I moved here recently from San Diego where I have a health plan linked to Walgreens. So I went to this store. I have had four prescriptions filled, and each time I had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. I needed ear drops for an infection I developed. The prescription was called in at 9:30 am. I went to pick it up at 5 pm., stood in line for 35 minutes only to be told when I got to the window that it would not be ready until tomorrow (today as I write this). It is 4 pm the next day and the prescription is still not ready. I have been on hold waiting to talk to a pharmacist for 35 minutes now and I get a recording: "our staff is busy answering other calls, please hold on and we will be with you shortly. There are more than 3 callers ahead of you". For over 30 minutes. This is the worst run pharmacy I have encountered in my 70 years. The ear infection is painful, and I am not able to get the medicine I need to mend. When (and if) I ever get my drops I will never go back. I strongly advise you to go elsewhere. read more

I don't know what everyone's problem is. I get great service from the pharmacy here. Diane is awesome. She always remembers my name, and asks about my BF and work, etc. They fill prescriptions very quickly - within 15 mins or so. The only time I've had problems has been because of insurance buracracy, not the actual pharmacy employees. Now the rest of the store...well, it leaves much to be desired. Slow clerks, never very helpful, and just kinda rude sometimes (when I ask where something is don't tell me "overthere", especially when "overthere" is wrong). They're good and convenient and you can't really knock that. However, now that Target's near by I may visit a little less often. read more

I just love this Walgreens. The staff is so friendly and attentive. I wouldn't normally take the time to write a review of a chain store unless they were bad, but the staff here just makes me feel so good, I want people to know what a great job they do. I have been in the store when they have had to deal with rough situations (thieves etc.) and they never lose their upbeat, friendly attitudes. I stop by this location when I'm in the neighborhood because they just do a much better job than my local store. I hope that this staff gets the recognition they deserve because they are amazing. read more

The key to this Walgreens is knowing what to buy here. I find the staff to be ok overall and one of the staff members is actually really sweet. Some things run cheap and are worth it. Other things like ink? Save your money and go to Office Depot. Seriously. read more

My review has nothing to do with me actually getting my prescription but I call in to check if it's ready and I know because my dr is my friend and he called in my prescription. This pharmacist or whatever who lacks professionalism wants to tell me no and then hang up on me. Then I get there and it's like she has complete attitude and is frankly a bitxh I don't have time to deal with her insecurities and frustrations when I'm there to pick up my prescription she also hung up on my dr who waited over 20 mins as well. Please put your pharmacist in check you will know who the one is with the attitude if you call in or speak with her. She needs to back down and just focus on her job. She has stringy brown hair and is a white basic chick in her late 20s but you will be aware of her attitude first before you even notice her. read more

every time i've gone to this walgreens, it's more likely that i won't find what i'm looking for. it's pretty run down and the staff working there aren't very helpful. the cashier's take forever. even if there's not a long line it takes alot of time to pay for something. they seem indifferent to everything and anything around them. i try to avoid this place even though it's pretty close to home. read more

I haven't been here for awhile and I remember why. The customer service here is so freaking terrible I decided to print some photos out. The machine told me to come there at 8:23 so I decided to come back. I came back and my pictures weren't even done. No one was at the photo section and it took 10 minutes for someone to show up after I asked if someone would assist me. Finally someone came and they said "oh, no one printed them out yet." They said it would take an additional hr for them to be completed. Only 3/7 photos got printed. Why does it take an hr to print the last 4???!???? So I said.. how much would it cost for the 3 photos and the person mentally calculated. I just wanted to go home and I paid for my photos. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I've been to this Walgreens many times. The majority of staff at this Walgreens are rude and very slow. Apparently, this Walgreens no longer accepts Walgreens Register Rewards and a manufacturer coupon in the same transaction. It has never been a problem before at this Walgreens location or any other location. Is this the new policy for all Walgreens or just this one? I know for a fact that stacking coupons is accepted at competing retailers, such as Rite Aid, CVS, Target, etc. I don't see a reason why a store or a cashier would refuse to accept more than one coupon if the coupons do not have any written restrictions. Anyway, the first cashier I encountered told me I could not use my register reward coupon and manufacturer coupon together. When I asked her why, she said "You can't use two coupons". I asked "Why? I've used two coupons in one transaction before." She again said, "You can't." I said, " The coupons don't have restrictions, so why can't I use them? Let me talk to a manager." She told me to move to another register to wait for the manager. Another member of staff came, (assuming she was the manager) I told her I would like to use the register reward and my manufacturer coupon for my purchase. She said ok and scanned my items and coupons. After I paid, the first cashier looked over and said loudly that I am being sneaky for trying to use the Walgreens register reward and a manufacturer coupon. The first cashier I encountered said again that I was "sneaky" to who I think was actually the manager, when he walked over. As I was leaving, the manager looking guy said "toodaloo". I'm sorry... I thought I was a paying customer, not a thief. What kind of customer service is that? I was just trying to save a couple bucks. Stacking coupons has never been an issue anywhere as long as the coupons do not have written restrictions! For the record, I was not trying to be sneaky. I thought the second staff member was the manager. Also, the coupons scanned without any problem. If the computer lets it scan, what is the issue? I will not be coming back to this Walgreens unless I have no other option. read more

