I wish I could give Ulta zero stars. My mom's first language is not English, and what should have been a simple return turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. She signed up for an Ulta credit card when purchasing an item. She later returned that item and was told the refund would be credited back to the card. A month and a half later, she received a bill charging her for the very item she had already returned. Now we're left trying to sort out a problem that never should have happened in the first place. After sharing this experience with friends, I was surprised to hear that several of them had similar issues with returns. Some said they were refunded less than what they originally paid. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in Ulta. Between the confusing credit card process and the return issues, I no longer feel comfortable shopping here. I'll be taking my business to Sephora instead. I strongly recommend that customers keep every receipt, monitor their statements carefully, and double-check that any refunds are actually processed correctly. read more

I gave them days to make this right... I had a HORRIBLE experience and terrible customer service. I thought it would be quick to get my brows shaped- they were already outlined and had base shape.. I always placed with a waxer that was not comfortable or educated properly. It took her 45 minutes to get through one half a brow and 4 waxes in the same spot which resulted in lifted skin and burns. She finally gave up and said my brows were "too complicated" and that she needed to go get a brow expert. I wish this determination wouldn't been made immediately before injuring me. The brow expert reshaped them quickly after. I asked for a manager... she was completely dismissive, told me " redness happens after waxing," insisted I pay full price, and that someone would call me to make it right. No one called. She made it clear that what Sandy said was not okay, that the woman who cut my hair defended me when Jacqueline asked about the situation. I booked with her over the phone and clearly said I wanted a dry cut during my lunch break. I've had dry cuts at this salon before, so I didn't expect an issue. When I arrived, I reminded her I was short on time. My hair that day was loose 2A, almost straight. She told me she couldn't do a dry cut unless my hair was flat-ironed first. I explained that I don't wear my hair straight and that I've been avoiding heat damage. I even offered to let her mist it lightly. I asked the price, and after hearing that she meant wet and then straighten, I said I'd rather go elsewhere if she couldn't cut my natural texture as-is. She said she meant wet-wet, and offered a full wash and blow dry before the cut, which I said no to. She got loud and defensive, saying it wasn't about her comfort in cutting, that dry cuts are only done on straight hair, and that clients are supposed to come in with their hair already straightened. That would've been helpful to say on the phone. My hair was already nearly straight. Then, in front of the room, she said loudly, "Can anyone take her? She can't pay money for a blow job." I had already explained that I was on my lunch break and didn't want heat applied. Even if it had been about cost, shouting that out was completely uncalled for. I visited this Ulta last Monday and had a really disappointing experience. About 3 out of the 5 products I came in for were out of stock, and many of the shelves were messy and noticeably empty. Testers were missing or unusable, which defeats the purpose of shopping in-store. I asked one employee for help and she said, "give me one second," but then completely ignored me. I asked another employee if they had a specific blush duo in stock. She said she would check, but walked away before I could even tell her which shade I wanted, so I'm not sure if she actually looked for it. For context, my home Ulta store is the Burbank location, and the service there is always top notch. Every visit, I have at least three employees approach me to see if I need help with anything. The difference in experience was very noticeable. I come into Ulta specifically to see shades in person and try new products, but with the lack of stock, disorganization, and poor customer service at this location, the in-store experience at Cerritos just isn't worth it. read more

I had such a great experience at Ulta thanks to Diana and the entire team. Diana was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional--she really went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I've wanted to love this store for years, but after several experiences, I've accepted that I cannot. Every single time I visit the store, an employee has to stalk me as if I'm intending to steal. Never does this employee speak to me, greet me, or offer any help. The sole purpose of following me is to watch me, which I do not appreciate. Essentially, the employee is breathing down my neck while I'm trying to shop and spend MY MONEY in this establishment. The stalking is even heavier in the south west corner of the store. The employee races to the area and acts as if they're checking inventory, restocking etc. It's not the same employee. I've even visited this store months apart and this behavior is clearly their strategy in preventing shoplifting. However, there are other means to prevent shoplifting: cameras, perhaps make dead space and not have product in that area since it resorts to stalking customers, GENUINELY OFFER HELP, relocate eyebrows or the salon in that area rather than have products. Since passively accusing customers of stealing, I will share my story with family and friends so they don't spend their money in this establishment. read more

