BEWARE of Walgreens Pharmacy! CHECK YOUR MEDICATION BEFORE LEAVING! I have used Walgreens Pharmacy for quite some time now, mainly because I didn't know where else to go as a new resident of NV. While I haven't really had any significant problems in the past, my most recent experience with their pharmacy renders that a moot point. I recently had a surgical procedure performed for which an opiate pain medication was prescribed. It never occurred to me to check or count my pills, I automatically trusted that I received the correct medication. Turns out, several of my pain medication tablets were switched out with aspirin. I don't think I have ever purchased aspirin a day in my life, so the screwup was definitely not on my end. Further, no one has access to my medication aside from me. Once I discovered this error, I immediately contacted the pharmacy to report it. The first woman with whom I spoke, May, was extremely rude and refused to believe that pills could be switched. May told me that "human error is impossible," and essentially accused me of lying. When I informed May that I was a doctor and I know for a fact that human error is possible, she hung up on me/transferred me to the pharmacist, Rachel. Fortunately, Rachel, the pharmacist at Walgreens was much more pleasant to speak to and at least humored my complaint. I told her there was absolutely no way this mixup occurred on my end, and that what happened is extremely serious. I'm a doctor, not an MD, but I know that taking aspirin before surgery may result in serious implications. Fortunately, my surgery went well, but not only was I out several pain tablets, I was also made out to look like a drug-seeker when I returned to the ER and had no medication left. Rachel stated that an investigation would be taking place, and that she needed to "follow the bottle," which I hope is taking place as we speak. If this isn't resolved at this level, I will be reporting this to the DEA. There is something shady going on with this pharmacy, and both the authorities and the public should be aware that they may not be receiving the correct number or type of medication their scripts indicate. If you decide to continue using this pharmacy, please COUNT/CHECK your medication prior to leaving the store. Regardless of what their investigation turns up, I will not be returning to this pharmacy in the future, they have lost my trust. Thank you for reading. read more

Okay, I admit it. A few years ago, after coming off a week on the Playa at Burning Man and before checking into our hotel for the night, we stopped here for a quick run in to pick up a bunch of things you need after surviving a week in the desert: cough drops, hair conditioner, CHOCOLATE, bottles of Starbucks mocha frappucinos, band-aids, sunburn ointment. Considering I walked in looking like a hot mess (playa dirt encrusted in my hair and a week's worth of dirt on my clothes), I fit right in with the homeless folks hanging outside the doors. I left another review and somehow it didn't post from this one and it left it under a brand new account, however Jerry the pharmacist last night was scolding employees, mainly a young female and chose to yell/cuss at her in front of lines of customers, stopped what he was doing even to do this while there were people waiting inside and out, a big line as people were getting off work and he was very degrading and yelling st the staff in front of customers. Specifically told her "look I'm the one in charge and I'll throw your ass do you understand" and I have no idea what happened as I had been for 40 minutes observing and listening. He was very unprofessional and I know the pharmacy Rachel wouldn't stand for that and neither should Walgreens however she's on maternity leave. This needs to be handled! I've always gone here for any prescriptions, and they've been pretty quick about it.The only thing I absolutely hate is how you can feel the floor move since it's on a bridge. I can really feel it, and it freaks me out sometimes. Feels wavy, so it kinda makes me feel sick too while I wait for meds or pictures. Entrances and exits can be confusing with the one way streets surrounding it. So be careful, downtown get pretty busy at times. Today, I picked up a FedEx package that I held. I did not even know they had this service. How cool is that! The lady who helped me out was very nice and made sure I was just in and out of the store. It's really convenient as I live by the University, this is only a couple minute drive from my house. read more

Forgot I had a prescription waiting at Walgreens. Was Delighted when a nice man called me today reminding me. I went in tonight and was waited on by a young, argumentative female clerk. I almost walked out. A lovely lady behind the counter made eye contact with me. She came right over pushing past the girl with attitude in order to Help me. Not sure of the spelling of her name but looked like Mailani. She was funny, so helpful, absolutely Delightful. Made me feel Cared for. I had Covid in October and am still having breathing issues with my lungs. I was there for another inhaler. Life Saving. I am So Glad that Mailani stepped forward and I was able to pick up my prescription and be treated with Respect. Thank You So Much, truly. read more

