waffle House locations have offered waffle lovers a romantic dining experience on Valentine's Day complete with white tablecloths, rose petals and candles (plus smothered hashbrowns :-) Reservations are required. Finally, as far as facts about this iconic institution goes, this one is pretty cool. The very first Waffle House has been transformed into a museum and restored to look exactly as it did when the restaurant served its first side of hashbrowns in 1955. Waffle House memorabilia from the past six decades is also on display. Call ahead to book a tour, you get to make your own waffle at the end of the visit! Bottom line: Today's location could use a good cleaning, but other than that it's pretty much what I've come to expect from a Waffle House.

    Empty Area

The star is for the food. I have been eating Waffle House for decades. This is the first time the whole staff was gone literally the entire time we were eating. Not one check up. Cold coffee. Empty water cup. First time in several years I have stiffed the server. I used to serve so I know how important the tips are but also it takes service (even if it was bad at least existent) to get reciprocation. This is a picture at the end of our meal trying to check out but it was that staff empty the whole time. This was during dinner time (5-6pm)

Servers and cooks wearing masks and working hard.

This waffle is really up to their game compared to the others in my home state(ky). I got my food fast, it was hot, it was pretty good, and our waitress was nice! Everyone wore their mask correctly and we were seated as soon as we entered. I recommend this location.

Havent been to a waffle house since high school..and that is a long time ago..it was actually pretty good ..I had an egg, bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich on texas toast ,hash browns and added a waffle for me and the hubs to split..it was so busy in there and the service was great and friendly..I would go again for a breakfast...and the price is right ,not an arm and leg like lots of places charge for simple egg breakfast..

Supposed to be sausage, cheese and egg white grits bowl. Not what we got!

I have been so patient with this waffle house. I realize there is a shortage of workers everywhere. I get it. This one seems to have a full staff today when we ordered a to go order. I don't know where the disconnect is with this place but it's bad. Both waffle houses in Foley are horrible. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese grits bowl but with egg whites only. In the pic you will see what I got. No sausage at all!! And it was not egg whites. I ordered a side of toast. It tasted charred. I even scraped off some of the burnt before taking the pics! Neither were edible! I can't have the yolk so that was a waste of 10.00! I asked for coffee with a TON of cream and 2 sugars. I said twice a TON of cream please. I got home to open the bag which contained not even ONE cream and no sugar. The waffle was so burnt on both sides and my husband was so ticked off he just threw it in the yard! It's ridiculous. I realize I guess I should have eaten there or opened my bag and gone through every dang item but gees I would like to think they would get it half A right! But nope we paid for breakfast and got nothing! Oh... I also ordered a double hashbrowns and another pecan waffle. It was not included at all.... I'm done... this was try 3 here. Do not waste your money. Gas station food would be better and and at least you could pick it out yourself!

The previous original restaurant here at the zoo Safari Club closed and chef, John Davis, from the retired and closed iconic restaurant, Sunset Cork Room, brought some excellent culinary experiences here. The appetizers were delicious (seafood stuffed mushrooms and fried pickles), and the entrees were gigantic. What made the trip a 10/10 for us is the management. I had a medical episode and the manager, our waitress, and the owner of the restaurant sat with my family and me until the ambulance arrived. Not only did the owner refuse our money and paid for our entire meal, he also made sure our waitress was tipped as well. Fantastic place to eat, and the owner is an angel. ATMOSPHERE Nothing too special about the atmosphere here. I just love that. It was nice clean open area with large windows and plenty of seating and easy to get around. The bar area look cool and the layout was nice. FOOD this is why you came here, right! All kinds of fish cooked all kinds of different ways. Delicious gumbo. Love that pimento cheese ball appetizer with that blueberry pepper jelly! For lunch, I had the meat and three. It was all good, especially the collard greens. SERVICE THIS WAS MAYBE SOME OF THE BEST SERVICE I HAD THE WHOLE TIME I WAS IN ORANGE BEACH THIS WEEKEND. OUR SERVER WAS SO AMAZING. I HATE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME, BUT SHE WAS ON TOP OF IT AND SUPER DELIGHTFUL. DRINKS The bar area looked really nice. Most of my table had iced tea which everybody enjoyed. I also got a beer from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was very impressed by their beer selection and they are a verified venue on the Untappd app so you can go to that app to look at all the beer selection and even filter and sort the beers so that you can have an easier time selecting the proper beverage. It even came out in a glass that matched the beer that I had! I like that extra touch.

It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Maybe when I return things will be better.
