I would avoid this pharmacy at all costs in the future. My doctor sent my prescription over. I visited the pharmacy few hours later and was told they did not receive the order and the information was not in their system. The lady at the pharmacy window was very rude and condescending as if why I was there to bother them without a prescription. It turned out the prescription was sent to them, but they had not processed it yet. They also ran out of the medication I needed. read more

I quit going here a couple years ago for various reasons. Today I was desperate and ran in to get one quick thing. The line was very long (one of the reasons I quit coming) and when a new cashier finally came, it was, of course, the one that made me quit coming (another reason). I watched him treat the two people ahead of me rudely and then I got to experience it again. Clearly this guy needs to get out of retail. He can't say hello (even when you say it to him and try to be nice), treats you like you are bothering him by being there and doesn't respond to a thank you. Seriously never going back in this store. UPDATE 11/26/23 I don't go to this store anymore for the reasons I listed previously, but my 86 year-old mother does because she doesn't drive and Rite Aid is too far for her to walk. She went to pick up her prescription today but only the drive through window was open. So she stood in line between the cars and when she got to the window the employee told her that the line was for cars only. She explained that she doesn't drive or even own a car, but the person still told her that she had to be in her car and kept shouting at her, "Where is your car? Go get in your car!" After pleading her case and several back-and-forths, the person finally agreed to check her out but rudely shouted, "WHAT. IS. YOUR. NAME!?" In the end she got her prescription but this is completely unacceptable that she be treated this way and dangerous that the only way she could get her prescription was to stand between the cars in line! I am a provider and have had multiple patients tell me or our office that the pharmacy at mercer island branch did not have our prescription or that it was never called in. Even though we knew we had called it in. Again, this happened to me as I was at England on a family vacation. An emergency patient called me and needed a prescription called in. I was put on hold at 11 pm British time for over 11 mins then decided to call back since no one was answering the provider line for new prescriptions and left a very detailed message that my entire family heard me leave since we were all in the taxi together. I had to even buy a day phone pass to make the call. The patient then texted me the next day to say the pharmacy said there was no message and the patient was clearly upset. I checked my phone log and the phone number and indeed all was correct on my end. This pharmacy is consistently a problem. Our office will no longer call prescriptions into this pharmacy. read more

Avoid this pharmacy at all costs! I've had issues with getting prescriptions filled here since before Covid. I had to go back 5 times in the last 2 days for a prescription! The employee said that they are over 800 prescriptions behind, are 2 employees short, and they are open less hours. I was told they were short 2 employees over 3 yrs ago! I don't believe the corporate office cares at all! Pay the pharmacy techs a good wage and you'll get employees! The Covid excuse is getting old, especially since they were short prior to Covid. I stopped going here because they overcharged me multiple times, cannot get the prescription info correct, and the lines are always very slow. The drive by pickup is absolutely useless. I was third in line then the guy in front was forever (at least 10 mins). Called and asked for a representative in pharmacy. They couldn't tell me anything. Motorcycle behind left then I put my backup lights on and had the others backup and I left. Will go to another pharmacy from now on. If a prescription has to be made up they should have to come back later for pickup. One is TOO high a rating. Checking the ratings Walgreens doesn't seem to care. read more

I have been underwhelmed by the pharmacy portion of this Walgreens. I still go based on location convenience and the fact that I rarely have to go to the pharmacy. It seems the staff are not patient advocates and are severely understaffed. Consistent management in this pharmacy has been verbalized to me as a persistent concern and it shows in their customer service. I have spoken with a handful of staff because I care for a lot of people who use this pharmacy. I have asked what I can do to help advocate for them and it appears the staff are defeated - leading to this review. Please Walgreens, listen to your staff and the Mercer Island community. Read these reviews, our neighborhood wants to support you but we need you to support the pharmacy staff in their needs. Help me provide excellent patient care across the continuum. Regarding the pharmacy: their service was subpar. I understand that the time I went it was pretty busy so I didn't mind waiting for my new prescription but I rarely have any and they had me on file but under a different insurance. They didn't even bother to ask me for additional insurance which I had and just had me pay out of pocket. I reluctantly agreed led since it was just around $30 but the guy in front of me had to pay $600 out of pocket. This is probably due to the failure of our healthcare system in general but for the particular employees at this seemed to rush everything and had okay customer service. The amount of customers they see for being only 1/2 pharmacies on the island must be overwhelming but I definitely will try my luck with Rite Aid next time... read more

I really would like to see a Bartell Drugs on Mercer Island, but Walgreens will suffice. My first visit to this location was five years ago and it looks the same today. There is a Rite Aid also on the island down the street, but this is a bit more convenient and has a less dingy exterior. As with all Walgreens, there is a foods section that can be good sometimes to pick up random items. I saw some cheap Arizona tea cans and bottles here for $.50 each for example. It is the type of place that you go when you need to pick up odds and ends at fairly reasonable prices. Walgreens may be a bit drab, but predictably dependable. read more

