We were able to book one of their penthouse suites last minute after we had a pool mishap at the Airbnb we were originally booked to stay (the pool was under renovation despite confirming prior to our arrival); the pool at this hotel was great; the bartender at the pool was honestly the reason we stayed. There was on-site breakfast for purchase available and that made it convenient to plan our mornings. We really wanted to like this hotel given how close it was to everything on Kalakaua Avenue; however, the bed at our penthouse suite was questionable. It was essentially 2 twin beds mushed together to create a king bed and I kept falling in between the two beds; we had to ask cleaning staff to clean our rooms; otherwise, they would have never entered; and the kicker, we found a live cockroach crawling underneath our mini fridge. We were about done with this place by the time we were scheduled to fly back home. Gotta say, I understand hotels are generally smaller in Hawaii, but I've stayed at a ton of nice hotels (the Palazzo at the Venetian in Vegas; Kimpton Hotel Vintage in Portland) and Hotel La Croix's penthouse suite was lackluster. My family joined us in Hawaii this year and stayed at Hotel La Croix on the 12th floor and were without power for 3-days. While there was a flash flood, many surrounding hotels, restaurants and entertainment shops had electricity. Somehow, Hotel La Croix did not. The process of restoring the power, mental clarity and communication did not exist. When my family asked the staff if the breakfast could be comped on night 2 of no power, the answer was no - the breakfast still came with a fee. One of my family members is required to have medicine refrigerated. My dad was smart enough to move the fridge into the bathroom where at one point, one outlet was working. Contrary, that outlet along with every light, elevator, hot water, and AC went down on night 3. My family is 70 years old and had to walk up 12 flights of stairs with flashlights. In addition, the room continues to be hot and there still haven't been any talks of hotel reimbursement or reassurance on a restoration of power timeline. This is unacceptable. For every person who stayed this long with a power outage and cold water deserves better. Management you must make this right. Cold showers, no AC, walking up flights of stairs, medication going bad because of a lack of refrigeration is not any standard of an operating hotel. The lack of communication to guests and no generator is unforgivable. The travelers to Hawaii deserves better. Make this right!! read more

I went to urgent care on Sunday, ER on Monday, and doctor again yesterday because of stomach inflammation/gastritis. After eating and swallowing liquids, it hurt. I called hotel La croix 2x on Sunday to dispute it, get a refund, or credit, as I booked through airbnb and rly thought I was going so I had no issue with the non-refundable, but I thought they would be sympathetic, but the lady on the phone was rude and said I had to go through airbnb. When I called and talked with airbnb, they told me I have to talk to the hotel. I'm unable to dispute a refund through the resolution center, so airbnb and hotel are greedy. Airbnb said hotel is refusing to refund me my $221. That money could have gone toward my medical bills. I would have been open to hotel credit for the future, as I always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I decided not to since I have to watch what I eat and drink since it all hurts me. Stress can make gastritis worse and they made my stomach worse too by being rude and not agreeing to the refund. Read TripAdvisor for other bad reviews about them! read more

