When you stay at a place like the Waldorf Astoria, a visit to the spa is almost a requirement. Given the cold and snowy weather Park City was experiencing at this time, that only sweetened the deal. Speaking of sweetening the deal, the hotel was offering a $100 off special on the 80 minute massage, bringing the price down to earth. The staff at the Front Desk was very friendly and offered a nice tour of the facilities. Unfortunately the locker rooms and steam shower were unavailable (and disappointing) for this visit, but the treatment room is plenty large and comfortable for changing before your service. I hung out in the Fireside Lounge area until Cosette was ready for me. She was fantastic! I carry a lot of tension and soreness in my neck and shoulders and she did a great job of working them out over the course of the 80 minutes. All around a great experience. Really the only complaint I have is not being able to book the massage with the discount through the website. In this age of constant conference calls, it would have been nice to take care of this electronically. read more

On a recent trip to Park City, I decided I'd take a day off from skiing and spent the day at this fabulous spa instead. My friend Ellen joined me and we used the gym, showers, heated relaxation chairs, and took advantage of the quiet lounge in between services. We also had lunch delivered to the spa lounge, which was pricey but tasty. The brow wax and massage were both excellent and the staff was super attentive. The locker room has many fabulous amenities as well. This was a pricey day but not quite as pricey as a day of skiing with rentals, so I have a feeling I'll "take a day off" again in the future in favor of a spa day! I went to the spa today for mother's day and it was okay. I've been to multiple spas in park city and this was by far the least relaxing. There is no spa music, the relaxation area is pretty small/standard. There is one room to relax in other than the steam room and it has 3 chairs so not enough for the people there. The relaxation room also was really nosey, whatever is above that room is dragging things across the floor and people were just very loud in general. The hot tub was occupied by little kids. The steam room had dirty towels in it when we arrived. I definitely expected more coming to a Waldorf Astoria and was just a bit disappointed. Girls trip for weekend. The service was amazingggggg!!! However the drinks were mediocre for the price and the music was SO LOUD and intense. It felt like a day club in Vegas and not a beautiful resort in the mountains. I complained 4 times, including a phone call to the front desk. It was just absolutely painful. Overpriced and basic. Went in for a hydrafacial and received the worst facial i've had so far. The ladies at the front desk are RUDE and refuse to answer any questions regarding services/pricing despite discrepancies on their menu vs what they actually offer. This review has nothing to do with the aesthetician I had who was super nice and sweet, it wasn't her fault that the front desk ladies were rude and uninformative. Was told by the front desk the 50 minute hydrafacial included extractions and never had any done. Got a basic cleanse, hydrafacial and cream rubbed on my face and the facial ended there. I had assumed it would include a facial steam and extractions since I was told it did over the phone. Seems like the ladies at the front desk have no clue about any of the services, as I was put on hold 4 times on the phone due to them not being able to answer any questions regarding facial services. I received a call from them 15 minutes after I made my appointment asking for a credit card number to hold the appointment which seemed unprofessional since they didn't ask me during the original call. Currently none of the added services at the spa are open due to Covid-19 (steam room, shower, changing room etc) and it seems weird the spa doesn't offer a price adjustment due to not being able to use those services that are normally included. Lastly, after checking out the ladies at the front told me they routinely add 20% tip on the bill in front of everyone and asked me if that was ok, yet didn't tell me how much my bill was or how much the total tip amount would be. Very awkward and unprofessional in my opinion. I was unhappy with my service since it wasn't what they told me it was going to be and didn't feel I should tip 20% yet I was pressured into doing it since they were all staring at me. read more

The massage was amazing, and I wish I had booked far in advance! Ski season is super busy. They were able to take me in pretty last minute, but there was only a 50 minute massage available that day. Devin (sp?) was amazing and really worked what I needed to get done. He is super friendly and knowledgeable with his work. He worked a minor injury I had from skiing, which brought so much relief! I wish I had a longer massage! The only reason I'm giving 3 out of 5 stars is the fact that everyone was given a robe and slippers except for me. I was waiting in the lobby area where massage therapists meet you, and I was in my full boots, coat, etc. I felt uncomfortable since everyone else was in a robe and slippers. I was told, "You change in your treatment room." They also did not offer me water or champagne or anything! You'd expect more from the Waldorf. read more