This is a gigantic Walgreens that is very clean and pleasant. There is even a decent sized parking lot out front. It is a pretty standard Walgreens in terms of products offerings. I would definitely get a rewards card here as there are certain deals that must be used with the rewards cards. The Walgreens rewards program however is not that great unless you just so happen to either refill tons of prescriptions and/or buy all the products that fall under the rewards points deals. The products tend to be quite random and/or you have to spend like $20 of a brand to get 1000 points. And they have plastic bags here since it's outside of Seattle limits! read more

This pharmacy is a mess. Don't ever bother going through the drive thru; even if there's no wait, you're bound to wait at least 5 minutes for service. And they NEVER (have had at least 10 experiences that this has happened) have your prescriptions ready for you after a doctors appointment. They won't have them filled until at least a day later. Walgreens - Bait & Switch? On Friday December 30th I clipped a Good Rx/Walgreens coupon for the cholesterol lowering medication Colestipol. The website listing indicated that Walgreens had the lowest price of the pharmacies participating in the Good Rx coupon program. The Walgreens price for 120 tablets was $37.37. When I went to the Woodinville/Cottage Lake Walgreens to pick up my prescription I was told the price was $48.87. I presented the Good Rx/Walgreens coupon that showed the price for 120 tablets to be $37.37. They told me they couldn't honor the coupon price, they had to charge me whatever price that came through on their computer. I asked why they would not honor a Good Rx/Walgreens coupon that I had clipped about an hour before coming to the store which clearly stated what the Walgreens price would be. I also asked why they wanted to charge me roughly 30% more? I was told that's just the way it is and that I would have to take it up with Good Rx; they then asked if I wanted the medication or not. Needing the medication, I paid the higher price. The next day I called and spoke with the manager on duty about the issue. He confirmed that what I was told is their policy, that Good Rx coupon prices continually change so they charge whatever comes through their computer system. When I asked if insisting that a customer with a current Rx Walgreens coupon with one price on it pay a higher price made any sense, his response was "No, but that is what we have to do." This appears to be a bait and switch tactic to get people to the pharmacy advertising a lower price and then insisting the customer pay the higher price. This information will be sent on to the Washington State Consumer Protection Division. read more

I used to think it was just a MI Walgreens issue, but I think all Walgreens are terribly understaffed in their pharmacy and as a result the lines in the drive they and/or inside are horrendous. This has been my primary pharmacy for 6+ years and I've contemplated changing to a Bartells near my SLU office quite a few times. The line inside and the drive thru are painfulllllly long and they take forever. You have to plan to go right at opening time or test your luck later in the day. DO NOT SCHEDULE YOUR COVID BOOSTER AT THIS STORE. If I could give the pharmacy department 0 stars, I would. I registered online and made an appointment for a booster shot. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked when I would get my shot and was told someone would be with me shortly. After 45 minutes, they gave me paperwork to fill out that was not given to me when I checked in. I asked if I could get my shot within the next 5 minutes and was told they couldn't guarantee it. After that, I asked for my vaccine card to be given back to me and walked out. That pharmacy has terrible customer service and during my wait time, I witnessed at least 10 people who were frustrated picking up their prescriptions with issues ranging from not ready, medicine wasn't in stock, or issues with insurance. I've been waiting for my anxiety medicine, depression medicine, and ADHD medicine for over a month. I've waited for 5+ hours on hold and another 5+ hours in line at the pharmacy this week alone. I just spent an hour and a half on hold w the pharmacy, and when I realized it had been an unexpected amount of waiting time I had my partner call. He immediately got a "the pharmacy is temporarily closed" message, while I was still on hold with the NOW CLOSED PHARMACY. No message to let me know the pharmacy was closed, no message to let me know I was sitting on hold with no one. Frankly, I should sue for school fees bc I need my ADHD medication to be successful in school, and the Mercer Island Walgreens has made it nearly impossible to pick up prescriptions or communicate with the pharmacy. Choose literally any other NON-WALGREENS pharmacy. They invested way too much money into Theranos and now we're paying for their terrible decision making. read more

Last month, my doctor said she sent my prescription in, but Walgreens said they didn't get it, so she sent again, but rays of delays. This month, I ordered the prescription on Saturday and Walgreens said they sent it to my doctor that day, but my doctor said she didn't get it. The pharmacy located in this Walgreens is horrifically slow. The constant reminders and calls are nothing but a waste of our time since the prescription is never made or ready for delivery. The male pharmacist at this store is disrespectful to women. I have had multiple experiences where the male pharmacist goes out of his way to mess with my subscriptions. He refuses to believe me when I tell him I've never been on the generic and always try to shove it down my throat. I just called my doctor and I had it authorized in March.
