My hollow tooth finally broke after two years of waiting and hoping that Covid infection rates would improve, so we finally decided it was best to get it soon to. We googled for LGBTQ+ friendly dentists and Walden Dental seemed to be just what we needed. From the moment we walked in and stayed for the next five hours, we were made to feel welcome, assured and best of all listened to. Dr Frank, Emily, Angela and all of them are simply amazing. They calmed all my anxieties and I felt foolish as I sat in the dentist chair feeling spoiled. Throughout the grueling dental procedure (I needed two crowns), I was pleasantly surprised to hear Dr Frank's calm instructions to his assistant; he never once raised his voice. I have been a patient of Dr. Frank for many years now, and rank his practice and staff as the best dentist experience possible. He is thorough, professional, yet very personable - as is his staff. Previously, my experience with dental work was one of trepidation, but not with Dr Frank. Let me start off by saying, I apologize for using the incorrect title. I assumed it was a "manager" she spoke to. I know she went to speak to someone and I didn't get the persons job title. Second, I told you specifically that I was not upset with Dr. Coon. I understand things happen. Yes, I asked him to continue with the root canal and "try" to complete since I was already in the chair, and numb for 2 hours. I told you I was upset with how I was treated by office staff. I went in to your office with tooth pain. I have well cared for teeth and it is again very unprofessional that you would state otherwise and share my private medical history to the public. I would assume this violates HIPAA laws. If Walden Dental only prefers patients without any problems, I wish you would have told me prior to scheduling the root canal. This office is legitimately one of the best places I've been to in recent memory when it comes to my healthcare for anything. Everyone in the office was really nice and accommodating. The dental hygienist had a funny sense of humor and was able to get me all prepped. I had been to several places prior to this and hadn't had the best of experiences. The previous dental offices I went to were either uninformative or weren't straightforward about what I actually needed. Dr. Walden was helpful, informative, and helped me understand the physics and biology of what is going on. I needed a crown for my root canal I got earlier this week and not only did I get that taken care of but they took care of a different crown on the left side of my teeth that I needed based on the evaluation they did. I've been a patient at Walden since the summer of 2019. My first visit was a cleaning and exam followed up by a few crowns in the back of my mouth a couple of weeks later. I've been wanting to have some cosmetic work done on my front teeth for some time. As I get older, my teeth are starting to discolor more and more. Whitening has limited effects since I have fillings on a lot of my teeth due to poor oral hygiene as a child and teenager. Last month I finally decided to pull the trigger and all I can say is WOW. Dr. Frank does awesome work. My smile has never looked so good! I can't believe I waited so long to have the work done. For those who are self-conscious about their smile, like I was, I can tell you having crowns or veneers done is a life changer. I find myself smiling every chance I get, and no longer shy away from people taking pictures. It's difficult to explain in words but having a smile you're proud of will change your entire life. As for the actual work, I was very surprised that it only took about a half day. I arrived in the morning and was out in the early afternoon. Additionally, Dr. Frank was very detail-oriented. He walked me through the whole process and even consulted with me on the shades, shapes, and placement of my new crowns. My goal was to have teeth that looked natural, not fake, but something much whiter and nicer than what I had. Dr. Frank exceeded my expectations in every way. My new teeth turned out AMAZING! I should start out by saying that I do not normally write negative reviews. I try my best to give people the benefit of the doubt and write only positive reviews. I went to Walden Dental for the convenience of the location. They were able to schedule me an appointment after school was out, as a teacher this can be very rare to find and I greatly appreciate not having to take time off from work. In addition, they had many spots open for last minute appointments and it was very easy to schedule your appointment online. My experience was very unique and may have just been a freak accident, but I believe it is worth mentioning to warn others about. I went in for a abscess that occurred from a previous root canal (done by a separate dentist). I went to the dentist who did my root canal, but has since