I only came here because we were walking back to our hotel from our fancy dinner. I came here for water and they had it. We got something else. We were greeted warmly upon entry and I did feel comfortable browsing. I asked about the water and the man behind the counter gave me good directions to find it. The pricing on it was pretty good. They have plenty of wine here, and if in the mood and the area, I could see myself picking up a bottle. The boxed goods were quite pricey to me - crackers and such. As for ambiance, this place was quite cramped. I think that I say I felt comfortable because sometimes there's a level of uncleanliness that comes with cramped spaces. But this place seemed cleaner to me, so I had an elevated level of comfort. I doubt that I'll be walking by, but I have to say, with their later hours, if I need a gallon of water or some wine, I may make the trek up to them because they had the basics at some decent prices. read more

I bought 1/2 gallon of 2% milk for $5.99 on 1/13/2025. After opening it this morning (1/14/2025), I discovered it was sour even though the best sell by date was 1/27/25. Upon returning to the store, the owner said, 'NO REFUND" even though it was HIS fault the milk was sour. I used the last of my EBT food stamps to purchase that milk. I walked to the store with the aid of my walker. I am a 73-year-old disabled widow who lives on my Social Security retirement and a whopping $23 in EBT food stamps a month. I won't be able to buy any more milk or food until 1/31/25. This store is a rip off. The poor clerk there was freezing because although the weather is wickedly cold, they had no heat inside. Seems as cold as it was, the milk should have still been fresh, but when lumps pour out when you pour it into your cereal & your nose tells you it's sour, it's sour. I have to wonder about any other fresh or frozen food they carry if they can't even keep milk fresh. read more

Only grocery store that was open late when we came (11pm). There were a lot of people trying to buy last minutes items. They have a variety of items. It's a mix between a liquor store and a small grocery store. The wine selection for a small place was pretty good. Same goes for the beers and non alcoholic liquids. They don't have the gallon waters though but liter waters they have. There's also a sandwich shop, not sure what time they open but it was close when we came later in the night. This was an issue for me because I took public transportation in a city that I was not familiar to visit their "deli". Do not shop here, scammed my debit card for $3154.74. I contacted my bank to file a fraud claim and then 2as able to determine that the fraudulent charge was this business based on the charge before and after visiting this store and the fact I bought 1 gallon of water which should have been $4.60. No charge for this amount was on my bank statement. I called pike grocery and the person on the phone denied any involvement and then told me to wait a minimum while he checked on something. He set the phone down and after 3 minutes hung up on me. I tried calling back several times and got no answer. When calling from a friend's phone from a different area code he answered, but once I told him who I was an brought up the suspicious charge he again hung up and will not answer from that number now. If this is not evidence of someone with something to hide, I don't know what is. Do not shop here the credit debit machine has a skimmer on it and these guys will rip you off. If I would have caught the charge before leaving the airport I would have gone down there in person and confronted the coward face to face. read more

I wouldn't say this store was bad or good. It was alright. There's a lot of options for a very small place. There is a lot of random snacks and items packed into a very small store. They have a good size beer and wine selection for how small it is. They are a bit pricey. The normal price for a beatbox drink I usually come across is 4$ and here it was 7.99$. It's to be expected since it's a small store in the convention area in downtown Seattle. I think you're mostly paying for convenience if you're staying at one of the hotels nearby like the Hyatt regency. It's a very short walk from that hotel and from the Seattle convention summit. Inconsistent pricing of products related to local tax ordinances, depends who is cashier as to how much the same item cost. Only grocer in area that places corresponding taxes on items as well. Have had issues with surprises in the taxes as well, told one price, hand over cash, they charge me a higher price. QFC is further away but at least there the pricing is up front and honest and consistent (not to mention a hell of a lot cheaper per item). read more