Highly recommend! A great hotel with great service and the location is excellent, 10-15 minutes to the beach , 10 minutes to the downtown Waikiki. 5-10 minutes to the food court. If I could give this place a zero I would. This hotel is very dated and mismatched furniture in all the rooms. Rugs are stained in bedrooms. Sheets looked clean still I started itching. Tried talking to management to get refund on the dirty room no budge on refund. They don't care you have medical issues they just want your money. If you want a ghetto hotel close to Waikiki with substandard accommodations this is the place. They even have loud old dudes trying to get people to drink. Very annoying when you're trying to rest. We stayed here back in July and it was a decent stay. The location isn't too far from the airport and it's about a 10 minute walk to the busier parts of Waikiki. Some things to note about our stay: - pretty close to airport and the "strip" - lobby has a water refill station - list of amenities were given to us, including in room dining and beach rentals / purchases - kiosk was available to use to peruse for activities - room was decent sized - comfortable bed; on the firm side - pillows also on the decent side; firm but a bit high - in room fridge - personal "balcony" - shower's water pressure was good - shower amenities small; personal sized items but can ask for more - shower was definitely outdated - toilet flapper was broken so the toilet kept running every few seconds; unable to hear it much with the door closed; fixed it by having it stop against lid - AC unit was great, kept the room cool - front door wasn't very heavy so it didn't close well, had to make sure every time we went in and out of the room The check in staff was great. Kansas helped check us in and was very kind and even gave recommendations. Any time we saw him during our trip, he'd ask us how things were and what plans we had! There is no onsite parking so the options were either valet for ~$45/night with in and out privileges or risk it elsewhere for ~$35/night but no guarantees of in and out privileges and how close/far it would be to the hotel. I would say the hotel in general would be a 3 star (just your average hotel) but the location brings it up for me. I stayed at the hotel for three nights on a recent visit. You can tell this is an older hotel but it has been renovated well. However, when I tell you the staff offered top-notch customer service would be an understatement. While they were all great Vince, Cheeky and Quinton were who met us at check in were the best! Making sure all our needs were met, giving direction and suggestions on places to visit and/or eat and also very personable. The breakfast was delicious and the gentleman working that area(whose name I forget)was absolutely amazing too. Wow wow wow. I have not experienced this type of customer service in years. The room I recently stayed in did not have a vent or fan in the bathroom so it was very steamy in the bathroom, we got towels that were dirty and requested clean towels and they never came, the gentleman that got our car for us the day we were leaving was very rude...he got the car and parked it on the side and walked away...didn't say hi, we didn't get a goodbye...he literally left the keys in the car and walked back to the garage. We didn't get to check in till way after our original scheduled check in time and neither did like 30 other people. Waited in line while essentially one guy assisted everyone. He was very nice and explained no one cleaned the rooms. So hours later we got to check in just to find our room dirty. I spoke with another guy who was extremely rude, the last thing you want to do is sit waiting for hours after travel to get into your room. The bald headed dude should be fired along with the cleaning staff, hotel was just not well kept I would advise to avoid if you don't want to sit and twiddle your thumbs for hours waiting for your room to be ready. Just got back from a quick last-minute three day trip to Oahu for my birthday. Booked this hotel for the location and the rates, also had great reviews on TripAdvisor. We are so so so so glad we chose this hotel! First of all, they have a really good local discount, and the price can't be beat for this class of hotel. The rooms are small, but have been renovated and are quite clean. We had a king room with a nice size TV and a good size fridge/freezer. We really appreciate it. They have a free ice machine and filtered water machine as well as a microwave. My husband has a pretty strict diet so we tend to bring food with us on vacation and he was able to use the big fridge in the microwave quite often. They also have quite operated laundry if you need it The housekeeping staff were so kind and friendly and super helpful, offering us extra towels and supplies whenever we saw them in the hall. The highlight of this hotel is the staff. From the second we walked in, John greeted us, (I recognized his name from the TripAdvisor reviews) and when I mentioned it, he just lit up! He lives up to all the review hype!! Apparently he is also a dream at the poolside bar, so make sure you go see him! Speaking of the poolside bar, we were so lucky to have Vincent as our bartender, he is SO sweet, so nice, makes incredible drinks and was so cute to make a big deal about my birthday . We had the best time just chatting away with him, I could've spent all day up there hanging with him . AND the drinks are absolutely delicious! The ube piña colada and the mango mule were so delish! The pool also has a nice deck with chairs and lounging couches and large outdoor games like Connect 4 and Jenga. The infinity pool is small and definitely heated and has a nice view of the city because it's on a upper floor. Super clean pool and deck area, awesome for lounging with a great vibe. We also had the amazing pleasure of meeting Shaun Kennedy, the ops manager - what a guy!! Ended up chatting with him for a long time and he also went way out of his way to celebrate my birthday - he and Vincent put a happy birthday song on the speakers by the pool and brought cheesecake with a candle! I felt so special. Then when I got back to my room, Shaun had arranged a surprise in our room- a cake made out towels arranged on the bed and a box of macadamia nut chocolates Whoever is doing the hiring here should win a gold medal and all these folks should get raises or bonuses because they are the reason we'll be coming back!! Alice at the front desk was also so sweet and so friendly and helpful. We will definitely make this our go-to hotel when we come to the island. Hotel La Croix was an amazing stay! The staff were extremely friendly. Our personal favorites were the front desk staff, Vince and Kansas! Both were extremely personable and answered any questions we had. The rooms were just what we needed since we were adventuring during the day. I do wish there was a thicker comforter, but they did provide me an extra blanket which was perfect. And I wish they had little moisturizers like the shampoo/conditioner, but that is so minimal. But overall it was a great stay and I definitely would be back! read more

