Lowering to one star because I made a horrible mistake of getting a flu shot here and watching them butcher it was absolutely horrifying. Every step, from making the appointment to having them not honor the appointment to the vaccine itself to screwing up the insurance, was a massive failure. Please go literally anywhere else. Staff was friendly but I got totally ripped off on the Passport/Visa photo services. I unknowingly paid $11.99 for 2 prints - then found out later that I could have gone to Costco and gotten 4 prints for $4.99. I call in my monthly prescription at least 3 days before I need it. It's controlled so I am unable to do sooner, I literally wait until I need the next pill and every single time they haven't gotten to it! I have to wait or come back every time. They say ok we've fixed it this time and then the next month comes and it's the same thing. "All the covid shots and tests, we're not able to get to this queue" but for 3 days you haven't looked at the queue!? Hey Walgreens, I think it may be time to hire some more help. Buyer Beware. This pharmacy has staffing issues and whomever the manager is they need to streamline their processes. If you go through the drive thru be prepared to be in line for at least an hour. Something in that process needs to change for the better. Most of the time when you go inside to pick up your meds, the pharmacy counter is flat out closed, sorry out of luck, come back later. This has been ongoing to months or maybe even a year or so which reflects poorly on the manager. Why can't they hire and keep people at this location? If you want your meds on time choose another pharmacy or else be prepared to fight to get your meds from this location all the time. Mr or Mrs Manager of this store please read this review and do something to change your drive thru window for the better, like maybe only pick up and drop off instead of making people wait in the line to get the prescription filled on the spot. You are making a dangerous situation for all traffic when your drive thru line is all the way onto capital hwy because you cannot manage your drive thru in an efficient and professional manner...... read more

Poor customer service - the assistant manager named Dan and the employees really need more training before they are put to work so they can be consistent with what the store offers and what price their service is. The first time I went in for passport photos, I had to wait for the employees to finish pushups, teasing and laughing around before they come over. I need one more set, so I went back in to the store a couple of days later. It took one employee an hour and thirty minutes to get my one set of passport photo right. After the manager Dan was called because two employees has two different opinions of how to charge for the photos, he did the absolutely the worst from a customer point of view - no apology for the time delay, questioning my integrity as a customer, and charged me the highest price... I am OK with paying for whatever a store's standard price is, but I am not OK with the rudeness, the excessively long wait time (1.5 hours for a set of passport photo?!) and the price flip-flop! I have had passport photos taken in many other places, Costco, AAA, and even the shop across the street from this store - Action Fast Photo ( I think that's the name) , it has always been pleasant and quick. Though I live nearby this store, I will never shop here again. To me, if this represents Walgreen's service standard, it show how little they care. This level of service is scary for a company that deals with prescriptions. Can one imagine the poor quality of work and consistency to be in action in their pharmacy department?! read more

New, Clean, and Cheery. Think they open a little late....8am, for a general drug store. I ran into grab a ladies necessity before work and was discouraged to see they were not open at 7, 7:30am. Dang. Hell, I'd want to sleep in, too. A little awkward parking and getting in and out of parking lot. Beer selection-excellent. Even better-The prices. I wasn't even planning on buying beer but saw Rolling Rock 6p bottle 3.99...perfect on the way to a friends. Nice pharmacy staff. I like Walgreens chain and live and will support this one. This new Walgreens is very nice! Who doesn't appreciate shiny new tile floors and a freshly paved parking lot? This store is different than your typical Walgreens because it has lots of natural lighting with the large windows lined around the top. It's well organized and the store attendants are helpful for locating anything you may need. The only downside is the parking lot is a bit tough to get in and out since its located next to a busy (and complicated) intersection. read more

For a Walgreens this place is Top Notch. This bright little location popped up pretty fast this year. It's super clean and well organized. I love stopping by for all my basic necessities on my way home from work. I really try not to spend a fortune here. I seem to buy way more than I come in for. This week they're selling leggings for $5.99 in a complete rainbow of colors. I bought two pair and they ROCK. No need to spend a fortune on leggings. I'm still only slightly embarrassed to admit I bought leggings at Walgreens. In October they had Pumpkin Spice Beer by Elysian. Who knew Walgreens could be so hip? So yeah, the toilet paper brings me in but the pink mascara keeps me smiling. Every single employee has been super friendly and helpful. Excellent service. It's such a treat to pop in here every week. read more