moved out of network, which is how I ended up at Walden Dental. I was told the abscess was large and may require an endodontist to complete. Hearing this I wanted to immediately go to an endodontist and schedule an appointment through them, so I could save some money in the long run. I was persuaded by an assistant that not to worry I would only be charged for the medicine used during the procedure if Dr. Frank was unable to complete it. Due to me leaving on a trip the following week, and the shame and ridicule I received from Dr. Frank when I opted to not have him treat the abscess, I reluctantly decided to let him fix my abscess. I was thrilled when he was able to schedule me in the following day, as this was becoming a dental emergency. The following day I arrived at 1pm and had over 3 hours of drilling done to my tooth to treat the abscess (I left at 5:30pm). After that was done I was given a permanent crown for my tooth. At check out I was told they were not able to complete the abscess, but not to worry they replaced the permanent crown I already had on for a new one. I do understand why I needed a new crown, obviously the old one was allowing bacteria to enter, but why would you put a permanent crown on something that is not finished? Especially since it cost me $800. This seemed very sly since I was never told it was not complete prior to the crown being put on; to my knowledge everything was all complete. My endodontist could not believe they did this. I now have a permanent crown with a drilled hole and filling in it. Lastly, the freak accident that I hope never happens to anyone else is that the drilling into my tooth for over 3 hours almost caused me to have my tooth extracted since there was barely any roots left. It also broke one of my roots which resulted in the abscess growing very quickly into other areas of the tooth that led me to almost be hospitalized. I am not sure if Dr. Frank knew what he was doing or not. My endodontist was able to correct everything in less than 30 minutes. On top of all of this, Dr. Frank spilled some sort of chemical on my jeans and the assistant's shirt which resulted in our clothes being bleached. I was refunded for the cost of my jeans, which I appreciate. Now I know not to come to the dentist in my nicer work clothes. Overall, I felt that Walden Dental was just after my money. Especially since the assistant and person at the desk ensured me I would only be charged for the medicine used, but left with a bill over $1,000 due to the permanent crown. I appreciate his availability for his patients, especially ones on tight schedules. Unfortunately, it did not make up for all the damage that was done. I have since been to an endodontist and another dentist that are both shocked at my experience. read more

Today was my first visit my appointment was at 3:10 and I didn't leave till 5:00. NOT because of waiting but because they were THAT thorough with my x-rays and cleaning! The last dentist I visited told me the tooth that was causing me discomfort and pain was going to end up needing to be removed, and today Dr. Frank and my dental hygienist Juli told me that wasn't the case at all and they had a simple solution for my pain and booked my appointment for the fix! Never have I ever been to a dental office where the dentist took a moment of his time to get to know you and introduce himself a little, that right there made me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed! I have been to several other dentist in the area trying to find a new general dentist. What I have found, unfortunately, in my area are a bunch of dishonest, scammer dentist. I have spent the last year getting a bone graft and an implant for my front tooth due to a failed root canal (childhood accident with pavement- I did not win) it has been an extremely costly and irritating ordeal. I needed my teeth cleaned and Zoom whitened before I get my front tooth crown (implant crown). I went ahead a scheduled a cleaning appointment with Dr. Frank. I have had other "cleaning" appointments at other dentist where they did not actually clean my teeth, but spent time counting the depth between my gums and my teeth with a periodontal tool (mesmerizing process this is BTW). In turn to tell me that I needed extra treatments which cost thousands of dollars... So when I went to my appointment at Walden Dental I was expecting the same thing BUT...it didn't happen. He cleaned my teeth..like for real. I was shook! Told me to come back in 6 months all was good. He is thorough, he takes the time to explain things, but the biggest thing for me is - He is honest. He didn't try to get thousands off me with unnecessary procedures. He told me what I needed and why and that's it. He has given me options for other things, but is not pushy. Dr. Dave and his staff are excellent. I loathe going to the dentist and these folks find a way to make it a comfortable environment. It's not "stuffy" like other places I've been, it's a little more light hearted and that helps make the experience, for me. I've had a crown done and deep gum cleaning (by Emily) and both were done exceptionally quick (having been through both experiences before), and they are always making sure you are comfortable through the process. Dr. Dave is also a triathlete, which makes for good dialogue, whenever I don't have a drill in my mouth. Would recommend without hesitation and this practice is my go-to! read more