The pool is not an infinity pool. The breakfast which ranges from $10-$20 depending on when you decide to have breakfast, was the worst continental breakfast of any hotel or motel I've ever stayed at. There was no milk, the eggs were made from powder, the cantaloupe was sliced as thin as paper, there was no flavor for the plain oats, the muffin options were half just cornbread. There was no bacon. The yogurt was overly sweet, but not flavored and served in one large bowl for everyone to scoop from. The only breakfast meat was sausage. I didn't like the French toast, but my partner thought it was fine. There was no cereal. White rice was interesting to offer. And there was also miso soup. There are three small pools next to each other, but none of them are a hot tub. The breakfast was 0 stars. Charging $20 for powdered eggs, paper-thin cantaloupe/pineapple, flavorless oats, no milk for cereal or coffee, sausage, and French toast as the options, plus white rice/miso soup is actually crazy. And the breakfast area was incredibly small and stuffy. Not sure why it was called a terrace since there was no fresh air - it was completely closed in. read more

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at this hotel we both agree this hotel is more suitable for couples or individuals that are just doing a simple getaway or staycation. If you have a big family with children you may want to stay some where else where it's more family oriented only saying that because it's a very simple hotel to stay at. The saltwater pool was something we visited every morning. We noticed if you go later during the day it gets crowded around 4pm and it's a small pool. But it's super nice when you have the pool to yourself so you can actually swim in it. Our room (terrace penthouse) was simple and small the terrace its self was nice to just hang out during mornings and nights. The bathroom was spacious. The beds and pillows were okay it isn't anything luxurious so just a heads up on that. The monkey pod room however came in handy. It's a cute little esthetic room that offers drinks and snacks up until 8pm. It came with the room we went with you'd have to pay if your room doesn't come with the monkey pod access. Customer service: Customer service was awesome! Kansas is a wonderful individual his hospitality is amazing so we just want to say thank you Kansas for making us smile and laugh and we notice how hard you work!!! Upon check out Kansas was working front and valet which I can only imagine how hectic it could be with it just being him. Your hard work and efforts are not unnoticed we appreciate you!!! Kaya did a wonderful job at checking us in as well thank you to the both of you !!! Bartender John was amazing as well!!! His hospitality was so comforting!! Staff is amazing at Hotel La Croix. I came for my friend's birthday and I wasn't sure about upgrading rooms if available. On arrival they let us take a look at the terrace room for upgrade. We decided we'd rather stick with two beds and not go for a single bed terrace room. The staff was so accommodating and kind about all of it. They are very personable and always looking to offer customer service at the lobby asking if you need any assistance. Location is good. It's about 15 minute walk to the main downtown shopping of Honolulu or the beachso you won't need your car unless you want to go to other areas of the island! My only con is that the gym is only open 8am-8pm. I like to try to leave a hotel by 8:30/9 to explore for the day and an earlier workout would be a bonus. read more