I had a fantastic experience at the Golden Door. The highlight was James, who was an amazing masseuse and knew how to deliver a deep tissue massage. Within 15 minutes, I began asking him if we could go an extra 30 minutes. (Sadly, he was already booked.) His scalp massage made my toes tingle, really! The place itself was very zen, with blond wood, lush plants and tinkling fountains throughout. After the massage, I enjoyed their Relaxation Room where I sat in a heated stone lounge chair and watched the gas fire's flickering flames while listening to spa music. The only thing the Golden Door could improve on is to have a jacuzzi in the spa area. The jacuzzi for use by spa goers is the one outside which all hotel guests use and seemed perenially packed with kids. read more

I was especially surprised by the wonderful lounges. I spent most of my relaxation time in the repose lounge. This place is magical and relaxing. The beautiful mosaic lounge chairs are heated and lovely--The perfect place to enjoy a relaxer with tea. I got a 50-minute facial service and my skin feels great! read more

Underwhelming! Perhaps I'm spoiled due to living in a town with world-class spas (Las Vegas), but I was expecting greatness and found none. Golden Door Spa has a good reputation and it's located in the Waldorf Astoria. So, you'd expect luxury, right? Well, look elsewhere. The Golden Door spa is beautiful, don't get me wrong. But, for the price tag, even in Park City, you'd expect a world-class experience. The staff is nice, but nothing more. Actually, I felt a little uncomfortable by the male spa attendant who seemed to always be watching me (in a creepy, frowny way) as I walked down the halls. My masseuse was okay as a person, but my Swedish massage left my back bruised, something I hadn't experienced before. The two lounges, the repose and fireside lounges, are surprisingly uncomfortable. The chairs in repose lounge were hard and uninviting and the chairs in the fireside lounge were literally 2 feet from the fireplace. Nothing relaxing about either room (unless you like unbearable heat). No wonder there was no one in either lounge. The tea selection was nice but, if you don't want to stay in the lounge, there is really no where else to drink it. You're stuck wandering the halls with a teacup. Awwwkwarrdddd. My Golden Door Spa experience wasn't the best. It wasn't very relaxing or inviting and I walked out with a bruised back. Maybe I'll stick to the awesome spas in Las Vegas. I had a sadly disappointing experience here. There were so many mistakes and incompetencies of basic services that you would be much better served finding somewhere else local or just doing it yourself. The young staff here would really benefit from some basic training in completing their services. With this issue manager is letting down both her staff and the clients. The moment of truth for me was when the person doing my service went and asked a colleague how to do part of the service because she hadn't done it before. I overheard. Her colleague said, she hadn't done it before but could try, and then when they came back to me, the second one went to commence the service. I asked if she had done it before and she said yes. Confused, I asked "on who?" and she said - "a friend once". I'm completely fine if you are truthful and we don't do it - I really respect that, but experimenting on a client is dangerous. Really not acceptable when a mistake could damage the client. The one star is for Don the driver who was exceptional in his service. As I walked out of the spa rattled from my experience and services half complete, Don told me jokes all the way to my destination. Thank you Don. You are a genuinely good guy and a true asset to the WA. read more

This place is solid. Everyone greeted me by name and the customer service, professionalism and friendly staff clearly brought their A-game. I was wishing I'd needed more than a shellac pedicure because I absolutely wanted to experience more. My pedicure itself was actually the best I've had in Park City. I am one of the pickiest people you'll meet when it comes to polish application and end-result, so it takes a lot for me to say that. In terms of the layout, the Waldorf is definitely different when compared to the other two 'name' hotels in the area (aka Montage & St. Regis.) The sitting area is almost a horseshoe shape and it's definitely more exposed than some may be accustomed to. With that said, I'm not sure who did their interiors, but they have these leather sling chairs that were insane. So comfortable and beautiful... if I could have smuggled it in to my purse, I would have taken it home! Unfortunately, the WA does not have separate whirlpools in the wet area. You will have to go out to the main hotel pool to use a whirlpool. Not a big deal overall, but I'll let's be real: I'm 'That Naked Chick'. The one thing that has always been a favourite with Spa Montage is that I can go clothing optional in the whirlpool. Still, I am absolutely a fan of the Waldorf spa. The facilities are nice, the steam room actually stayed steamy (none of that cold stone, home-shower steam rooms here --thank god!) and the property is beautiful. Are there cheaper alternatives in Park City? Of course. Here's the thing: I love hotels. I'm used to living out of a suitcase and hotels provide a certain sense of security/comfort for me --this is part of what I'm paying for. If your goal is to get in, get a massage and get out, yeah, find one of the cheaper places. If you want to spend time at the spa and enjoying the facilities, you know where to go. read more

