This Walgreens is conveniently located in a shopping center off Ygnacio Valley Road. My family and I were going to stop by the Bagel shop next door, but I had to pick up a few things at the Walgreens first. The parking in the shopping center can be a little bit crazy, so that's the one downside. This location is extremely clean, organized, and the people there were helpful and nice. I was rang up by Ajel, and she was very courteous, and when my coupon printed out with very little ink (you could barely read it), she took the time to write the information on it for me, and wrote her name down to make sure that whoever is working when I try to use it will honor it. I hope it works! If they don't honor it, I might need to update my rating, but for now, I was happy with the experience! read more

The new Pharmacy Manager Yuni is very rude and uncooperative. She is abrupt, short and sassy. The other staff - Brad, Maryam, Amaka and other pharmacists are exceptionally good. I would give 5 stars - but because of the Supervisor - get one star. Hope Management takes notice and puts Brad back in charge. read more

Pharmacy: The whole lunch sign for lunch seems strange. I've never seen a pharmacy post a hand written sign multiple times stating they are closed for lunch. Usually lunch hours are posted in a professional fashion and no one is caught off guard. The sitting area is really nice. I wonder if this makes up for the sudden posting of lunch hours. Christmas items are not 50% the day after Christmas. Not a big issue, but a bit strange as most stares operate that way. Not all Walgreens price their items the same. Walgreens at the Encina Grande shopping plaza in Walnut Creek has undergone a major overhaul. They have a brand new space built just for them that is much larger, modern and well laid out that opened last fall. While this plaza undergoes some major renovations, Walgreens is open and actually fills a great niche for basic sundries now that the Safeway is demolished. The new space has wider aisles, cleaner displays and more inventory than the last location and I enjoy browsing their beauty section that includes big name brand and organic lines. The staff was friendly and asked if they could help when I was walking around. Check out was courteous and fast. I can't speak for the pharmacy itself, but the store is a major improvement. I am excited to see all the other upgrades coming to Encina Grande as well! read more

I had a covid test appointment this morning, and when I pulled up to the driver-thru, it was closed due to "computer being down." There was a note for covid tests to ring the bell, which I did multiple times. I waited over 10 minutes, and no one came. Now I had to come home and make a test appointment somewhere else this afternoon. What waste of time. If a store refuses to honor appointments, why allow that store to accept appointments? If they truly had computer issues that affected covid testing, they could have at least come to window to let me know and reschedule me for later or at another location. read more

I came to redeem clipper card.. they don't know what they are doing at all. I spent an hour here. Eventually they couldn't loaded onto my existing card and said its my fault that I should have known there is a max on how much the clipper card can contain. I said I asked up front and even told you guys there might be a max limit. Then they said you can no longer use your four $65 checks ($260) because we already run them throw our machine with stampes so they no longer can be used, they are cancelled !! Manager said to my face in front of the cashier , it is her fault that she didn't know the max limit on the card... I immediately said I told you guys before we started the transaction there is a limit so please let me know if I can do this. I get commuter checking loaded up at other Walgreen locations and never had such a problem! read more

