Just left the Waffle House in Santee and the service is something to be desired. We ordered something very simple but yet the cook didn't even bother to read what the waitress wrote down. We ordered a burger and specifically said "no cheeseburger". It took over 30 min to get our food. Then was brought a cheeseburger. The cook even had the nerve to say to the waitress "oh you said no cheeseburger". (Yes we heard her say this). That took an additional 15-20 minutes to get a new burger replacement while the rest of the party was almost finished with our meal. Then we go to pay, and no ticket. My husband stood at the register for over 10 minutes and at least two people that worked there said oh you don't have a ticket? They couldn't help him but mind you didn't bother to get the waitress. She finally came to the register and said no ticket, oh do you know who your waitress was, and my husband said yes, you. Mind you, was place was not any where near overly busy or I could understand. Employees just Standing around. Yes, I still left a tip, actually way over 25%. The waitress was really nice l, but this place needs some serious staff training. You can tell a lot of them just don't want to work. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

Glad the hubby stopped here. Loved how clean this Waffle House was and there was a staff mopping and restocking and the stove and floor in the kitchen were not upside down covered in food. My son normally hates the bathrooms because they are just deplorable but not this one it was clean. I overheard a conversation that the worker cleaning had been off and that our waiter was pulling an extra shift as is and might be the only one serving next shift which sucks because it seems like a decent place if it had staff around the clock. As a northerner, I had never been to Waffle House. Based on this experience, I won't ever go again. I understand they're a greasy spoon, but this place was a disaster. Walked in at 1 pm on a Thursday. There's 3 servers and a cook. Two tables with customers and two at the counter. Every single table is full of dirty dishes. Nothing cleaned. We literally had to move the dishes to another table and then one of the servers comes over to clean the rest of the table and says "welcome to Waffle House. I have to you tell you that or I get fired." Ummmmmmm ok. My husband and I order and we wait for our food. Meanwhile, not one of the other tables have been cleared. Our food starts to come out, and it's literally one plate at a time... First eggs and hash browns, then about a minute or two later, one waffle, then, one order of bacon, then the second order of bacon, the second waffle, and the second plate of eggs and hash browns. Like nothing is being timed correctly. After our food is dropped off, the server leaves the restaurant and eventually comes back with her own food from elsewhere. In the meantime, we eat the great waffle (literally the only good thing) and some of the bacon. The hash browns were under cooked and the eggs were swimming in grease. Yuck! I'm not sure if this is par for the course or if this is just a terrible location, but either way I'm good to never try again. My husband also mentioned the men's restroom was filthy & looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few days. Gag! read more

Me and my kids decided to go have dinner here tonight. Got there we ordered everything was good. Got our food the girl never asked if we needed anything just brought our food and walked off. So I had to ask for ketchup mayo and mustard. That was fine. Never refilled our drinks . Brought our ticket to the table and my son never got his waffle so I had to ask for his waffle. We got that finally. So I went to pay and I asked for a tea to go and a coke to go. Because we didn't have anything to drink with our meal. So Went back to the table and waited. Well she never brought it so we finally just left. Waitress has poor customer service and now I am feeling sick from eating here. Will not go back to this waffle house. Just gross. read more

