I came in the store, so happy to be there, and was greeted by two people behind the counter. One was a younger woman, wearing a shirt that said she had an allergy to mornings. Lol. She smiled and was kind. However her counterpart was an older woman who treated me like I had done her wrong. It was so obvious that she didn't want to be there, or didn't want me to be there, that when we left, my boyfriend asked "Did you try to flirt with her husband or something?" I understand that life happens and we can't always be in a good mood, but as a former retailer her demeanor was unacceptable. The store would have been better off without her in it. (I suspect she is part ownership.) This is why I give 3 instead of 5 stars. If it wasn't for the OJ and the other staff member, I would have given them 1 star.

I found them on…read moreFacebook and decided to check them out because they stated "the vines are heavy with fruit and the picking is easy". They were telling the truth. No pesticides allows you to try it directly from the vine. The owners are so nice and informative. I didn't know what to expect but she waved me in and gave me the run down. Once I had enough blackberries to make a big crumble I headed back to the check out. After that I headed back out with a cup to pick the most amazing flowers. She challenged me to fill the entire cup and it was $10 for as many as I could fit it it. These flowers were just gorgeous as you can see from the pictures. I also grabbed a bag of okra after asking how to make fried okra. She happily told me how she makes hers with an egg wash, cornmeal, flour, garlic salt, onion salt and pepper. The store is clean and well-organized and they change up their displays frequently. Yes, there are flies buzzing around the produce but this is an open air market so it's to be expected. Not all of the products are local to Florida but you will find brands not found at most large supermarkets. Two of my favorite products of all time are sold here: Jake & Amos Beets and Jake & Amos Vanilla Peaches. I also enjoy periodically picking random dressings and sauces to try. The carrots and potatoes are also grown right here, berries are local; and more I'm not thinking of for sure. The flavor and quality of the produce will knock your socks off!! County Line makes me seem like a better chef than I am, because everything tastes so good!! The fruit - berries, citrus, mangoes, bananas, you name it! They have several refrigerator coolers as well, where you can get herbs and lettuces. There are some locally made goods as well, local honey, barbecue and hot sauces, etc. The people are knowledgeable, kind and wildly efficient. The most amazing thing is their prices. The cauliflower is at least twice as large as what's sold at the grocery store; it tastes ten times better, and costs half. I have doubled the amount of vegetables we're eating weekly for less than I would have spent at the grocery store, and it tastes so good! Driving out each weekend has become a little ritual for me. I slow down, enjoy the drive, select wholesome, fresh for the week, and most weeks I get to see one of the farmers there unloading fresh veggies from their tractor and I get to thank someone who is integral to feeding my family. I'm sad when my schedule occasionally doesn't permit me to go. Good to know: bring cash, they don't accept cards. There is an ATM onsite, but course there is always a fee for using standalone machines. Such a special place, I wish them everything good.

With a $500 deposit and $1000 more payable upon arrival, PC and his crew concocted the most hearty Thanksgiving dinner for my group of 15 friends and loved ones complete with locally sourced and cruelty free meats, fresh herbs and vegetables grown on site in the aqua ponics greenhouse, and decadent deserts. The meal included a smoked duck and pork loin with a cherry and bourbon reduction, a 20 pound turkey that was brined for three days with lamb stuffing and a wild mushroom gravy, a scratch made green bean casserole, a southwest beans medley with rice, and four delicious pies (sweet potato, pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate mousse). After dinner we played board games and enjoyed cocktails which were supplied by the establishment. And although it was a rainy afternoon I did notice a walking trail and some outdoor games and fire pit. They do have a few friendly dogs running around so be ready for that. The place is set on 3.5 beautifully wooded acres in scenic Citra, FL and is by far one of the undiscovered gems of the south. Thanksgiving at Easy Ponix might just become the next tradition for my family.