Love this place. It's my neighborhood Mom 'n Pop. They carry an assortment of chips, cereal, healthy foods, cheese, deli meat, and basic necessary goods. Honestly, it's remarkable how much they can fit into this one small space. It's owned by a lovely Korean couple. The woman, Jane, is a sweetheart. She always cheerfully takes your order and treats you with kindness. Her husband, Mike, is a bit more reserved and stoic, but he opens up more as you visit more. Anyways, the sandwiches are usually made by Jane, and they are delicious and filling. You place an order and in about 10 min or less, it's ready to go. I got the Seattle Slew sandwich today, and it was legit so yummy and huge. It's got ham, salami, mortadella, provolone, pepperoncini, red onion, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and mayo. If you're feeling hungry, any one of their sandwiches will fill you up for hours. Usually half of one is enough for me though. As for the people who've said negative things about their customer service, they clearly have an overinflated "the customer is always right" mentality. I've been going here for the past year, and I've received nothing but good service. I think that some customers unrealistically expect service people to kiss their asses, rather than simply render a service. Reservedness and stoicism is not a marker of bad service... Awesome little grocery near the Convention Center. I was staying at a hotel nearby and popped in here and it had more than I could have ever imagined! I'm so happy that Pike Grocery is open!!!! (It's not called Pike Place Grocery, dunno who came up with that when they listed this business.) Comfortably nested on the border between Capitol Hill and downtown, I'm in the midst of everything and yet have had slim pickin's as far as grocery stores near my place (QFC is "near" if you're not drunk/exhausted/lazy, and Clay's is a poor excuse for a grocery). So, I was super excited when this place started being built, because I'd finally be able to make quick club soda/wine/ketchup runs. Little did I know, you can get all that and a bag of chips! So to speak. This ain't your grandma's convenience store - they have: - Boarshead deli meat (yessss.... Blazin' Buffalo Chicken and Black Forest Ham!) - Odwalla - organic milk!! When I came into pike grocery I entered a very cramped grocery style convenience store which based on how cramped it was was not extremely welcoming (but they can't really help that) I was at a conference and we were looking for a quick place to eat. The sandwiches were decent. I really like the one with Cajun turkey. My partner got the one with buffalo chicken which was underwhelming flavor wise. My other complaint was that the tomatoes were extremely wet and runny. If I end up going back again i would get the Cajun turkey sandwich (without tomato) read more

I went to this new business on the corner of Pike and Boren on 30 March 2013, and they wanted to charge 50 cents to use my debit card for anything under $10. Best bodega in the neighborhood! This place has been a common place I frequent for the past year and a half and I'll tell you why: convenient, great customer service, a wide selection of anything you might need, and dog friendly. Not just dog friendly, dog excited! My pup has always received a healthy treat, and I've witnessed many others treated in the same fashion. The beer and wine selection is on point and priced reasonably. That late night hummus craving? Maybe a sandwich? They got you! As far as convenient goes, my home is a half block away from another place that I don't care to give business to because myself and many of my clients have been been treated poorly (yelled at for buying a single item with a $20). Bottom line, this is a business you want to support and if Greg is your cashier you're going to get a great smile and a person who goes above and beyond! Having been spoiled by fine food, wine, and artisan beers, I find myself difficult to please, especially when trying new venues. In moving to Seattle, I noticed that there was a corner store being renovated right down the hill from where I lived, to be called the "Pike Grocery." Another convenience store with overpriced generic staples, I figured. Since it has opened, I have been a customer almost every single day, and my experience never ceases to amaze me. I'll be honest, what first seduced me into their doors was the outlandishly enormous beer selection, with specialties, imports, and craft brews being their, well, specialty. Each day I went in, I discovered something new; not only in their selection, but also in what services they offer. A deli. A produce section. Fresh cold-cuts. Imported quality and regional wines at affordable prices. Coffees (they even carry LavAzza!), teas, pasta, cereal... Now here's where things get even better. They offer fresh-brewed coffee from local roasters, and wow, does it make a difference. Every cup is bursting with full aromas and flavors that will convert even the most prudish of the lot into caffeine addicts. The owner is also an artist when it comes to any espresso-based drink, adding flare and decor to any cappuccino and balancing just the right amount of bitterness into his espresso shots. And then come the sandwiches. When I eat out for sandwiches, I generally find only one thing I'll like on the menu and then go back solely for that one item. The Pike Grocery's menu is very broad, which is impressive for such a local small operation that seems to be more of a grocery store. All ingredients are fresh, and the cuts are sliced right in front of you (they use Boar's Head, by the way!). Every sandwich is to die for, and so far each one I've had is my favorite. This is saying a lot, as I said in the beginning, I am a very picky eater...but the flavor, the quality, and the sustenance of each sandwich is worth every penny and leaves me wanting more, despite a full stomach. If you haven't discovered Pike Grocery yet, you're truly missing out on a new gem in local-owned business. The owner and all of the staff are very friendly, welcoming, and all around wonderful people, and the quality of everything in the store is impeccable, as well as clean. I'm halfway thru a stay at the Homewood Suites for four months. What a welcome relief this Market is! Clay's market is the only other option close to the hotel and after my last experience there (read Yelp review!) I boycotted it. And Pikes Place Grocery just has so much very nicely packed in a small space. They even have a breakfast sandwich from their deli counter! Not to mention a lot of other great sandwich choices. I have lived a block away from this location for 10 years and have been dreaming of a grocery store on the site. Finally, the dream has come true! This is a wonderful market. Small, but complete. You can find virtually everything you need, from wine and beer to good quality frozen foods, Boars Head cold cuts to buy by the pound or have made into one of their delicious sandwich choices, detergent, produce, bagels, espresso drinks, etc. The staff is friendly. The store is clean. It is in no way what we city dwellers have had to put up with in the way of markets. I truly hope the neighborhood discovers it.
