This place has gone downhill since Vivian left. I was ever so lucky to come in contact with Bilal, the pharmacy manager. When going to fill my prescription, he called me suspicious twice because I had to switch pharmacies. I just moved back to San Diego and was not about to drive a 10 hour round trip to pick up my prescriptions. When asking him if he had checked my cures (the National drug monitoring site) he stated he had, however when I asked him a further question, it was clear he had not. I'm a chronic pain patient and have been filling this combination of medication for years, including at this store while Vivian was there. I called corporate, spoke with the manager of the store who apologized profusely, as did corporate. I wanted an apology from him specifically. I just got off the phone with him and the apology was 'I'm sorry you feel that way but I'm not filling your prescriptions'. Here's the thing, that's the most backhanded apology I have ever received, including from my toddler nephew. Corporate will be getting another call Monday as well as his licensure entity for violating HIPAA in discussing my prescriptions loudly with other customers behind me in the store. The kicker is they had gotten clearance from my doctor to fill all of them, and they filled two but not the other one. Make that make sense. I had JUST gotten out of the hospital (as i said, chronically ill and on my way out, which you can't tell by looking at me but you can tell by the fact I've spent more days in the hospital this year than my own home), this is the last thing i need to be dealing with. What a disgusting mess Walgreens has created in hiring this man. I stated multiple times to not even worry about the rx, it's the disgusting attitude that I was more worried about. That was all they were focused on, not the fact that I was humiliated by this man in the middle of a store for picking up my prescriptions that I've been on for years. Today I was getting a prescription when the pharmacy tech blew his nose behind the counter. He didn't wash his hands and began touching stuff. When I asked him to wash his hands he stated he wasn't doing anything. He continued to argue about washing his hands. This is a direct violation of infection control policies in place. COVID-19 is still an issue. I'm sure patients don't want someone blowing their nose and then handling their medications. Many people who have compromised immune systems pick up prescriptions and can die from simple infections. WASH YOUR DANG HANDS! Or better yet stay home if you are possibly infectious. read more

And when asked about ETA I had the women at the pharmacy counter rolling their eyes and telling me to deal with it. We came to Walgreens to pick up some snacks before heading to the park. I tend to snack on stuff before having a late lunch. It depends where I am at the time. Anyway, I like the stuff Walgreens had. Their Nestle chocolate bars were 39 cents each. An array of candy was on sale. We also grabbed drinks. I'm always trying to stay hydrated. As we walked around, my daughter likes to check out the toy section. She managed to find an activity book and some mechanical pencils with refills. Pretty cool deals. When we went to check out, there was only one register open but two more opened up. A nice lady in a wheelchair offered us to go ahead first but we declined because she was in a wheelchair. We were in no rush to go anyway. The cashiers did an excellent job by helping every customer check out. That's team work. So glad they saw the long line. I really think that it's about assisting each customer. Sometimes we wait in line for an eternity but the three cashiers working here did an excellent job. All were very nice. read more

Walgreens has always been the go to place for souvenirs but this branch in particular has the best selection especially for shot glasses. Theyre all good quality and inexpensive too. $1.99 for an engraved shotglass whereas souvenir shops sell lower quality ones for double. Now I know exactly where to take my out of town buddies souvenir shopping. read more

Extremely busy Walgreen's-located on the congested corner of Midway & Rosecrans. However, despite that, this Walgreen's is a very good one. I do a lot of shopping here but I mostly come early in the morning before the parking lot gets crazy. Every weekend, there are high school charity car washes behind the store & the most delicious BBQ tent set up in the front. Inside, though the place often runs out of the advertised specials, the cashiers will happily give you a rain check. The nicest people work here, like longtime cashier-Yvonne and the wonderful cosmetics clerk-Ethel. There are people that come up to help you when the lines get too long at the front end. Even the new, young training clerks seem pleasant and eager to answer questions. This Pt. Loma Walgreen's has a lot of tourists from the nearby hotels and motels. I have spoken with people from all over the world who pop into this Walgreen's for sunscreen or a cold water bottle. Yes, it's true-the homeless hang around here a lot. They have been displaced by all the construction next door where a brand new Discount Tires store is being built, and one fellow told me he likes Walgreen's because they have the "cheapest prices on Camel cigarettes!" This is specifically for one of the pharmacy folks - Damaris. She is just plain rude. I went in to pick up my meds and there was some confusion. I was explaining to another lady who was trying to help me that I received notification that two meds were ready and two were still pending. There was a mix up with the meds which is why two were good and two were not. I told the other lady that my insurance was charged and before I could say anything else, Damaris walks up and interrupts me telling me that the doctor didn't approve the meds. I told her that I reviewed a notice and she again cut me off and asked if it was automatic or a person. I was trying to tell her that I originally got a automatic notification but I had called before coming to make sure it was correct but before I could say anything as soon as I said automatic she starts saying the automatic system is stupid and doesn't understand the meds were rejected. I again tried to tell her I had called but she interrupted me again. I then asked if she could please let me finish what I was saying. In stead she throws up her hands and said I'm leaving and walks away. I asked what? And she huffs and storms away. Who acts like that? Unbelievable read more

Lots of stuff, but this visit was for the pharmacy for which I was disappointed. The pharmacist and assistants were kind, but the wait was ridiculous! I stopped in to pick up a prescription for a very sick friend. She'd called ahead of time to make sure it was okay and explained what her prescriptions were for. They gave permission but failed to mention it would take over an hour once I dropped the prescription off! You try spending an hour at Walgreens! I'd have left, but was on my way to work, so I decided to get some crackers, Gatorade and soup to take back to her. Again I was disappointed to only find generic brand crackers and other snacks, but at least they had Campbell's chicken noodle soup and Gatorade! The customer service is good, I just wish the pharmacy would give you a head's up or offer another time-saving solution. Maybe next time? read more

