I know the pain of waiting in the 45-minute line for the drive-up pharmacy, I've been there too, but this review is about the store. This is a convenient location. It is open 6am - midnight and it has all you need for a quick trip from OTC meds to groceries/snacks and batteries to TP and diapers. There are cards and gift items for last-minute birthday/anniversaries and seasonal items, not to mention open on holidays. So when you need to run out, you know they've got your item here. I've read about the highly unusual staff here (I am a longtime customer) but I didn't see any of them on a recent visit. The staff is friendly and helpful (though short-staffed). I sent over 100 photos to print (photos? I know!) and though no one was at the photo counter when I arrived, I rang the bell and someone came to help me. It took a little time to find my order (not unusual I find this happens) but they did locate it and I was pleased with the results. read more

Walgreens must the worst pharmacy in the United States with a staff uncaring, unwilling to help attitudes. I'm use to getting my Rx's filled in florida at Publix. It's like night and Day. I'm ripping this bandage off and going to CVS because Walgreens just SUCKS as a pharmacy! This is specifically to the store manager Robert Diaz. Walgreens corporate need to address the understaffing issue at the Elm Place location in Highland Park. Walgreens is a convenient location and there are a few good people that work in the store and the pharmacy but the store is so drastically understaffed that it is an unacceptable length of time to check out at the front and at the pharmacy. This is a very busy store and the Walgreens corporate office should staff it appropriately. Often times the employees act like zombies possibly because they get so tired of the complaints when there is nothing they can do because they are so short staffed. read more

This is one of those reviews I'm so excited to write. Yay, I received my first Covid vaccine today, and it was so completely drama free. And, I'm feeling fine...so far. I am reviewing the process I went through, because it was so easy peasy. Walgreens has their system down. First of all, I scheduled my Moderna vaccine online for 9:05am. I received an email confirmation from Walgreens with a special identifier code. There was also a link to some paperwork to fill out and bring with me (or fill out there). I'm so glad I filled it out ahead of time, because it made things such a breeze. It was suggested I show up 15 minutes ahead of time, and when I did I went back to the pharmacy and headed to the Covid vaccine check-in line. There were three people ahead of me checking in. I stood on the 6' social distancing circle and waited my turn. When it was my turn, I walked up, handed them my paperwork, and they had me take a seat until my name was called. Lena called me back at exactly 9:05am, and she was so kind. She made sure I didn't have any questions, and before I knew it I was vaccinated just like that! Boom! She handed me some information about the vaccine and a vaccine card (and a $5 Walgreens gift card). She had me sit back down and wait for 15 minutes near the pharmacy waiting area to make sure I didn't have any type of reaction. 15 minutes later with no reaction, I was out of there! Not gonna' lie...I was a little nervous. I'll be back for vaccine #2 soon. Great job team Walgreens! And, your store is always immaculate and everyone is always friendly. read more

My last day as a Walgreens customer - Phone wait time 40 minutes with 2 customers ahead to refill a prescription from the phone number the system recognized and the prescription number input. Pharmacist answered and was helpful enough. Went inside store to pick up to find two angry customers waiting in line with three overwhelmed employees inside. Felt terrible for overworked staff and all prescriptions filled ahead of me were partial fills per what I overheard...Indecent beeping, phones ringing and tempers flying. Great parking! read more

I am done with Walgreens. 3 simple reasons: #1. The line is insane at the Pharmacy. Today there was customers in line two ahead of me. There was some paperwork they were filling out with the Pharmacy Technician. After 20 minutes I BEGGED for them to fins someone to help me. This is a regular thing at Walgreens...You wait in line forever. #2 The store itself is also incredibly slow. There is always a line and usually one cashier. It seems that the other cashiers are working on the floor. It is so understaffed, but its been this way for YEARS. They are cheap when it comes to paying people minimum wage. #3 I got a prescription for a medicine that was $150 with insurance. Same med cost $11 at Costco without INSURANCE!. Yep. Prices for meds are very different at different pharmacies. Many people dont know this. Walgreens is a huge company, makes a lot of money, but the bottom people make minimum wage and they are so understaffed. I am DONE DONE DONE. read more

