Live music was playing in the bar as we arrived, we were seated in the main restaurant. We had great service that was personable, attentive, and our waiter gave great details and suggestions of the menu. Our entrees were fresh and with great flavor, perfect steak preparation. Just had a couple breakfasts here, but looks like a really pleasant place for drinks and dinner. There was always live music wafting through the hotel lobby from Swampers each evening. Service efficient and really pleasant and helpful. Buffet scrambled eggs were the low point - clearly Industrial powdered eggs - but they'll happily make you fresh eggs or a great omelet. So long as you get good eggs, the bacon, sausage, gravy biscuits, etc from the buffet are breakfast worthy. Else order off the menu, it'll be a good plate of food as well. Probably the tastiest thing about any breakfast in Alabama will be the Conecuh sausage - If you're not already a fan, do give it a try (just order sausage in Alabama, it'll be Conecuh!). Since we're here several days I wanted share our experience again. Yesterday (see original review) we had an incredible experience here and today was no exception. Super relaxing day in a cabana by the pool with great food and fantastic service. So happy we have another full day here tomorrow. For lunch today my husband had the quesadilla plate and I had the kids chicken tenders and fries. They even accommodated my gluten allergy by grilling the tenders for me. For breakfast we had delicious made to order omelets and I had gluten free french toast because they have gluten free bread! Sydney was our server this morning and she was so sweet and Ben was our server yesterday morning and he was very kind and accommodating. read more

Really great burger. Called Swampers burger. Meat was fresh, not frozen and all ingredients were fresh. I did not get a picture but trust me a great choice..service was spot on. I had a new server, Marlin, never missed a beat. Extremely attentive but not too pushy. Had a great smile which goes a long way after a hard day. I came on a Tuesday. To my surprise, the restaurant was in a hotel. They had live music!! Both performers were awesome and played flattop. I stayed longer than anticipated since I just came for the burger. It was busy, come early. Some said there was a conference. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to stay. Beautiful hotel. Bartenders so friendly, they could charm a smile out of a grumpy cat. The bar area is bigger than my weekend plans - and that's saying something. Outdoor patio with heaters, because they believe in keeping your drinks warm and your heart warmer. The walls are covered with music, history, and collectibles - it's like a museum, but with a two-drink minimum. This place is 4-5 stars for atmosphere, drinks, entertainment and service. I have eaten here with the family. Bayou burger is good fries are good. I like the she crab soup. It's not overly seafood in taste but very creamy. The Greek chicken was very salty... very. I love salt but not that much. Conveniently located at the lobby of the Marriott Shoals conference center hotel. I happened to be here for three night on business and the service was great. Friendly staff and tasty food. The menus is limited as you will expect from a hotel-restaurant but if you do not feel like heading out, to Court street -which you should do if you are able. #fatjared say...the epitome of average. Nothing really bad, but nothing really great. For brunch, there are better places to go. To start, this is a restaurant that is inside a hotel. Usually that does not mean great things, but my mom, wife, and I all went because we had just gotten out of church at Church of the Highlands (Hit me up if you need some prayer btw). The menu was good. We got there right before they changed over from breakfast to lunch, so decided to go with the breakfast options. I took pics of the lunch menu, which in hindsight, I think we should have done lunch instead. The breakfast menu was decent, but nothing too special. I built my own omelet, and loaded it up with all the veggies, some meat, and some feta. The omelet was good, but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately, they did forget the meat in the order. Fruit did not taste super fresh, and the service was decent at best. Coffee was bad, but that is to be expected. What did it for me was the truly basic options menu wise, not great service, and food being just good. Nothing to write home about, and not much more to say. Lunch is probably better, but breakfast just not my favorite. 3 stars is average on Yelp, and it was an overall average experience. read more

It's a nice relaxing place. Although we enjoyed outdoor patio, we prefer indoor seating. Mostly because chairs are more comfortable. For some reason chairs on patio made hamstring cramping. My husband and I were there for lunch. I got the Swampers Burger and it was good. We ate outside on the patio overlooking the pool. Be aware on the weekends or during the summer there are families there. Little kids running crazy and loud are the norm lol. Staff were friendly and restaurant was clean. I was looking for brunch but they had already stopped serving breakfast so I started off disappointed... however the meal was quickly saved! The alabama fries were yummy, but the best was the delicious shrimp and grits! Being from Louisiana, I'm typically very judgy on this dish, but it was perfect! Because I was staying at the hotel for a business training, I chose to eat onsite to save some money. In the 5 days I was there, I found that I had plenty of option for food at Swampers and that the bartenders were happy to recommend an appropriate beer or cocktail depending on my meal order. The Caesar salad was a lite offering which worked as a great counter point for the Swampers' burger. The servers were always attentive, asking if I needed a refill or if I liked the food. In addition to the food, you can't beat the view either indoors or outdoors. It can get a bit loud when large tour groups come through or if you choose to sit in the bar area. read more

I love Marriott at the Shoals; I have spent many happy hours there. The food and menu at Swamper's has become increasingly disappointing. My favorite items on the menu have been taken off, the menu is getting shorter and shorter, and there seem to be no "specials of the day" any more. The food itself is lackluster and sloppily prepared. During my last two visits - the lettuce was not fresh, the meat was over cooked, and the bread was not fresh. I genuinely hope upper management does something to improve the food because the hotel is the best one in town. The food is shameful. read more

They do have a unique selection of specialty cocktails. Nice area to get a sit down and get a drink if you're staying at the hotel.