I have shopped at this Walgreens for decades and have liked their goods and their service. Recently something happened which raised my appreciation of their service enormously. Last May I lost my wallet while shopping. I knew it had happened either at this store or at the nearby Luckys. A search in both stores failed to turn it up. So goodbye, little wallet, I figured. Last week a small packet with this Walgreens return address on it arrived in my mail. When I opened it, lo and behold, there was my wallet! And in the wallet all the money and other items. There was no card or note in the packet, so I can't name who it was that made the find and return. Whoever you are I appreciate your honesty and kindness. Thanks. So, newly remodeled store, wow, it was so clean and shinny inside, not crowded and quick service, made one big mistake, bought half gallon of milk on the 28th of Sept. it was suppose to be expired on the 2nd of Oct. ok, but it went bad or was bad when i opened it on the 29th. ok Berkeley Farms may not be the best (the only farms in berkeley are pot farms) but one should never find bad milk. or, was the store to new and the refrigeration units not low enough to keep milk safe? will never know, they wanted a receipt for the milk and i could not find mine, so, stuck with bad milk and now no milk. 1. The cashiers never greet you. The act like they are incompetent. They move extremely slow. If you greet them, they act like they do not know how to respond. 2. It seems like the staff at the store aren't trained properly. Everytime I come there is always a long line and a long wait even if there is just a few customers. A few times I have came in to get a monthly pass added on my clipper cards and they end up putting a dollar amount on there instead of the monthly amount. This has happened more than two or three times. Tonight I come in at 9:57 p.m. and they already have their doors locked when the closing time isn't until 10 p.m. I will be taking this to corporate. Either management and the staff needs to do the job right and needs better training or they need to get new people in there. read more

This is not only a run of the mill Walgreens, but it's my local one as well. Though to be quite honest I don't utilize this Walgreens as much as I do the two in Alameda. I guess I'm just used to the one at Southshore, or whatever. It can't be helped all the time I suppose, but the beggars can be a bit much, although I haven't seen any the last few times I have been there, so maybe that's been resolved, or it's the cold. I can't say that I've had horrible experiences here. But the last time I came I was the second person in line, and there was an eccentric customer in front of me. All I had to purchase was a calendar (though not the specific one I was looking for), and it was taking a while. Needless to say the customer but her small dog on the counter and continued to have a conversation with the employee. The employee then went a little behind her station to get scissors to cut (apparently) the small bag of dog food/treats the customer was buying, so the customer could feed one to her dog. I thought this was all weird, especially since I did not see a transaction for the purchase. I guess the worker was doing the girl a favor, but it was all weird. I'm not the biggest germophobe, but I wouldn't be comfortable or cool putting my next purchases where that lady just had her dog walking around. It was weird that the employee did not even try to stop her or correct her. I ended up just leaving without buying my $2 calendar. Also, there was a tow truck in the parking lot with a guy inside, and since I watch Parking Wars (love that show), I can only assume that some people park there without patronizing the store. That is extremely helpful for those of us who need a spot to shop there. read more

Walgreens = Photo Center! Just last week I picked up an order of photo cards which I'm using as thank you cards. I ordered them the night before only and they were ready the next morning. What I like about Walgreens is that it always has little things that I randomly need. For example, I went to the Lucky's next door while grocery shopping and in search of bug spray, but no dice. Luckily, I knew Walgreens would have it. Moreover, they usually have sales on many items which is helpful for my wallet! The folks here are kind and quick to help. This is a store that closed for renovations: I am reviewing that the store actually kept employees employed. For this we are grateful in this new economy. Ok, here is an update for E 18th Street. I was driving my mom around doing some errands and when I passed Richmond I stopped in the Walgreens on San Pablo near that casino area. I had to have some sunglasses and when I got to the cash, who was there but one of my favorite people from the Walgreens on 18th. I recognized N and she said : "You remember me!!" She said the store might be completed in August, that she lives near the old store and has been working in Richmond since last June when they closed. It is good to know the store kept most of the people who were regulars, even though they are coming back to the same old place in a new skin. I wonder if the poor homeless and beggars out front will now have a dress code just for the opening? This employee is one of the best and always was helpful so for that info that she still has a job somewhere, I was grateful for it had been a concern of mine when they dynamited the old place. read more