I've been meaning to post a review for Walden Dental for some time now, but I keep putting it off because I know how challenging it will be for me to put into words just how grateful I am for Dr. Frank and his team. Every time I go to Walden Dental, I find myself repeatedly saying "thank you" to the staff because with every step, from making the appointment to leaving the door with strong, clean teeth, they go above and beyond. Not only are my cleanings and treatments excellent, but the hospitality is exceptional. I feel welcome and comfortable (in a genuine way, not in a fake smile-y way). The pricing is incredibly fair. And, most importantly, the pricing is transparent. You know what you will pay before your appointment. I have never been pressured into purchasing services that I did not ask for. I was never offered whitening treatments or cosmetic services. I have Delta Dental insurance and am happy with what I pay (I am in a lower income bracket, so this is saying something). My husband does not have insurance and requires some extensive treatments which are higher priced, but we consider the cost to be fair because of the quality of treatment he is receiving can't be found anywhere else. Walden also provides an "insurance" plan of their own for clients without dental insurance. I don't really know what else to say. I never thought I'd feel so strongly about a Dentist's office, but I am truly grateful to Dr. Frank and his staff for how much they have helped me and my husband. It gives me peace of mind to know that, if I have any problems, our dental procedures will be comfortable and affordable. I would, and do, recommend Walden Dental to everyone I know. read more

This place is terrible. My wife went in for a crown in 2018 without Dental insurance. We were told one price before going but then was $1,000 more when she got there. Now the crown came off. I called and they said to come in and that it would be free to put it back on. Then my wife went in and they wanted $500+ to put it back on. They said that since she had only been in once for a teeth cleaning since then, that they did not have any warranty on the original work done. The Dr was more interested in arguing than solving the problem. Bottom line, if you do not plan on getting your teeth cleaned every 6 months, do not expect them to warranty their shotty work. Even then, I would expect they would try to find a way for you to pay them for something. I called another Dentist, and they said without insurance (she has insurance now, but for reference), they would charge $120 to put the crown back on. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. BAD WORK. BAIT AND SWITCH PRICING. VERY RUDE. NO WARRANTY ON SERVICES PROVIDED WITHOUT TEETH CLEANINGS DONE EVERY 6 MONTHS. Dr. Frank is argumentative and rude. I was talked into getting a CERCEC crown for a molar in need of a crown. The sales pitch at the time was...."this is the state of art material for crowns. They are made in shop on a 3D printer. 5 warranty if anything goes wrong." So, I had Dr Frank do the crown. Within a few months the crown came off but fortunately I didn't swallow it and they were able to put the crown on again. Fast forward almost two years and while eating a meal (smoked turkey breast), the crown apparently broke in half. I called the office to explain what happened and was reminded that the crown carries a 5 year warranty. I made an appointment and after sitting in a dental chair for almost one hour, Dr Frank came in to see my tooth. After listening to his explanations (i.e excuses), I was basically told it was my fault the crown broke because I grind my teeth, it's a back tooth that receives a lot of pressure and I FAILED TO COME IN FOR CLEANINGS AT THEIR OFFICE. I was given a lame analogy about how cars need oil changes like teeth need cleanings blah, blah, blah. At the end of the day, they refused to honor the warranty because I didn't come in for cleanings (even in the covid world we live in). Yes, that's probably in the fine print which technically/legally would put them under no obligation to honor the warranty. Was the decision not to honor the warranty morally and ethically appropriate? In my opinion, absolutely not. I even asked Dr Frank if the lack of a cleaning or two caused the crown to fail and he said something to the