I was able to get in and out fairly quickly, even though there was a bit of a wait due to the limited number of cashiers working. 1 star off for how hard it was trying to get someone to answer a question about where something were located. I was looking for a specific product and perhaps the person I asked was new, but they didn't seem to know where it was other than the middle display section (which the product wasn't on). I highly recommend this place if you're ok walking into ulta to already be viewed as a potential thief. I walked in with a soda cup, a small purse, and a to go bag of food leftovers. I went in there for a liquid eyeshadow from rem beauty and a makeup remover. I guess with my bag of leftovers, ulta employees assumed I was up to no good so I ended up getting their orange tote to appease their suspicions of me stealing but nope I think I escalated their suspicions more. I was asked around 3 times for some "assistance" which felt fake and insincere. I find it more they were doing it so they could get a good look at me. I was even asked when I was walking up to the line where they have the mini make up and hair products if I needed help (bruh). at that point I just felt sick to my stomach and felt that i was not their ideal customer to be shopping there. It seems Ulta only wants customers to walk in there to know what they're getting and then to get the heck out or someone who's ready to blow money at their high end make up brands. With me I'm a person who's to myself but I'm someone who walks in there getting an idea of what I want, but I also like to view and do end up getting other things along the way. I'm also a shopper who likes to carry around products to compare and look up honest reviews online on my phone and if I need help, I do ask. I would suggest to maybe get rid of the orange mesh totes and invest in smaller open in store mesh totes for customer use or maybe only put out a small quantity of products on the floor to avoid theft loss. read more

This store holds a lot of rude employees. Everywhere I go, someone was either judging me or looking at me a certain way. I just bought over $100 worth of things and for the cashier (Simone) to look at me in a judgmental way was not helpful in my purchase. I forgot my pin and she just looked annoyed and sighed. Then when i made eye contact to apologize she rolled her eyes and looked away. I think the cashiers and employees need to stop and think about their actions and how it can affect someone. My daughter suggested I have my hair colored professionally at Ulta's full-service salon when I complained boxed at-home dyes were no longer coloring my gray roots. Made an appointment online with Julia. Found her delightful and knowledgeable. Made a follow-up appointment for today. Again, Julia was personable and did an excellent job. Upon completion she handed me a receipt to pay at the front counter. I stood in line while the cashier helped a group of 3 shoppers who peppered her endlessly with a series of questions. As I waited 4 additional shoppers queued up behind me. Tho' I was within eyesight of the cashier she never acknowledged my presence in any way. While we waited 2 other employees walked behind the counter & walked away without a word. One came back twice before finally opening a second register. Friday afternoon around 2pm. During my journey from salon to front counter I passed at least 4 other employees. No shortage of help on the floor just at the cash register. Very poor customer service. When I finally made my way out of the store the original cashier continued servicing her 3 customers. These days most stores seek avenues to provide quick payment options: self-service kiosks at Walmart, Costco, & Panera Breads; overhead electronic scanners at Amazon Fresh; cash&carry scanners at Downtown Disney, Ulta's old school model of the single cashier for an entire store is archaic and out of step with today's sophisticated economy. This is the third time we go to this store my wife and I decided to give it another shot after having had a bad experience in the past. Was completely disappointed walked in there with my wife and she went one way to look at the eye liner and such section and I had the kids in a different section. When I went and met up with her she was highly disappointed and wanted to leave. When we got outside she said she felt very uncomfortable due to the fact that the same thing that happened last time happened again which was the reason we had stopped going. She said as she was looking around in the corner in the area she was like clockwork one of the employees shows up and stands near just pretending to fix the area but clearly looking at her as tho she may take something. Person did not offer help just kept following and looking. I understand that there may be people who go in there and cause issues however there has to be a better way to prevent loss or whatever the case may be. She said this is not the first time this happens and she has been made to feel targeted there. I went to buy a product called Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen 1.7 fl oz, and as clearly stated on the website, purchasing this product comes with a gift set of three Dermalogica travel-size products. However, when I arrived, the staff member told me that the gift is unavailable. I asked if I could come back later to collect it, but she said, "I don't think it will be available." I don't understand--why advertise a promotion if you're not going to honor it? And for those who might say, "It's just a gift, what's the big deal?"--I suggest checking the product price and the actual value of the gift. I get that people have bad days, but this Ulta has the worst customer service. I don't understand why a lot of the workers here have so much attitude. I ordered a shiseido sunblock stick for pick-up but had a bit of a time constraint so I just stopped in early to see if they could accommodate my request. It wasn't busy at all, there were three clerks behind the counter. I explained my situation and said if I could just go grab it myself. I don't know the name of the clerk who helped me but she should probably not be in customer service. All I remember was her stank attitude (but at least her nails were fly). I think she was making the situation more complicated than it should've been saying that they had two hours to fulfill an order and saying she wasn't even sure if they had my product in stock (I pre-ordered for pick-up and the website stated they had it in stock). I apparently grabbed the wrong product (the packaging looks the same) so she begrudgingly took the two minute walk back to the Shiseido area with me and did her annoyed sighs the entire time. It's unfortunate because this is the only Ulta nearby but the customer service needs improvement. read more

