This is a 3.5 but bumped up to 4 because the staff was so consistently welcoming, and the price is a fair value. Cons: no fan in the bathroom, so smells and humidity lingered. Windows did not block out party noises, even though we were on the 17th floor. With humidity and no fan in the bathroom, we really needed towel service every day. We also could have used a trash can on our floor. Scary narrow ramps in parking lot convinced us to never rent a car in Waikiki. Pros: ocean view for an excellent price. Fun extras like free ice cream and ukulele lessons on Fridays. Towels for the beach offered, no questions asked. Welcoming staff. Table for in-room eating. Basically, this was a third of what others in our party were paying. It was worth it.

Deceptive representation! Nothing like the photos or description online! The first room was musty, peeling paint, a slanted dirty tub, the bathroom so small you have to lean on the sink to close the door to skim past the toilet to get into the tub! The A/C wasn't working and the 'triangular "balcony" was so small not even a chair on it - NO views This was CHRISTMAS DAY when we arrived with a 3 year old and TWO days of flying! Gave us another room real quick before we tried to go to our CHRISTMAS dinner reservations and said we could change rooms after- that seemed better but wasn't! This room had crusted pee stains on the toilet seat connections, hole in bathroom the ceiling, dirty carpet &.A/C struggling to work. We were so exhausted we went to bed at 8:30 pm The next day we went to the "pool". It' literally looks like they shoved something in an alleyway between two buildings -No sun, no lounge chairs, just some Home Depot dirty flat cushioned outdoor furniture pathetically sad. BEYOND DISSAPOINTING‼ Thoune.

Hate to write this review had the worst experience staying here. At first we were very happy facilities looks nice and clean then we got to our room (we stayed in the older section of hotel) right when we open the door it was humid inside the room and had a weird smell. The room is outdated but decent but at night time the sound of something in the wall kept us awake at night at first we thought it was the mini split so we dealt with it. We then there turned off the air conditioner off at night and we still heard a sound that we believe was an animal there (see video to hear the sound). I called the front desk to let them know about the sound so they moved us two floors (202 to 403) up even though we were staying only one more night this was a mistake I woke up covered in bites see pics. The parking is another story $210 to park in the worst parking garage. I hate to say that I cannot recommend this hotel the one good thing is the location.

First off the place is filthy!! It smells bad, and the staff was super unhelpful except for Robbie. I have never ever heard of a hotel that doesn't offer cleaning services daily, especially when it's already filthy. So glad I remembered the Clorox spray. Do not ever come to this hotel!!!

The biggest problem with this place is that they don't tell you that there's an extra fee every night you spend there. We were given a trip by my son, and when we checked in they charged us an extra $300 for some kind of hidden fees. I thought that was awful. So expect it! Next, they say they have ocean views. You're gonna need binoculars. Everything is built up all the way around this hotel. my son paid for us to stay on the top floor and I'll add a picture. Do not pay extra for ocean view!! They also have mandatory maid service. I didn't like that. I like to put everything in my room I know that no one's going into my room until after leave. There is no cutting out breakfast, just coffee. The concierge needs to be replaced or trained. We asked him several different questions on different days and he knew absolutely nothing! He didn't even know about the night market that happens every single Monday, Just down the street. The positives are there was a refrigerator in the room that we did not discover until the last day we were there. It's in the dresser. I never use those dressers and never thought that it would be hidden like that. They do have a hairdryer in the closet. The beds are super comfortable, very firm. Room was pretty clean. There was dust behind the toilet seat between it and a tank. The staff was incredibly nice. Every single one of them. The location is perfect, just around the corner to get on the trolley. There's a 24 hour IHOP two doors down. There is no shuttle service from The airport but the W line is three dollars a person and stopped right outside the hotel.

Room was very comfortable - the bedding was very comfortable. Yes, they should fix the wallpaper, but, . . . .

We stayed at the Waikiki Malia Hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday, my wife and I, with our daughter and her family (husband and two granddaughters) and I thought the hotel was FABULOUS, and especially for the price!! The hotel is less than 3-blocks from Waikiki Beach, accessed at multiple points of entry including the Sheraton Waikiki Resort where our other daughter, son and grandson stayed. Yes, the restaurant does not have a hotel restaurant per se, but literally just outside the hotel, within a 5-10 minute walk, you have so many options to eat, shop, eat, shop, eat shop, . . . . . attend a luau, go to Mass, eat, shop, eat shop, etc. Also, there are probably ~10 ABC stores in that same distance where you can buy anything!! And there is a Target, YES, a Target in the same walking distance!! The hotel does NOT have a fabulous pool, it's no larger than most hot tubs, but you can be at the beach ~10 minutes and the hotel will give you beach towels. The bathrooms are a little small, as well as closet space, but the dresser is HUGE. The patios are small without chairs to sit outside, but, okay - the views are great!! The staff were absolutely wonderful, helpful and attentive. I would definitely return to this hotel because I'd rather spend less on a hotel room and use it for great eating and shopping and time at the beach!!