Feb.5,2022.. I have seen this issue at the waffle house in santee for awhile now.. that is the racist waffle house I have ever went to. The employees are the rudest and nastiest bunch of people. They are collecting a check and I'm sure no money is being made there. The doors are always locked and they turn u away if ur white.. I sat in parking lot across the street after being told they are doing shift change (lmao these people are a joke) and they can't not serve us but we watched a car pull up and they were black the girl unlocked the door and let them in and they were laughing and I'm sure they were friends and the talk is they don't charge there friends. I have noticed this going on for about 3 months now. I asked the lady if they could clean the other table because the one closest to bathroom it was blowing cold air.. they refused to clean the table over there and more less I was gonna sit where they wanted me to and the table I was at needed to be cleaned. Waffle House is loosing and the the huddle house down the street is getting all the business and the customers are telling them how the Waffle House employees are treating the customers and how racist they are.. They need to fire everyone there and clean that filthy hole up and hire new people. Whenever we head up North from Florida ((at least 6- 8 times a year over the last 7 years) we always stop at the Santee Waffle House and are never disappointed! The food is absolutely delicious ( they give generous portions). The servers and managers make the place feel like home. The times we've caught them really busy or short staffed ( Ahem! Just after the pandemic lockdown) the manger was very apologetic and ensured we got great service. This Waffle House is my very favorite place for breakfast, even better than any I've eaten at my favorite hotels! Really! This Santee stop on I-95 is one I look forward to. As a suggestion for anyone who finds something not to her or his liking: Quietly and politely pull the manager aside and point out that something to the manager. We just went in to eat started to sit down the lady yells that section is closed she turned and walked away we we went to the other end everything was dirty so we turn around again and a lady tells us that the kitchen will be close for 20 minutes because of shift charges. Driving home to NY, wanted to stop somewhere quick for dinner, and didn't want typical fast food. Our 3 girls love breakfast food, so we knew they would be happy. Never been to a Waffle House before. Menu was exactly what we expected...grill food: eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles. Had more than expected too: burgers, basic salad, chicken sandwiches. Everything is cooked when you order it. Waitress was friendly and fast with drinks. Being a New Yorker, we have little or no patience for not getting drinks and order taken quickly. It's just what we are used to. She was cordial and quick. Unfortunately that was the end of the good & quick. Daughters egg platters came out with no eggs, and wrong toast (supposed to come with raisin bread, came plain) Told eggs were coming. I don't know how you can't get eggs to come out at same time as toast and hash browns, unless the grill chef just fell asleep at the grill. It wasn't busy. We were the only order being cooked. I know this because you can see all the food prep. The food was ok once we got it all. Hard to screw up eggs and waffles. I had chicken sandwich. It was fine. Not great, not bad. Wow. I called in to place an order to be picked up and was told they won't except steak orders over the phone. So I kindly waited to arrive to order and once I walked in the 2 waitress was carrying a conversation as if I was invisible laughing and jollying. After 2 long mins of pretending to be invisible I gave my order. It's 7am "no good morning or hello" Customer service out the window¿ No gloves being worn by the cook and everyone seem irritated to actually have a job and be at work. After a long wait with 3 customers including myself, I gathered my food which was mediocre to say the least. For one this Waffle House was the shittest one i've ever been too. Just for the simple fact we arrived at 5:00 am this morning , and there was 3 employees that were working. Our waitress didn't even asked for our drinks , she asked in a snappy way "are y'all ready to order". i said no ma'am i would like a coke and he would like a sprite , she says "our coke isn't working" i said i'll get some tea. She brings the tea and asked us again "are y'all ready to order" i said no ma'am. She goes back and sits down for 10 minutes playing on her phone , and then comes back and takes our order. I was in the south and I was craving Waffle House. I made a mistake coming here though. There must have been only two people on duty when we were here. A cook and 1 waitress. The waitress was horrible. She messed up our order. We gave her the order and age acted as if she wrote it down. But there is no way she did because she got everything wrong and we had to constantly remind her what we ordered. I asked for water twice and never got it. We told the waitress we don't eat pork yet we had ham in our hash browns. When I went to pay for our meal she didn't even know how to with the register. She eventually figured it out. My family and I love Waffle House, hands down our go to place when traveling. But this Waffle House was something different, despite not acknowledging us as we entered we had to find our own sit. We did not get our drinks right away, we got our drinks when the food arrived which was 15 minutes later. The waitress forgot to give us our straws and when we asked for some, she looked at us and didn't say anything and walked away. Their waffle machine was not working and therefore our waffles were given to us late, very late. The staff were yelling at each other orders and arguing with one another about orders. The service was not great, I have high expectations for Waffle House, because it is a very unique place where one can feel welcome upon entering. But not this place.