Came in to pick up my prescription around 1pm and when I walked up to the counter 2 ladies were behind the counter and told me they are on lunch.... 1) If only 2 pharmacy employee's are on the clock today shouldn't they stagger lunches to maintain coverage of the counter? 2) If you are already at the counter and not gone for lunch shouldn't you just hand me my meds, should only take you 2 minutes. 3) I have been sitting here with 3 others for over 30 minutes waiting for you to finish your lunch. I decided to come to Yelp to see if anybody else has had any issues with this pharmacy. Apparently, it was not only me. It seems as though this pharmacy has a bad reputation for poor customer service. I just moved to the area, and I was attempting to have my prescriptions transferred over to this pharmacy. Instead of being met with a helpful attitude, I received a very judging tone and rude attitude from the pharmacist over the phone. I attempted to place my refills through the automated phone service as I typically did when I lived in Sacramento. At the end of my order, the automated system instructed me to speak to a representative to confirm some details. I didn't know what this meant, so I went along with the phone call and waiting to speak to a representative. When the pharmacist got on the phone, I let her know why I was on the phone i.e. the automated system transferred me to the pharmacist to "verify details." The pharmacist said, "I don't understand. What do you need verified?" I let her I know I PERSONALLY didn't need anything verified, but I was automatically transferred to her. So I assumed she would know what needed to be done. Anyway, she seemed super irritated and just kept talking to me like I was stupid. She asked me, "If you get your meds in Sacramento usually, WHY are you calling here?" Ummm... I moved. Is that okay? Sheesh. She then asked what meds I needed refilled and I told her the two, one being METHADONE. Mind you, I am a recovering cancer patient who also had a bone marrow transplant, and as many cancer patients know, methadone is a main pain medication that's given to us beginning when we are in the hospital. The pharmacist gave me the most judgmental and condescending tone by saying, "METHADONE!? You mean, methadone like the pain medication?" Like she was appalled I was asking for this medication. It was embarrassing! I confirmed that I indeed need the methadone. She went on to rudely (and very dramatically) tell me that they couldn't transfer this medication. She kept reiterating this until I finally said, "I understand that, that's why I'm asking you what I need to do to get the process started on getting this medication." She explained I needed to have the doc send it (again sounding very irritated). I was calm and nice through the whole thing and at the end I just said, "Okay, that's all I needed to know. Thank you," and I was met with a an aggressive, "BYE." And a hang-up. So, I don't know if it was just this woman or if everyone here is just rude as heck but that was terrible. Unfortunately, this is the closest Walgreens to my new home but I might have to go out of my way just to get a little respect because I'm not going to deal with that unnecessary attitude every time I need to get some medications. Walgreens, this happened on 02/15/20 and my phone call was at 2:45pm. Not sure what the pharmacists name was as she never gave her name, so maybe you can figure out who needs an attitude adjustment. read more

This Walgreens should be great, but is let down by its inefficient and lackluster service. It's a nice building, clean and spacious, with good layout, and in a great location. But you will have plenty of time to enjoy the space as you search for staff or wait endlessly for your prescription to be filled. It's not that the staff are unfriendly, they always seem nice enough, it's that the store seems to lack the capacity to carry out some of their basic functions. For example, they have been unable to do clipper cards for at least a couple of months now, which makes me think they don't really want to provide this service. Last time I had a prescription to pick up they said it would be 15 minutes but I waited 45 with my bored and impatient daughter. It seemed like it wasn't a problem with my scrip, just that they were slow with everyone. I wish they would just be honest about the wait times--we would have gone home and come back later. When I told my wife how slow they were, she said that last time she waited almost an hour before giving up. I've been to a lot of tatty, overworked and worn-down Walgreens in bad neighborhoods that do a better job of helping customers. It's a shame such a nice store in an upscale neighborhood can't be bothered to make the effort to provide fast and efficient service. read more

The pharmacy at this location needs an attitude adjustment. I had recently been trying to get my prescription filled for a few days now and when I call the person who answers has an attitude. I have had some friendly people at the counter in the past, where did they go? Also, the cashiers at the front of the store are also less then helpful. It was always bearable, but today when my sick husband arrived at 1:29p to pick up his prescription, the pharmacy tech Selena (or at least that's what we think her name is because she had her name tag inside out so you couldn't see it) started closing the door as soon as she saw him walking up to the counter. He asked if he could just pick up his prescription since the sign for lunch said 1:30p and it was still 1:29p and she said no. I'm sure your lunch is more important. This Walgreens is alright. I sometimes come in here and grab some stuff before I go to work.... If I really have to. The employees/cashiers here seen very aloof and seem like they're on a different planet of sorts. Some of these people seem like they are new, but some aren't. I'm a cashier myself and know the ropes of checking people out- so when I see employees just meandering the front of the store while there's a whole line of people waiting to check out, I begin to question if this Walgreens really cares about genuine customer service. UPDATE: I'm dropping this place to 1 star. I have given you guys a bunch of chances, bc I work near here and sometimes I still have to swing by here en route. Maybe it's because I've been a cashier myself, but the long line with 1 cashier with other employees seem to be mingling about is ridiculous. Everyone except for one cashier (younger girl in high school- I forget her name... But she is very sweet, and I love talking to her!) doesn't really seem... Just went to the store to pick up a delivery that I ordered on line. The lady (older midwestern look) didn't understand so she developed an attitude, gave me a mean glare and called the manager. I got something else from the store and she rang me up, again rude. I said thank you and have a nice day. She gave me a mean glare, again, and couldn't respond or thank me for being a customer. My career is focused on teaching/giving positive energy and sharing love. She had terrible energy about her and will continue to push customers away. I promise to not be back. Very sad. read more