effect of "I can't say it did or it didn't" Nice! I've gone for a couple second opinions and both dentists were shocked to hear of my experience and said that wouldn't be the case (must get cleanings there) if I get a new crown with them. So, be sure and understand what you are getting into at Walden Dental. They will try and lock you in for all your cleanings or you'll risk voiding any work that carries a warranty. I was in search for a close-by dental office in the neighborhood and found this one near Sam's club at Lakeline. Staff over the phone was nice and patient to take/check insurance information and quickly set up for my first appointment. Location is very convenient and easy to find. There are enough parking space. When I went in, staff were courteous. Office looked clean and nice, since it's pretty new. Dr. Dave appeared easy going and nice talking to patients. I told him this was my first time to the office and it's been a while since my last dental cleaning because I couldn't find a good dental office. He said he would try his best to help. The staff took x-rays and routine checkup of my teeth before cleaning. Unfortunately although she seemed nice and patient, she didn't do a good job cleaning my teeth. I found a few spots that were not thoroughly clean afterwards, which I should have taken photos for proof. I used 2 dental offices in Hawaii for a decade and they all did well. This was the very 1st time I felt disappointed from the dental cleaning. And then Dr. Dave came in to double check my teeth. He told me my crown/bridge wasn't done well and he could give me a more quality one with better color. I said I would think about it. But I just spent 1500+ dollars on my current one. I don't think I would spend another 1.5k for a new set. When I went back to the front desk, the staff suggested me to have another deep cleaning in additional to the 2 visits covered by my insurance. She said because the suggestion was based upon the fact that I didn't do dental cleaning for a long time. The out of pocket cost would be $65. I told them I need to think about that so I didn't make an appointment. I happened to have a coworker who didn't do dental cleaning for 2 years. He recently found a dentist and went for a cleaning. He was pretty happy with the result. His hygienist did a great job and didn't suggest for a deep cleaning at all. I wonder why mine told me otherwise. read more

This place was awesome. I went there for a second opinion on what another dentist told me just a couple of days prior. I went to Family dental of Cedar Park. They told me I had periodontal disease and I needed a deep cleaning and that I was probably gonna lose my teeth if I didn't go through with this. They would not touch my teeth with even a normal cleaning at all. Then they handed me of what all of this would cost. It was in the range of $1800 and more. I have never in my life had a bad check up at the dentist. So I decided I needed a second opinion. SO I WENT TO WALDEN DENTAL DR. FRANK. They gave me the same exam same x-rays cleaned my teeth the doctor told me that my gums and my teeth are very good condition no deep cleaning needed. My cleaning was painless. What an absolutely magical place--which is something I never thought I would say about a dentist's office! When my dentist of 30+ years retired, I had to find a new spot. Walden Dental was very close by and had great reviews so I gave them a try. I knew I needed some new veneers, and knowing that they could even turn them around the same day was certainly a step above what anyone else was offering. This was the best decision I made in 2020! Dr Frank and Emily make this office feel like a family. I am greeted by name each time I come in for my cleanings. My physical and mental comfort are treated with utmost respect, and I have never worked with an office that is more transparent about everything from care options to insurance coverage. Patients beware. The practice made an appointment without my consent and then they charged me $75 for the pleasure. When asked if they could remove the charge, the office manager, Tiffany, offered to send my records to another practice. Either fraudulent or incompetent and apathetic either way. read more

I recently moved to Austin and needed a new dentist. I recently had some cosmetic work on my front teeth that I wasn't satisfied with. I made an appointment with Dr. Frank after reading several wonderful reviews of his work. After consulting with him, I decided to move forward and have the crowns replaced. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I brought a picture of what the shape of my teeth used to be and Dr. Frank not only replicated it, he made smile better than ever. He is more than a dentist. He is also an artist. I would highly recommend him to anyone and if I ever have to leave the area, I would come back to him for cosmetic work.
