Absolutely Inexcusable Treatment -- Walgreens Hinsdale (Willowbrook Road) I recently visited this Walgreens to refill a critical eye drop prescription for my advanced eye disease. This isn't a casual medication -- missing doses risks irreversible vision loss. I called ahead at noon, spoke directly with a technician, confirmed they had my drops in stock, and was assured one would be held for me. I confirmed twice. My doctor also called earlier to make sure everything was set. I arrived promptly at 7:15 PM, only to be told they had nothing on hand. I patiently explained that I had spoken to someone earlier, gave my name (Lee Robinson), and asked them to check. For 30 minutes, I waited while they attempted to reach the technician I had spoken with. Understandably, mistakes happen -- but what unfolded next was unacceptable. For the next 45 minutes, I begged for help identifying any nearby location that could fill my prescription tonight. Instead of providing clear answers, the staff simply rattled off Walgreens locations without providing addresses or verifying inventory. When I asked which stores were open late, they vaguely pointed me to a few -- but again, no real help, just dismissive answers as if I was interrupting their evening. At no point did anyone -- especially the head pharmacist, Tanya -- show even basic empathy or urgency. I wasn't treated like a patient, or even a human being. I was treated like an inconvenience. Tanya repeatedly ignored my questions, avoided eye contact, and carried on with other refills while I stood there desperately trying to ensure I wouldn't miss my medication. Walgreens -- you are in healthcare. People don't come to you for fun. We come because our health depends on you doing your job. I didn't choose to have a disease that steals my sight. I didn't choose to rely on these drops to stay alive, functional, and able to see my kids grow up. But your staff made it abundantly clear that my situation wasn't important enough to warrant even minimal effort. The complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic human decency displayed here was disgusting. Walgreens, you should be ashamed. I will never return to this location. read more

I couldn't find any manager so I told my wife we were not buying anythin. Walked out and checked to see who was in charge and I didn't see a store Manager name. The 1.5 Star review at this store absolutely checks out. Danielle (store manager) is rude and the exact opposite of customer service. My mom is in town and left her cane on the plane. We went to this Walgreens to get my mom a cane to use while she is in town and on her travels home. We selected a cane and walked to the register. The cane was not marked with a price tag. Danielle told us she could not sell the cane. We opened the Walgreens app and showed her the exact cane we were trying to purchase. The app allowed us to add to card for same day pick up. I asked Danielle if we purchase on the app can we take the cane. She said "yes, but you'll have to wait 30 minutes for us to receive the order." I arrived at 12:59 to purchase Claritin D - one of the male pharmacists walked up to the register to help me but a female pharmacist looked at him and said "They got here too late" (without looking at me) - I said I just need Claritin D. I think the guy felt bad. Really not a good look and it would have been faster to just ring it up.... They all walked past me a few minutes later for their meal break. I get it they can't serve a whole line of people in a minute but it was just me and there were 2 other transactions ongoing at other pharmacy registers, the guy could have rung me up by the time the others were finished. The cashiers at this location are really incompetent. They need a basic math course as a requirement. I've been to this location 2 days in a row and the first time, the guy refused me giving him exact change. My total was $8.23 and I gave him $10.23, nope can't accept that, only the $10. Ok fine!!!! Next day, go in for an item and total is $5.40. I gave the lady a $10. She enters it as 10 cents. Then puts in 9.60 and just bold face shorts me 30 cents. I don't care about the 30 cents, it's the point of how can you be this careless about doing your job ? Either that or she's ripping off Walgreens. See $15/hr really attracts the brightest people!!! Went to this Walgreens to get Tylenol which is locked up. I didn't know there was a call button as it was covered by a sale sign. I asked in the pharmacy if they could call someone and she did even though I got the impression I was bothering her. I went to the isle and waited, and waited. Then I saw the call button and pushed it. An announcement said customer need assistance in the isle I was in. The announcement repeated itself 3 more times every few minutes. The 4th time it was a different announcement like it was saying hey we told you three times. After 5+ minutes I gave up and left. I agree with other reviews that the people are friendly here if you can find them. As other reviewers have stated garbage everywhere outside and the can is usually overflowing. There were only 2 other people that received vaccines during the entire 45 minutes that I waited. Wow! I am blown away by all the bad reviews on here as this is the Walgreens I go out of my way to go to as I find the employees to be the most friendly and helpful. On a recent visit- the store manager asked me several times if I had found everything I was looking for and when I told him what I was looking for specifically, he actually escorted me to the aisle to find the item. I think that is pretty good customer service. It's busy and some days you may have to wait in a line ( especially at the pharmacy) but they usually open another register to move the people through. I go to many Walgreens and usually don't review them, but the customer service I got at this location was worth writing about. read more

