Food prices are low. Portions are generous. Hash browns, and eggs are tasty and done to order. My pork chop was either twice cooked or way over cooked. Coffee was hot and pretty fair and waitress kept it topped off. My wife's meal was equal. Bacon was generous and perhaps a little over cooked for my taste. I have been told that overcooked/ well cooked meat is a Southern standard so maybe it is just me and I rarely eat anything but cereal or oatmeal for breakfast at home. The ambience is humble, homey with plenty of room. Overall, it was just about average. The people and service was the high point. They were very friendly and nice. Had to get my own drink refill, waiter only checked on us once and that was to take our order, waiting 45mins for 2 meals when it was decently packed but could see other people getting upset from waiting also. Amazing spot with different food every day of the week. Great prices I think it was around $8 for meat, 3 sides, drink and a dessert. I had the pork chops, mashed potatoes, turnip greens and sweet potatoes. It was really good. The dessert was peach cobbler. The turnip greens were so good- spicy and earthy deliciousness. This place is all the southern goodness I needed. I wish I went back more times. Corn bread I was drooling thinking about it but it was dry and covered in sugar on the top. Road tripping w/ my girlfriends we saw the name of the place and did a U-Turn! We were clearly not locals and our server asked where we were from, we told her NY and she said one of the sisters had spent some time in NY, so she sent her over to our table and we had a great chat with her about common places we knew! When she came our waitress was friendly and courteous. I had the Western Omelette with Hash Browns. My spouse had the Strawberry Waffle. Both meals could have been better. Had never had an unsatisfactory experience until today. Saturday and Sunday are always their busiest days. I get that. We always come on a Sunday after church. Today way no exception. This time the food was not up to par. I had the roast beef, mashed potatoes, okra and white beans. The roast beef was bland as if unseasoned. Same for the potatoes. The white beans were on the hard side. Okra was OK. We arrived at 11:30 am. Did not receive our food til 12:15 pm. Never received dessert that comes with the meal. Did not see any desserts served to anyone during the 1 1/2 hours we were there. Was told that dessert is served until out, but she could not tell me that that was the case. When checking out was told that cashier normally in the kitchen so that told me they were short staffed today. Will not give up on them quite. Will look for redemption on next visit. read more

Passing through on my way from Memphis to Huntsville I thought I'd stop and order something along the way to go. I wanted to patronize a local restaurant rather than a fast food chain. Good thing I wasn't wanting on my insulin. All the lady at the counter was concerned with was collecting money from the steady stream of diners ready to pay. I had already paid and left a tip, but rather than simply turning around and handing me my order when it was ready in between ringing people out, I was finally given my food only after there was nobody left in the line. I was leaving Muscle Shoals after off-roading for the weekend and stopped in (Sun) for some breakfast. Really clean place with friendly service. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews I read because we had the opposite experience. Local law enforcement was there (a great sign btw!!)I had the spinach omelette, hash browns and bacon. Where do I start? Traveling thru the south and see a sign that says southern food by Two Fat Sisters. Sounds like a winner. On a Sunday noon time, obviously church just got out and the parking lot was full. The church crowd was there. A good sign? NOT. Only one menu item on Sunday, $8.99 includes a beverage and chocolate cobbler. Includes a choice of 1 meat item and three veggies. The good first. The country fried steak was ample size and cooked well, not overdone and tender. White sauce was tasteless. Mac & Cheese was straight out of a box, can you say KRAFT. Creamed potatoes was instant mashed potatoes with the same tasteless white sauce (gravy to them). I love southern green beans which are usually cooked with a little ham or bacon. Not here. Straight from the can and tasteless. Wife had kernel corn that was as tuff as could be. Might have been cattle corn not sure. Cornbread was about the driest and overdone I have ever had. One bite and done. The petite serving of chocolate cobbler was just the right size and not overwhelming. A nice finishing touch. Summary: For $8.99 you get just that.