Absolutely beautiful resort . Our room overlooked the golf course and was fabulous. We had lunch at Powder (which is the restaurant) and it was delicious. The pool was relaxing and my only complaint was the pool workers didn't seem very happy, and it was a bit messy ( food smashed on pool deck, dirty towels ) we took the van into town for dinner and the drive was very accommodating and nice . From the moment I checked in I knew this was going to be a spa-ahhh-mazing experience. The staff was very cheerful & welcoming. I was amazed it wasn't very busy. However, rather than have to ignore the sometimes inane chatter of other women - I had an even more enjoyable, quiet spa experience. (Unlike the Grand Summit spa up the road.) I don't know about the Men's Onsen (sanctuary), but the steam room in the Women's Onsen was wonderful. Just the right amount of heat, humidity & scent to make it perfect. I thought the steam room would be my favorite feature of the spa, but then I went to the Repose Room. The lounges did not look very inviting since they were made of hard, unyielding tile, but then I sat in them... heated!! They were curved just right to fit my less than impressive 5'3" frame. I must have dozed for about 30 minutes. Heavenly! Anyway, by the time I had my facial by Velanie and my massage by James, I was pretty much ready to sleep off my languor for the rest of the day. However, when I checked out, Spa Director Scott was there. Needless, to say, he's pretty easy on the eyes. That pretty much woke this very happliy married gal back up. I'm a bit of a spa connoisseur. I visit spas often throughout the year and explore many different kinds of treatments. What brought me to Park City, Utah and this Golden Door Spa in particular was actually the original Golden Door Spa that is in Phoenix, Arizona. It was the most amazing spa I had been to, not just in Arizona, but the world. Because of this fact, I decided to explore their other locations and could not have been more surprised. The Golden Door in Park City is quite small in comparison to the original spa. In the beginning, I saw this as a negative aspect of the spa because it only features one steam room instead of three and no inside Jacuzzi. However, I quickly learned that this is a large advantage that in the end made me enjoy my time at the Golden Door Park City far more than in Arizona. While the Park City location does not have multiple steam rooms, it does have a shower with 14 shower heads, a fireside lounge that can be ignited at your request, beautiful and luxurious furniture, and a repose room with heated stone lounges...and no one else in sight. Even the treatment rooms had a wonderfully warm, homey, and personal feeling. I believe the timing of this visit was key. We went Easter Weekend 2012. One would think this would cause the hotel and therefore spa to be congested, but it was not. In fact, we rarely saw anyone within the spa and were led to believe it was our personal domain. Another factor was the weather. There was not supposed to be any snow during this Easter Weekend, but there was. The majority of skiers and snowboarders did not plan to visit the hotel or spa that weekend. My only critique would be that most of the spa staff were not as well trained as the hotel staff at customer service and one employee in particular did not at all understand that they were in a customer service role instead of say, a factory. In addition, we were not warned when a masseuse did not have a lot of experience and for that reason, our last treatment was not very satisfactory. However, overall this spa was phenomenal because of the solitude, personalization, and attentive spa staff. I would definitely return. As for the treatments: Harmony Massage Rating: 10/10 Described as ".A relaxing oil application, massage, and body wrap. Allow your mind, body and spirit to resonate to their highest. Using our signature Harmony Massage oil and Rose Porfyr Stones, this massage ritual wraps you in warmth while releasing the lingering strains of tension in your body, head and feet." Utter perfection. I've never experienced the techniques they used before. I've never felt so relaxed or limber. This massage unknotted parts of me I didn't know could become knotted. The massage kept building up tension in my muscle and then releasing it instead of slowly and steadily releasing tension all over. It was unique and perfect. Phenomenal. Biodynamic Facial: The Purest Facial on Earth Rating: 10/10 Described as "A fresh take on skin care! The new Biodynamic Facial is the first and only certified organic skin treatment from Hungary made with Biodynamic ingredients. Suitable for sensitive skin, this treatment will revitalize and rejuvenate all skin types with the active properties of radish seed, yellow sweet clover and apricot. Skin is refreshed and balanced all while remaining free of parabens and harsh chemicals." I have only had one other facial in my life and it was at the Golden Door in Arizona. It was fine, but mostly I just remember the pain of it. This facial was light years beyond my first. This facial most importantly, was not painful. Not at all. "Light extraction" was performed, but it did not hurt which was a miracle. Another thing I didn't understand about facials was how someone could get a massage just on their face for 50 minutes. Let me tell you, it is possible and highly enjoyable. The masseuse used a wide and lovely range of Hungarian exfoliant and moisturizers that smelled fresh and delicious. I even bought one of the products for personal use. Cleansing, enjoyable, and informative. Re"Java"nating Body Scrub Rating: 9/10 Describe as "Invigorate your body with a caffeine and mint scrub and massage. Relieve muscle tension with herbal oils and sea salt followed by rehydrating massage with a boost of natural aloe, olive oil and shea butter." This was a lovely treatment. I had it just following my Harmony Massage, which almost put me to sleep it was so relaxing. This scrub did awaken me and make me ready to take on the world in a wonderful and subtle way. I loved the smell, which did slightly awaken me on its own. The scrub itself was more rough than the lavender scrub, but did not hurt. My Girlfriend and I visited this spa during or stay in Park City. We were extremely impressed with the quality of spa and the customer service. The mens changing area felt like a locker room however I heard that the women's was a bit more classy. The therapists we had were both first class!!! I loved my spa experience at the Golden Door. The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere itself was very calming. I did the detox wrap/massage and the honey facial. Both were supurb and the therapists knew what they were doing. I enjoyed the onsen ammenaties too. They have a steam room, a relaxation area with heated tile loungers, and a shower that has 16 jets with music & lighting. The fireside lounge was a nice area to wait in between treatments. The tea lounge had a nice selection as well. The only issue we had was that my friend and I had ordered lunch to be served between treatments, and somehow they only brought a meal for one of us. I believe this to be an issue with the hotels kitchen though and not the spa. Other than that, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

