This used to be a good pharmacy. However, the last 6-8 months it's completely gone downhill. No one answers the phone (so annoying!!!!!!), and the staff for the most part apathetic. One small example, going thru drive-thru, I'm sitting at window and no one is acknowledging me. Ok even though they can see me, I probably have to hit the "call" button. I do that and still nothing. Several mins pass snd finally someone comes and asks if they can help me. Really, 1 of the 3 people in there couldn't have thrown out an "we will be right with you?" I went to several Target, Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens today (Monday 12/30/14) in search of discounted Christmas items. The day after Christmas, most stores had 25% off, which isn't motivating. Right now, most stores have 50% off, which isn't too bad. One CVS @ 8985 Venice Blvd touts 90% off right now already, so you can get candies for under $0.10 and boxes of candies and cookies for under $0.50, as well as wrapping paper rolls for around $0.50 too. I sort of feel that 70% off or more is the sweet spot for discounts where people start to buy stuff they really don't need, but can't pass up a bargain. I went into this Walgreens looking for heavy Christmas stocking holders for the mantle with a hook... and this is the only place I found 'em for $10 less 50% off today, so they were $5 each, which isn't spectacular, but is reasonable and fair to buy now, store 'em away and bring them back out every Christmas. read more

So I'm getting ready for my trip to Vietnam and needed a Visa photo. I wanted to make sure it was done properly so my Visa would not be delayed. I used the World Wide Web and it directed me to Walgreens and also provided a link for a $2 off coupon, score! I didn't get the gentleman's name that help me, but he was very chipper and friendly (even at 7a) and had me in and out with my two 2"x2" visa photos in no time. Plenty of parking but they are located right on Sepulveda. The trick is to enter off the side street just south of them near the Chalk Preschool and use Cedar Ave where there's a light at Marine. read more

I want to like Walgreens, but every time I go in the customer service is beyond lacking, this also refers to the pharmacy. Please get someone in there to train people on how to interact with the public or set a higher standard of work performance and only hire people who can meet it. Yep, the prevailing rating says it all. 2.5 stars is very bad but deserved. I've come here numerous times in the last week and dozens in the last year and after today's experience, I'm finding another pharmacy. They seem impervious to low reviews and needing to be professional, friendly and timely. You'd think a national chain would care as they spend millions to advertise, just for some self important pharmacists to screw it up, completely unnecessarily. The relatively young blonde pharmacist is as welcoming as a canker sore. She actually gave me an attitude when I said "yes" to the counter person asking if I would like a pharmacist chat regarding the medication I had never used. C'est la vie and so long. read more

I bought a gift card here, which the employee did NOT activate (as proven by the company of which the gift card was bought), and after a MONTH of trying to resolve the issue both with corporate and with the Store itself, I was told today that there is nothing that they can do. Very clean and large Walgreens. Came here to get my sons iron meds. They had consistently been the only pharmacy to carry baby iron. But this time they did not have it. The pharmacist was very helpful and came out to look with me. When he couldn't find it either, he patiently waited while I looked up the exact one I had previously purchased and showed him the image and code number. He took down all the info and said it would be ready the next day by 2. I called the pharmacy the next day and they said it had arrived but needed another hour to unpack and process their shipments. It was still well before 2. But I came back an hour later and it was ready. I used the drive thru window with the lane that has the pneumatic carrier. That was actually pretty cool and the device worked well. I sent my credit card up and the pharmacist sent my credit card back along with my meds and I was on my way. Super convenient. I will definitely use this pharmacy again. The pharmacist was very friendly and helpful and the drive thru was perfect - especially with 2 tired and hungry kids in the car! read more

