The theme made sense and felt very outdoor baseball themed with their tables and chairs. Ordered the chicken and waffles and while the chicken itself was juicy on the inside, the breading was very burnt tasting and tasted like old oil. The waffle was nothing special and on the soggier side.

Inside is clean, bright but impersonal and generic. Maybe they just haven't had the time to put their stamp on it yet. The upsides - there is table service now and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I've ordered their Country Fried Steak with scrambled eggs multiple times now. Still a very good steak and sausage gravy. Either the steak breading of the sausage gravy was maybe a touch more salty than usual. The eggs were disappointing- scrambled eggs should be fluffy due to constantly stirring over low heat in a pan - and previously they always had been. This time they were a overcooked dense, dry puck, It was as if the egg mixture was poured out on the flattop, left and flipped once. Still eatable with hot sauce. Over all - they did hit a ball, but definitely no home run. It's unlikely that I'll be back.

I'm a huge fan of the cheesecake waffles, I would highly recommend trying one of those, especially with the blueberry compote! The cheesecake pudding is incredible, the blueberry adds a yummy sweetness, and their whipped cream is the lightest and fluffiest whipped cream I've ever tasted. Mom got the strawberries at midnight and holy smokes there was a lot of chocolate! She cut me a big chunk and while it was probably too much chocolate for me, anyone chocolate lover would be in heaven! Another solid choice. The fresh strawberries were wonderful too! The staff that works there is always super friendly and provides a relaxing and chill atmosphere if you choose to eat inside. If you're in the area this is a must stop. And make sure you sign up on their website so you can take advantage of a birthday freebie! I'll be back again for sure :)

Park of BG's Food Cartel, Smaaken Waffle Sandwiches serves up way more than chicken and waffles…read more I was nervous when my friends suggested this spot, I've had waffle sandwiches before that were too much waffle and not enough filling... or just a mess to eat. But Smaaken has the perfect balance. The waffles are thinner so that they're more like slices of bread than a thick meal of their own. The toppings are well balanced and they have gluten free and vegan options. They were open late on the night we visited and have typical breakfast options as well as sandwiches with ham and Turkey, bacon, veggies, chicken and even sweet options. It took about ten to fifteen minutes for our order to be ready but it came out hot and fresh and tasted great! Keep an eye out for their specials and don't forget that they have other items like waffle fries.

We got: - a Monte Carlo waffle ( turkey, raspberry jam, cheese, maple butter). - a Monte Cristo waffle ( ham, strawberry jam, cheese, maple butter). - a Holla waffle (super fluffy egg, cheddar, nicely cooked bacon, maple butter) It is all made to order so it is not fast but everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. The waffles are great. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas. Everyone was masked even outdoors. Parking is a little sketchy. Plan accordingly. Both espresso trucks that used to be here are apparently gone, so get your coffee before you come get your food if fancy coffee is a priority. Smaaken Waffles provided a lip smacking yummy breakfast. They have tons of choices: sweet, savory, vegetarian, vegan, meaty, fruity, and nutty. Their menu was extensive. I didn't spot the most probably delightful brie or goat cheese waffles until after we ordered. I really like brie and goat cheese. We will be back.

We came on a Thursday morning right at opening (9am) and were able to snag a table inside for our group. The space is small inside but they do have a few outside tables too which is nice to enjoy in the summer time. Parking is standard street parking right on Broadway. We started out with Turkish coffees and Iraqi Tea. The presentation was beautiful and the complex flavors were so nice to wake our taste buds. We ordered the Beef Mix, Lamb and Eggs, Pastry #2 (hot dog, mushroom, cheese), baclava, and their special halawa to try. They were cooking right by the counter so the whole space filled with delicious aromas while we were waiting for our food. We all had full bellies between 3 adults and 2 kids and took home leftovers! You MUST get the Beef Mix! I don't even know how to describe how delicious this dish is to give it justice but it was definitely the group favorite. It came with salad and yummy boat shaped bread to scoop up all the flavorful goodness. Their house hot sauce took it to the next level. The baklava was the perfect amount of sweetness with the coffee and tea. It was our first time trying a halawa and we all loved the dense texture with a sweet taste. We tried the Iraqi tea, hot chocolate, beef wrap, and minced beef omelette -- everything tasted fantastic. The fresh bread served alongside the omelette complemented the dish perfectly and elevated the whole meal. They also include a small salad portion with their entrées, which balances the meal nicely. Definitely save room for dessert (we tried halawa) as they have some excellent Mediterranean sweets along with amazing savory rolls and baked items.

Hostess called the wrong 'Sarah' after waiting 50 minutes for a table, which is fine, mistakes happen, except she forgot to put us back on the waitlist which meant we had to wait even longer for a table. When we finally got seated for breakfast, we were told the kitchen was a little backed up so it would take a little longer than normal for food - we waited over an hour for our food to come, and no one came to provide us with an update until we asked for it. We stopped in for brunch around 10:00 on a Friday morning and didn't leave until almost 1:15 after waiting to be seated then waiting for our food. I will add, the Denver omelet (vegetarian with fried tofu instead of ham) was really good! We also loved the strawberry scones and chocolate chip cookies. Like I said - I would come back to grab some pastries and a coffee, but probably would not recommend this place to eat.