Lots of great stuff in the cosmetics arena! Truly amazing to find a whole full aisle full of lipsticks, mascaras, nail polishes and so on. Totally awesome and a great prices. In my area you don't find Walgreens (CVS is the queen), but I was around Point Loma and looking for something very specific and was recommended to visit this Walgreens. They did not have what I needed, but the experience browsing the clean, spacious aisles and in particular the beauty section totally hooked me up! read more

I have been going to this pharmacy since February of this year. As time goes on, I find them much less efficient. 90 percent of the time when a doctor calls in a prescription, they don't have the drug. I've gone in a few times and they can't find the prescription, resulting in a wait while they dig through the bins. They are short staffed and the waits can be quite long. Just today, I brought my prescription home and they have given me the wrong dosage, so I have to take two which results in me getting a 15-day supply instead of a 30-day supply. I actually get anxiety going down there now because I know something will get messed up or I'll have a long wait. read more

If you were so backed up it's crazy how you were sitting there not doing anything. When I first started transferring my prescriptions from another Walgreens - which I loved - it was an absolute nightmare. I read the reviews but decided to find out for myself. This is my story. After 2-1/2 weeks of trying to get an on-going prescription filled, & having run out, they weren't able to get their act together and fill it, despite my dr's office sending over auths. One pharmacist, a floater (I want to say his name is Tony but I'm not sure) even kept telling me it wasn't a prescription I've ever gotten filled with Walgreens even tho I had been for several years, every single month! He was incredibly rude, telling me "Be quiet!" when I was trying to explain it's in their system, I had already checked with the pharmacist at my prior Walgreens. I was floored, what the heck?! I calmly but firmly stated to him that I was not speaking to him in any rude way whatsoever and I did not appreciate him speaking to me in that way. He " apologized" but his verbiage and attitude remained the same. AND It still didn't get filled; I was on the verge of pulling my hair out at the ridiculousness of having to work for 2-3 wks to get my prescription filled, even tho my dr's office kept sending the auth, even having called to give verbal auth. Apparently someone (s) weren't recording those conversations. Even tho this is close to my home I had enough and decided to try a different location. I had one last prescription to pick up and the pharmacist there saw how distraught I had become over going through this 3-4 times each week to get it filled and made it her mission to track down the problem. After a lengthy conversation with my dr's office yet again to straighten out the problem (grateful for the patience of my dr's office, they too had become frustrated) it was finally approved...and filled. Since then it has been smooth sailing and I am hoping it remains that way. There are some really nice people back there who work hard, and I have not once had any problems getting through on the phone. I will say this, if I ever see Pharmacist Tony back there I will turn around and leave. And if ever he became a regular there I would without a doubt go to a different location; no one deserves to have to put up with his arrogant way of speaking to customers, and without us he wouldn't have a job. So thanks to all the non-Tony's there who do a good job & try to help. I hope this makes sense, it's late & I'm sleep deprived! read more

This by far is the worst pharmacy in the Wallgreens chain of stores. They're disrespectful and hippa laws don't exist at the Midway Wallgreens. They talk loud enough for everyone in line to hear your private business. The new pharmacist, Ryan,talks over you and won't listen to what you have to say. I've been going to this location for 8 years and on Vivians watch this kind of rudeness never happened. This Ryan person even said to me have your Doctor write another script and take it somewhere else. This was after Wallgreens messed with my script. The IT department blocked my account and the pharmacist didn't know what to do about. I had to call there corporate office for the pharmacist to work on it. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION. He wasn't going to do anything until I call corporate. Corporate called that location and he was forced to do his job. How lazy can they be. It's a shame that the customer has to do their job. The drive thru for the pharmacy closes at 5pm. There was a line with 2 cars ahead of me. At 4:59pm they decide to shut it down and turn everyone away and have them Come inside. I go inside to get my son's prescription and it's not ready yet so I'm asked to wait. I say okay even though I don't want to and I literally watch the pharmacist bagging prescriptions in the back bag my son's medicine and set it on the counter and leave it there for an extra 10 minutes. I go back in line and ask if my prescription is ready and they grab it. Then they're shocked when I confront them on why they set it there and made me wait. Their excuse was that they're "understaffed and stressed" as the manager Brenda stated when I complained to her. The pharmacist continued to give me attitude and throw my change on the counter. I will not be returning because I will fight her on sight next time. Do NOT mess with others medicine. read more

The pharmacy is sometimes "hit or miss" on customer service, but it is increasingly HORRIBLE customer service. Today, a pharmacy tech talked over me on the phone, therefore had no idea why I called, then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the pharmacist and he hung up on me a second time. When I finally got the pharmacist on the phone, she seemed uninterested in the behavior of the pharmacy tech. In past issues, both the pharmacist and store manager had no interest in the HORRIBLE customer service in the pharmacy. You would think after years of being a loyal customer, they wouldn't treat you that way. Go somewhere else. read more

I have truly loved this pharmacy for 15 years. It's been my best pharmacy experience of any chain (and of any Walgreens) here or throughout the country. I've been floored by how helpful, knowledgeable and kind they've been. I'm so sorry (and surprised!) a few reviewers reported some pretty unhappy experiences. Just sharing that my experience has been fantastic!! And they always give me very helpful advice about any RX or OTC medicine I've asked about. They seem to take it seriously, to love their job and to care about their customers. read more
