When we went on vacation, she took Grace to her home so our dog wouldn't feel left alone. My brother was getting married so we wanted to go to Missouri but our kennel was completely booked. What to do, what to do? Our senior dog had just had a surgery and was still recovering and on medications and our new cat had never been kenneled before so we got to thinking that maybe a kennel wasn't a good idea right now anyway, and especially not a brand new one they've never visited, and that they'd be more comfortable at home. That spawned an online hunt for in-home care where we saw all these wonderful Yelp reviews and gave Laureen a call. She responded quickly, came out for an consultation, the dogs took to her right then and there so we hired her. During our week of travel Laureen checked in with us, texted us photos, and stayed in touch so we never had to worry if our babies were OK. She was also honest in telling us that our cat wasn't as welcoming as the dogs and that she was wasn't able to engage with her much. She could have totally lied and said that she played with her for hours but her honesty will help us get to know our new cat better and how she may be around other house-guests in the future. She kept up with our senior dogs medications and its side-effects (Prednisone = incessant thirst / hunger / panting), played ball with our little guy, and we found them both in good health and spirits when we returned home. When Laureen stopped by to return our house key and pick up payment, both dogs went right to her and our little guy was especially happy to see her so I know they were well taken care of. I could tell right away that she would be great to my dogs. She's very gentle and full of great suggestions. I have a 17 year old pitbull mix that has some mobility issues and is deaf and an 8 year old chihuahua that recently had dental surgery.
