    Rough but functional
    Lu T.

Functional. Obviously there are world class practice facilities around the world and this is not one of them, but it serves it purposes. You do hit off the mat and there are a bunch of bays. The chipping area behind the driving area is OK. The greens are not very good, but it serves its purpose. The staff was very friendly with Junko greeting me with a smile and very helpful. I visited the island and did not have any clubs on me, but there are some clubs that they allow you to use for free. Not the greatest but functional again. It serves purpose while you're on the island to warm up or keep your game going.

Nice Day to hit some balls.

Just started to pick up golf again and need to get the swing back. I avoided Ala Wai driving range thinking it would always be crowded but depending when you go it's very convenient and not crowded at all. We've been going about 4 in the afternoon and a few times at night. It's $14 for a large bucket and $8.50 for a small. The balls are good and the mats are nice. They also have a decent putting area where you can chip. Only complaint is the wind lol....and I wish they had a few more targets to zero in the range of your shots. Planning on going again tomorrow:)

My friend and I decided to go hit some balls because we couldn't make a hike in the rush hour traffic. I have never in my life picked up a real golf club and neither of us really knew what we were doing. Going into the golf club itself was a bit confusing as there wasn't much signage and we weren't clear on where to go to purchase balls or rent clubs. Once we figured out it was a separate building down the path we got our balls and clubs, not a bad price for an afternoon activity! We didn't get much support or advice in the store on how to pick clubs or what the different ones are used for but we had a good time and the folks our practicing their legit golf skills were friendly.

The last time I actually hit a golf ball was October 2019. Stuff happened since then, and it's still happening. Golf is not like riding a bike. It's not something that just comes back immediately. Practice, practice, and more practice! After nearly two years, I definitely needed to practice before taking on the golf course. It was a Sunday morning, and the driving range was very busy. I brought my own practice balls that I got from someone, and good thing I did because I seen the photos of the gnarly, roughed up, yellow golf balls on Yelp, and seeing them in person looked even worse. The setup is nice with plenty of space to put your golf bags. The mat is thick, so any errant golf swings into the ground wouldn't damage your clubs too bad. :) The worst part is the range itself. There are no distance markers at all, and it's pretty much all dirt. It looked rough. This was actually my first time at this driving range as it's not the closest to me, and being dubbed the "busiest golf course in the world," I tend to avoid places like that. Though, I believe that was in the 80s. Overall, it's pretty much your typical, no frills, driving range. Grip it and rip it. I really, really hope the City is still partnering with Top Golf to upgrade and update the driving range. It'll be the best thing!!

people waiting in line outside shop and not a single person hitting golf balls
    Jason B.

Several times this week they close down the shop to pick up golf balls, instead of being proactive and gathering balls constantly and refilling the machine. Customers are asked to wait 45 mins to an hour for more balls. Someone needs to fix this issue or train their staff better.

    Heidi B.

Possibly the busiest driving range and course on the island because it's conveniently located in town and their hours are long. Balls are on the expensive side compared to other ranges ($14 for ~75 balls), but you're paying for the location. Friendly staff. View is decently for the location. There is a putting green but they sometimes close it without notice. I'd avoid 4-6pm as they're the busiest during this window and it's hard to get a stall. This range is by no means amazing but you're going for convenience factor here.

    Dawn Y.

First time here and we got on as a wait list for cancellations. People don't really know etiquette so sometimes they would.hit into us or play extra balls and slow the pace down. No snack bar or water out there. I also prefer courses with artistry, these are long links up and down, feing less that

On the day I went, they didn't have French fries as an option that is listed on the menu. If I recall, that was the case several months ago when I went there. But not to be at all disappointed when I was given a really delicious mixed green salad with fresh strawberry slices and craisins with a very yummy salad dressing. It was the more nutritious choice, so even though it was my plan B, it'll be my plan A option next time! Back to my entree. I had the loco moco. It came with a generous hand-made burger with brown gravy and a scoop of brown/white rice. The sunny side egg was perfectly cooked. I had some of the fish sandwich too. It was just as delicious as the last 2 times I got it. The fish was a thick slice that was lightly egg battered. The brioch bun was so soft and tasty. I loved that there was tomato and lettuce on it. A deluxe fish sandwich! I really like it! They were setting up for a private event with cloth covered chairs. Maybe a good idea to look into that for a future event. The restaurant is set up with a few chairs, a side room that was set up with long tables with chairs, and there's a bar with several bar stools. I've not ever seen the bar empty. Next time you're in the Moanalua Valley area, check it out!

