Oh Waffle House, you're the one. There has not been a single server who has not been the embodiment of hard-scrabble resourcefulness, juggling tables full of hillbillies, drunk 20 somethings and Kings Island tourists with a toughness, grace and efficiency that makes me proud to be a woman. Each server is like an aunt from Kentucky who calls everyone "sugar," feeds you things made with bacon fat, and isn't afraid to whip some ass if someone gets out of line. The beau and I consistently get better service here than at restaurants that everybody (City Beat, Cincinnati magazine, people from Food Network, hipsters) has a huge boner about. Next time someone directs you to OTR for the latest in pretentious, over-priced "comfort food," kick them in the shins and go to Waffle House instead. read more

I made a carryout order at the Waffle House location at 9725 MASON MONTGOMERY ROAD MASON, OH 45040-9397. It was for a texas toast melt and a buttermilk waffle. In previous visits to other Waffle House locations, I found that the texas toast melts were amazingly good, and the waffles were to die for. I am typically a huge fan of waffle house. But this visit of mine was so horrible that it may be my last. The texas toast was extremely bland, and did not have any flavor like it usually does, and the buttermilk waffle was DISGUSTING. It was soggy like a wet cloth, and shriveled up into half the usual size. It was not crispy as usual, and tasted so bad that I had to throw it away. I have NEVER eaten such an abysmal excuse for a waffle in my life. I hope this comment will prompt some action taken by telling the cooks at the Montgomery location to go back to basic training on how to make food edible. I will never visit this location again, and I will make sure to tell all the people I know as well. I do hope that waffle house does something to mitigate this issue of extremely poor quality food. read more

We stopped in here late night, after the night race at Kentucky Speedway. First there were more than enough staff in the House! We were greeted right away and our waitress took our drink order as soon as we sat down. Even though the place was jammed packed, our food came out pipping hot and our orders were all correct. The staff worked well together and it was actually really quiet in there except for the orders being called. Late night - good eats! read more

Horrible- If I could rate a zero I would. We waited 10 minutes for someone to take out order. I had to actually ask someone to do that. Then another 10 minutes for water and silverware. We waited 30 more minutes at which time only part of our orders came out - ham, but no eggs or toast. After waiting 15 more minutes without the rest of our food we asked for the check and left. Our waitress said she was sorry, but she was talking to the other waitresses and wasn't doing her job. Couldn't find a manager. Horrible experience. I won't go back to that location. read more

Went in on a Thursday night after a funeral. Order a cheeseburger with no onions. Sat there for 30 minutes waiting and food finally came out. The visit there was a spur of the moment after seeing a movie at the Regal nearby. My hubby and I were looking for a decently priced breakfast food at 8pm. After coming in, small and nearly empty entered our minds. We picked ham & cheese omelet, eggs & bacon with toast and bacon cheeseburger. I enjoyed the hearty omelet and my hubby loves eggs & sausage anytime and anywhere. He and I were stuffed. The waitress was very friendly and left us to eat in peace. He brought the bacon cheeseburger home and it made a good leftover midnight snack. All in all, a good place to get quick eats and great service. Small and quaint in every sense (even the bathroom too), but it suited us. read more

Waffle House is what it is, but this one is particularly friendly. Our orders, together, were only $16, and we were greeted with warmth. I love WH, so my opinions of the food are biased, but if you're looking for a quick, consistent, and inexpensive breakfast option, you really can't go wrong with a Waffle House. read more

I want to thank the manager and employees at this waffle house location. My cousin is highly allergic to nuts and they went above and beyond. The manager set up a new waffle iron and used new utensils to make sure that there was no cross contamination. If we are ever back in the area we will def come back. read more

I've been to Waffle Houses and know they aren't the greatest places in the world to begin with, but this one was really bad. The server was very friendly but the food was horrible. We got the Texas Philly, a couple waffles, hash browns...you know the normal stuff. Everything was dry, bland, over cooked and greasy. My son had to go wash his face twice because the grease was irritating the skin on his face. We got the heck out of there as soon as we could. That's an hour and $38 I can't get back. read more

