Local southern cafe. They serve up a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Given it was about 10:30, I ordered the 441 special, two eggs over cheesey grits and gravy. It was so freaking good! Real grits too! My husband got the fried chicken burger and it was a letdown. The meat was three fried chicken tenders. The chicken tasted home cooked but it made for an awkward sandwich. The bun fell apart on top of that. Also, of negative note, the whole place will leave you smelling of fryer oil. Try it! It doesn't look like much but it's pretty good! read more

We are from the north looking for a hardcore southern breakfast - found this on Yelp - what a score! Do not judge a book by its cover - the outside of building along with dirt parking lot is odd but food is excellent! Prices are reasonable - fried bologna never seen in north! Waitresses did an excellent job working together. Only one complaint was the front porch area used as a smoker lounge - we hate cigarette smoke and could have done without that - sorry minus one star! read more

Great country cooking and sweet, attentive service. We had the meat and 3 option. The fried chicken had a good coating, nice and crunchy. The collards, okra & tomatoes, and potato salad were all good. The coleslaw was fresh and tasty but definitely order the onion rings. Courtney is a sweet and attentive server. On November 13,2017, at approximately 1435 hours Nanci K., Allen T., and I, Dante G., went to Kaitlynn's Cafe located at 1980 Peach Orchard Road, also known as Highway 441, which is in the city of Sumter, in reference to a lunch investigation. We crossed a small veranda and entered through the main door centrally located on the A-side of the building. We were greeted by a female white, identified as Susan G. We sat at a table located next to the bar, on the interior B wall. Allen T. went with a Hungry Man breakfast which consisted of two eggs, bacon, home fries, and biscuits with gravy. Nancy K. chose a grilled cheese with French fries. I went with a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and fries. I was pleasantly surprised to find my burger served on toast. I was concerned about the structural integrity of said toast, given the stressors it was facing. A decent sized patty, lettuce, tomato, onions, bacon, egg, plus condiments (ketchup and mustard). At first, I thought it was going to require a unified command response, but I was able to handle the incident without requesting additional resources. DEFINITELY worth the price. Food tasted great, service was friendly. The service area is roomy enough to accommodate several medium sized groups. Hours are a little unusual, only open until three and open evenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Additional I vestigation suggested. End of Report. read more

Wife and I were passing through and stayed the night at Shaw AFB. Found this little place outside the gate. I was a little worried because it said dirt parking lot and I was on a Motorcycle it we found hard top to park. Ordered stack of sweet cakes and corned beef and hash meals. Both were excellent. The sweet tea was perfect. The biscuits were really good and so were the pancakes. There was some sort of Air Force meeting happening so the place was packed but we still got helped and fed quickly. Great food to start our last day on the road. read more

Staff is very nice but the food is just okay, my husband said the country ham was very dry but he didn't want to send it back because we could tell our waitress felt really bad. I wouldn't recommend *not* going there but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I came here for breakfast and I had just ordered when a gentleman came over and thanked me for my service and said he had paid for my breakfast. I love southern hospitality and although I normally don't allow people to do that he had already paid so I just said thank you! Well I didn't have any cash so I couldn't leave a tip but I really wanted to try their lunch special so... I came back for lunch. I got here too late for the country fried steak (they were already sold old) but I was able to try their hamburger steak special. It was ok not something I'd order again but I'll be back real soon for their delicious breakfast items and to try that country fried steak!!! My waitress Alana was the sweetest. Her favorites are the French toast and hashbrowns so I may just try that when I come back next. I will be here often while I'm still here and want to spread the word to try this little cafe! read more

Don't let the exterior of the building scare you away, the food is awesome here. My husband had the 441 special and was EXTREMELY happy with it. I had the hungry man and it was good as well. Food was cooked well, menu prices are completely reasonable. Parking is ample, they were great with my son as well. read more

Kaitlynn's cafe is conveniently located about 5 minutes outside of the base. I visited this little cafe on a Sunday afternoon. They have a dirt parking lot and a family friendly aura. I immediately noticed a couple of regulars-- don't ask me how I know they're regulars because you just know when you know, you know? I had originally come here for their meatloaf, as I was skimming through their photos, however, I was informed that it was a seasonal item. I was immediately disappointed, but eager to still have a nice time. The two servers who helped me were very friendly and offered great recommendations. I got their hamburger steak that was smothered in gravy and mushrooms, with a side of corn and homestyle fries. I personally don't care for homestyle fries, but it was recommended and I thought I'd be full from the rest of the meal anyways. The hamburger steak was okay. And the corn was hot and delicious. The rest of the menu had the regular breakfast items/combos. They were incredibly decently priced, so that's a major plus. However, I'm not a breakfast person, but I know a lot of people are. It was a good one time experience for me, but a great one considering it's a breakfast-y spot. read more

We have driven by this place repeatedly when visiting kids and grandkids. We were left unsupervised so grampa grams and the grandkids had to check it out. We were not disappointed. The breakfast items were great tasting and generous porttions. The kids ate like a pack of wolves and didn't seem traumatized that there weren't at a fast food place.