This review is ONLY about the Manhattan Beach Walgreens bogus "TWO-LANE" drive-through. Other locations or features might be wonderful. I switched my prescription to this Walgreens because I noticed they had a "drive-through" pharmacy. And it had TWO lanes, no less! How cool is that? Turns out, it's not cool at all. Not even mediocre. In fact, if you thought about using this drive-through, hit yourself on the head until the idea passes. It will save you a lot of pain. The fundamental problem of the drive-through, is that it's INSANELY SLOW. It doesn't seem to matter what time you go, or how many cars are in line: In my six encounters with this disaster, I've never waited less than 15 minutes. What really hurts, though, is when you have to wait so long, simply to DROP OFF a prescription. With one car ahead in each lane, I once waited twenty-five minutes, simply to drive up to the window and say "Hi, here's my prescription. See you tomorrow". What are they DOING in there? I shouldn't say "they", because I've never seen more than ONE clerk working the drive-through. And that's the idiocy: ONE clerk working a TWO lane drive-though. Exactly how does that help? Oh,wait, I just got it: Walgreens gets to do a legal bait-and-switch, drawing customers in with that nifty two-laner. They never claimed those TWO lanes would be FASTER. I just made the assumption. My bad! Although, if you like to gamble, I can see the allure of two lanes, and one invisible clerk. You drive up, and there is one car in each lane. Uh oh. Which lane do you pick? Better pick fast, before somebody gets in ahead of you. Unfortunately, you have no way of knowing which car will be served next, because they were just sitting there when you arrived. No movement, or sign of life. Pick wrong the wrong lane? You'll wait twenty minutes, only to see another car pull up and get served immediately in that OTHER lane. You blew it, chump. And don't think you can form a single line for both lanes. That may be reasonable, but the "Walgreens Regulars" know it's "kill or be killed". They will drive around your car, bashing your fender if necessary, to grab the window that's about to vacated by the previous car. Your bad, again. You turned off your car engine while you waited. Chump! Target pharmacy, I'm sorry I ever doubted you! Will you take me back??? read more

Irresponsible and frankly dangerous pharmacy practices. BEWARE. The staff at this pharmacy, in order to avoid any conversations about insurance, simply tells you that you aren't allowed to pick up your medication. "Not Allowed" and "Allowed, but you will have to pay" are WAY different things. They did this with my mother's blood pressure meds. Sure, Ma's blood pressure totally understands and will stay low until her insurance says it's ok to treat it again. No....Mom needs her meds. We'll pay for them. So she doesn't die. They have done this to me, with a written prescription in hand. Said "they" won't let you fill this. When I asked who is "they", the staff member said "my insurance". I hate my insurance! I'm not doing what they say! I informed her that there was a cash register between us for a reason. She then had me speak with Sherief who spoke to me like a child to the point where I took my prescription to Target. Yes, I'd rather deal with the madness that is Target than give any more business to these idiots again. I reported them to the CA Board of Pharmacies for these dangerous practices and hope some changes are made. I have patients who use this pharmacy. TO ALL WHO STILL GO TO THIS DEATH TRAP, REMEMBER TO ASK QUESTIONS!! DON'T WALK OUT WITHOUT YOUR MEDICATION!!!! Be your own advocate and stay the heck away from this place UPDATE: To further irritate me, they (Walgreens) filled all my refills, charged my insurance, and let them sit on their shelf despite knowing that i wasn't coming back... this was of course to make sure that i did NOT have an easy pharmacy change. The Target Pharmacy lady said that Shereif is a "known dick" (as is evident by the amount his name is mentioned in one star reviews), and that she would give me one pill for the day until she got the problem solved. FINALLY, a local, well-stocked, clean, convenient pharmacy with a drive-thru and friendly staff! I transferred all my prescriptions from Pier Ave.'s TERRIBLE CVS in Hermosa to this fabulous new Walgreens a few months after it opened (CVS is walkable for me, but Walgreens is worth the short drive). They email you as soon as your prescriptions are ready, their iPhone app is easy to use for refills, and I've NEVER dealt with an employee who wasn't friendly and efficient. Walgreens never seems to have the long wait times nor the issues with insurance companies I've encountered at CVS (my insurance is very comprehensive and my prescriptions simple, but CVS always has one issue or another with even the least complicated request). The retail section is stocked with a great selection of medical, beauty, food, drink, beach/seasonal and other products. I've never had trouble finding what I need at this location - the store is large and well-maintained. A staff member is always readily available when needed. Peace out, CVS - you are by NO means worth the hassle. I'm a Walgreens girl fo sho thanks to this new spot. read more

We are going on a international trip and need the yellow fever vaccine. Apparently there's a national shortage on the vaccination and my UCLA health office gave me information for a travel clinic in Santa Monica and it would've cost me close to $1000 with all the admin, consultation, etc fees! So I googled and called around and, BOOM, Yellow Fever Vaccination at Walgreen's for $160! The people at the pharmacy are very nice and friendly and got me in and out in no time. Thanks!!! read more

It's a typical convenience pharmacy store. The store was pretty clean and organized when I was there. I easily located what I came for and headed to the check out. No one was in line, so that was nice. Turns out, what I wanted to buy required a Walgreens Card for the discounted price. I wasn't sure if I already had one, as I don't frequent Walgreens. The sales girls suggested that I try my phone number. If that didn't work, she'd be happy to get me a new card. Turns out my old phone number worked and I saved $4 instantly. Sweet! The sales girl was super friendly and helpful. As I was leaving, I noticed that they had a Drive Thru Pharmacy as well. There were two lanes, but it didn't look like it was moving very quickly based on the two cars that were in each lane. Still, nice to know that they have it. read more