Waikiki Malia is a five minute walk away from the beach. The room itself is average, the decor--dated. The restroom is on the small size, especially the shower. If you are on the bigger side whether horizontally or vertically then you may find it uncomfortable. They do have a decent size hot tub but a dinky size pool. If you're over six feet tall you can probably get a few strokes in before hitting the wall. A laundry room is on site as well as a small fitness area, and across the street are several places to eat (not too fancy). What stood out to me at this hotel was the excellent service. All staff members were friendly and welcomed you every time they saw you with a warm smile. It made me feel like I was staying at an aunt or uncle's house. For this reason, I'm giving it 4 stars; otherwise it would've been a 3.

Me and my Ohana been coming here every once a year for the past 5 years and we love it here..we always get the 1 Bedroom Studio 1 Queen 2 Twin Beds which is a separate area and separated elevator from the regular rooms..our room comes with it's own kitchen with mini stove (depending on what floor..some don't comes with the stove) ..sink..mini fridge..iron with iron board..coffee with coffee machine..plates..forks..spoons and pans to cook..and personal microwave (other guest over at the other area of the hotel share microwave at a different part of the hotel) just like what other reviewers stated it's a bit old fashion with decor but you're in Hawaii..go out and explore the outside don't be stuck In the room..we never stayed at the reg rooms but I heard it's nice and more updated There is a lot of food places like restaurants.. food trucks and a lot of hole in the wall places to eat at..tattoo salons...massage places and place to do your nails..bar downstairs and around the corner and IHop that's connected to the hotel ..all walking distance.. We never had any bug issues..no smell issues..yeah the streets is a bit noisy with drunks..fights and cop cars but we locals and we're just used to the noise..room is and always had been clean when we arrive. Staff is always amazing..smiling..always greeting.. very friendly..always asking if we need help..just plain friendly..don't be afraid to talk to them..ask questions to where and what you're looking for..they know places.. My boys love the pool area..comes with a decent size pool that goes up to 4 ft deep and a jacuzzi that will fit about 10 people inside..and a seating area that you can drink while the whole family swim.. Other than that coffee is provided to guest every morning in the lobby and events posted in the elevator during your stay

    Thx for the stay, Malia!

How much is the hotel fees? And is it optional?

I think it's $22 a night and not optional. The local special waives it.

Does anyone know if there is a cheaper parking lot or better parking nearby the hotel?

It is the cheapest overnight parking I have found around. If you are looking for short term, you may find a meter on a side street or try the lot behind Aqua Oasis. It looks sketchy to me though, too hidden and dirty.…

Hotel offers different types of pillows in the room and spare blanket in armoire. Also in the armoire is hangers, an ironing board and steaming iron, which came in handy for those wrinkled linen shirts mashed in my suitcase. The Bathroom. - one sink with a little counter top space but sufficient. The toilet was also bidet in the master bath. The shower pressure on 21st is ok but low, but it did the job. The Ac in room was awesome! It gets super cold, if you need it, quickly. It was nice for those hot humid days of walking in Waikiki. It had an In-room mini fridge and bar sink with 4 real drinking glasses, which I like. Hated there was no freezer in the mini fridge But the bell hop station offers to freeze ice packs, or whatever you need, for you. We had 3 sliding doors with west views and moderate views of Waikiki beach. The Second bedroom has own bath with also a single sink, toilet and shower- No bidet. The room/bedding/bathrooms were clean with no mold in the showers. The furniture showed a little wear but nothing excessive. The Elevators were fast! The pool, mangers reception and breakfast are all on the 4th Floor (terrace level). Breakfast was typical of Embassy Suites, I like the made to order omelette which makes it much better. Lots of fresh fruit and even some miso soup and other Japanese/Hawaiian offerings. The Staff was awesome and super friendly. I Used valet every day. Great service, fast and practical IMO but hard to swallow the daily fee. The hotel was attacked to the Waikiki beach walk. Island vintage coffee was a regular stop for coffee and sometimes breakfast. Order coffee or food to go online after 8am to save a ton of time standing in line. Hotel was Very close to all ththe shops. Awesome location. Much better location than Hilton Hawaiian village location!!! Our fav restaurant close by the hotel was Kana Pilla and Monkey Pod, which were across the street. Make sure to make Open Table reservations for both way ahead of time. I did mine 2 months out. Housekeeping willing to clean and supply new towels daily however linens are not cleaned but every 5 day, unless you request it, which they are happy to do! Views from 21st floor were awesome and all 21st floor rooms had extensive balconies. 3 sliding doors. Keep in mind Ac doesn't work, yes the fan blows, when the doors are open!! It's too humid at night to sleep with them open so we had them open for select times, mostly am. There's a Washer/dryer laundry room on site, 3rd floor only. It was Very convenient especially packing 4 days of clothes for a 10 day trip so our suitcases weren't stuffed . Use laundry room on sundays/mon or late evenings when people are too busy arriving and leaving. $5.25 to each wash load and I think $4.75 to dry. Washers only wash with cold which I like. Perm press on dryer seemed to dry all our shirts and socks well. We hung our nice Aloha shirts on the hangers in the room and they dried within a day. Washer and dryers take credit cards. Yes they're is a soap machine that also takes credit cards. I didn't use and just bought soap from ABC. ABC stores are EVERYWHERE so don't lug around suntan lotion or waters in your suitcase. Just buY at ABC which is only 20 steps away. FYI ABC doesn't no GIVE out bags for items unless you spend over a certain amount. ANC bags cost like .50 cents. ABC has Awesome poke and alcohol (spirit and beer) choices. Yes single purchase tall beers too. Don't forget the free brief fireworks show in front of the Hilton Hawaii Village on Friday nights only. We saw them set off at 7:45p by the lagoon. It's amazing how many people attend so be prepared for the crowds to and from. Big tip: make open table reservations for all your restaurants months ahead! All places are super busy until about 8:45 pm on most nights. Hope I helped.

