This is my awesome rescue pup, Nugget!!!
    Heather P.

I can't say enough about this organization. When my first pup was young, we fostered a dog who had some anger management issues, everyone at WaggyTail was super helpful in making sure the foster was successful in our home and then in her forever home! This past February, I adopted Nugget from WaggyTail. I was desperate to have another dog at home after my almost 15 year chi died suddenly in the fall, but was so nervous I wouldn't find the perfect fit. Grace first talked with me about Nugget and set up communication with the foster mom, which led to a FaceTime call before we met Nugget. The adoption process was awesome, they are very thorough but also really made the whole process so easy. I felt like Grace worked with me to ensure this pup was the right fit for my home. And his listing on their website was accurate!!! (Also, they do a great job promoting their adoptable crew via social media). Nugget is a dream boat, I fell Instantly in love and am so thankfully to the WaggyTail crew, their volunteers are amazing!! I highly recommend this organization for foster or adoption.

Fostering for Waggytail for the past couple of years has been such a wonderful and rewarding experience! I have a senior dog (14 years old) and a 6 year old cat. So it took me a while to get into the hang of having fosters in my one bedroom Brooklyn apartment. I have fostered puppies twice and I often foster pairs of kittens. Right now I'm fostering two adorable 5 week old kittens that were pulled from the ACC on the first day of their lives! Another foster and volunteer from the organization had them for their first three weeks, and when I was confident I could provide adequate care for them, we transferred them to me once my other two kittens were adopted. I would say if you want to foster, you truly have to understand the limited resources that the rescue can provide (mainly, money). When I foster, I usually spend my own money on things like food and toys (to me that's a part of being a foster parent), but I know Waggytail also gets donations and they have provided me with items that my foster pets have needed including food. I have had great experiences working with the other volunteers who manage the other fosters. Whenever my foster animals need medical attention, they are able to get me a vet visit usually in the next couple of days, depending on the urgency of the situation. I have also been able to participate in the adoption process by reading applications for my foster pets and setting up meet and greets with potential adopters, and it has been so fulfilling to meet the new owners of all of my foster babies and be reassured that they have all gone to wonderful homes. I will also say I have witnessed how incredibly organized the rescue group is. I fostered 2 puppies from a litter of 4 who were part of their annual Tijuana transport. All of the emails I got leading up to that transport were super clear, and the communication from the volunteers was surprisingly great. Whenever I had logistical questions, they would be answered within 24 hours. The day of the actual transport, I saw all of the volunteers hard at work bright and early in the morning on a rainy day. There were stations for where to pick up your dog(s), where to register and get their papers, and a station for extra supplies that included literally everything you would need from harnesses, leashes, pee pads, poop bags, dog food, dog beds, dog bowls, even grooming wipes and brushes! It was SUPER helpful to be able to collect extra supplies needed to foster two puppies at the same time. Anyway, no organization is perfect, and people tend to turn to Yelp to write negative reviews. But I can genuinely say that this is a great rescue to foster with. They truly care about the animals, and that's exactly why I foster :)

Foster for Waggytail Rescue since last December, currently on my 9th foster. The longest foster stayed with me for about 2months, and most were adopted soon. Waggytail Rescue help shared the posts and stories, and there are events every one or half month. It has been a great experience and I would recommend to others fostering from Waggytail Rescue.

I have had the most fulfilling experience fostering with Waggytail. As a first time dog owner, I was very nervous to welcome a 40 lb puppy into my home. Cody (now Milo) was my first foster and quickly became a "foster fail." As they say it is never a fail - the goal is adoption, and Milo found his way home with me. My foster contacts (my "doggy sponsors") supported me through the less glamorous and difficult parts of fostering and animal rescue (yes... there are sometimes ticks and gross poo). 20+ fosters later I am so glad that Waggytail took a chance on me and has helped me grow on my foster journey. I'm grateful for the service minded Waggy community who help me to give my best to my foster cats and dogs.