Pharmacy staff and pharmacy manager clearly have no concern for customer service. I had to get a prescription for a very Ill family member late on Sat 5/21. I drove 25 miles to get to this location, as it is open 24 hours. The pharmacist said the computer wasn't working properly and although the meds were eligible for the GoodRx coupon that I presented, the system was able to give me the $75 discount. He told me to come back within a week with the receipt and coupon and I would be credited the difference. I returned on Friday 5/27 only to be told by the pharmacy Manager that the system could not process a refund and she doesn't know why he told me that it would do that. I expected that she would honor the discount, especially when I was directed by her employee to drive all the way back. She initially tried to get the computer to process the discount but it didn't work. She then became very dismissive and finally said that Walgreens only honored those coupons as a courtesy not as an obligation. She didn't apologize for the inconvenience or anything else. When did doing the right thing for your customer become completely dependent on whether or not your computer system works? I can see why this store has such a poor rating. I am a faithful, long time Walgreens customer and spend a lot of money with Walgreens. I will never step foot in a Walgreens again. read more

Had to make a pit stop here during my trip to Reno. I left my Android charger back in Virginia so a charger was a must. The Airport wanted nearly 40 bucks! Go figure. So I found this Walgreens near the hotel within walking distance on Yelp. They had just what I needed at a reasonable price of $12.00. The store is surprising large with food items, snacks, pharmacy and all you'd expect from Walgreens. You can get all the necessary items you need from here. If you sign up for their rewards program, you can get even more discounts. Unfortunately when I was ready she was nowhere to be found and while Walgreens has great sales their regular prices are outrageous. The store could also be cleaner. Came into walgreens about 15 minutes ago, picked up prescription and got a heating pad some vitamins and toy with my wife, got to the registers and the woman working at 1:10am December 29th with brats earrings, SOUR attitude, rude, unprofessional and un-attentive. Went to the register, I noticed nobody was there, but there was things being rung up at the register, asked if someone was ahead of me, got ignored while the woman was on her cell phone, cursing with another associate, while scrolling on her phone and ignoring us, we got to the register, she rang our things up, my wife and I were checking the screen for a deal on vitamins for her heart and wanted to make sure they were BOGO, all while the woman was getting impatient and frustrated that we were just checking to see how the BOGO worked, and told me wife, " you have to buy the same bottle, to get BOGO, with a sour attitude told her " IF YOU CAN EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT." And then bagged our things, got back on her cell phone and we picked our bags up after paying from the actual bag metal holder. If you hate your job that badly, or act that unprofessional you should be fired. Absolutely not an excuse to act like this in a store. Most locals know this as the "Walgreens over the freeway" given that it's built literally on top of the I-80 tunnel made between Sierra and Center streets. Reno / Sparks / Carson only has two 24-hour pharmacies, and this Walgreens is one of them. Having graduated from UNR, I've been in this store more times than I care to count, and the thing that gets me is how seedy the parking lot can be. I would probably place this on its downtown location, however, there are plenty of transients and druggies to go around. Also, this store - for the amount of business that it does - is not very well maintained. There's always lots of trash, and you can tell that the floors are well-worn. The building also shakes when a truck goes underneath it. However, if you're downtown, this is pretty much it unless you go to the stores on Keystone, which aren't much better. Mae called back a couple of times within the next few hours with every excuse under the sun... Oh 'they hung up on me', 'they didn't answer', I verified the number & it was correct. I never write reviews because i know everyone is just trying to do their job but i was stuck behind a car in the drive thru to pick up a prescription and sat there for over 45 minutes at 10 pm. i was watching the mirror that shows the inside of the store and for 25 minutes not one person even stopped at the window to ask the car in front of me what's going on. i would've just walked inside but there were 4 cars behind me and i was trapped by a median. for being a non busy time i truly do not understand why this is happening. read more

