I appreciate the fast friendly service. The food is reliable and good. The big dining area feels spacious. I ordered the avocado & bacon bowl, which I've enjoyed many times. It has scrambled eggs over hash browns with cherry tomatoes and avocado slices with hollandaise sauce and several big pieces of bacon on top. It's a good tasty bowl I definitely recommend. read more

Great food for a great price. Mimosas are just over $5, and you can customize juice options- orange pineapple was delicious. Breakfast was very tasty. Outside is dog friendly and covered- there are no fans but its nice when the weather is right. Met up with my coworker here for breakfast yesterday morning and it was such a delightful experience. I ordered the bacon avocado scramble bowl which was absolutely delish. She ordered the avocado toast which she enjoyed very much as well. The servers kept the coffee coming and hot! Good portions of food. I highly recommend. read more

My husband and I came here for a quiet date night, and it was a disaster. We started with the bacon cheddar ranch fries--they were soggy, old, "end-of-the-bag" bits that weren't fresh at all. It got worse from there. My husband's fish smelled rotten, and my Philly cheesesteak bread was so hard it could have broken my teeth. The most upsetting part was overhearing a staff member in the back using disrespectful language because we complained about the poor food quality. While the manager, Matthew, and our waitress were kind and tried to accommodate us, the kitchen is clearly failing. Even with a nearly empty restaurant, the quality was bottom-tier. The wait staff were super nice and helpfull. Restaurant serves a variety of different food items to satisfy morning, noon and nite. From Chicen pot Pie to BBQ Ribs and all things in between. I have seen a lot of- reviews but I've been there 3× for breakfast/brunch and the food was great! The waitresses bust their butts, they're friendly and check on you during dining. We were in the mood for a burger and that is what we ordered and it was wonderful but while sitting here we so many things we wanted to try, like the chicken parmmmm, cinnamon pancakes, raspberry mist tea. We went here recently for dinner. The place is cute and clean. The food and service were just okay. I don't know why people rave about Metro Diner, we must have been there on an off night. They are also hostile towards dogs. I asked about bringing our dog and sitting outside and was sneeringly told "no dogs on their property". I wouldn't even try to go here with a service dog. Frankly, it's not a place I would return to. There's too many great and welcoming restaurants in the area. read more

This is a really great restaurant! I know it's part of a chain-and this location is perfect! It's clean, and has great service-even on a busy day as it was when we were there. Our server helped us with a few things we had questions about, and made us feel welcome.which we appreciated. The food was so good! So, we have seen the Metro Diners in the area as long as we've lived here, but hadn't tried one. I hesitate to say that Bruce and I were feeling under the weather, but we were. He was trying to cheer me up and we were headed for Tokyo Sushi on Cochran (previously reviewed) when we were stunned by a bam! Yes - someone sideswiped us on 41 headed south toward Punta Gorda. What??? Once we were on our way again, Bruce mentioned the meal he always mentions when he is feeling sad, nostalgic, or out of sorts. "Turkey platter." "It says they have turkey platter right on the door of the Metro Diner," I said. "Why don't we try it? Maybe it will be like Norms." Norms was a favorite of ours back in So Cal. These diners compete on quality, service, and price. I hate to mention another diner-name but it's one we don't go to, and I bet you might know what it is. My personal "I don't go to that famous diner" moment was the time my breakfast sausage tasted like Comet. Yum! But that's not Metro Diner. I can give 5-starts to the two dishes pictured: the Friday night fish fry - super crisp, light fish with an ultra-thin Dixie Fry coating, fresh, hot french fries, small tub of cole slaw. Bruce got his turkey platter and he ate it all. This was sort of the prepared turkey - probably the breast that they would cook by itself - with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and brown gravy. Beans on the side. The salad was crisp and better than our usual SW FL diner salads - it had plenty of non-lettuce ingredients and I don't think it was bag salad, either. After many visits here I must admit that It is a rare combination of great food, excellent service, and obvious teamwork that keeps this diner at the top of my list. Last night for dinner, my wife and I tried their ribs and chicken and both were great. Our server, Hailey did a remarkable job of keeping our drinks full and following up to make sure we were enjoying our meals. We decided to give Metro another try after boycotting it for a year. We sat at the counter because it was busy and we just wanted a quick breakfast. There was only 3 available stool as two of them were blocked off due to a big hole cut out of the ceiling. We order Huevos Rancheros to share with a side of hasbrowns. While waiting for our food to arrive, a big cockroach came running in front of us. We move to an open two-top table and the very nice waitress apologized for what just took place. The entire time eating our food was distracted by looking around for critters. The Huevos Rancheros was not good at all, it used to be good long ago, but definitely not good anymore. Get breakfast! I've been to Metro diner for breakfast, and it was fantastic dinner not so much. I ordered the steak tips dinner, and a Caesar salad to go. I do like the Caesar dressing was on the side, even though it was a little too vinegary still a nice salad The steak tips oh my. I will say that I didn't have high expectations, but I did have better expectations than what I received. You be the judge. I will attach a picture of what I ordered of what I received. The green beans actually were cooked perfectly; the mashed potatoes, OK , steak tips I won't waste my money again. They were tender, but perhaps only because they were cooked so long the gray meat looks worse than it is however, I would have expected a little more gravy, perhaps if only to cover the pallid meat and small portions. Stopped here for a quick bite as I was on my way to Englewood. Nephews doing in line hockey, needed a quick bite on the way. A Cheeseburger and rings were what I ordered. Service was pretty prompt. I enjoyed the flavor of the burger. Clearly, the meat and the condiments were fresh. Rings were tasty, not overcooked, not over breaded. Just right. Happy with my meal I found out from my nephews that I should've had breakfast there as their breakfast are excellent. Not unhappy with the burger that I had , but now a reason to stop again in the future, and dive into their breakfasts. Place was pretty clean. They move people in and out, I did not use the washroom. Food was coming out of kitchen at a decent pace with five cooks; but there were only two wait staff one busier/ food delivery and a hostess and the place was 3/4 full. When we politely brought this to the attention of the management, they offered no alternative, not even a partial comp. I was told that if I ordered another meal, even though I had only eaten 1/2 of one piece of the 3 pieces provided, I would have to pay full price for that as well. Went for the first time today and the restaurant was quite busy. What struck me first was that they didn't have enough people to bus tables and we were seated at a table that had a fork, some scrambled eggs and a few French fries on the floor by our table. Upon closer inspection , the entire floor was pretty nasty with old food under the tables and even a filthy cleaning cloth just thrown by the wall. Not very pleasant. I wanted to leave but my husband talked me out of it. Our server Erica was very nice and helpful, but she too was trying to bus tables so it took forever to get the bill. The food was fine. The turkey was moist and tender and the mashed potatoes and gravy were tasty. I didn't care for the cornbread dressing at all. No onion, no celery or sage whatsoever. My husband had chicken pot pie. It had no potatoes in it which I think is essential, but to each his own. The burgers I saw on other plates looked good, but I just don't think I can move beyond the lack of cleanliness. read more

I experienced the worst experience at Metro diner tonight. I was trying to pay my bill and they ended up calling the police on me. I paid before the police actually arrived as I was not trying to get out of paying. I was just agitated because half the order we ordered we didn't even get. Very poor customer service very poor treatment just for us to pay our bill and leave. I have never had the cops called on me from a restaurant and there was no alcohol involved because we were with our granddaughter on her birthday. Very sad experience. Every time I eat at metro diner I order the same thing. Corned beef hash and eggs... it was my favorite. It was always spot on... until last night. The meat had the texture of leather and the portion was about half of what I would normally get. I'm very disappointed, and will probably not return to this location.
