We always get our neighbors donuts for Christmas and this is our favorite place to grab these delicious little pieces of heaven as gifts. There's two locations (one downtown and one in Carolina beach). They are always super consistent in taste and my kids absolutely love them (I always use them as a bribe to get them to behave). They have just about every flavor, color, and style of donut you could imagine. The apple fritters are my go to and they are bigger than my head. The potato chip and maple bacon are in close second place! However, this donut shop does only sell what they have and close when they sell out. There have been times where I have shown up pretty early in the morning and they are already closed... which is always a bummer. You also have to enjoy these within the first 24 hours because they are a completely different story the next day. The turn into rocks as soon as the sun goes down. They also are on the more expensive side but you are getting good ingredients and well made donuts so it makes up for it. This might have been the best donut I have ever tasted! There was SO MANY options to choose from, with one looking even yummier than the next. After way too much time trying to make a decision, I chose the Butterfinger Bash donut. The donut itself tasted very fresh and was light and airy. This is for the Carolina Beach location, NOT downtown Wilmington. I don't eat donuts, but I like a good coffee. So my rating probably isn't as high as a donut-lover's would be. I can say that I was blown away by the sheer number and types of donuts in this place! I made a quick grocery run to the Food Lion next door, during a camping trip to nearby Kure Beach. It was early morning and I didn't have coffee before leaving camp (nobody else was up), so I really wanted some. I generally drink decaf or half caff, and was surprised when asked to wait while they brewed decaf. I would assume a donut shop would have both kinds of coffee always at the ready. Stopped by this place while in town for the weekend because some friends couldn't stop bragging about the place! And boy, oh boy were they right! I highly recommend going early as possible for more flavor options. We got there late in the evening so only could get what was left but wasn't disappointed. You can tell the staff was excited about us being there and trying out there bakery. The triangle donut was a whole slice of pumpkin pie inside of a donut! Ohhhhh Em Geeeee it was delicious! I had heard that these were some of the best donuts in all of North Carolina and drove an hour and a half just to get here only for it to be closed at 1:00 p.m. If they're not going to be open during their posted hours they should change them. Well, let's just say...boy do you have options to pick from at this place! Which is a great thing, but for a food lover like me it can be a bit overwhelming. Everything looked so great. The place is very small and not designed to dine in. But you wouldn't really need to have that option, considering they only sell donuts and milk/drinks. The customer service is where this place lacked. Wilmington being a college town, you can already assume that college kids will be who wait on you in restaurants and businesses around town. However, this girl did not look like she wanted to be there, despite me being nice to her and try asking her questions about the shop and the different doughnuts. She just was not having it. I tried to ask her which ones were popular, her personal favorites, the ones they were known for etc. But she wasn't much help. I ended up picking 6 of the ones that attracted my attention the most. Overall, this place is good. The doughnuts are large and filling. Definitely have a variety of flavors and styles. The price point is a bit high for doughnuts, it was a little over $20 for 6 doughnuts and 2 drinks. I wouldn't necessarily get as many again, probably just get 2. They are good, but not as great as the hype they have built up around them. But I would go back if ever I was in the area and wanted something sweet. read more

Ok. This is just for the downtown Wilmington store. Read all the "great " reviews and since I like a good doughnut , figured lets give them a try. To be honest some of the worst doughnuts I've ever had. Tried 5 different types in a half dozen and all except the cake of the day were terrible. Also ordered an apple fritter. Don't know what it was they gave us but it was not an apple fritter. Almost raw dough in middle with zero apple or anything else. Just a bunch of dough pieces mashed together and dipped in icing. Looked at it. Tasted it ( stale ) and threw it away . All Tasted dry , and to me , like they were day old or more. Except for the red velvet cake. It was a very good doughnut. Ok. Maybe it was an off day ( Sunday morning ) Lets give them a second chance So came back following Wednesday. Not going to try any of the beautiful looking but surely stale doughnuts. I'll go with the cake of the day. Chocolate. No I won't. They don't have any. At 10 am. Got every other doughnut under the sun but the cake of the day...nope No explanation...just a " all we got are these ". Why advertise a doughnut of the day if you're not going to bother to have them?? All around not happy about paying $15 for 6 doughnuts and a fritter and only good one was a $1.25 cake one.
