Grits (Bowl)

Food was alright, had to just not eat my grits because we were given them with a nice chunk of plastic in it. Then Joyce was rude when we asked to pay separate at the counter and said she had asked us if it was together or separate- which she never did ask. I'll make my waffles at home instead.

Waffle House is not my first choice. But my weekend in Lexington was not about me, it was about my Dad and he wanted to eat here. Plus it was right across the street from our hotel and it was the only place open after we got back from the Wildcats game. Once we walked in we were told we just missed the rush. Most booths had dirty dishes as they had not had a chance to clean up yet. We set at the counter instead. The waitress took a break so the cook waited on us. He was very friendly and talked to us for a few minutes. I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of hash browns and my dad got a breakfast bowl. I was pleasantly surprised as my cheeseburger was tasty and served with lettuce, tomato and onion. And the hash browns were delicious, nice and crispy. My Dad enjoyed his meal too. I would go back to this Waffle House if I visited the area again! .

Open 24 hours with amazing hash browns? Yes, please!! After two busy days of a drive from Chicago in our RV (with an overnight stop in Indiana), and a blown out tire (plus all the fun with that), we dropped a good friend off at the Blue Grass Airport early yesterday morning and immediately searched for a place to eat. A sign for Waffle House grabbed our attention. Waffle House sure isn't the healthiest or fanciest place to eat, but it's pretty cheap and open early enough in the morning. Since they don't have them up near Chicago, we were eager to get there and chow down on some greasy goodness. Waffle House didn't disappoint. Quick and good (but so unhealthy) food with friendly smiles. This location seems kind of new, so it was clean and bright, not run-down like some other locations I've visited in the south. The food was cheap-ish and the coffee was just OK. I didn't have big expectations anyway... just a hungry stomach and a need for caffeine! My brain awoke and my stomach filled up. Good enough for me!

We had a great meal here tonight! I ate 2 eggs over easy, toast, and hash browns for $3.95. My husband had a really good cheeseburger with a grilled bun for 3.95 also and it was fully dressed. He said it was really great and he chose Waffle House for his birthday dinner tonight and he could not have been happier! Our entire check was $12.10 and we had great service and our food was delivered so quickly.

Ah, Waffle House. The last refuge of the late nighters, partiers, and somewhat shady characters. We were in town for a comedy show and ended up going out for some beers with some friends we made. Unfortunately, we didn't order much in the way of food and found the kitchen closed before leaving. Enter Waffle House! We were staying in a hotel nearby so when we parked, a little despairingly having found no nearby food joints open, we were ecstatic to see Waffle House just across the parking lot! After a few drinks and being tired, it actually sounded better than anything else I could have picked! So we walked over and grabbed a spot at the counter. Sixteen bucks later, we were satisfied with waffles and bacon! I got my waffle with pecans and peanut butter chips. After I added syrup, I think that may have been one of the most perfect waffles I've ever had! These aren't Belgian waffles with big grids for holding syrup; they are the flatter kind made from those old-school waffle makers we all grew up with. The staff was friendly and our order came out quick. I'll keep this place in mind next time I'm in town. (Likely, as Lexington is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to visit!)

Here early on Saturday morning for a big breakfast. I ordered the two eggs with hash browns biscuit added side of gravy for a buck and a double the potatoes for 50 cents. The food came out fast and hot cooked to order served on a real plate. This huge farmhand sized breakfast was just under $ 8 including coffee. Sometimes I drop in for a burger in the evening which is also very good. Waffle House is a good stop when traveling in the south.

Delicious food and speedy service! Our waitress was friendly, as well. Only downside was that they were out of straws.

My wife always got the special fried chicken sandwich, which comes with hanarneo cheese, jalapenos, lettuce, tommatoe and mayo. We either get the crinkle-cut fries or the tots as sides. In addition to being roomy and tidy, the interior had several vintage games. This place is excellent for both big and small parties (particularly after a late night). The service has always been friendly and timely. Overall the prices were a little too pricey for a place like this on a college student's budget but the food was delicious and the amounts were substantial. I would still suggest it and will probably come back. There is a rumor, however, that this place may be closing in the near future.

Food tasted great and portions were quite generous, though prices were a tad on the higher end for a spot like this. Would still recommend and will likely be returning.

We met friends for dinner here and started with the Korean Fried Cauliflower which was full of flavor, not too much heat - delicious. I had the Steak Frites, I'm not usually big on on steak. I would typically get a salad or salmon but when in Rome...it was cooked exactly as I asked and the frites (fries :) had a great crisp to them. I was definitely full when I left. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the season, I just loved looking at all there was to see on the walls. The staff were more than exceptional. Plenty of strong selections on the menu, and the specials are always outstanding (had a rigatoni in a creamy sauce with sliced ribeye last time I was over there that was just insanely good). Solid cocktail selection as well. Service is always attentive without being intrusive, and the staff seems to be very much on top of covering for each other as needed, which is truly great (last time there, our server was tied up longer than usual to run through questions from another table, so a colleague helpfully ran our drinks over from the bar so we weren't stuck waiting). Give it a go, you won't regret the trip.

My top-tier chum who literally went to…read morethe school of hospitality and I came by here to meet up with a colleague for brunch last Thursday morning. He's from this general area and recommended this spot, among a few others. I picked it because I liked the vibe, which I stand by in hindsight. Last Thursday was an atrocious weather day, raining for most of the time including the entire morning as we drove up to Lexington from Irvine. Since we'd never been over here, Josie's wasn't necessarily easy to spot apart from the other nearby businesses. It WAS very obviously in this larger strip mall situation (which doesn't seem like exactly the right term, but it's definitely in a building with a bunch of other stores), though we had to walk around almost the entire perimeter from our parking spot on Euclid to find it. Once we did, smooth sailing. Despite the fact that it was a weekday, Josie's was pretty busy when we walked in around 10ish. We WERE heading toward MDW, which could have been a factor, but this seems to be a pretty popular establishment regardless. It feels pretty new - this isn't like an old school greasy spoon diner type of situation - with some interesting artwork on the walls, and booths, regular tables and counter stools potentially available. Our colleague was already there and had secured a booth towards the back closer to the bathrooms, which allowed for some fun viewpoints of most of the restaurant. We were already a few days into our debauchery of a road trip, so I kept it pretty well-behaved - I opted for waffles with strawberries. That's it. The food came very quickly, as did the requested coffee, which might have ultimately been more important than the aforementioned waffles in the grand scheme of things. I honestly don't have a lot to say about them other than that they were perfectly fine waffles. The strawberries were fresh, the waffles themselves were cooked through but not too crispy, and that was that. I think it's a little hard to mess up something this basic, and thankfully all was well. The service was excellent throughout and even though I didn't foot any part of the bill (a thank you to our Kentucky colleague), the prices seemed very reasonable to me - though I also have a completely distorted perspective given that most of my consumerism takes place in the NYC area. No issues here; didn't see a ton of reasons to wander back into Lexington unless somehow Coach Cal comes back to coach the Cats and I miraculously score tickets to something at Rupp, but this was a nice little spot.

The breading was completely void of any flavor and every veggie side was just plain boring. There is just only so much you can do at the table with salt, pepper, and hot sauce.