The kids were begging 15 minutes down the road to go to Waffle House for breakfast as they had fond memories of peanut butter chips melting into the crispy grid of their waffles at another one we had eaten at. As soon as we opened the door, we were warmly greeted by one of the cooks and immediate attention from the sweetest waitress I've had in a long time, Belle. She went above and beyond to correct a small error in the order, and even asked me later in the meal whether I'd like some water when the rest of us had finished and my daughter wasn't even halfway through her waffle yet. Took us 15 minutes to even get asked what we wanted to drink ... took another 5 minutes to get drinks .... there was 1 Cook & 2 servers .... I ordered toast and a biscuit & gravy , friend ordered a burger & toast .... from the time we got our drinks it took another 10-15 min to place our order! When we placed it the guy server told us "it'll be a little longer than normal which was fine whatever .... But then I heard him tell the cook our order 35 min later !!! I asked if we can just get the toast , our server tells us I have to go in order of the tabs and who Ordered first ... in my mind I'm thinking it's only toast , you don't need the cook for that just drop the toast ? Well he came Back 8 min later with 1 set of toast at this point I'm just getting irritated , I asked him if he can drop my toast as well and gets an attitude about it . ( need I remind you I ONLY ordered toast and a biscuit and gravy which sits in a pot already cooked and made so you just have to put it on a plate and DONE ... well 15 min later I finally got MY toast ... he told the burger order wrong to the cook and then came Back with the biscuit and gravy about 20 min later ... which was cold .... my friend burger finally came out but he put it in a foil wrap and put it in a bad right in front of her .. confused she asked for a plate ? And he said oh y'all wanna eat here ? Like yes !!! Long story short we spent 2 hours there and all I did was order toast and biscuit and gravy! Terrible service and terrible food , Did not pay tab. I eat here ever Sunday morning. Food is always hot as it's cooked to order and delivered straight to you table. We frequent other Waffle House restaurants and find them all to be a good value. Service here is always quick and very friendly. One thing that's a sleeper is the omelet. They whip them in a shake machine which makes them so light and airy. I'm also a fan of the $5.00 menu which includes a drink. Very good value for the money! read more

They have really good food, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. We were probably the first customers there and our table was still covered in crumbs. The floor badly needed swept. Having worked in customer service for 4+ years, seeing a dirty floor and tables and employees standing around really gets me irked. I was a bit upset when one of the employees turned on a song at the jukebox as then I could no longer even talk with my husband without yelling. If you are going to select your favorite songs, maybe turn it down so you aren't forcing the customers to listen. Despite that, we came for the good food and convenience. Go ahead and skip this place if possible. One worker had two smoke breaks and alternated between threatening to quit and being worried about being fired. No manager/management to speak of. Had a strange altercation between an older male and female which included a smack to the head and a couple f bombs. Somehow these fine individuals were also related to the grumpy worker. The only reason this place deserves a 1 and not a 0 is because the cooks were working amazingly hard! From what I could tell, two people were cooking and busting their butts- just wanted to recognize that because I feel many people never think about the people actually cooking. Back to the rest of the issue. We left after a solid 15 or more minutes without even ordering. The place was busy with most of the tables filled (probably bc it was 11:15 pm and there is no where around here open at that time). The waitress was not nice from the start... And by the way, I do not expect like world class service or food from a Waffle House. She had to get another tables drinks because they came in first (obviously). It took a solid 5 minutes just to get a drink. She then says she's be back for our order. 10 minutes later (at least and not being dramatic), after taking another tables order, yelling at one of the cooks in front of everyone (then claiming she just couldn't hear bc she was stuffy), and standing around acting busy, mostly worrying about everyone else's job, she finally asks if we're ready. I start to order while at the same time another customer comes in. She completely shifts her attention away and ignores us to make sure the people coming in could sit down. When she completely walked away, we said forget it and walked out. One thing I feel bad about is that we didn't pay for our tea. It wasn't intentional, but after we remembered, we weren't going back in. I normally do not write negative reviews (or be the type to send food back or complain on people) but this was truly a terrible experience and the waitress we had needs to get out of everyone else's job and worry about her own because she clearly wasn't doing it. read more