Wow, for a Walgreens store, lots of controversy... I am in accord with fellow Yelpers as far as the pharmacy issues as it can be hit or miss. Some of the the techs are wonderful and others make me squirmy. Dan, one of the pharmacists, is superb in pharmacist service. I had a bad reaction with a maintenance drug which they changed manufacturers and I told him and he investigated and ordered the older manufactured drug for me that I tolerated better. BAM. He also has provided a great deal of information as to side effects and the like, always very informative and helpful. Granted, the man sees me every month for refills but I remain impressed that he always greets me by my first name and I am sure he has thousands of customers go by. Squeaky clean, well stocked, and ready for a sale of something you really don't need but you find it and buy it otherwise, this Walgreens is a neighborhood treasure. I have found the most interesting of finds there, from a very good bottle of champagne (who knew?) to old brand first aid products that I thought would never be found again. Oh, their text system. This is a cluster fuck as I get texts that tell me to pick up RX's I have not ordered or status of mystery RX's that are not mine. One day, I received 18 texts and I am sure there was a major glitch in the system but I have leaned to call and verify any text for pick up that may be real (meaning, those I have ordered and am awaiting pick up). Otherwise, I do love the convenience of text for pick up. I count my blessings theses day and I am happy to have the big Red W close by in my neighborhood. read more

After walking in the snow for miles I wouldn't expect many people who are working in this weather to be well mannered, and kind. I needed insulin so I had no choice but to venture out, and pick it up at this store. I've never been disappointed with the service I received here, but this was especially noteworthy. The pharmacist named Kelsey was very kind (as they usually are), but when I asked about how she was fairing with the snow storm she proceeded to express that she will always have the ability to take care of the needs of people here because she has a 4 wheel drive vehicle. She proceeded to smile, and wish me the best as I traveled in the snow. It really made my day to realize that there are kind individuals like her who still derive satisfaction from helping others. this seriously is the best manager ive come across in any business in a while...i dont know her name, but shes super friendly, professional, works hard/efficiently, and once i was embarrassingly like 1.75 short and w o even saying anything she ran back to the break room or somewhere and came back and spotted me and i really appreciated that. very cool of her. also, someone forgot there mask once and just the way she politely offered them a mask instead of yelling at them, i just hope her bosses recognize that you can't find a better manager at least from a customers perspective and honestly there's a lot of shitty customer service from entitled portlandians and others. read more

My doc sent a prescription for Colchicine to my regular pharmacy. The pharmacy called me to say they didn't have it, but they said if I'd call Walgreens and ask Walgreens to contact them (my regular pharmacy) they (Walgreens) could fulfill it. So I called Walgreen's, we set this up, a woman said they would text me when it was ready... she said it would take about two hours. And I got a text from Walgreens asking if I wanted to receive texts, and I responded YES. This was at 12:26 pm, according to my phone. Time passed... no text. I went to the airport, picked people up, drove to Sherwood, had dinner. Coming back, close to 7:30 pm I stopped at Walgreens and went into the pharmacy, thinking 'she said two hours... surely they have it now, seven hours later.' So I wait in line, and eventually it's my turn, and I give my details and explain to the woman what I am there for. She says, 'Nope, we don't have anything for you.' I said 'But I talked to someone here around noon, she said two hours.' She went off (rather huffily) to talk to someone, and then came back and said 'we have it, they only just faxed it over-- seven minutes ago. We close in 15 minutes (by now it was 7:47pm). Maybe I can get it for you, but you'll have to wait.' I said something like 'Bowman's (my pharmacy) closes at 6. I don't think they just now faxed it over to you.' So essentially, I suppose, I was calling her a liar. Anyway, at that point I said, 'Don't bother. I'll get it elsewhere.' And I left. And I will not be back. Surly service, fail. read more

