Highway Robbery at 810 Kings Highway today and totally shocked & disappointed! My son & I stopped at this Waffle House to place an order and then stayed until the order for my 2 sons and myself was ready. The (3) Hashbrown Bowls were $12 each but when he paid the bill for our pickup order they charged us $43.20!! So why a 20% Increase? It was for $3.60 for a Service Charge + another $3.60 for a ToGo Fee! This is absolutely ridiculous! We are regular customers and we NEVER knew about these additional charges. They did NOT even give us a Receipt! . Nor would they answer their phone so we could discuss this 20% Fees Increase. We had to drive back down and address this personally!! I am fuming mad! This underhanded increase of 20% is outrageous. I want to WARN Anyone who goes to this Waffle House for a Carry-Out order that they will increase your Bill by $7.20 (almost the cost of an additional meal!) for just getting a Carry Out Order. Don't always get to go to Waffle House because I'm a Yankee, but this is my second one and it was so clean and everyone was friendly. Our server was kind, funny, and attentive. Whadaya want, it's a Waffle House? I turned my wife on to the Waffle House years ago and she, being a Southern food affecienado, really digs it. We had Waffle House 3 out of our 14 meals during our week in Port Charlotte. One of those visits was at the Punta Gorda location (which is the cleanest WH I ever visited) but the food is always the same. We were shocked by just how good the grits were. I was, I have to say, disappointed that the menu has been reduced due to the plague, staffing, and supply chain issues (according to the menu notice). That meant I couldn't get 'em scattered, smothered, covered, diced, and chunked, but the hash browns in the hash brown bowl were still good. I also got my wife a WH burger one night that she enjoyed. Granted, we don't have the Waffle House chain in California; rest assured anytime I'm in the southeast region of America one can be found. This particular location is closest to my home base and has become my absolute favorite spot for a quick, hearty meal that won't break the budget. All the tried and true favorites are on the menu: waffles (duh!) plain, pecan, chocolate chip, peanut butter chip are what I remember-eggs cooked to order, hash browns, grits, toast, bacon, sausage, ham etc. fills me up and sends me away happy. Breakfast all day is an added bonus when I sleep in. They also have lunch/dinner but breakfast for me is where it's at! Having been home twice within the last few months and going this afternoon for some grub; I was overjoyed to see the same crew bustling around. No matter which server section you sit in you are in for a treat with their witty remarks but my favorite is Jade. She was nice enough to point out cheaper options in what we ordered and for a retiree such as my dad, price is always important. Give a Waffle House a shot when you need a good meal, before a night of drinking, after a night of drinking, or post-surgery, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a clean place to eat breakfast start because the kitchen is open concept, so you see how They made it and get more hungry lol. I've never been to Waffle House before, as I am visitng from the West Coast (California) When I go to a place called "International House of Pancakes" I expect to get amazing pancakes, and they generally do not disappoint. When I go to a place called Waffle House, I expect good waffles. These cheap, thin waffles tasted like crap. The food is cooked in gross margarine. The toast came with the same gross spread on it, which just would not melt. The only redeeming quality for this place was the friendly staff. This isn't their fault. The food here is just disgusting, and I just could not eat it. I left and went elsewhere, I will never step foot in a Waffle House again. I may have nightmares from this food. Brr! read more

Came in for a quick breakfast before heading back home from a trip to Tampa. When we arrived I was surprised to notice that there were a couple of booths available. We quickly took a booth and ordered our food right away since the menu here is pretty simple and self explanatory. After waiting a little less than ten minutes our food for four was ready and it couldn't have been more delicious. Our waitress very attentive asked numerous times if we needed anything and how everything was. I wish I would've recalled her name but I really don't recall it. The best part of all was that after 3 minutes of ordering our food it came out. I know waffle houses are very efficient but this Waffle House is the most efficient restaurant I have ever been to. We always like the way we're treated at this chain. We really like their hash-browns, and they do a good job on the rest of their menu too. They feature the BEST cherry coke anywhere.