Although the price was very affordable, the hotel obviously wasn't a 5-star resort or anything like that. Basic rooms, for a low price (compared to anything else in the area). But during my recent stay, a few things really threw me off. In the morning, someone actually opened our door while me and my friends were asleep (yes, we double locked it and had the "Do Not Disturb" sign up). Luckily, one of my friends woke up, said "hello," and the person immediately closed the door. Pretty sure it was a staff member or housekeeping, but still very unsettling. On top of that, the Kama'aina parking discount wasn't honored. I was told I'd get 25% off ($45 regular rate) and that it would come off my deposit, but I ended up being charged full price. **THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE - A COMPLETE SCAM** If you value your time, money, and sanity, **DO NOT STAY AT HOTEL LA CROIX.** This place is an absolute joke from top to bottom, run by a team of **clueless, incompetent staff** who have no business working in hospitality. ### **A DISASTER FROM CHECK-IN** It took **AN HOUR** just to check in from one of the teenage girls who I didn't get the name of. That should've been the first red flag. But it only got worse. We had to move rooms **FOUR TIMES** because this place **can't get anything right.** **First room?** **ALREADY OCCUPIED.** Imagine walking in on someone's belongings everywhere. What if they had been naked? Or worse? This is a MAJOR security issue. And what did we get? A pathetic "sorry" from **Kaya**, one of the two **teenage-level IQ** front desk girls who I'm going to call **Dumb & Dumber.** Honestly, this should be a **fireable offense.** **Second room?** **LEAKING FRIDGE.** Back down to the front desk we go. This time, **Kansas**, the so-called manager, gets involved and throws us a **laughable** discount--dropping valet from $45 to $38 (as if that makes up for their complete incompetence) and comping **ONE NIGHT** of the resort fee. Oh, and an "upgrade" to a **two-balcony room.** ### **THE USELESS "UPGRADE" & MORE ROOM CHANGES** This "upgraded" room? **A joke.** One of the balconies was **literally useless**, stuck in front of the door with **no furniture.** The **only** difference was a **small Keurig and a red fridge.** But we were exhausted and tried to make it work--until we realized **the AC didn't work.** We kept the thermostat at **61 degrees for TWO DAYS** and the room stayed a stuffy **70 degrees.** So once again, we asked to move. **Kansas, being the unhelpful tool that he is, tried to stop us from switching rooms.** He even sent maintenance up to "confirm" if the AC was broken. The maintenance guy--who, by the way, was **more competent and sympathetic than Kansas**--checked in **two minutes** and said, **yeah, it's hot in here.** No kidding. Then we moved--**again.** Not even to the same upgraded room, but at this point, we just wanted a room that worked. ### **MYSTERIOUS CHARGES & MORE SCAMS** Just as we thought the nightmare was over, we checked the bank account and saw **mysterious charges:** - **$244.77** - **$379.08** - **$675.88** FOR WHAT?! We **already paid for our stay online.** When we confronted Kansas, his first excuse was **blaming Expedia.** But after **another** hour-long battle, he was suddenly able to **waive all the charges.** **HOW CONVENIENT.** Valet fees started at **$45, then $38, then $22, then suddenly FREE.** Resort fees? First, **one night waived, then half, then all of it.** Was Kansas **pulling numbers out of his ass?** This place is a scam, plain and simple. And after all that? Their idea of an apology was a **box of chocolate macadamia nuts.** **Are you kidding me?** ### **OTHER ISSUES BECAUSE WHY NOT?** - **Dumb & Dumber (Kaya included) wouldn't even make eye contact with us** after their constant screw-ups. Yeah, I'd be embarrassed too if I were that useless. - **Beach towels aren't included.** You have to **PAY EXTRA.** What the hell are the resort fees even for?! - The final room still had issues: **dirty sugar packets, filthy floors that turned our feet BLACK, and a toilet that sounded like a jet engine and needed a double pump to fully flush.** ### **THE ONLY GOOD THINGS?** - **Valet was actually good.** The valet guys were the ONLY competent workers at this hotel. - **Baby Jean is a saint.** The one and only staff member who actually cared about making things right. She showed us multiple rooms, helped us move, and tried to salvage this disaster of a stay. Give this girl a raise and fire everyone else. ### **FINAL VERDICT: NEVER STAY HERE. EVER.** Hotel La Croix is a **SCAM.** The management is **useless,** the front desk is run by **Dumb & Dumber**, the rooms are broken, the AC doesn't work, and they will **randomly charge your credit card hundreds of dollars** just to see if you'll notice. It's a disaster; our door handle literally fell off one morning as we left our room, the shower water does not get hot, front desk staff told us it's the best they have, the ac broke and was eventually fixed but it was so hot until then, the road noise was absurd, the amount of sirens disrupted sleep for 5 nights, there is no jacuzzi, no microwave in our room, incredibly loud, dirty as all get out and the shower didn't drain, it was a pool of dirty water as you shower. Booked last minutes for the Christmas trip for a good deal. The resort fee was included on my package and I got $50 credits for food only. Got an upgrade for gold corner studio which has 2 balconies. The room is nice and clean. Got a welcoming package which includes bottle waters and macadamia chocolates. The room has coffee maker, iron, and fridge. The hotel has fitness and pool facility. The receptionist was very nice. They stored our bags after checkout. It's very convenient that they had an ABC store near the lobby area. The location is great. Only 5-10 min walking distance to Waikiki shopping center. We used our credit and order food using the room service. The food is like a store bought food where they just heat it in the oven and serve it to us. The price is also different when you order through receptionist compare to their website. read more