I'm so disappointed to write this review, despite the bad comments I've read I really had hope that my experience would not be as I've read. I have visited this location often and never need help. I know what I'm there for I get it and check out. Today however was sad! Being the holidays I went early at 9:30am, store had about 5 customers and seemed neat and clean. No one greeted me as they typically do here. So I felt this was going to be an off day here. I was looking for nail glue. I went to the counter and Inquired. The female never fully engaged just pointed in a direction and mumbled something. She never made eye contact and then took off so I thought to guide me but no she just walked to the back and never returned. I continued my search and found nothing. Went to the make up area to find another associate and found one hunched over on her phone. I asked "excuse me,do you work here?" She looked at me, paused for a second and said "yeah" - I wanted to just walk out at that point but I had a need. So I asked her as well, she then goes over and shows me, they are usually right here and proceeded to check drawers which they were sold out. So I ended up leaving. I was thankful for the 2nd girl guiding me and checking but in all honesty- the customer service today was awful. I ended up going to CVS which I drove past initially because I like Ulta. But I was greeted and had friendly service at CVS, may have to rethink my shopping preferences. read more

Hi, Store was nice and tidy, most Ultas that I go to in my local area are not as well kept, but this one was a pleasant surprise. However, judging by some of the other customers responses with this establishment, I think that associates need to be more trained on how they're talking to customers when it's clearly their job to be more hospitable when informing a customer about a product. One of the associates seemed really stand off-ish and rude when asked about a product that was unfortunately out of stock. Not all of the employees are like this though, I appreciated a couple that actually asked me if I needed help with something, and even one of them complimented my shirt and we had a nice small conversation. All places tend to be like that wherever you go, I get it.... but I still think this place needs a little more social improvement. This location is outside of my area, so I don't know if I'll be back, but please put in a word for making a more comfortable environment. I felt in some moments I was being watched (or profiled, but I refrain to say that because I did see other black staff members) and it made me not want to look at some of the products much longer. read more

I haven't shopped at ulta for ages,but when I needed to get some beauty gifts this Christmas, they gave me an nice 20% discount in my email I couldn't refuse. I ordered the products online and picked up in store. There is a store pick up desk on the left side of the entrance. I was assisted quickly. They checked the name on the bag, scanned the items and I was off. While in the car, I checked the gifts and found one of the eye shadow pallets to be cracked and use. I turned back to request an exchange. The lead cashier who helped me before said she couldn't do anything since it was just rang up. The transaction needs 24 hours to go through and come exchange it next day. I was really annoyed since I could not understand why they couldn't just swap out the same product. They had it in store. The lady said she'd keep it behind the counter for exchange next day. It was just a hassle to need to come back for one thing and wait in a long line. The next day I came around 330p. Waited in the long line, then I found out as the cashier rang me up, managers code was locked out for the shift and needed to wait for the 4Pm shift manager. I wasn't the only one with a refund and we all had to come back at 4pm. I was super annoyed at this time since the line had been long but what could I do?! I waited until 410p. Received the cashier after a long wait and fortunately ran into the lead cashier from previous day. She was not a manager but she was able to perform my exchange as even value override. I was thankful she was able to help. Otherwise, I would have had to wait longer for the new on shift manager to perform this. They really need an upgraded operating system and ability to override returns some other way. If one manager locks out at beginning of shift, sorry y'all, you'll have to wait until the next shift manager to do it. Not the smartest operating experience here. I've been here three times now but this would be the last time I'll come to this location. I came here with my sister because we were getting a few things for our mom for Mother's Day to get the stuff a little bit early. I understand it's routine for the sales associates to ask us if we need anything but it was a bit annoying when we had 3 different people ask us and my sister was telling me how uncomfortable she was getting. It was just weird because we did buy a blow dryer and couple makeup brushes and I suggested we go over to Clinique for the face creams because our mom uses those and that's when we had 2 people back to back ask us if we needed anything and my sister was telling them no we're just looking and she just said forget it let's just leave because at that point she got upset and uncomfortable 2 people came up to us it was just weird.
