While the cashier, Julie, was preparing to box the chicken, I asked if there were any side dishes available. She told me there were not. After hearing that, my children said they would rather get chicken somewhere else because they wanted a meal that included sides. I politely told Julie that it was okay and that I no longer wanted the chicken. Instead of responding professionally, she immediately gave me an attitude and said, "Well, he already paid for it." I explained again that we had changed our minds because my children wanted sides with their meal. She then offered fries, but by that point we had already decided to go elsewhere. What happened next was completely unnecessary. Julie grabbed the bag she was going to use for the chicken and threw it onto the floor in an obvious display of frustration. I was shocked by how unprofessional and disrespectful her behavior was. At no point was I rude, argumentative, or demanding. I simply changed my mind before receiving the food. Working with the public can be challenging, but customers should not be treated with hostility for making a simple decision. Julie's attitude, facial expressions, and behavior made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It seemed as though she took the situation personally and chose to respond with rudeness rather than basic customer service. We spent a significant amount of money in the store that day, yet left feeling disrespected. Management may want to address how customers are treated, because no one should have to deal with that kind of behavior over a simple question and a canceled food order.