My friend really wanted to love this place; she was following her favorite hairdresser. After an unfortunate bad hair job and calls to have it fixed resulted in no call back from the salon, this is very far from the Waldorf Astoria Spa experience! The salon acknowledged receiving her call but decided to ignore her. No customer service here whatsoever. I was so looking forward to a fabulous 80-minute facial at the Waldorf. Instead, I got a 75-minute foot, shoulder and scalp massage. At the start of my facial, I explained that what I most wanted was thorough extraction. Clean pores. Everything else was secondary. The facialist then proceeded to entirely ignore this and spend her time massaging my toes. Oh, but that was only after I declined paying $315 for her to use a machine on my face, and she couldn't possibly stoop to use her actual fingers. So it's back to the Stein Eriksen for me, where they know how to follow simple instructions. Oh, and at the end, she put plumper on my lips, whispering eagerly that it would help them look full. My lips, however, are naturally quite full and definitely do not need plumper. It's as if she wasn't even looking at me, but some prototype customer in her mind's eye. The upshot: I suspect the Waldorf is on automatic. They have a certain customer -- with dry skin, fine lines, maybe wrinkles and thin lips, and that's who they know how to treat -- even when the customer on the table presents with oily skin, congested pores, full lips and wrinkle-free skin. Sorry, I don't need to go to the Waldorf to use a Clarisonic on my face (I have one) and get anti-aging potions (I don't have wrinkles). But now that the Waldorf massaged the oily skin on my face but did next to no extraction, I have to go get a real facial pronto before I break out. Nice. read more

Indulged in a coffee scrub, it smells yummy! My therapist is gifted I always request her. Cindy gives an excellent massage and seems to know just where to find my knots. Have tried a few other therapist here when she wasn't available nice massage but it is not the same as Cindy's massage she finds the knots and works them out its like her hands have radar. This is a pretty spa I love the heat tile chairs in the ladies changing room perfect place to relax after a good massage. I travel for my work but when in Park City visit the Golden Door Spa. read more