Great experience highly recommend. I applied as a foster here after having a negative experience at another agency (A New Chance Animal Rescue in Bedford, NY avoid at all costs). My neighbor was a former foster at Waggytail until adopting her forever dog, and had great things to say so I took a look. The application process was a little bit less paperwork than the other agency, but my references said Waggytail was much more diligent with the phone screen, asking questions about my previous history with pets and my lifestyle. Once I was approved to foster, there was a transport coming from the south a week later. I volunteered to help, and the whole process was very organized from start to finish. Waggytail has many volunteers who helped me through the process, even organizing a volunteer to drive the dog right to my apartment from the transport location. I was also set up with an experienced mentor from Waggytail (Bree) who helped me through not only organizational pieces, but care and support for my foster. The foster dog arrived with a small scar on her that wasn't noted in her paperwork so after asking my mentor about it, she and the president Holly reached back out to the transport, found out the details, and supported me through just watching it heal and a course of antibiotics to prevent infections. I had one weekend I had to leave town and they found a temporary foster for me as well. That dog was adopted shortly after as she was a perfect little lovebug. The next foster I got was a NYC stray they pulled from ACC. They were clear he was very defensive and had some behavior problems in the shelter so I knew what to expect. They helped me along with getting him to relax, and Holly met with me to give me some homemade dog CBD :) and teach me some training tips. They also coordinated and helped me through the process of getting him fixed back at the ACC. After a week or so his behavior turned around completely and he's the most friendly loving bug you could ever want. I decided to adopt him and couldn't be happier. If you are looking to foster or foster to adopt I couldn't recommend them more as they definitely do a lot of volume, so almost always have dogs on the way looking for fosters, and are highly organized and supportive.

I have been fostering for Waggytail for maybe 6 months now, and it has been SO AMAZING. I have been fostering and volunteering with different rescues for maybe about 3 years now so I've have a wide range of experience with different rescues, both bad and good. Before even beginning with Waggytail I heard good things about this rescue but once I started fostering with them, they immediately lived up to their positive reputation. I have always felt extremely supported by them as a foster and volunteer. They were very knowledgable around training and caring for both dogs and cats so I always felt i could get the help I was seeking. When personal circumstances arose where I needed a dog to go to a new foster home, Waggy was 100% supportive and helped me find a new foster quickly. They never made me feel guilty for not being able to foster or for having to move a foster to a different foster home. They are a wonderful and respectful team with great volunteers and fosters. I HIGHLY recommend WaggyTail to anyone looking to foster, foster for the first time, or even foster with the hopes of adopting. I am also willing to speak to anyone who has questions about the place so feel free to reach out! (If possible on Yelp idk lol). Also, all of my adopters have been super happy with their animals that they have adopted from WaggyTail!

I have been fostering with waggytails for a short period of time. I do not recommend anyone to work with this organization. They simply do not care to take care of the dogs. First dog I foster was bounced from foster to foster because of behavioral issues that were sugar coated to make him more adoptable. He finally came to me I was hoping to adopt but he was aggressive and did not fit the lifestyle I had laid out on my application and I was told he would need $4000 worth of training which I couldn't afford. My second pup was a transport from Texas. I was told to check for ticks and I found many. So many actually that he has had 4 baths since I've had him (6 days) and I've seen them crawling around my apartment. I asked the rescue for professional help since I am trying everything I can and it's not working. They said it would be on me to get any professional help. I have no indication if heartworm prevention except their word they did it. This dog is clearly struggling and they refuse to get him to a vet or groomer for any relief. And on top of that I am berated and made to feel like an annoyance for trying to get help. Edit to the owners response. I took all of the advice that was given to me by my contacts at the rescue. There was one thing I wasn't able to travel to get because I had Covid and could live my apartment I was able to order it for myself which I told the contact. I wasn't asking for a vet I was asking for a groomer to help removed the fleas and ticks because they are crawling around my apartment and a risk to my health my roommates and the health of the dog. I was told multiple times groomers do not take care of this sort of thing and that all you could offer was a shave. I found a homer myself and paid out of pocket for him to be cleaned. He is much happier now and I have to take him to the vet to ensure he doesn't have Any diseases from the many many ticks he had.