The Banyan Wing is the original Victorian-era building which is listed on National Historic Registry and houses the main lobby and restaurant. The number of guests and visitor who circulate through this property daily is incredible. Including the Tower and Surfrider Wings, it has 791 rooms. Our Tower room had a great covered patio with incredible views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We spent a lot of time on the patio watching the surfers, catamarans, and enjoying the island breeze. Our balcony was spectacular :o Our room was updated and very comfortable. I understand the owners completed a full renovation of all rooms in 2026. The beach bar is one of the best in the world. Cold cocktails, beer and wine. Good service. Great views! The drawbacks.... The pool is small and very crowded, especially for 791 rooms. With that said everyone in the pool was smiling and having fun. The beach is also pretty small for such a massive hotel. At high tide the hotel only has about 30 feet of beachfront and it is a public beach so it is crowded Rio style. For us this was not a drawback as we love Waikiki, the birthplace of Hawaiian surfing, and spend most of our time in the surf. Hawaii and Waikiki is one of the few places that completely lives us to the hype year after year and generation after generation. We can't wait to return. Aloha & Mahalo

It was centrally located at the beach walk, so ABC Store, shops, restaurants, and the beach were all within walking distance. *It was difficult finding the location of the hotel, when we first arrived. There was no big sign that you can spot, while you're driving, so my landmarks I always looked for were the ABC Store and Denny's. STAFF/SERVICE: Everyone that we came across during our stay was very friendly, generous, kind, and attentive. A shoutout to the Valet Service crew, especially RJ. One of the important standards I look for in a hotel stay, is a focus on supporting locals. For me, if there's a Starbucks in the lobby, then I'm already disappointed. This hotel has one of my favorite local chain cafes, Honolulu Coffee Company. The only local café that has consistently made perfect crema foe decades. Starbucks baristas are not trained for this. The hotel also has restaurants with lots of local flavor. The sushi buffet is amazing but difficult to get a reservation on the weekends. 100 Sails also has a buffet though ordering ala cart seemed like the best choice for us. We booked the Club Premier package, and we felt it was worth it because breakfast at 100 Sails Restaurant on the 3rd floor was excellent every morning. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is not included with your stay and must be paid for separately, which is something to factor into the overall cost. One big concern was the snacks on the 5th floor. We came across moldy bread, which was definitely concerning. I would think the staff would check the food before putting it out, especially considering this is not a cheap hotel. I loved that we could grab coffee every morning from Honolulu Coffee without having to leave the hotel. The lines can get long, but the service is fairly quick. The staff, overall, were not very welcoming and often seemed serious. However, on Monday, June 29, there was an older woman who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She really stood out and made us feel appreciated. One other issue was that the body wash in our room was never refilled, so we ended up not having any during our stay. We also requested a later check out and our key cards aren't working. The front desk never mentioned anything about need to change keys cards if we had a later check out and now we're outside our rooms having to go back downstairs and change our key cards. And they were making it complicated because they wanted my drivers license even though it's in the room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the beautiful views, great amenities, and delicious breakfast made it a memorable family vacation.

