The buffalo was spicy but not the traditional just tossed in buffalo sauce, there was other spices on it that were great, the bbq was solid a good solid bbq sauced wing, and the hot honey stole the show. We recently met up with friends for lunch at Waldo's Chicken & Beer and had such a great experience. I really appreciated that the menu is small and easy to read -- no overwhelming choices, just really good ones. The combinations are well thought out, and whether you're in the mood for rotisserie chicken or fried chicken, you honestly can't go wrong. We ordered the 1/4 dark rotisserie chicken with a side of Mac and cheese and some greens and some tenders with potato wedges. The food was freshly cooked and was served hot. The tenders were seasoned very well to the point that we ordered some more. The only thing that wasn't as good were the potato wedges, which were too soft and not flavorful. The service was not stellar. When ordering we had to stop/slow down the girl taking our order to let her know any adjustments with our sandwiches. The food took an incredibly long time - this place seems like a fast food location, but time wise, felt like a sit down restaurant. The pulled chicken sandwich was good, but not a satisfactory amount of chicken or Alabama sauce for the bun size. I love everything that isn't good for me. However, I will eat things that aren't good for me as long as they taste really good. So I bought the four piece chicken tenders here as well as the quarter white meal that came with two sides. I picked the fries for the tender meal and fries and macaroni cheese for the fried chicken meal. Well I don't know where everybody is from or what is going on with their tastebuds, but I have to say that this chicken was very good. Just for my brief understanding of how they make it they brine it for so many hours and I have had a lot of places to say they do that including an expensive chicken place that is in Vegas and at home in Texas not a fast food place but I wasn't impressed with their brined 24 hour chicken. This I was totally impressed! I love Popeyes chicken but they have some sort of miniature wings or chickens lately because you can get five wings and it really is the size of two. I hate that! If I didn't love red beans and rice so much I wouldn't go there at all. So I would say that this chicken is better than Popeyes. It certainly was fresher and it was not some prepackaged processed meat that Popeyes probably uses. Do I still go to Popeyes? Yes but I really wish they would change the size of those wings! I will still go to Waldos because right now it's the best chicken I've tasted here or anywhere. I am going to make it part of my regular routine when I come to Destin because it definitely deserves a spot on my playlist. The fries were like a hand cut fry or a cross between because they were smaller and stayed crispy. Let me address the macaroni and cheese. Some of you think that macaroni and cheese should be like Kraft macaroni and cheese or noodles with a cheese sauce. Now this certainly is a perspective of macaroni and cheese, but this is not my preferred macaroni and cheese. I like a macaroni cheese cheese just like this Waldo one. This was a baked macaroni and cheese delicacy that could be on anyone's Thanksgiving table or with a chicken meal. So those of you who prefer a baked type of macaroni cheese this is the real deal! I definitely will recommend Waldos and will return. I just have one suggestion in regards to the fried chicken. I really wish that they would separate the wing and the breast when you order that meal. Fried chicken is supposed to be separate if you have rotisserie chicken or baked chicken, or maybe even barbecue chicken you can leave it as one piece but fried chicken is separate and that is so the crispiness gets to all of the pieces and they have their own defined moments. So I wasn't thrilled that my wing was still attached to the top of the chicken breast because I really couldn't unattach it and it gave me less of a wing because of that. I know you guys buy it from the store like that, but you really need to either buy it separately or find a way to detach it before you fry it. That is the only suggestion I have for you, Waldo. Keep going and hopefully next time when I return, I will be able to have a wing that is not attached to my chicken breast! Great chicken tenders...average sides. This was our last stop Sunday morning before heading back to Sweet Home Alabama, and our 1st time eating here even though we have one back home. I ordered the plate with 6 tenders, 2 sides and the little cheese biscuit. My guy ordered the wings. His fries were cold and old, so he requested a new batch. The new ones were fresh and much better. The cheddar biscuit was very good and reminds me of the ones from Jim n Nicks here in my city. My chicken tenders were fried perfectly but that's where the compliments end. The Mac and cheese was tasteless and my wedges were cold and had been sitting under the light. I expect this kind of stuff when a restaurant is heading towards closing, not in the 1st hours of them opening for the day.