Here's what you need to know: I like this Walgreens since it's the beat place to pick up your FedEx packages after hours. It used to be 24 hours but has been reduced to an 18 hour day, which is actually a significant reduction. However, all in all, good friendly service (especially by Chrsytal) from a local pharmacy. The wine selection is in fact weak as compared to Walgreens in the city so don't plan on running in for a decent last minute gift, and the groceries have been reduced from a few years ago. But you can still get a half gallon of organic milk when you're in a pinch. Needless to say, the prices are retail so more expensive than grocery stores but you tend to get good deals on Godiva and ghiradelli chocolate the day after Easter :) read more

To continue the lambasting of the photo department, they've taken some passport photos of me here so bad I've almost cried. The DMV is like a studio photographer in comparison. True story: with the passport photos I took here, they almost didn't let me into Canada, out of Canada, or out of Israel. Walgreen's in Highland Park has basically made me seem like a terrorist. Plus, they've redone the store to include a whole space for fresh produce, which really peels my family's avocado. In order to do that, they got rid of all of the kitschy Walgreen's stuff that they're best known for! They have an itty bitty selection of photo frames, and none of the 3 oz reusable bottles for bringing liquids on airplanes! At least it's 24 hours, but unless you want some bananas at 4 am, it's much better to go earlier to the much bigger and better Walgreen's in Deerfield. read more

Alex in pharmacy told me to go around and get back in the drive through line because he didn't want to fill my one prescription which he told me would be ready on the phone. I said I waited for 20 minutes like everyone else and why wouldn't he just fill it. He said I'm not doing that for you and you can just sit there. I asked for a manager and he said there wasn't one. Note there were at least two cars behind me in line and I had not minded at all in waiting my turn but this was stupid. A female that didn't identify herself came and helped me. Once she started helping me I had my meds and was done in less than two minutes literally. I understand customer service is hard but you can't take your c@ap out on a customer. This is why i usually avoid the Highland park Walgreens but the one in Highwood was closed. This store has a history of hiring a-holes in pharmacy. I hope the Highwood one reopens. Phone system is a disaster. You sit on hold forever (I've sat 40 minutes more than once), and then the call is dropped and you have to start all over again. Our doctor has sent in prescriptions multiple times and the pharmacy says they haven't received it, when my doctor has sent me a screenshot showing me that he HAS sent it in. I had been going to the HP Walgreens for many years, and these are somewhat recent developments. Please get back your former staff. read more

They notify you through text and email that your prescription is ready and when you arrive they give you the familiar song and dance that it will be ready in 15 minutes. You then leave and come back 2 hours later thinking it should be ready and you get another song and dance. Why send a ready for pick up notification when it's not. This is legitimately the worst pharmacy I have ever experienced. I am honestly astonished at how bad the service was and how dirty the room was where i got my Covid vaccine booster. No one asked my name upon check in. No one asked me any questions when there was apparently an issue with them finding me in their system. It took them forty minutes as a single line of elderly and infirm patients built up behind me to the front of the store. I have insurance and an active Walgreens account... i would have loved to help clarify...anything. I filled out my pre- check in form online but they said they could not access it. They might as well have been looking for my information under a bush or staring at the moon and wondering why it didn't update my address for them. One question about my current address or telephone number would have solved their issues but instead they silently kept punching the same number into the system hoping for a different result all while making no direct eye contact and providing me with no actual information. When they finally gave up and handed me a packet with completely incorrect or outdated info, the person who gave me my shots in the little room performed my flu vaccine so fast that some of the shot never made it into my arm just squished out onto my skin - she said nothing. I'm 42 - never in my life has that happened. I had to ask which vaccine was which. The desk and room were so messy - the biohazard bin was standing wide open. Perhaps a witch has cast a spell upon this Walgreens. I do not know. Maybe we will never know. Avoid it. I wish i had! read more

I would give 0 stars if I could, but that's not an option unfortunately. The staffing levels at this pharmacy are horrendous (this has been going on long before COVID, but it's only gotten worse). It's almost impossible to get through the pharmacy line in under 30 minutes, even if there are only 2 people in front of you. There is only ever 1 person running the counter, and no matter how long the line gets, they will never call for reinforcements, even if there are multiple other people working in the pharmacy at the time who could easily jump in to help customers. I stood in line for close to 30 minutes yesterday. There were only 3 people ahead of me in line. The person behind me in line got so agitated about the wait that he kept going up to the counter to get anyone else's attention (he never managed to), all the while angrily storming around with his mask half off his face and making no effort to social distance. Come to find out, he's currently ill with COVID, and got very agitated and offended when the other people in the line tried to distance themselves from him. It was not a safe environment to be stuck in line with that person. At no point in time did anyone working the pharmacy take any notice of what was happening in the (now very long line). I would avoid this place at all costs. And rest assured, if you don't have COVID before you go in, you'll certainly catch it in line at the pharmacy, like I'm sure I did. read more

