Great potential and friendly staff, but the food and execution missed the mark I really wanted to like this place given all the hype, but unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to it. I genuinely hope they can find a path to improvement because there is potential here. The Atmosphere & Service When we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. The staff members who were there were incredibly nice and welcoming, but they seemed a bit undertrained for the rush. Another minor detractor was the ambiance--the indoor lighting is a bit weird, utilizing soft fluorescents that don't quite fit a dining atmosphere. The Drinks We caught the happy hour between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, which features a great deal of half-off all alcohol. While the prices are excellent, the drinks themselves were unfortunately not very good tasting at all. The Food Blackened Red Snapper: The fish itself was cooked well, but it was honestly quite flavorless. To make matters worse, the sides served with it were definitely non-complementary to the dish. Tuna Rice Dish: My wife ordered a dish that came with rice, but the rice was completely undercooked and very hard. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and twins for lunch. We were in Destin for the day and had just gotten off the beach when we fired up Yelp to help us find a seafood spot and came across Fish On. It looked like a fancy place when we pulled in, but it thankfully ended up being a chill spot. The interior of the restaurant has a clean and bright coastal feel. The walls are painted a light seafoam green with white trim and large white plantation shutters on the windows, letting in lots of natural light. A large mounted marlin hangs from the ceiling, reinforcing the seafood theme. There are ocean-themed paintings on the walls, including a mural of windows opening out onto the water. The dining area features a mix of white-washed wooden booths and long tables with blue chairs, giving it a casual and airy atmosphere. Overhead lighting is recessed into the ceiling, and everything feels neat, relaxed, and family-friendly. Ultimately, we chose the exterior seating area, which was a covered wooden deck with a sloped roof and exposed beams. It's shaded and equipped with ceiling fans for comfort, making it a nice option on warm days. The area is furnished with wooden picnic tables and overlooks a parking lot bordered by palm trees and landscaped greenery, giving it a laid-back, beach-town vibe. It feels casual and open, great for families or groups. For lunch, I ordered the grouper sandwich while my wife went with the half-pound shrimp boil, and our twins shared a kids' chicken tender meal.
