This past weekend, I cracked a tooth. I hadn't been to the dentist in years. At this point I am terrified to see how much all of this is going to cost. I look up my dental insurance insurer, look at their provider list and do a few yelp searches and decided on Walden Dental. I called their office and explained my situation. Tiffany talked with me about my insurance to make sure that everything was squared away prior to me going in, and got me in to see Dr. Frank the same day (within an hour, actually). She was very reassuring telling me that "they had seen it all and nothing scares them" . I went in and sat down to fill out the multitude of forms that come with Dr. visits. In the forms they inquire as to (a) how apprehensive you are (b) would you rather have fewer appointments where a lot gets done, or more appointments doing less, (c) what do you want to focus on i.e. straightening, whitening, strengthening. After that, Dr. Frank sat down and talked to me, and he had actually read the forms! After a comprehensive exam, with x-rays, cleanings etc....we decided to go with two crowns for the day. There was no big upsell, do as much or as little as I felt comfortable with. He outlined all the work I will need to have done and together we decided on an overall game plan going forward, going as fast or slow as I would like. Their office is very beautiful and calming. You can watch Netflix. Dental appointments are so much more soothing when you can have "The Office" streaming in the background. Apparently with all the new technological advances you can have two crowns put on in an afternoon. Who knew? All in all, I highly recommend Walden Dental. Every member of the staff was just exceptional. I don't think I will ever love going to the dentist, but they make a concerted effort to make it as stress-free and soothing as possible. read more

Story time! If you were in Austin on 12/8, you may remember that it was bitterly cold for the area; going to the dentists is an unwelcome task at best, but combined with the cold, it wasn't something I was looking forward to. On top of that, it had been ten years (!) since I last went to a dentist, so I was wary of a preachy dentist. My expectations could not have been any more wrong. The entire staff was helpful, pleasant, and explained every step of the process. Dr. Frank and his staff found a (unsurprising, because again, ten years since my last visit) cavity with an accompany crack in my tooth. Now, dear reader, you may be thinking "wow, maybe they lied to you! You weren't feeling any pain." However, the staff showed me pictures every step of the way, really cluing me into what was wrong with my mouth; even though I'm facing 2k+ dental costs, I feel informed and not misled at all. They helped me out with no-interest financing. I'd name them by name, but I'm aware of online safety-however, if you folks in the office are reading this, you were AMAZING. On top of that, Dr. Frank's bedside manner was one of the best I've had in any doctor. Many of them preach about comfort and pain relief, but Dr. Frank was attentive enough to notice small physiological changes when he stuck me with the needle. He explained every step of the way, and his attitude was collaborative, friendly, positive, attentive, low pressure.... Really, just keep putting on good adjectives you'd use to describe a dentist here. So, in short, I was so impressed that, despite having an impromptu dental procedure involving needles on a very unpleasant morning, I left the dentist's office feeling quite satisfied and optimistic about my dental health. My experience at Walden Dental was truly exceptional. I went in for my appointment after a good friend referred me to Dr. Frank. I hadn't been to the dentist in about 10 years and was extremely nervous because I was experiencing severe pain and was without insurance. The entire staff from the receptionist, dental hygienists, and Dr. Frank did an amazing job at quickly making me feel at ease. They seemed genuinely sympathetic to my situation and I never felt judged for being without insurance and was offered a variety of options to take care of the expenses. Dr. Frank and his staff walked me through what was causing me the pain in my tooth (I was going to need a root canal.) He explained in detail what the game plan would be to get me out of pain and to take care of the infection as quickly as possible, which made me feel confident that I was in the best of hands. Dealing with an expensive dental emergency could have been so much more stressful, but the staff kept me laughing throughout the appointment and having Netflix playing in between different processes really helped to make me feel at home and relieve any anxiety that I was having about going through this experience. After Dr. Frank cleared out the infection and prepped me for my root canal pain free, the receptionist Tiffanie went above and beyond and called the root canal specialist for me and got my appointment set up for the following week. When I went in to the specialist for the actual root canal, even the specialist complimented what a great job Dr. Frank did of setting me to for the actual root canal, saying how he really went above and beyond. I'll be referring all my friend's and family to Walden Dental, and this is will definitely be the dentist office I'll be going to as long as I live in Austin! read more