Bay View strikes an impressive balance between the two. The ball-tracking technology is excellent, the bays are well maintained, and whether you're dialing in wedges, working on dispersion, or just enjoying a casual round with friends, everything works exactly as it should. I've been to Topgolf locations across the mainland, and honestly, Bay View gives them real competition. In some ways, I'd argue it's even better. Instead of staring at parking lots or city skylines, you're hitting balls surrounded by lush tropical scenery with Hawaiian trade winds and mountain views. It's an experience you simply can't recreate on the mainland. The food, drinks, and service all complemented the atmosphere, making it easy to spend several hours here without ever feeling rushed. Whether you're a scratch golfer looking to fine-tune your game or someone just swinging a club for the first time, Bay View has created something special. It's proof that Hawaiʻi can take a great concept and elevate it with a setting no one else can match.

Also contrasting is the fact that Hawaii Prince is free to play and eat there and Oahu Country Club is for members only, and we are talking very exclusive and invite-only. I saw Barak Obama's face on the wall of members out of hundreds. I am sure I could spend hours looking at all the photos and names and recognize a few big names. The 100 yr old birthday party was hosted by my well-to-do friends, it was their mother/grandmother, so this was a special event for sure. The banquet servers were very attentive and the endless mimosas kept coming. The appetizers were the best thing - crunchy veggie spring rolls, ahi won tons, cucumber with smoked salmon and soft steamed pork bao. For our main course it was ahi steaks in creamy brown butter sauce and a scoop of white rice, or filet mignon. I had the ahi steaks and they were cooked to perfection! The entertainment was hired by my friend, a local newscaster who was a complete and utter hoot who made the entire party fun! Some of us sang very bad karaoke and I felt sorry for the baby shower next door! Our bartender around the corner was Keith, and he was stellar! I wish I had cash to tip him but I came to the Country Club empty-handed. Maybe I can convince my friend to take me back for cocktails so I can tip him very well. Cosmos were super good, liquid bliss and super smooth. The grounds are other worldly beautiful, with soaring mountains and forest in the background and the ocean facing the other way. I don't play golf but hear this course is super difficult but even if you play horribly at least you have the views to soak in. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, so awesome. However, my shoulder unfortunately developed a recurring dislocation that worsened over time, and I was forced to give up golf despite my reluctance. Even so, thanks to my golf-loving friends, I still feel excited just looking at a beautiful green, even if I can't play anymore. This time, I visited Oahu Country Club for a party hosted by my lawyer's firm. The event was held in a private banquet room overlooking the lush greens, and it was a wonderful experience with delicious food, drinks, and pleasant live music. As expected, the clubhouse cuisine was refined and impressive. There was even a nigiri sushi station, which made me especially happy as a Japanese guest. The club is conveniently located about a 14-15 minute drive from my home. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that even non-golfers can become members, so I immediately started looking into it (laugh). After all, being able to enjoy great food and wine while taking in such a beautiful view sounded very appealing. Unfortunately, the membership fee comes with about six zeros in USD, and we quickly gave up the idea... That said, it definitely reignited my passion for golf. The course at Oahu Country Club is set within a forest and features significant elevation changes, making it quite challenging for beginners. However, it offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy golf surrounded by nature. The clubhouse itself has a casual atmosphere, but there is a dress code--such as wearing collared shirts--so don't forget to check your outfit before heading in for a meal.
