And then the waitress was super friendly (like everyone we met in Florence). My wife had the ham po'boy which was grilled like a Cuban sandwich (yay!) and I had the fried shrimp po'boy. Both were excellent. For sides my wife chose a half grapefruit brûléed and I had marinated tomatoes. I remember having sugar on a half grapefruit as a kid, but bruleed? Epic! I loved the big wall in the front dining area-- half of a Cessna airplane on the wall, superimposed on a blueprint painting (see photo). Very creative. We'll be back!

Service efficient and really pleasant and helpful. Buffet scrambled eggs were the low point - clearly Industrial powdered eggs - but they'll happily make you fresh eggs or a great omelet. So long as you get good eggs, the bacon, sausage, gravy biscuits, etc from the buffet are breakfast worthy. Else order off the menu, it'll be a good plate of food as well. Probably the tastiest thing about any breakfast in Alabama will be the Conecuh sausage - If you're not already a fan, do give it a try (just order sausage in Alabama, it'll be Conecuh!). Wherever you travel, those local specialties are worthy of your attention.

I was seated immediatley and chips and salsa were on the table right away. The salsa was very thick and hard to pour out of the vase shaped bottle. I like thick salsa so this is only an observation. The menu is huge, very often this means they have a lot to offer and nothing is really good. This was true here as well. Restaurants need to learn to do something they are good at and do it better than anyone else. With so many choices I had a hard time choosing and finally got the special combo. taco, chalupa, enchilada. chile relleno and tamale served with beans and rice. The chile relleno was good, I don't like chalupas so I got a second taco instead. There was nothing extra on the tacos, meat cheese and lettuceand they were not stuffed full. The enchilada was good, the tamale was over cood on both ends to the point that the ends were to hard to chew. The rice was undercooked and the beans were fine. The food was just OK. The service was good, I think the shift changed while I was there. I had a young lady at first who was very attentive and helpful. Partway through my meal another lady took over and gave equally good service. Everything was very clean, but they were new enough it would have been hard to be really dirty yet. There are a lot of mexican places in this area, I hope this one improves some items so they will make it.