I came in here on a Wednesday afternoon to get a flu shot. It was hardly the busy time by any means and yet you would have thought there was a massive line of people based on how flustered everyone working in the pharmacy was. When I arrived there was a woman helping a gentleman so I patiently waited and made eye contact with her, only for her to quickly walk away from the line as soon as she was done helping him, as if I didn't exist! So I went to the consultation window and the pharmacist was standing right next to it, also ignoring me. After waiting a few minutes she asks "do you need something?" YES! I don't just like to hang out by the consultation window for no apparent reason! She then asked me to wait in the line I had originally been in so that the woman who had previously walked away from me could come back and help me...UGH. When that woman did come back, she was a little snarky and totally unapologetic about the fact that I'd now been waiting around for 10 mins for no apparent reason! I finally got my flu shot from the pharmacist after another 15 mins of waiting, but it was such an unnecessarily unpleasant and lengthy experience. read more

Big thank you to the amazing folks at your pharmacy department. Trying to get medications filled for my child with a chronic illness through his mail order pharmacy is a nightmare. But the folks here are so wonderful and helpful, got his life saving medication to me the day I needed it. Dealing with a child who has a chronic illness is hard but when you have people who are understanding and helpful it really makes a world of difference. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. My parents were disrespected today thanks to an employee at the pharmacy named Bernice. They called two days prior to confirm walk ins are allowed (which they are) . This morning my parents walked in to an empty pharmacy, my mother handed Bernice her prescription for a shot, and she refused to attend my mother. My father complained to the assistant manager but she was no better, she was too much of a coward to even provide her name. What kind of place is this that you can't provide basic customer service? If your employees can't be polite, helpful, and accommodating then maybe they need to be dismissed. Thankfully my parents went to the Walgreens in a different city and they were helped within 5 minutes. Shame on the employee named Bernice. Shame on management for not having enough pride in their store to hire good employees. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Walgreens really is on the corner of happy and healthy, everytime I find myself here the employees are helpful and friendly. Walgreens has saved me from last minute runs before a family dinner. They're quick service and warm staff has never failed me. On countless occasions I find myself wandering these aisles and ending up with more than what I intended. With their specific aisle in the middle that constantly changed due to the season or holiday, I can always count on it for small gifts or fun activities. My life always seems to work it's way back here in need of something new for a good price. Highly recommend Walgreens for your next quick, emergency, shopping trip. read more

Attention ALL Walgreens Shoppers!!!! Please ban shopping here, or at least the one on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach....Here is what happened: John Mccree and I have been teaching our oldest Max more responsibility and to become more independent. He worked his BUTT off being a Jr. Umpire for a month and earned over $200 doing it. He wanted to buy something on Amazon.com. He rode his bike to Walgreens on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach and handed the cashier 2 $100 bills. He did just as I told him and got the receipt AND the Activation Receipt. Came right home and we set up an acct. for him. Card doesn't work. After several calls to both Amazon and Walgreens (corporate and the store)....it becomes clear that the card was never activated by the cashier, Amazon tells us this happens ALL the time and especially because it was cash, and Max is a kid....they most likely pocketed the money and handed him a phony receipt. Walgreens corporate just now emails me telling me that the card doesn't match the receipt (ya, no shit sherlock!) But that if WE the customer cannot produce the receipt that goes with the card, we are outta luck (this has been going on for OVER a month with a call every couple of days from me....ridiculous!) I find it totally insane that we need to produce a receipt that we never got....Please beware when shopping there my friends! Ugh....poor Max read more

So the last time I visited this store I liked it a lot. The man who helped me at the picture desk was friendly and showed me how to save money on printing. This time, however, I was disgusted by the service I received. The store was basically empty, and I finished my picture order. Nobody was behind the counter so I walked over to a girl who was literally just standing there talking, and told her I ordered about 10 pictures and would be right back to the counter. I walked around the store and got a few things then brought them back to the counter. They actually had to call her to come back. She came back to the desk, walked right past me without saying a word and went straight to the computer. At LEAST another five or six minutes went by and I was still standing right there at the cash and I finally said "excuse me, do you mind telling me how much longer my pictures will be?" and she said "at least ten minutes" in a really rude tone. I asked "ok.. Is something wrong with the machine tonight?" And she bluntly replied with "no, I haven't started your order yet." And this was now way past the time when it had said it would be done and there wasn't a single other person around us! So I stood there at the counter and watched her until she was done haha. She could've been a little less bitchy!!! She was so young too. Hope somebody teaches her how to treat customers soon or she's going to have a rough go in the customer service industry! read more