I called in prescriptions to avoid having to wait and so the staff can better schedule their workload as a courtesy. On multiple times I was promised my prescriptions would be ready at a particular time but when I arrive the prescriptions were not. Sometimes it is because the pharmacist needed to call the physician to authorize a refill or it was too early to refill the prescription. Of course these are valid reasons for delays but why can't they check this and notify their customers on the phone when the prescriptions are being called in? I can't tell you how many times I have driven to Walgreens on Barbur to be told that I would have to return later. Waste of time. However the straw that broke the camels back was when was I prescribed a mild sleeping pill to make it through a family tragedy and I called in my prescription early for refill. I was going out of town and I explained to the pharmacist on the phone that my prescription would run out while I was away. The pharmacist kindly said that she would fill the prescription early. When I arrived at the pharmacy to pickup my prescription a male pharmacist at the drive-through window told me he would not fill the prescription early. When I explained that I was going out of town he said in an agitated voice, in front of another employee, that he was "not going to hand out these pills like candy like other pharmacists". I was embarrassed and angry and left without saying another word. He treated me like some kind of drug addict. I am 62 years old and I have never needed a sleeping pill before and have never taken opioid pain medications in my entire life. I will never use Walgreens pharmacy on Barbur again, ever. read more

The customer service I received was ridiculous. (The employees were nice, yes, but their training in business management/customer service needs serious help). I went in to get a couple passport sized photos. I originally asked for 2 for the price of $11.16 or so, the employee asked if I wanted any additional ones and I replied with the question, "will the price remain the same?". The employee responded with a "yes, the price will be the same regardless of how many you receive". So, I understood this as a "great, regardless of the number of copies I receive, I'll pay $11.16", which surprised me yes, which I felt was obvious in my response when I appeared surprised (since logically, more photos printed costs more, but it sounded like a flat price). I went in the next day to buy the photos and it came to a total of $39.95. I started by saying that I was not told it would be that price, can we please look into it? After there was no resolution, i asked for the manager. When the manager approached me, i calmly expressed my situation and frustration. I explained, "I understand it may cost more for each pair of photos, however, that's not how it was understood. I was told that 'regardless of how many you get, the price stays the same'". I said that I refused the pay the 40 dollars and asked for the 8 photos for the original price I was led to believe it would cost. She refused and said I had to pay the $39.95 for the 8. They took three pairs of photos out, and I paid for the one pair. I see 6 photos sitting on their counter (that is not included in the $11 that I paid) that they'll only be forced to toss. They cannot gain anything by keeping them. Frustrated even more, I asked to talk to her again. When I explained that they are only going to toss those three pairs away, I would like to take them considering I paid what I originally understood would cost for all 4 pairs. She said, "It costs us money and we can't give them away for free". I understand the logic, printing more photos costs more money (which is why I was originally surprised the price would "remain the same"). But the situation is this, I paid what I thought it would cost, but you refuse to resolve the situation with an upset customer by giving them the 6 additional photos that you CANNOT do anything else with. You're not making any money by keeping them. You're only losing money by letting me leave frustrated and ensuring I leave a negative review and NOT coming back. The frustration in a customer and the negative review is much more of a loss than giving me the 6 passport sized photos you'll have to toss. Great customer service guys! read more

I moved to the neighborhood recently and switched from Rite Aid to Walgreens. It wasn't as smooth of a transition as I'd hoped. I don't like the refill system at Walgreens, as I felt harassed by the number of calls asking me if I wanted a refill, then a phone call every day I didn't pick my refill up once it was ready. I finally asked the pharmacist to take me off the call list, and he made it seem like it wasn't such an easy process. The calls finally stopped. Then after refilling one of my prescriptions, I asked one of the pharmacy techs to place a prescription on auto-refill. When a month passed and it was time for the refill to be renewed, I called the store to check to see if the prescription was ready. It wasn't, and I asked why because the tech told me she had put it on auto refill. It wasn't placed on auto refill, and the pharmacist on the phone didn't seem the least bit sorry or surprised. I finally set up an account online to do it myself. The store is nice and new, but if I have one more problem with one of my prescriptions I'm switching pharmacies. I also wish the pharmacy had longer hours of operation. Not open until 10am on Sundays? Yikes. read more

I came in here around 3:00pm I was standing at an end cap and this old woman (I'm guessing she was part of management because she was dressed different than everyone else and her head was so large for her shoulders from all the gloat that comes with it) comes swinging around the corner running into me. She proceeding to make a grunting noise as if I pissed her off. Mumbled to herself and walked around an island display and looked back shooting a nasty nasty look at me and talking sh*t to herself. OK. Srsly. This lady needs to get checked. I will now call corporate and complain about how rude she was for no reason as if I was in her home bothering her. I have never in my life gotten glared at by an employee because I'm in THERE way. Wtf. Go work night shift you old hag if you have a problem with people SHOPPING in a STORE during the DAYTIME.
