It's super retro, I love the interior and there's a lot of outdoor seating as well. They also serve beer here! SUPER COOL AS A DATE SPOT OR A NOVELTY STOP THEY ALSO HAVE A LOCATION IN PARKSLOPE

Called twice, and while the staff answering the phone were certainly polite and respectful, they could only tell me that the order was "in their system and out for delivery". They could not track the driver, who they said was driving "multiple routes" (whatever that means). That makes zero sense. Weather was pleasant. Roads were clear. It was a Sunday evening, not the busiest time of the week for sure. No major sporting events on TV. No excuse. When the food finally arrived (almost 90 minutes late), the burgers were ice cold, and the shakes were drippy soup. I really want to support local business, but it's hard to do that when a very simple delivery order (only $50) is too much for them to handle. And one would think that, at the very least, some sort of refund or gift card would be in order for this inexplicable failure on their part. Nope. Nada. Sorry, but I cannot recommend Harlem Shake. Order from them at your own risk. You would be wise to eat a meal first.

There are a list of free toppings and some toppings cost. The signs are very straightforward. This is not a sit down place. There's a place to stand and eat but that's about it. It would have been more pleasant but there was a person asking for handouts around one of the exits. Not a place to park.. so walk there. Work up your appetite. Yum.

With…read moreno interest in cooking, I remember becoming a semi-regular at the Gray's Papaya located at 6th Ave and 8th St and always ordering the Recession Special: two dogs loaded with onions and a papaya drink. It wasn't the best quality frankfurter, but somehow it worked with my indiscriminate palette. Flash forward a century or so, and this is the only Gray's Papaya left in the city. Since I'm a survivor, I thought it only appropriate to take Jamie to the original flagship location and order what else but the Recession Special. Sure enough, they still offer it for $7.50. It was $1.95 when I was a child, but it's still a good deal consisting of 2 Hot Dogs (Photo 10) and a Medium Papaya Drink (Photo 9). The franks were the same as I recall, nothing special but if you add onions and pay an extra 75 cents for the chili, it just works. The papaya drink is not a fruit juice but a puree mixed with sugar and milk. It actually complements the dog in a guilty pleasure kind of way. There was a line but it moved fast. Plenty of room at the red mini-counter, so I was able to relive my youthful dining dalliance with little effort. Which to be honest is a little more expensive than the average city hotdog but you get to pick some unique toppings like kimchi, cucumber and chipotle mayo. The menu is limited with only two options, chicken or grass fed beef hotdog. I decided to go for the beef hotdog with everything! Bun gets toasted and warm. From a presentation stand point, the hotdogs looked beautifully ensamble. I must say it was one of the most unique hotdogs that I have ever tried, in a good way. Somehow all the toppings paired perfectly together. It was delicious and flavorful. You can definitely taste that is a high quality meat. I truly enjoyed it!

The Upper East Side continues to be full of activity, but there's not really much reason for me to venture into the land of the $65 a pound lobster salad (yes, for real, although I won't name and shame feel free to guess where I'm talking about). Nonetheless, there are occasions where you simply have to be somewhere and then want to grab something delicious. Even better if the place where you do just that still feels like a bit of a secret... So, The Mark hotel has a Jean-Georges restaurant in it, but this review isn't about that place. It's about the little cart that sits on the sidewalk just outside, and it's worth the trip. Yes you have to eat while standing on the sidewalk. I suppose that you could go down the block and find somewhere in Central Park...but you're a real New Yorker and the sidewalk is more than good enough. As well, there is no way that you're going to make it more than steps away before digging in to this snappy, perfectly balanced dog. The man serving is a delight, which I see others have mentioned, and they take cash (or cards / tap inside the restaurant). However the star of the show is the meat stick with the natural casing. You can pick your toppings, but I recommend getting everything - crisp pickle slices, sauerkraut, and kimchi. Yes, kimchi. Who knew that was what a New York dog was missing. Throw on mustard and chipotle mayo and you're good to go. The fact that each was $6 was also a point of discussion. My take is that it is well worth the price, and although I'd have a tough time imagining the scenario that would demand it, in theory you can get a dirty water dog on 5th Ave for about the same price. If you think of it that way, these hot dogs are a bargain. Enjoy!

Don't ask me the difference between these varieties. I can only surmise that each is a different blend of meats, like beef, pork, or chicken. My favorite will always be bratwurst (beef and pork), but I also enjoy their Knackwurst. While the brat has a very breakfast sausage-like texture, the knackwurst is denser and firmer, closer to a traditional American hot dog. You have the choice between a potato or pretzel bun, and it is almost sacrilegious not to choose the latter. You can also add up to three toppings, including onions and relish. While this stand has indoor seating, it's recommended that you sit at their outdoor tables or standing bar on a sunny day out. Granted, Stube is double the price of a typical hot dog stand, but this is clearly more elevated and made with premium ingredients. Stube is a nice place to sling some glizzies, and if you're in the area, give this kiosk a try!

You can order at the front window or inside the shop as they do have counter dining. They serve a variety of wursts on a pretzel, potato, or semmel bun and a selection of fixin's. We got the brat and knackwursts on this visit. The brat was nicely seasoned and fragrant. The knack was closer to your traditional ny hot dog with a snappy bite. This worked well with all the accoutrements (sauerkraut, onions, relish, cabbage slaw, etc. ) They are also connected to Schaller & Weber next door for your german grocery needs.