WORST PLACE TO PRINT LARGE POSTERS, PICTURES, SIGNS, POSTER BOARDS, ETC. Wow. I don't even know where to begin. They messed up our wedding signs (three 24x36" sings and one 20x30 poster board sign) THREE TIMES. Yup, three times a charm; so, I had to try another Walgreens photo location (Concord - they're the BEST at photo anything!). I had got refunded three times, wasted three hours of my life repeatedly inputting orders, picking up signs, returning signs (due to marks, fingerprints, RIPS, a huge freaking bent mark right down the middle of the poster, and no included easel for my poster boards). They didn't know where everything was located so I located my own stuff behind the counter and had to show the manager where to find and look for the poster easels, which they didn't carry so they're basically ripping off their poster board-buying customers. Ugh! I'm really annoyed and will never ever order anything photo-related here ever again. Additionally, the employees all seem new or in training so they don't know anything and work extremely slowly...just like DMV sloths in the movie "Zootopia." Nope nope nope! read more

Worst experience ever! Don't bring your child here for vaccinations! It's my first time to hear my child complaining that Asian lady who gave the vaccine pinched hard my daughter's arm! My 9 yrs old child said, she was pinched hard. Do you really need to pinch a child muscle hard to give a vaccine? That's battery! Something wrong with this pharmacist! It's a wonder that this pharmacy even gets a star and a 1/2! I have a prescription that I need for pain due to a foot surgery I recently had. My prescription is ready to pick up and the damn pharmacy is temporarily closed. I've called two other walgreens pharmacies and they cannot transfer my prescription to another pharmacy.... so now I'm forced to sit here and suffer with foot pain for the next 2 days.... AND IT'S A HOLIDAY WEEKEND SO THEY ARE GOING TO BE CLOSED MONDAY according to the cashier at the store where my medication is at! All because Walgreens can NOT get their act together and has to shut this pharmacy down intermittently! Actually, I have no complaints about this specific retail store. All I want when utilizing a retail outlet is to find what I want, and get checked thru with a fair price, by courteous people. That is the case. My complaint is that I switched my prescriptions to Walgreens from CVS, only to find a formulary that must be drug company specific. They don't support what should be mainstream, and only do well with a few niche items. It seems as if the objective is to extract the maximum $ from customers. I have been dealing with the nightmare of their suggested substitutions vs what is prescribed, and the wild swings in drug costs. As I get more into having to have prescriptions, I am believing I will become an activist to better educate folks about how the pirates operate...This will be a one year problem here as I switch to another drug plan asap, when possible. read more

This is for the pharmacy. They are atrocious. On multiple occasions they've lost my rx slip I dropped off. Resulting in me having to go back to the doctor and get a new script written. On one occasion they were adamant I never dropped it off, only to find it two days later. Drive through? Good luck. Minimum 15 minute wait if you're the first one there. read more

We are totally disgusted with Walgreens, we have been to Walgreen twice to get flu shots, the first time we waited in a long line at the pharmacy and when we got to the counter they informed us that they were going to lunch in ten minutes and therefore could not give the shots. So then this morning we went in at 9:45 am and again waited about 20 minutes to be told that they couldn't give the shots because there were only 2 employees in the pharmacy so come back after 1pm but that is when they go to lunch. I was not happy and said they should post the very limited times when they will give flu shots so at least their customers didn't have to wait to be told to come back later, the pharmacist then got lippy with me at this point I can only say Walgreens sucks, they have no customer service, they should advertise that they give flu shots sometime when they feel like it! read more