This is a strange, little store. It's a Walgreens, but it's a lot like a closet. Consequently, selection is very limited. Customer service is generally pretty good. I appreciate when it's not crowded and the guys are pretty casual in conversation (yet still professional and quick to help). The store has the usual drugstore products you find these days, including a row of candy, humidifiers, seasonal items like ice scrapers, a whole assortment of over the counter medications, snacks, cosmetics, jewelry and some kitschy tourist items like dice with your name on it. What really makes this particular store standout are two things. 1. The pharmacy can get insanely busy during rush hour. 2. The pharmacy staff is generally excellent, far better than Smith's Food and Drug, Raley's or CVS in the area. Try going off peak hours for filling prescriptions. If it's convenient, I'd go elsewhere for ALL of your other pharmacy needs. This location is designed to exploit tourists near downtown and to catch people driving by on highway 80. The location is the worst thing that could happen to locals. The 24 hour open time is very convenient, both for the store and the pharmacy. read more

If you could do 0 stars I would have done that because this store doesn't deserve a star. Worst pharmacy I have incountered in my 61 yrs of life! I went in for Covid PCR test, I told the girl at the pharmancy counter what I was there for and showed her my appointment confirmation that clearly said COVID PCR TEST 3:OO. She printed up some forms asked a lot of questions like have I been exposed to Covid? Then after waiting along time I was taken into the booth and was almot given Tetanus shot, I was not there for a tetanus shot, My confirmation I showed them did not say anywhere I was there for a tetanus shot, I did not need a tetanus shot. When I told the guy that is not what I was there for he gave me attitude like I wasted his time. Then I was told to go thru the drive thru to have it completed,But before that they made me wait in line again to get the $9.00 back that they charged me. The guy at thedrive thru window had a attitude, He handed me the swab then had me just stick it back in the paper packaging and had me hand it back to him, Then he proceeded to tell me their machine is down and if it didn't come back up that night I would have to come back. By this time I had already been there over an Hr. I wrote a complaint and I received a call from the Pharmancy blaming me for their error of almost giving me a shot i didn't need. The girl at the counter lied and said I asked for the tetanus vaccine, The woman in charged turned everything around making it all my fault then started making excuses for their incompetence saying they are very busy and overwhelmed and that they do 8 things at a time. That I should have read the 2 pages of small print that they gave me while holding up the line that by this time was 9 deep. I do not recommend letting your elderly loved ones going to this store they could be given something they are not supposed to have. Being late on a Sunday, I called to confirm they have what I needed on hand. 26 minutes later I was disconnected with only a "thank you for calling Walgreens, please hold" for my effort. Not a good omen. Frustrated, I decided to take the plunge and head over, ignoring the little voice in my head warning that this would be a futile effort. After waiting in line for several minutes, I finally made it up to the pharmacy counter to discover my wait would be an additional 45 minutes and "we will call you when it's ready". I jumped into line again 75 minutes later never having heard my name called. During the foot numbing, varicose vein inducing wait, several pharmacy staff left, leaving one guy to placate the miserable masses of the ill and infirmed. Heaven forbid they have more than one person running the department and would it kill Walgreens to provide more than 3 flippin chairs for us waiting dupes to use towards some semblance of comfort? To conclude, I'm glad this location is here, is 24/7 and that I eventually left with product in hand. That said, I'm not happy about the experience. Pretty pissed off, actually. I can't blame the sole gent left to man the pharmacy at night. I seriously doubt he asked to fly solo. He certainly needed a wingman or two to keep customers moving and happy. The best part of this typical Walgreens is that it literally sits on top of I-80. I for one find that super awesome. It's not something that I have heard of nor seen elsewhere on the west coast. Inside this Walgreens are most of the typical Walgreens goods. However they have an expanded selection of knick knacks touristy area. Here they sell souvenirs at cheap prices compared to the souvenir shops in downtown around the casinos. Perhaps the best thing here is the pharmacy. If your in downtown and forgot your prescription or need a refill, this is a convient cheap place to get that rectified. Let alone it's handy to get some booze or snacks cheaper than a liquor store or 7-eleven. So I bet you will find this place handy just like I do. =) read more