I've been meaning to post a review for Walden Dental for some time now, but I keep putting it off because I know how challenging it will be for me to put into words just how grateful I am for Dr. Frank and his team. Every time I go to Walden Dental, I find myself repeatedly saying "thank you" to the staff because with every step, from making the appointment to leaving the door with strong, clean teeth, they go above and beyond. Not only are my cleanings and treatments excellent, but the hospitality is exceptional. I feel welcome and comfortable (in a genuine way, not in a fake smile-y way). The pricing is incredibly fair. And, most importantly, the pricing is transparent. You know what you will pay before your appointment. I have never been pressured into purchasing services that I did not ask for. I was never offered whitening treatments or cosmetic services. I have Delta Dental insurance and am happy with what I pay (I am in a lower income bracket, so this is saying something). My husband does not have insurance and requires some extensive treatments which are higher priced, but we consider the cost to be fair because of the quality of treatment he is receiving can't be found anywhere else. Walden also provides an "insurance" plan of their own for clients without dental insurance. I don't really know what else to say. I never thought I'd feel so strongly about a Dentist's office, but I am truly grateful to Dr. Frank and his staff for how much they have helped me and my husband. It gives me peace of mind to know that, if I have any problems, our dental procedures will be comfortable and affordable. I would, and do, recommend Walden Dental to everyone I know. read more

I was you a few months ago - looking for a new dentist. I took the advice I read when someone had wrote to stop looking - you have found your forever dentist and booked my appointment for today. I went in today for my first visit - and I must repeat the wise words relayed to me via another review from another patient. Stop looking and just call and book your appointment. You have found your forever dentist. After being in Austin for 4 years and going through different dentist offices trying to find the right office - I finally found it. What can I say that hasn't been said? The exam and new patient consult was thorough, friendly and efficient. Dr. Frank was awesome in conversation both just general chat as well as the actual feedback on the oral health. Lindsey my hygienist was exceptional in relaying what she was seeing and the next steps of the exam/cleaning all the while ensuring there was no discomfort. Last but not least - the front office which as we all know can make or break the whole patient experience even when the Dr/Dentist is great - is as equally spectacular and more importantly professional. I consider it a blessing that I became acquainted with Dr. Frank . He saved another tooth of mine yesterday . Certain I was going to have to have it pulled , the 35 year old filling deteriorated and was beginning to crack the tooth , I started feeling some pain . Dr Frank was able to remove the old filling , replace it and create a new permanent crown to save the tooth and he also thoroughly clean all my teeth in just 2 hours . I have never been so comfortable in a doctors office , and I never felt any pain during the procedure , didn't even feel the needle for the Novocain . He and his team have always made me and my family feel like a part of their family , they are so friendly and welcoming . WOW, just WOW! I have never had a truly painless encounter in all of my life until I went to Dr Frank. It was an amazing experience. Now I need to say that everyone I encountered in the office was not only pleasant, but went out of their way to ensure that I understood what was happening and that I was comfortable. Smiles all around. I want to mention names, but I am terrible at that so when I say everyone, I mean it. Front desk is great! Hygienist was gentle! Assistants were efficient! I went to Dr. Frank because my original dentist I loved was no longer practicing. I found Dr Frank online because his office was close to home. I had an tooth that had been bothering me for weeks. Dr Frank explain exactly what was going on and what he needed to do. He answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. I need a crown on one of my teeth and they made the crown and put it on my tooth the same day. The staff was awesome. Dr. Frank even called me the following day to see how I was feeling and how the tooth was doing. I've never had a dentist be so detailed oriented and even following up with me the next day. I had a basic 6 months cleaning/xray visit and then a second visit for 2 partial crowns (onlays). And the amazing thing is I'm scheduled to go back for yet another partial crown!! What this says is that Dr. Frank and his staff will dazzle and amaze you with there up to date dental knowledge/skills/equipment!! But maybe even more impressive is their sincere concern for the patients' wellbeing. They go out of their way to be helpful, kind and caring. Dr. Frank and his team are exceptional in their professionalism and quality of dental care. When you walk into their office, you are greeted like I have seen no other office. Their smiles as well as comfort levels they project from beginning to end are the best I have ever seen. So Doc Frank and the entire staff are amazing. I'm a people person and they all have kind and caring personalities which means a lot. I appreciate their expertise and professionalism. I left CA and moved here. I wasn't sure I could find a dentist as good as the one I had in CA BUT I actually found a better one, Doc Frank! His office is super clean and has state of the art equipment. About double what others charge for same services and poor quality of work. You will be quoted one price and charged another. Very confrontational owner as well. Stay FAR away.
