A nice surprising very fluffy waffle very tasty
    Kevin D.

#12/2022 The waffle House truck stop Road by Kenly North Carolina off interstate 95. Pretty much like most all other waffle houses so there's no need for a long long review here but I will say this is one of the older ones that has not been remodeled. The dining area is fairly small some of the tables were cordoned off for social distancing again. Breakfast crowds are very slammed people come walking from the truck stop that don't want iron Skillet across the way and the motels behind. I came in I was greeted I sat down ordered some coffee looked at the menu got one of my usuals waffle with sausage patties and double hash browns in the ring. Waitress brought my coffee I looked around I noticed this is a little dirty or store the floors don't look like they were swept as good as some other waffle houses and the tables weren't quite fully wiped down behind the condiments. Here's why it's still getting four stars the quality of the food was fantastic at this one they've got Great Cooks. My hash browns were perfect my sausage was done just like I wanted a little bit of brown to them and the waffle was excellent. a little extra spoon of batter into the waffle maker because I noticed mine was very fluffy usually they're kind of flat but it was very tasty put on the sugar-free syrup and it was great. So therefore a decent waffle House quality the food very good I've been the worst but I am giving the benefit of the extra star.

    Typical Waffle House.

Occasionally, take-out orders aren't always up to par for minor reasons such as forgetting butter & syrup for waffles or not including a drink that's been factored into the price when phoned in.

Unfortunately…read morethat's a green flag for me as it translates into all the effort being placed into the food rather than aesthetics After pestering my SO for nearly 2 years to try this spot, we finally did on 7/5/2025 and great gobs of goose shat if it wasn't one of the best burgers I have eaten in years. If you're someone who wants ambiance and decor, this isn't it. Do you want food made with love? This is your spot. Being 1st time callers and long time listeners, played it safe by ordering a burger. My thoughts are, if a burger isn't done well nothing else would be. Their dressed cheeseburgers have chili and onions on them. Want your's differently? I am certain you will be accommodated. Ours were delicious, clearly hand made and the fries were perfect. The Gentleman at the counter took the order, we seated ourselves. No frills, no pretentious demure; We were welcomed as if we were old friends walking into their kitchen at home. TV on, other patrons enjoying their meals. Was a treat to have the owner/cook(?)'s grandaughter pop in and listen to their banter. She was supposed to be home for July 4 but ate "bad McDonalds" and was sick If my fam had a place like this no doubt McDonald's would tear up my guts more than it already does! It was adorable. She was adorable. He was adorable. Loads of love between those walls and it reflects in the food served. Don't quote me on this but I think we were loved, fed very, very well and out the door for under $22. The only complaint I have is, I wanna go back Would probably be cheaper to eat here and support local every night than to cook at home! Loved it, will be back and strongly recommend.

We ordered the double cheese burger (comes with meat chili, onions, cheese and mustard) and one double hamburger with lettuce tomato onion. The double burgers were 1/2 pound. We also ordered some house made coleslaw. We sat at the one booth and we served very quickly. Our burgers were really good, the burger itself tasted good. The coleslaw was also a big win. We had 2 double burgers, coleslaws and 2 fountain drinks for 22$, great value and great taste. It is a true locals place run by a family. The family pictures on the wall and everyone coming in seems to know the staff. They have a drive through which also keeps them busy. It is not a fancy place but has a family lunch counter vibe. And they even have a drive thru for the restaurant. We walked in and it's a small little spot but the ladies in there are all hustling in the kitchen. They have a variety of items on the menu and at 11am it switches to lunch. We had just made it to get a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuit had so much flavor and just that classic North Carolina biscuit taste. We also loved the hoop cheese that is from NC. We definitely will be back. It was adorable and delicious. Thanks to the girls for making our breakfast!

I was surprised when it came, because I was not expecting a chunk of brisket that thick! The portions are good!!! It's a dark restaurant, not well lit, but I honestly don't mind that kind of vibe. It is not fancy, but once you try something it is different. This is American Cooking but with a style that is special. See what awaits. When we went in I had worked up at the Rocky Point Markets for furniture both in the spring and the fall of each year. It was always filled with folks from everywhere to shop, and see and buy for the next season. There were plenty of places to have lunch. But when dinner came it was special. The local style of cooking was different. It might have the same meal as you would find in another region, but here it was different as it is based on the cook / chef. Tonight we stopped in and the person helping us was very special. She told us of what was available and what was not. She gave the details and let us order. First we had to have an Arnold Palmer. Naturally, it was different than the person down the block. This was not sweet as usually. It was an equal mike and perfect to have. It gave us something to think about. First up was the Mac & Cheese. But unlike normal Mac & Cheese, with this we ordered shrimp. Not what you expect, this was unique. The Mac & Cheese was a combination of fresh pasta and mixed with four different types of cheese. It was mixed together with a cream and butter. It was not a firm mix but a mix that was moist and tasty with each bit you took. That alone was a meal unto itself. Being mixed with shrimp was different. The shrimp where not small. They were a good size. And there was almost a dozen mixed in. They were not placed onto. Being mixed in they aded to the flavor and taste. There was no spices. Just fresh shrimp with pasta and a cheese mix. A dip of bread helped to take it all in. Next we did have Baby Back Ribs. These were very fresh and tasty. Cooked to the right point hthey literally fell off the bone itself with the touch of a fork. The taste was slightly mixed with honey. Sweet but spicy. Naturally had to have some home made coleslaw with this. Plus an order of sweet potato fries. And these were fresh. Alone with a drink these would have been a good snack to have together. I could have had another plate of these alone. The two dishes were perfect. Yet, we did need to have dessert when the couple at the next table ordered it and shared it. This was Bread Pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream and served with Bourbon sauce. This was heaven itself. You did not need more. There people could have shared this one item. Again, it was freshly made and warm. Ideal. The ice cream was made that morning. And, as for the bourbon, you could have had a glass of this. Spread over the bread pudding it was how we sometime drink an Irish Coffee. Had to have that taste with each bite. Overall, this was a special place to for a meal. It was truly unique for the region and for the chef. The team was a great help. The price was great. As for the people who were there, it was packed. Many came from the places where they are creating the new furniture and items that will be on display for the next market in Rocky Point for next spring. They knew where the place is and what to order. It is truly the right spot for a good meal. It is worth the visit next time I am in town.
