KK9 is an amazing rescue and the staff truly care about the dogs and finding the best owner for each of them. I have fostered over 10 dogs with the org and I can vouch for how great everything is. Gina and Vicky are readily available for when things happen and check in daily, helpful tips are provided for the many issues that come up with rescue dogs, and there is a supportive community. Adopters and fosters from the org stay in contact and are continually helped by KK9! Most importantly, the dogs are the sweetest and cutest! Their process to bring them to the US from Korea is seamless and they are always trying to improve how they work with their volunteers and what is best for the dogs. I've also volunteered at adoption events and they have strict rules in place so the dogs can be a comfortable as they can and not scared. If you're looking to foster or adopt a dog, this is the place!

I only have great things to say about Korean K9 rescue! I heard about fostering dogs around 3 years ago, and after doing some research on various animal rescues in NYC, Korean K9 clearly was the winner. From the foster interview process through getting a dog to foster, they're there every step of the way, whether that's providing training tips to help get your foster dog more acclimated to its environment to providing food and supplies. I initially started to foster to get a feel what it's like to have a dog in the city, but I've found it to be much more rewarding. It's great knowing I am helping provide a safe home for a dog (and often with fostering you're their first home in America)! It's fun seeing the personalities of each foster dog as well as seeing them open up throughout and eventually go to the furever homes. While I have only fostered with Korean K9, I can tell that their adoption process is just an organized and thought out as their foster program. I notice a lot of KK9 alumni at adoption events and get the sense of a community. I'm proud to be helping this amazing organization and hope one day when I'm ready to adopt through Korean K9!

I could write for hours about my incredible experience with KK9R, but I'll give you the sparknotes. I adopted my dog, Milo from KK9R back in early July and since then I have spent nearly every weekend volunteering to aid this rescue and their amazing mission. The people here truly love dogs and want nothing more than to see dogs find the very best homes for them. From a required supply list, to fresh-food diet requirements, to the emphasis on training, KK9R really are huge advocates for dogs before, during and after they have been adopted. They also have an expansive and knowledgeable alumni network, so if you ever have questions or just want a sense of community, you get that with this rescue. I would recommend this rescue time and time again and will be going to them first the next time I am looking to expand my family!

We adopted Kori in June 2021-we were first time adopters and she was our third try with KoreanK9. The first two dogs we applied for in May 2021 had long lists of applicants and were quickly adopted, but that didn't deter us from trying again and the third time was the charm! Looking back, everything was meant to be. We truly feel we were destined to be with Kori. Kori's adoption day went very smoothly--KoreanK9's process was very well-structured and set us up for success. There was a supplies checklist that provided us with the essentials Kori would need, and there was a thorough orientation we had to attend before taking Kori home. We were very well-informed and knew what to expect from Day 1, including what to do and what NOT to do. We were very impressed with the level of detail from the onboarding process (there were instruction videos for how to feed, how to guide your dog if they don't want to walk, and more!!) and the level of involvement from the adoption team. There were very strict guidelines we had to follow, which could seem daunting, but all for good reasons. Regardless, we felt prepared and very supported throughout the whole process and even to this day! Fast forward several months, we decided to foster for KK9 as a way to give back to the rescue and pay it forward to another pup in need. Similar to our adoption experience, we were first time fosters yet felt prepared and supported by KK9's foster team (who I think are angels in disguise)--they provided us food, treats, goat's milk, meal toppers, meds, collars and leashes. The foster instruction manual is THOROUGH but SO important and informative. We never felt like our foster dog was "just another dog" to KK9--they know every foster dog by name and care about every one of them. Fostering has been so rewarding in so many ways. We're happy we get to provide a safe home for another pup, Kori has some furry companionship, and we get to learn more about how to be even better pawrents! I could go on and on, but you can see actions speak for itself. KK9 has a large alumni community and support because we believe in KK9's mission and want to help them however we can. Thank you KK9 for the positive impact you've had on our lives!

It's been a wonderful experience volunteering with KK9R as a foster parent to these pups. I have been following their work for years now and never quite felt ready to step forward as a foster. But when the opportunity presented itself, I took the plunge. The application process was quick but thorough, with clear communication on the expectations for a foster dog parent. Although I've never owned a dog myself, I never felt in thrown in the deep end - the team at KK9R is responsive and incredibly supportive. The organizational skills of the team blew me away. The foster manual is well written and full of useful information and standards. The communication over slack is great to share experiences with the community and give updates on the foster dogs. Finally, the foster diary is another great example of discipline to ensure that the rescue team is well apprised on the well-being of the dogs. The great communication, organization and professionalism really emphasizes how much they care about these dogs. Any time I was challenge by a dog's quirk, someone from the team offered to jump on a zoom call to give tips and support. Really proud to be a small part of the team supporting KK9R. I'm currently on my third foster pup and love how I've been able to connect and follow the new lives of my former foster pups.