I have been going here for 25 years (before the new store was built). I am so fed up with the horrible customer service. I sit on hold for 15 minutes the pharmacist picks up and puts me back on hold 5 times, the fifth time she hangs up on me! All I wanted to know is when I could pick up my medication. I call back in and wait another 8 minutes, hold again twice more and finally she answers! The only decent pharmacist is Brad. Otherwise don't bother talking to them. The others are rude and insulting. They don't even say thank you after you have been on hold for almost 30 minutes at 8:00 pm!!! Horrible service. In the short amount of time I spent in this Walgreens, I noticed a few things. The floors were spotless. Not a single product, stain or piece of trash littered the floors. There is usually something on the floors of any store you go to, so it was a nice surprise to see they keep this location so clean. The staff was amazing. From the cashier at the front, politely redirecting people to the cosmetics counter because the line was getting long. To the cosmetics woman who with every customer, had a smile on her face and a very pleasant tone in her voice that makes you feel important. I ran into a few employees in the aisles, one of which was a manager and all of them asked if I needed help. Customer service is top notch. The last thing I noticed is that the shelves were stocked and pulled forward making the shelves look great. Even if every shelf wasn't stocked to capacity, you wouldn't notice. I found everything I was looking for and left the store with no problem and in no time. The Walgreens may seem hidden, like everything else in this plaza, but it's one of the better ones around. read more

On 4/18/23 around 9pm my friend and I were aggressively racially profiled in this store. After being in the store for about 5 minutes a man (I'm assuming the manager) came up to us and accused us of stealing and very rudely demanded we leave. When pressed about what in the world he was talking about he gestured to my friend who is Black and claimed he'd seen her come in with a group of others that steal from them often. We put our things down and walked to the front to leave because we didn't want to deal with their hostility but before we did I asked the cashier and manager if they were serious about this because my friend and I were enraged. The cashier said she hadn't seen my friend's face only her hair (which is in a protective hairstyle) and thought she was the alleged thief just based on that BUT on a second glance my friend was "much less dark" than the woman she was thinking of. The manager then said "Hey, we're not in the wrong here." which I found quite funny. When asked for his name he refused to give it because he didn't want us to write a bad review. Well maybe next time don't be racist and then you can avoid terrible reviews all together. I hope you both get fired. read more

My husband and I stopped in Walgreens last weekend to pick up some Sudafed PE for cold/congestion. The Walgreens brand was on sale so we took this box up to the register. The sale price was only applied if you buy two boxes, so we ran box to grab a second box and then checked out. The store had pumpkins out front (it's one week until Halloween!) and lots of decorations inside, including a pretty neat scary spider. A cashier helped us quickly once we were ready to check out and there was no wait in line. read more

I ordered a 16x20 poster print aaah the confirmation said it would be done at 4:00pm. Showed up at 4:15, and asked the cashier about it. Without even checking, the cashier said it wasn't ready because there's a lot of customers. She didn't even know my name or my order or when I ordered. So I allowed the line to run out and then asked the cashier to check again. She finally checked and said they ran out of paper and said she'd transfer the order to another store. 10 minutes waiting for her to transfer the order and tell me what store to pick it up from. She really walked away without saying anything to me about whether or not it's been transferred and where. You're better off printing literally anywhere else. Update: I waited 20 minutes before asking another cashier, who asked the manager. Turns out they can't transfer orders so the first cashier completely cancelled my ordder, didn't even tell me, so I wasted my time. read more

This review is written in regard to the pharmacy- Inefficient and slow staff makes this store a terrible choice. I keep hoping it will change because the location is great, but I won't be back due to the lack of customer service. They probably need more help - but they need staff who follow through, are capable and have a mission to serve their customers. To be totally fair, one person in the pharmacy works hard but she is overwhelmed by the demands on her and waiting for other staff to follow through.