I prefer to look online at weekly ads before heading here so I can get stuff on sale and add rewards points to my account. The people here are very helpful in helping me get what I got to get, and consistent with adding discounts and ensuring that I am satisfied with my service. Not your typical location. It's easy to see when you're on the freeway because it's located conveniently.. atop the freeway. 5 stars for the Photo department! I tend to pay particular attention to customer service when it's an emergency. In this case, some fellow bridesmaids and I were in need of 140wallet size photos for the wedding the next day. I was expecting to submit the order and return an hour later, but the photo guy (Shoutout to Renjith!!) Said once the machine warmed up it would take only a few minutes to print! We offered to give the machine a blanket and some hot tea, do jumping jacks - aaanything to help warm it up. But like he said, a few mins and about $35 later, we had the 140 wallet size photos!! Saved us time and an extra trip to Walgreens :) The only down side was we had to cut the photos ourselves since there are 4 per sheet, however the prints were beautiful! Just FYI, it was 4 (2x3)photos per sheet and $0.99 per sheet. They made great seat placement name cards/wedding favors. read more

Entering into downtown Reno, this is the first thing you see. The parking lot is big and well lit. This is a good thing, since there are often toothless tweekers chillin' out front. The Walgreens is clean, and has everything you would normally find in any Walgreens. The checkers are a bit slow, but if the line gets backed up, everyone in the store will come help out, including the photo area and makeup area. You can get in and out in a few minutes. We always stop here to buy water for the room, so we don't have to pay $3/bottle at the casino. Plus they have an assortment of lube and extra large Red Bulls! : ) Ooooooh and they're open 24 hours! :) read more

This is definitely one of the better Walgreens stores, and I've found that the specials and sales they often have are much cheaper in the long run than some of the retail grocery stores in town. It's open 24 hours and has a very friendly staff. It's very busy at times, and sometimes there's a wait to check out, but I can't fault the store for this - everyone in this town seems to be keeping labor at a minimum these days due to the shattered economy. Tip: It's best to make the effort to walk or drive here during your downtown visits vs. patronizing the several souvenir shops and locally owned markets within the casino corridor. I usually don't have a problem with buying local, but these said places seem to nickel and dime you for everything that's already very highly priced - all the way down to debit card surcharges. And yes, as another reviewer pointed out, watch your back coming in and going out. This store, unfortunately, seems to be one of the top places for panhandlers and crackheads to hang out that I've ever encountered in this city. I've heard enough sob stories here to write a book! Beware of this pharmacy! After a Saturday ER visit, this store was the only one open. Had to wait almost two hours dropping off my prescription, while fighting in line with all the pain pill abusers walking in and out. They said insurance denied the rx, and I had to pay almost $200 "if I wanted it tonight." I had my doctor fax a copy of the authorization, but they refused to honor it. I asked they call the office to request an alternative antibiotic, but the staff rudely told me they don't do that and to call the doctor myself! I will NEVER go here again, even in an emergency. read more

Called at 8am to get my prescription refilled. Was told it would be ready at 11. Showed up at 12:25 and was told I had to wait another 5 minutes for it to be ready! Are you kidding me! It takes 4 and 1/2 hours to fill a prescription! Pathetic. read more

My Yelp karma was back in action this weekend. I encountered no crackheads on either visit to the downtown Walgreen's. It was a five minute walk from our hotel and I visited twice in two days for bottled waters and snacks. The first day I walked over by myself at approximately 7 in the morning. The following day my daughter joined me as we made our way over around 8am. In comparison with our local branch, it was much cleaner, quieter, and less crowded. I suppose this is serviceable enough as a mini-mart type grocery store. But, the pharmacy is slower then molasses and there are always dodgy looking people hanging around, something no one seems interested in doing anything about. Shelves of other merchandise often look pillaged. I occasionally stopped in here before the N. McCarran and Mae Anne store opened, but now I avoid it like the plague. One good thing: this pharmacy is open 24 hours, but the N. McCarran one is not, so go here for your late night needs. read more

Today we came back to get the same prescriptions and he said her insurance isn't contracted with walgreens. However, they were two days ago. He made her pay $80 for her prescription and was not helpful. Bad service. Will not be coming back for prescriptions. read more

Large store in a really great location. unfortunately it's a hot spot for homeless and other panhandlers. My biggest issue is the Pharmacy does not accept Amerigroup Insurance, which unfortunately is what most Medicaid holders are under, so if you need your prescription filled, take it to CVS. read more