Our family has a great experience with both fostering and adopting from Korean K9. You can tell they really care about their dogs and have put in a tremendous amount of effort to help save these dogs and give them the best lives they can. The intense process and strict policies made me nervous at first but it was one of the most rewarding decisions I ever made to got through with the process. I adopted Mocha (aka BB) back in July and couldn't be more thrilled to have her in our family. While the process might have been more intense than other places, you can tell that they really put the best interest of the dogs in place to make sure that every dog is matched with the best home fit. These dogs are being rescued from some terrible living conditions and it's amazing the amount of effort they put in to make sure the dogs are put into a loving home. While requiring a trainer may seem off-putting for some folks, it really helps to instill confidence and trust with these dogs who may just need a little more loving and patience than an average dog. I felt a lot more reassured by having a trainer - something I honestly never would've considered normally. One of the best things is also the fact that there's a strong KK9 community! I've chatted with several alumni and also gotten some tips and attended some events that was great to have. I've also been able to have my doggo meet up with her littermates which was super heartwarming to see.

Perfection in an organization! As an adopter, volunteer, and foster of KoreanK9, I am excited to share my glowing reviews of a five star rescue organization!! I have been volunteering with KoreanK9 Rescue since January of 2023. The volunteer experience is extremely rewarding, the team is absolutely amazing and super kind, and the other volunteers share a passion for saving these sweet dogs. I applied to foster with KoreanK9 Rescue and the process was super seamless, I started Fostering Thunder (Photos attached), and knew I had to adopt him! The organization was very supportive and walked me through everything, got on the phone with me whenever I had questions, and now that I have adopted Thunder I still chat with Gina and team weekly! I don't think you can find a better organization they are truly one of a kind! They saved my sweet Thunder and I am forever grateful, not to mention KoreanK9 Rescue is the best community. Thank you !!!!!

I've fostered 3 dogs with KoreanK9 over the last few months and this is one of the best run rescues you can find. Everyone on their team truly does everything they can for their dogs, as well as their fosters and other volunteers. Each dog I've fostered has been so well behaved and truly a joy to watch grow into their new environment. It is clear that their team in Korea already spends time helping the dogs start to adjust. I highly recommend getting involved with the organization in any way you can - adopt, foster, volunteer!

With so many rescue orgs in NYC, it can be hard to find the best fit. As a volunteer, former foster parent, and recent adopter @ Korean K9 Rescue, I can say that the team is incredible, the process is very clear and hands-on, and I could not be happier with my experience and my rescue pup. They have extensive resources for prospective and new adopters including orientation, manuals, vet recommendations, trainers, etc. An important piece for me is KK9R's post-adoption check-in process and the wonderful community they have built for "alumni" adopters. Cannot recommend them enough!

We adopted our dog, Yeonggi (fka Ricky), from Korean K9 this summer and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. While their adoption fees definitely gave us pause initially, we quickly realized that its for good reason! So much care is put into the dogs before they reach your home. In Korea, the dogs work with trainers for months to prepare for NYC - everything from walking stairs, leash training, taking baths, going to the airport, crate training and more. My dog was aggressive towards male dogs when he first arrived at their Korean facility and they trained him out of it there (we're even fostering a male dog that Yeonggi is perfectly content living alongside). Once they're in NYC, the fosters keep detailed notes about how things are going. Gina and Vicky check in with every foster dog daily to give guidance and make sure the dog is habituating well. We had such a wealth of information about our dog by the time he entered our home and with the help of our trainer (which Korean K9 assigned to us), he is so well-adjusted (and all of our friends comment on how well-behaved he is, especially for a rescue, which I take zero credit for). Since then, I've started fostering and have seen first-hand just how much Korean K9 cares about their dogs. Gina and Vicky have done multiple Zoom sessions to coach me through a tough separation anxiety case, taken frantic calls from me in the middle of the day and even showed up in person in the middle of the night to help out when my foster dog got tapped by a car and bolted. If you're looking to adopt a dog - yes, I know Korean K9 Rescue's process is rigorous and yes, it is a big commitment (both from a time and money perspective) but if you can afford it, you can't adopt from a place that truly loves their dogs (and their owners) more!