The pharmacy in Walgreens in Willowbrook was very accomodating and efficient last time I was there so no problem there. During the week, the cashiers are usually nice but I went to return some hair color that I had just purchased over the weekend (Sat 5:30) The female (maybe)16 yr old snot treated me like a thief. She opened the package of hair color and saw that the developer was 1/2 way full... she held it up to the light and scowled at me.....she thought it was used. Duh!! If she and the "beauty tech" (also high school age )knew anything about hair coloring they would know that it is only 1/2 way full because the color needs to be added to it. I've been going to this Walgreens for 15 yrs about every other day because I live less than a mile away and have returned only a couple of things in that time and decided to steal that developer. Ooooohhh, yah right . Call the cops and have me handcuffed. Stick with the experienced help Walgreens!...They should know that the customer always comes first!...especially for hair color at 14.99. Even with that, I was buying another package which didn't make a difference at all. The snot just wanted to "catch" this evil 65 yr old doing a dirty deed. Yet another disappointment, there were staff there but not sure what they were doing in the back room. 6 people waiting and only 1 cashier. As soon as the manager paged them, they started clawing back to the cashier stations. One old lady (cashier) spent 5-10 minutes talking to the customer. Yes I understood you need to know your customers. Take them out to coffee instead of hogging the line. Most people really do not want to work there. The pharmacist claimed that I was lying to him even though he could see all of my records and last refills. Store and employees in the store are great. The pharmacy however is another story. The pharmacy manager seems really nice and really helpful so I can't figure out what the issue is here. I don't know if they are understaffed or what. But there seems to be a huge gap between their corporate "app" and what is actually going on in the local pharmacy. The app will notify me that prescriptions are ready to pick-up, then when I go there either they aren't ready, or if one of several I am picking up isn't ready, which then requires multiple trips to get sorted out. It also seems like I am not the only customer with this problem. The last time I went there the guy in the drive-up lane next to me was shouting at the pharmacist for them to "get their act together." I've currently been waiting two weeks to get a prescription problem with them sorted out and it's been VERY frustrating. Problem has been on their end, despite blaming doctor's office. This store is grossly understaffed. Has been for years, however more recently it's even more so. The pharmacists & clerks all appear to be working as fast as they possibly can, but without much help. The outside drive up window was not working. After calling in a prescription 4 days ago, I was told yesterday that it was not ready "come back in a while". Came back this morning. Same story"come back in a few minutes". Returned this evening & waited behind 8 others for 15 minutes to be told it was not yet ready. The clerk went back & filled it, then waited for the sole pharmacist to finish it off. Everyone working hard, just not enough staff to get the job done. Looks like Walgreens is in a free fall & their reaction is to gut their staffing. Beginning of the end. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere. Too bad. Used to be a great company. Please read this....Basically a story of big business taking your money and not providing you a friendly or respectful service. Awful customer service. I am a smoker. I am aware that many people are against smoking. I am very mindful of non-smokers and do not smoke in public. That being said. Here is my experience with my local Walgreens. I am 32 years old. I know just about every sales associate at this store. I get carded for cigarettes every time I purchase them. I asked them a couple times please stop carding me. I am clearly over 18. There response, "it is illegal not to card anyone who looks under 40." However being that I am the legal age to smoke and frequent this store. I really doubt any police officer would ding Walgreens for selling smokes to a 32 year old women they did not card. I told this to the manager that apologized to me and gave me the canned standard I read this off the policy manual statement, " I apologize for your inconvenience." I told her I am no longer shopping in your store and pulling my Rx. She said fine as she continued checking out the next customer. She didn't even have the decency to look me in the eye. The point is this. Walgreens is a huge money making monster. What do they care if they lose a customer? They do not need my business. It wont hurt them at all. I spent a ton of money there monthly between smokes and Rx. Yes...I know what you are thinking you have health problems because of smoking. My health problem is not smoking related. I work hard for my money and this company will not get it any longer. Until they learn good customer service. Sadly there has been many other disappointing transactions between myself and this Walgreens. My son has his wisdom teeth out and we had to fill a prescription for pain meds. Came here as it was on the way home and we were in a hurry. The tech took the script and said it would be 20 mins but after waiting over an hour we finally complained and he said he'd get to it as soon as possible. As we were waiting, there were others trying to get their prescriptions filled but once again, there was a bunch of unhappy customers. This place just doesn't seem to get any better. read more

Attention physicans, dentists, prescribers: I recently sent a patient to this walgreens to fill a prescription for a popular sleeping pill. The prescription had all the required physician identifiers-npi, license number, dea, etc. The pharmacy manager jen or jan something (refused to give her last name) interrogated the patient, insisted the prescription was fraudulent, called my hospital, called my cell phone, insulted me, my patient, and defaced the prescription making it unusable. When i called her back she started yelling about the validity of the prescription, the patient being in the wrong neighborhood, all kinds of red flags that concerned her (it was the standard prescription i have used for years). She essentially chased the patient out the door and implied i was some kind of quack. It was the most unprofessional conduct i have ever seen in 25 years of practice. I rarely write for controls of any kind, and this was really an exception for me. In my opinion, It has become virtually impossible to prescribe controlled substances of any schedule at walgreens without interrogation and push back. Every prescription is suspect, every prescriber a drug dealer, every patient is an addict. If you want to read walgreen's policy, google this article by Bob Segal. "The Walgreens' secret checklist reveals controversial new policy on pain pills." The article reviews walgreens' Good Faith Dispensing Policy. The policy is a 20 point guideline on patient and physician scrutiny. Doctors-If you want to avoid humilation, tell your patients not to go walgreens if you a writing a controlled substance (or anything for that matter). They will be treated like criminals, insulted and made to feel horrible. You will be labeled as a criminal drug dealer. They will probe your prescribing habits, check your personal inspect, call your hospital or employer. And, most importantly , stay away from this walgreens. read more

My review of Walgreens has nothing to do with the poor old lady at the register who is forced to work because interest rates are terrible and the BLS lies about the real inflation rate used to calculate Social Security raises. My dissatisfaction goes a bit higher up the corporate ladder. The entire concept of a Walgreens is a gas station store with gas station prices as an excuse to host a pharmacy. Forget the sorry attempt at getting people to jump through hoops for pennies (Balance Rewards)... It's the pharmacy that is always short-handed and otherwise slow to fill prescriptions... it's like why bother having 31 flavors if you can't get vanilla right. Once I managed to get my call through to an actual human, I get: "we didn't fill your order because of the holiday" Does that excuse actually apply 2 days later?