Once my room became available I dropped off my luggage and then went directly to the beach. When I returned I did notice some areas of concern where the room was not very well cleaned. Instead of calling housekeeping I went directly downstairs to the front desk. Front desk personnel were busy as there were only 2 people assisting the long line of quests. I decided I'll just deal with the room uncleanliness later. Please be advised that I did take pictures. Once I checked out on Sunday, March 8th, I advised the front desk personnel my concerns. The manager Ira listened to my concerns as I showed her my pictures. She immediately apologized and ask that I email the pictures to their corporate office. Which I did once I arrived back to the mainland. In the room there's a finger or toenail clipping on the carpet between the console and couch. Also you can also see that portion of the carpet has not been vacuumed. The clothed bench in front of bed was extremely stained and filthy. So filthy that I covered the bench with a bath towel if I needed to sit down. Also the refrigerator was very dirty. I chose not to put any food items in the fridge because of this. Also the bottom of the toilet is stained with either fecal matter, urine or maybe it's rust. If so, clean it then use caulking. These are the concerns I have with room 403. Hopefully I'll be hearing from upper management in regards to my unpleasant stay in room 403. The best part of staying at this hotel was the show Auana which is located at this hotel. Needless to say I will not stay at this hotel again.

I love that it is in the heart of Waikiki, very walkable to shopping and nightlife should you want to leave the grounds of the resort. The nightly local music with hula under the sky is magical. Reservations for dinner, or grab a first come first serve cocktail table at 5 to watch the sunset! There is also nightly jazz in the bar. La Mer is a one of a kind French experience and Orchids is fantastic for any meal of the day. Just outside the hotel is a delightful oceanfront park where the hotel hosted yoga each day. A highlight for me. Great poolside service. The beach is small, so if you are looking to lounge on the beach, that's not really much of an option. This hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. So you know it has the highest standards. That brand has never steered me wrong. And the fact that it is not under a massive hotel chain umbrella means it can maintain its authentic individuality. Pro tip: if you have a late flight, there is a lounge where you can relax and prepare for your departure, as check out is 11am.

Extremely rude and unprofessional service coming from one of the male bartenders…read more I was accosted while coming out of the restroom , with him frantically asking if I paid the tab, treating me like some sort of criminal. The restroom is in the restaurant area. I never once left the restaurant throughout the entire evening. I was simply on my way to pick up my drink from the seating area and then head to the bar to pay. He told me I was "going the wrong way" when the way I was going would have led to me to the bar... The way this team handles tabs in this bar is abysmal. Right when I sat down, I was attempting to give my bartender my credit card to start a tab. They refused to accept my card and said don't worry about it, and that they'll take it after I'm done. I explicitly told the bartender that I was going over to the lawn right next to the bar (still in the restaurant area) to get a better view of the musical performance, drink in hand. They said go ahead. Nobody should be treated like this

Pretty high end hotel that was recently remodeled (still undergoing some construction though). We…read morebooked through Amex's FHR and they upgraded us to a room that was perfect for a view of the Hilton Hawaii Village fireworks on Friday nights. The room was so clean and quiet. I slept like a baby in the king sized bed! I also liked how there was a small kitchen with cookware and a microwave. We were celebrating a minimoon and were gifted a bottle of champagne, a bar of chocolate, and a lovely fruit platter. Service was impeccable, from check-in to dining to pool service. Breakfast was included in our stay and the food was quite impressive. Not only do you get the breakfast buffet, but you get to order as many small plates as you'd like (mind you, they're already quite filling), and one large plate. You can also take your leftovers to go. Honestly, I would eat breakfast and be set until dinner most days. At the pool, they also brought around ice cream or smoothies to keep guests refreshed. They did so pretty frequently. The pool was also never super busy, which was nice as we just came from another hotel where the pool was constantly packed. You do get a small view, but it's mostly blocked by other buildings. There's a decent gym that also was never super busy. It's on the same floor as the spa. We contemplated treatments, but ultimately never went.

This hotel deserves more than 5 stars!…read more We've never been so impressed with a resort on the islands that we would think about going again in the same year! Great location, very accessible to stores and the beach, and also secluded in a sense you're not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We came as a family of three. Not only did they gave us a warm welcome, but they provided plenty of accommodations for our baby. A baby robe which was the cutest, but also a diaper genie baby bath tub and toiletries. We were so impressed! The room views were amazing and our room was upgraded which was a super plus! Breakfast was amazing! Our favorites were their mochi pancakes. They did have construction during our stay, but nothing to really get in our way. The service and accommodation were amazing! Thank you for our great stay Ka La'i! See you hopefully soon!