Quick weekend trip with my fiance. Booked a silver king room through the Capital One Travel portal / credit card. Total for 3 nights came out to $626 + $141 in hotel fees paid upon check in. Valet parking on site is $45+tax and there is no self parking. Some of the streets around the hotel does have parking though so you may get lucky and skip the valet parking fee. Check in was easy and the front desk reception was very nice. We arrived at 1pm and our room was ready (although I did call the night before to ask about early check in - not sure if this helped). They give you free water bottle upon check in as well, along with a single print out page containing WiFi details, gym information, and other amenities (beach chair and beach umbrella is FCFS, along with $12 beach towel to purchase - I thought this was a nice touch). I would rate the check in process as a 5/5. However, the room itself was a 3/5 and would sway me to not stay here again. As other reviews have said, the pictures on the hotel website makes the room like nicer than it really is. Upon entering our room, there was some sort of cleaner/disinfectant smell mixed with a tinge of old or antique smell - very hard to describe. It's not the worse but it's also not great. The bed also had no headboard even though the bed in the website does. On the website, there also is no picture of the bathroom from what I could find. The bathroom itself is a bit dated, more so on the shower side. There was also construction going on at the building across from our room so I wouldn't necessarily sit outside on the balcony or leave the blinds open, unless you don't mind. AC for the room worked great though and even got a bit too cold for us so we turned it down. The in room fridge is quite spacious so that's good. All in all, this hotel is good for a quick 1 or 2 night solo stay, or if you deem the quality of the room up to your standard. I personally would not stay here for a honeymoon or any sort of romantic getaway, unless you do not plan on staying in your room much and only need a place to sleep. I would much rather pay an extra $300-$400 and stay at Alohilani if I were to return. read more

I booked a silver king room through Chase Travel for my upcoming trip. Tried to chat with the hotel through their website to confirm that my reservation is in their system but was told to email. Tried calling the hotel through multiple numbers but no luck reaching them. It said for the fastest response, text them, which I tried as well. I was getting a little frustrated that it was so difficult to get in touch with the hotel.. Finally reached out through email and they responded, but the confirmation they sent didn't match with what I booked. It stated that I had booked a city view penthouse, when I didn't. I was concerned because I didn't want to pay for something I didn't book, so I emailed back. Apparently they upgraded me! I was still a little wary though so I wanted to speak to a representative for further clarification. They were happy to schedule a call with me and in the end... I really did get a free upgrade to the city view penthouse! Things like this normally don't happen to me so I was shocked! Parking at hotel la croix is valet only, which there can certainly be pros and cons to. Valet staff were quick and friendly and got the job done! We met Brandon at the front desk. He was really chill and we enjoyed our conversation with him as he was getting us checked in. We loved our little penthouse suite and for us, the construction going on across the street wasn't a problem at all. The hotel has a fitness center on the 5th floor and we also had access to the monkey pod lounge on our terrace level which was super cute! Free water bottles, soda cans, coffee, snacks... We also checked out the bar by the pool where we ordered an Ube colada and a mango mule. Happy hour is 12-2 and 4-5 for $7 mai tais and $13 cocktails! Vincent was the bartender. Nice guy! We also ran into Craig as we were waiting for valet. He was super sweet, asked us where we're headed for the day, and even recommended us to try the Hawaiian shochu company once I shared that we were heading to the north shore. Loved talking to him! Overall, what stood out to me the most was how super freaking friendly everyone is.. from valet to front desk to bartender to housekeeping.. we really felt welcome here. Everyone was so so so kind. Hotel was also close enough to easily walk to the beach and shops. And there's an ABC store downstairs! Absolutely loved it here :) read more

We loved our stay at hotel la Croix! This hotel offers a unique location right next to many stores and shops in Waikiki and short walking distance to the beach! It is also very close to many bus stops and has its own ABC store. We enjoyed the balcony, pool, and excellent service this hotel provides. We definitely would choose to stay here again! read more

If you're looking for a 2 maybe three star spot near the strip that's what you get here and the price is reasonable. Wasn't a fan of the smell of the hotel or the sand tracked into my room upon arrival. It's decent if you can get over that part. read more

This hotel was really great! I, initially, was looking for an AirBnb in Makaha or 'Nalo, but found this place. I checked their website and was impressed. I booked the hotel stay, a silver room, to celebrate my wife and I's 7th wedding anniversary. During booking, everyone was extremely helpful and, more importantly, very patient with me. On the day of, my wife and I were ready to get started. They allowed us to check-in early for a $50 fee, but they offered us a complementary upgrade to a gold corner room. Thank you! I dropped my wife off while I went to park the car on the street. They checked us in and we were good to go. The room was a great size. The A/C was really good and strong. The TV selections were great. We enjoyed the fridge and matching Keurig. There was great water pressure. The pool area was small but when we went there were only 3 other people there so it worked out great and comfortable. Highlights & Complements: - The staff was very kind, helpful, patient, and generous. - They have a number to text where you can communicate with the staff for any necessities you need. - They offered us access to the Monkeypod Room since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Thank you! - They decorated our bed with a little anniversary decor and note. - Location is perfect for Waikiki and Ala Moana. We had a great time and wish our stay was longer!