There are truly not enough words in this world to describe how amazing Korean K9 Rescue is. Fostering: After losing my beloved family dog prior to the pandemic I was unsure if I was ready for a new pup but tested the waters with KK9 Fostering and it was the BEST decision I could have ever made. They support you along the way in every single step and provide EVERYTHING. All you need to provide is your loving home, love to the new pups coming in, and drop them off at adoption events. I fostered two beautiful dogs Rose and Kami who just made me sooo happy. If I ever had questions they were always available to help out and I never felt alone. If you are considering fostering look no further and do not hesitate! Adopting: The most unexpected thing happened to me while dropping off my foster at an adoption event. I fell in love and met my new fur baby !! The adoption process again was so organized and they set me up for success with supplies and recommended trainer. You will get everything you need from medical records, learnings from previous fosters, and not to mention a community !! They will follow up with you and again you are never alone! You can always reach out to learn more or ask questions. Korean K-9 changed my life for the better and if you are ready for this to be you look no further!!

Throughout the past year, I have both fostered several dogs and adopted through KK9R and I can say that it is one of the best rescues out there. The experience fostering was a highlight of my entire year. We fostered three dogs and each had their unique personalities and needs which Gina and Vicky helped us with at every step. They use a Slack group to have everyday check-ins with the fosters and are literally available to us whenever we needed it. They also provide almost everything you need to foster and give you more every week--we totally had more than enough of everything like toys, bully sticks, food, meds... for our first foster, they even provided the crate since we were just starting out. The team at KK9R is extremely dedicated to best serving these dogs and also helping every volunteer do the best job they can in helping along the way. By working with the rescue in fostering, it undoubtedly prepared us sooo much more to eventually adopt our own dog. The adoption rules are strict--and for good reason. They set us up for success with our dog so much more than I would have expected them to. We had absolutely everything needed, plus recommended vet, diet, and required training sessions (which I wouldn't have necessarily signed up for on my own but have been SO helpful and essential to our success as pet parents and to our dog's overall wellbeing). Everyone at KK9R is so helpful and committed to providing great lives for all of the dogs that go through the rescue and it absolutely shows. So grateful to them for giving me my sweet pup.

Few things in this world have made me happier than this little guy. We had a great experience with KK9. They made sure we had every tool and resource necessary to make sure he was successfully acclimated to our home. They explained thoroughly on how to bring my dog into his new home. I've rescued dogs before but these ones coming from Korea, these dogs are known to be major flight risk and super skiddish. Would not recommend for first time dog owners. Working with their trainers, we've made some amazing progress. I've reached out to the KK9 staff on multiple occasions and they are always super helpful and encouraging. I've read reviews complaining about the price but I can say landing a dog from Asia isn't easy or cheap - just the flight and vetting alone costs real money and resources. Every tool they require of you - from training cot/bed and GPS collar to training packages - is a peace of mind and reassurance that you'll set them up for success. I can't thank KK9 enough.

Which was a rally that they were going to do on April fifteen to raise the wage of commercial fast food chains workers to fifteen dollars. Hey if Chicago can do it why not here? Maybe overall as a whole nation? They had for the rally free food that they were bringing in so that they can box it to give out to the people coming. But that is not even the tip of the ice berg, one of the workforce personal I met even told me they do things such as try to fight to lower the medical bills of their members if it is that bad. They are really doing all they can to help immigrants do better here in the US. Now their building is pretty cool. It is bright and full of stuff. As soon as you enter you see good amounts of South American flags which adds a pop to the sign they have. You see cut out pages of Hispanic papers, that I am assuming shows headlines of something significant they did, on the walls that are framed. There rooms are not that big which is saying a lot because from what it looked like at least three co workers are in a room. The craziest thing is for all the different programs they have all the rooms are the same size. That is saying a lot for what they have accomplished with such minimal space. They had on some rooms adults learning English, or at least I an assuming that; while what looked like to me a little kids education center. They had a presentation room where I was sitting that was big and spacious. The place was chaotic but you expect nothing less from such a big organization.

Two workers came and negotiated a very fair price (so "fair" that I actually upped their compensation by the end of the day) and they committed to the entire list, which they finished despite unforeseen challenges with hardware, equipment, and really difficult installation spaces in my apartment. They had tools and were really creative about finding workarounds where necessary. My apartment is also in an old, slanted building on a high floor (walk up) and they took a ton of time to make sure that everything was both level and attractive. The two men (Miguel and Edgar) were really wonderful - I think Miguel can fix/make/install anything. They took obvious pride in heir work but also offered me a lot of comfort that a job was being well done - even better than I had expected. They were prompt, consummate professionals, and incredibly helpful. And they worked really hard, completing the entire agreed list even though it took far longer than any of us expected.