This new Walgreens is big and clean-- it's brand new. The lines are short, the selections are plentiful, and most things are not bolted down like in the downtown location. I like it. read more

The pharmacy here is TERRIBLE. Regardless of whether there is 1 or 5 people in line, you will wait at least 25 minutes!! The concept of working quickly when there is a long line is non-existent. It's especially annoying when Walgreens contacts you 10 different ways about a Rx and then they don't know what you are talking about when you get here. read more

This store, the employees, and especially the greeters and Phillip R. Eddy, a manager, are fabulous. I always get instant help and it seems they are very knowledgeable about what products they carry and where they are shelved. I never have to wait in long lines, something about 3 here and a few months ago an employee, very agreeable and courteous gave me a survey slip which i am only now getting around to responding to. This employees name was Sonita, a very pleasant and prompt person as well. I have been wanting to compliment these people for their excellent attitudes and helpfulness but the Walgreens website was too challenging. Best Wishes read more

Went to Walgreens and their pharmacy was closed with no sign stating when they would be reopening. Walked around and asked employees when the pharmacy would open and no one knew. This is highly unprofessional and should be immediately corrected. read more

The nearest major pharmacy to where I live. Always got my prescriptions filled here because of that. Recently, my wife had two pain medications to get in preparation for knee surgery. The pharmacist here refused to fill them because he said it was on the wrong form. A couple of other pharmacies would have filled it but they didn't have the drug in stock. We went back here, tried to reason with the guy but he was unmoved. Went to a different Walgreens and got if filled, no problem. I called to make a complaint and ultimately got connected with this store manager, who totally defended the position their pharmacist had taken. Despite the fact that I've never been that happy with their service (before then I would have given them 2.5 start or so, I continued to get my prescriptions filled here. No more. Mediocre service at best, downright rotten when you need them most. read more

There is an Asian girl who I think is the pharmacist and she was great when I lost my inhaler, gave it to me right away and then rang me up. However, there us a tall Asian guy there that is so rude. He was on the phone for at least 10 mins while I waited in line n didn't get off until there was 3 people behind me and then he proceeded to ring me up, but not the 2 other things I had and then I was still trying to be nice and said thank you..his response was "yeah" with an attitude. This is the closest Walgreens to my house and I go here frequently. They always have lots of things on sale and have good discounts with my Walgreens card. I usually get some of the clearance items for really good prices but after today I'm extremely skeptical. I bought three items that were on sale for reduced prices and even had tags saying they were reduced but when the woman rang it all up the amount was more that what it said on the tag. Beware of the reduced prices because today I found out that they are more expensive than the tag reads. read more

Only complaint about this pharmacy is it's understaffed. They have a drive-through, but be prepared to wait longer than if you go into the store and stand in line. I've gone here for years but the wait for prescriptions is forcing me to look around at other pharmacies. read more

Just switched to this pharmacy yesterday and they gave me 3 months of the generic brand of my prescription, which causes much worse side effects for me. I told the pharmacist this and she said "that might be true" as if she would know how my body reacts to meds better than I do. I didn't check it before I left the store because my doctor told me what she was sending over so I trusted I would get the right prescription. Now the pharmacy says I'd have to pay out of pocket for their mistake or am stuck with a brand that doesn't work for my body for the next 3 months. This place has poor reviews for a reason. read more

Usually I'm VERY happy with Walgreens stores. Unfortunately, I have noticed a pattern within the Oakland locations; the service simply does not stand up to the standards found in their SF locations. I have tried to get prescriptions filled at the E. 18th location, and EVERY time there has been some sort of problem with filling it resulting in delays, frustration, and many hours at their pharmacy counter trying to speak with someone who knows what's going on (e.g. when I called to find out why the prescription was not ready at the stated time and date, the pharm tech replied "Your insurance doesn't cover it" and hung up the phone. When I called my insurance company, they assured me that the E. 18th Walgreens location had already billed them and that the prescription was covered - sure enough, Walgreens confirmed this after going in person to speak with three people to resolve the issue.). After this happening about a half dozen times, I will find somewhere else in the East Bay to get my prescriptions filled. read more