Review for the pharmacy. Went in here a few days agoon a weekday. The pharmacy wasn't too busy, I had a quick question about a drug, and the pharmacist gave me attitude and was horrendous! The techs were nice, but she was just super rude to my face. I've never experienced this before in my life. Since I don't want to blame the entire pharmacy, more specifically it was an African American lady pharmacist. When this Walgreens opened several years ago, I found it to be great and was so glad not to have to deal with CVS or Target any longer. HOWEVER, in the past year they have really bombed more than once. Someone has determined to have only one clerk working the counter (2 drive-up windows in addition to the line in the store) most of the time, so the wait to pick up or drop off can be very long. Then the time to fill the prescription seems to be much longer than when they first opened. Our last visit took the cake. My husband dropped off my new Rx and was told it would be ready in 90 minutes. When he went back to get it 3 hours later, it turned out the clerk had made some sort of mistake and it never got into the queue for the pharmacist to fill. So he was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. We went back 45 minutes later and then found they did not have enough stock so we only got a partial fill. I went back two days later when the rest was supposed to be available, and it STILL was not available so I had to wait 3 more days to get it. The other most recent annoyance was having to stop there on the way home from a recent surgery. New laws mean narcotic pain killers cannot be called in by our doctor. So my husband went in with the Rx while I waited in the car. I realize others were in line, but it seems needing a pain killer might be reason enough to move us up in priority instead of having to wait 60 minutes for the pharmacist to fill the Rx. I have had other problems in the past year with this pharmacy and am afraid I will now have to start looking for a new one yet again. read more

We loved Walgreens when it first opened several years ago...convenient, drive-thru pharmacy and friendly employees. NOT ANYMORE AND NEVER AGAIN! We are done and are taking all of our prescriptions for our entire family and those I handle for my elderly parents somewhere else. The drive-thru is an absolute JOKE! There is no rhyme or reason to how the cars are handled in the drive-thru lanes...the employees (usually only 1!!) is juggling the inside lines and requests, the phones, and trying to help the people in their cars. Clustersf--k. It is so bad it's hard to explain how bad, but read the other Yelps on Walgreens "convenient drive-thru." Lame. More and more prescriptions are not being filled within 60-90 minutes or even 3-4 hours, which is a huge problem when it comes to getting the antibiotics for your sick baby/child or pain medication post-surgery!! Speaking of pain medication: Who died and made Walgreens the moral compass, decision maker and DEA narcotics police? Walgreens has a self-administered policy of whether or not they will fill a narcotic pain medicine and to make a determination of if you appear to be a drug abuser, dr shopper or pain pill addict? WTF? Recently a pharmacy tech asked me why my narcotic pain medication had changed -- from Rx-STRONG to Rx-LESS STRONG. WTF?!?!?! I was speechless. First of all, it's none of your damn business. Secondly, you have no idea the kind of surgery or pain I am being treated for and what my dr and I discussed. And thirdly, it's none of your damn business, pharmacy tech! Also a drivers license is required and must match the name on the prescription for drop-off and pick-up! Absolutely ridiculous and inconvenient that my Family member or spouse could not fill a narcotic pain medicine for me as I was unable to leave my house or drive after my surgery. Again WTF?!? I had just had a medical procedure and went to CVS to have a pain medication prescription filled and they didn't have the medicine. I aksed the pharmacy tech if she could call other locations to see if they had the medicine in stock and I was told NO, she could not do that for me. After visitng three different locations, and I was in no condition to drive all over town, I got the same result, no medicine and no help. My boyfriend suggested giving Walgreens a try since he was a happy customer of theirs. Sophie was there that day and she was amazing! Sophie called over to CVS and got all my insurance information and bam, just like that I got my medication, went on my way and now I am a happy Walgreens Pharmacy customer. Tricia : ) read more

For the regular store it's fine. But the pharmacy is screwed up. They never have my prescription ready, and always claim they did not receive a call or fax from my doctor(s). When I call my Doctor(s) back they have names of people they spoke with and fax confirmations. There is clearly some problem within Walgreens communication. They love to blame it on my doctors office, but it is several different Doctors offices and they all keep proof that shows they faxed/called it in. Hire new people for the PHARMACY! read more