Received email and voicemail that prescription was ready. When I went to pick it up first they said they didn't receive refill from the doctor. When shown the email they said the prescription was put back- less than 24 hours after notice it was filled. They then claimed it "expired" again 72 hours after it was submitted. They are so incompetent they can't even get offer a cogent explanation when they screw up read more

Ordering photos on-line and picking up at the store within an hour HATE 1. Waiting at the photo counter and watching the manager and two employees have a personal conversation for over 5 minutes while I wait, only coming to assist after I have asked for help - twice! 2. The pharmacy people are atrocious. I called in at 6:30pm yesterday to find if my prescription that my doctor submitted electronically at 4:43pm (I was on the phone with him when he submitted it) and was put on hold 12 times. I called in and went into the hold queue. I could hear someone pick up the phone (office noise in the background, sometimes even voices could be heard), and then was put back on hold. I understand they are busy, but 12 times was unacceptable. I was on hold for 37 minutes. When I complained to the person who finally answered, his only explanation (No, I'm sorry you had to hold so long) was they were waiting on other customers. Well, I'm a customer too, but I guess some customers are more worthy of attention than others. Everyone I know is complaining about customer service at Walgreen's pharmacies. Time to find a new pharmacy for me. They obviously don't value me as a customer. read more

The staff was kind and didn't have the crabby it's-a-holiday-leave-me-alone kind of attitude like I'd experienced at other places that day, and the photo department let me check out with my gaggle of things there after picking up a photo calendar to avoid the lines. read more

Might be the worst Walgreens in the US.....especially the pharmacy department. Either the drugs are not in stock, OR never ready when promised. Recent example is called to renew an on file prescription, and was advised it would be ready the next day by 10am....drove to Walgreens at 1pm the next day, and was advised it wasn't ready, and they didn't know the exact time it would be ready...even though the drug was in stock. Have brought this to the attention on the sore manager and pharmacist at least two other times, but apparently they could care less. Absolutely pathetic service. Probably time to switch to CVS. read more

Do not use their photo department..... I went there three seperate time and each time there were problems. First they gave me the completely wrong photos. Next they gave me the wrong picture CD and it was some random person's vacation photos. Another time I ordered 1-Hour photo and it took over 3 hours to get them developed and when I came back they were not developed, but they gave me someone elses photos saying those were correct. I had to come back and sit there waiting for them to "re-develop" my pictures for the first time. The photo employee didn't even wear gloves while touching my negatives! The store itself is just fine....just don't trust the photo counter. read more

My friends and I were really cold because ya know it's Chicago it chilly here. We wanted to get some gum and be free from the coldness of Illinois. To our dismay the cashier call security on us. When the security came she threatened to call the cops for loitering even though we were getting so gum. We were in the store for less then ten minutes our friends also needed to use the restroom. They kept threatening to call the police so while my two friends were buying their gum they made us wait out side. We went back in to get our friends (it was a little chilly also) and the security came back and started to yell again. So I would not recommend this Walgreens. I would recommend going to a Walgreens with nice employees. And for those employees I was not a happy costumer. If possible I would give -5 stars. read more

It's not like one of the brand new stores with all the extra amenities like a frozen yogurt bar, sushi bar, etc., but it is like a normal, standard Walgreens. Maybe I'm in the minority (or maybe I just haven't needed to get photos developed here), but this is actually one of the better Walgreens that I've experienced. Fast check-out and they did a really nice job renovating this store, which was a very basic Walgreens as of 5-6+ years ago. The store has always been open 24 hours and they did put in a walk-in clinic. Plus, they even have a roped-off line that winds around by the check-out so that you can feel like you're about to go on a theme park ride that is ... well, less than exciting. Overall, well-stocked, nicely updated Walgreens with speedy (and somewhat amusing) check-out. read more