I've been fostering for Waggytail for two years now and have had a really great experience. You're assigned a foster buddy who helps support you during the foster period and fosters are allowed to review apps and add their input on what the dogs ideal home looks like. I take a lot of seniors and a few have had some unexpected medical issues. The rescue was able to get me an appt with their vet quickly and clearly communicated to me what needed to be done for the health and safety of the dog. Overall Waggytail is organized and responsive with any issues that crop up and I'd recommend them for both new and experienced fosters!

I've fostered over a dozen dogs with Waggytail and even adopted one of my fosters. Waggytail's dedicated team of volunteers diligently work to find the best homes for their dogs and cats. They're extremely knowledgeable and answer all my questions about fostering. Any time my fosters had medical or behavioral issues, they quickly gave me advice or directed me to a vet who could. Couldn't recommend them more!

Peak pandemic 2021, my partner and I had a very hard time getting approved for any dogs as we started our search for our perfect pup. My partner and I both work from home most of the time (him every day; I'm in office once a week) so we felt we were pretty good prospective adopters. But still, we weren't approved for any dogs we sent applications for. Then I spoke with a friend who had adopted his second dog from Waggytail Rescue. He recommended them so we checked them out and we saw the most precious dog on their site. We read her bio and knew we would be wonderful parents for her. They got back to us the next day whereas other rescues would not contact us at all for several days/ weeks. We were able to set up a meet and greet that weekend and I knew when I met her I wanted her, but I was trying to manage my expectations since I knew the foster needed to approve of us. Well she did! Her foster, Emma, was so wonderful and explained everything and answered all our questions. We paid the adoption fee and took her home that very day. She immediately snuggled up to us on the couch like she knew she was home. We knew she was shy and fearful so we worked with our new magnificent puppy every single day. Every day we saw improvements and after a couple of months we got ourselves a trainer to help with what we couldn't (as we agreed to in our adoption agreement, which we read throughly). Our trainer is wonderful, but her foster started the difficult work of getting this fearful pup out of her shell. She heels, she sits, she stays, she lays down, she's potty trained. It goes to show what is possible with time and love. And Waggytails started it all when they brought her to NY from TX, where she had a rough start. She had some health problems, but her foster got her all healed up. She is and has always been the most wonderful sweetest dog. I'm convinced she is a unicorn of a dog and there is not a better one on earth. I understand people might think I'm biased, but everyone that meets her loves her. She is very special. Waggytail Rescue does good work. It's all volunteer run. They take a lot of time out of the goodnesss of their hearts, and they do wonderful work. We will be eternally grateful for Waggytail and for Janie's foster. We're even fostering a little guy right now before my partner starts going into the office. He's also super sweet and we have a point person to communicate with. Rae is super helpful, and making the process as smooth as possible for helping out a scared little pup. He's coming along great and seeing the back end of the adoption process, it's clear they're focused on finding the right home for the dog. A bunch of pics of my perfect angel unicorn here.

I would give Waggytail 1000 if I could. Not only did I rescue the sweetest dog in the world, the foster came all the way from NYC to my home down the shore to deliver her and goodies!!! After that, I got loads of advice from the community. I wish all rescues were like this.

I've been fostering for Waggytail Rescue since 2015 and am constantly amazed by the group of dedicated, compassionate and hardworking volunteers that Holly Derito has surrounded herself with. This rescue is a godsend for smaller dogs that are unwanted and transported to NYC from the Southern USA and Tijuana. The rescue has partnered with several NYC based vets to help cats and dogs with significant medical issues as well has some topnotch trainers to rehabilitate dogs with moderate to severe behavioral issues. It is an honor to be affiliated with this all volunteer organization.

