So I walked inside and asked the girl, who was busy giving some old guy his scratchies for the week, "can you please authorize pump 5?" Her response, "I can't do that." I just stared at her. I looked around and said, "OK well who can?" She repeated, "I'm not allowed to do that." I explained that I swiped my card, the pump was waiting for some kind of authorization so I could pump my gas. Her response? "OK just try your card as credit."

Seriously? I am not in that area often. I mentioned it was raining the next couple of times I went by. The horribly rude worker told me it was not raining for 30 days. I only point that all out so I can say with some authority that after visiting Speedway locations in about 8 states, this is the most incredible station I've visited. It's in a great location (if you happen to live in Plainfield, which I don't) right on the Lincoln Highway (if you happen to know about that.) The station is huge with more pumps than I could count and a full truck stop area for 18 wheelers. The store is enormous with more selection than any Speedway I've visited before. The most unique feature of this particular store is a grill. Yes, a grill. Most Speedway locations have pizza and sandwiches, along with a roller grill and so does this one, but it has a grill! Food is cooked to order, which you place on a kiosk workstation. The computer gives you a confirmation which you take to the register. Once your order is paid for, the confirmation becomes a receipt and you simply wait for your number to be called. Incidentally, this Speedway had the lowest gas price I paid in the full length of Illinois on my trip. Yup, I'm a fan!

I searched for the cashier and found an older lady manning the front scoffing through the aisles as she was grabbing items for delivery orders. She didn't acknowledge me until I said I was picking up for someone. She rudely told me she's finishing it up and obviously not having the best mood so I waited patiently until I got an additional order so I told her I can pick up another order. She yelled with quite a temper and asked me if I can't see that she's clearly working on it and that I have to wait. I replied that I am in no rush. When she finished the 2nd order, she was still annoyed at what she's doing, even figuring out the stickers she has to attach to the bags irritated her more. Once done, I said "Have a nice day." and she replied with "Yeah yeah" with an attitude. As much as I like picking up orders from here, I don't think I'll do so whenever I see her working there. Yes, I am not a customer but her customer service is clearly not what you can call outstanding, not even an inch closer to satisfactory. Hopefully she's just stressed out or something.

I'm a fuel rewards member, received the membership and card at this location. Attempted to use my…read morereward points that are linked to my debt card at this station. The first time it didn't automatically use my rewards, which is the sole purpose of linking the rewards to a debit or credit card. The customer service department at the fuel rewards card fixed that issue. And told me, this issue shouldn't happen again and if it does. Go into the store and the managers can fix it immediately and apply them to your purchase. This morning it happened again, as advised by CS. I go in to have the manager apply my rewards. The manager or supervisor that didn't identify herself in any way. So she could be just staff. Process to tell me, you have to activate the card. So I told her the story a second time. Which clearly says the card is active. And that I was instructed to come in if my rewards aren't automatically applied to my purchase from the card. So She says, "did you enter the card or the number?" I asked her if she knew how the linked credit cards worked and if she knew what the word "automatically" meant. She told me I can't help you if you don't enter the card or the number. Here's a word of advise to the Circle K leadership. Train your front line managers, and staff on how the fuel rewards work. Train them on how to resolve issues and to go above and beyond for service recovery efforts. I actually pass a BP gas station to frequent this store. However, that stops now.