I also do not understand having a TV and remote in the room but it does not work at all? Why have a non working tv and remote, it might've helped drown out all the noise? Also was told we had wifi in the room but we did not have that either. The night we checked in my daughter wanted a shower but they were both disgusting and dirty and not cleaned. The next day I took a shower and the water smelt like sewage. Sleep is definitely something you will NOT get by staying here between the loudness of outside (the provided earplugs do not work) and the loud kids staying next door getting any rest on this trip was not going to happen at all. I also asked that no one enter my room without us there and everyday the housekeeping entered even though I asked them not too. The only nice thing about staying here was the breakfast for two days, other than that I feel really taken advantage of and can see why you do not have refundable cancellations because everyone would do that. NYCares is a non-profit organization that simply put, is a place where people can get together and help out the community. It only takes an hour or 2 of your time for most projects and you have your choice of what you want to do. Personally, I'm not great with kids but I definitely feel sympathetic to those underprivileged so I sign up for projects like the sort and patch where you just iron on little patches onto ripped clothing that they later give to kids from low income families. I like to work with the elderly so I also enjoy going to homes for the aged and hanging out with them. Theres projects where you can get crafty or work in gardens and even go to animal shelters to walk the dogs or clean out cages (I can't do this bc ill want to take all of the animals home with me...eek!) There really is something for everyone. Even if you have kids, theres tons of family friendly projects to participate in. Give it a shot. Not only does volunteering help the community but it also helps you grow as a person. I leave the projects and I feel reborn. Its such a good feeling. I'm sorry if I came off as preachy here. I just feel very strongly about this and I love this city so much and I want to take care of it and as residents I think that if everyone gave just an hour or 2 of their time once a week/month/year this city would be a much better place to live.

Last year, I had tennis elbow but after David corrected my swing, I could hit more powerfully and play for longer. More importantly, I am injury-free. David has taught me how to move on the court, reduce my steps, and reduce unnecessary turns. David is also very good at answering questions, although he asks many more questions to push you to think for yourself. This is a great learning process, as all the questions help me think about my shots, positions on the court, and strategies. David's lessons are great for anyone who wants to improve their form and care about the fundamentals. Josh: Josh is a very energetic teacher with a big heart. He is good at working with all types but he is especially helpful with children and women. Josh's way of explaining forms is by paying attention to body position. This is great for people who do not have much experience of exercise and know little about how the body functions. Josh is concerned about the community and wants to introduce more people to playing squash. As Josh oversees the junior program, he encourages the mothers of the juniors to play as well and make playing squash a family event. Josh also teaches women-only classes where he creates a comfortable and less intimidating learning environment for women. A great coach for everyone especially pure beginners. Thaisa: Thaisa is our squash and fitness guru. She is a professional squash player and personal trainer and focuses on how to build a body for squash and prevent injuries. Before, I could barely do sit-ups but Thaisa has helped me to become stronger, to the point where I can now finish three sets of 12 sit-ups. Thaisa is known for creating various dynamic squash drills to train the students: Her drills are demanding but one learns so much from them. Even though Thaisa wants us to finish all the drills, she does keep an eye on us. Thaisa cares deeply for her students and is excellent with small children. She wants to build their physical health awareness and knowledge about nutrition. She especially has a great heart for disadvantaged kids: When she has an extra pair of shoes or T-shirts, she gives these to underprivileged kids and inspires them to continue playing squash. Asghar: Asghar is a compassionate and patient coach who is great with anyone. Before I knew him as a coach, Asghar had already coached me: During my first month at the club, Asghar came to me while I was trying to practice. In a caring voice, he told me: "If you can face the side wall when you hit, you will hit much better." Before I could say, "thank you," he had left Now, whenever I see him at the club, he addresses me in the same caring voice: "Keep up the good work." His positive energy makes the club a greater place. In his group lessons, he is good at quickly pointing out something you need to improve. He also creates drills to help students improve their shots and movements. Juan: Juan is a young, upbeat and accommodating coach. Juan first observes his students, understands their level, and then tries to give a lesson that everyone can benefit from. He has combined different coaches' approaches. Juan often plays with us and tells us what we should focus on. Even when we cheer for our classmates when we play against him, Juan is not offended. He often laughs with us and has fun, too. I believe Juan's lessons are for everyone but are especially great for kids. Once when I was early, I saw him teaching a kid. He was very patient and explained everything in detail. I can sense that kids love and respect him and that he cares for his young students. If you are thinking of practicing a sport, squash is a great choice, and Open Squash is the best place to start. If you have already played squash, Open Squash can be your new home.
