Rocking the doggles while Chai gets laser treatments from Dr. Danyel!
    Meax N.

Danyel is the best. When our dog, Chai, was diagnosed with a partial CCL tear our usual vet suggested some anti-inflammatories and rest...surgery if that didn't work. I started doing some research to explore other options and I found Orthopets braces where Danyel is a "partner clinic". THANK GOD we did. From our initial phone conversation we learned so much. We learned that CCL surgery doesn't repair or heal the ligament but they actually break the dog's tibia and reattach it. We learned that Orthopets is the only researched dog brace. She gave us very straightforward expectations, risks, and facts so we could make the best decision. Our pet insurance works with Danyel so we were able to get Chai in a brace and weekly physical therapy with affordable out-of-pocket expenses. After 3 sessions with Danyel (ultrasound machine, laser machine, acupuncture, stretches, and exercises) Chai is already making improvement to the point that there's no inflammation this week and we are optimistic about the months ahead!

The whole staff is kind and knowledgeable. We adopted a dog that had been hit by a car and my primary vet flat out told me she was overwhelmed by his case and the extent of his injuries. Walking Paws didn't hesitate to take him on and they genuinely care about him!

Dr. Brockman and her entire staff are outstanding and go above and beyond to show love and care to my now, senior dog. I wouldn't trust my dog to go anywhere else. I was shocked at some of the negative reviews given here at Yelp. I did notice that many of these negative reviews were written during the Covid pandemic. I believe that just the stress of that alone caused many to be on edge and upset. I really feel it's unfair to personally condemn a person especially if you are comparing them to yourself. You should go here for great care of your beloved fur baby.

We were on time for our cat's first Vet "Well visit" and waited 28 minutes to be seen. The place…read morewas not very clean. Hair of other pets everywhere. No clean towel to put cat on. Floor, carpets, chairs had animal hair all over, even the ceiling and window in our exam room were dirty. "Parasite check" is listed as included in $80 "Well Visit" which I was told prior on the phone. Had to put $50 down on card to "make sure we come to the visit" per staff. Ok. Cat was weighed by staff who kissed our cat, but the scale didn't work. Staff had to get new scale. Vet came in very late, and was more gone than with us. Checked for ear mites with cotton swap and stated cat's ears look fine. We were then charged over $38 extra for the vet looking through a microscope to check for suspected ear mites. That would be - in my understanding - part of the parasite check. Paid $22 for 1 pill of a dewormer that I can get on Chewy for under $6 for 50 pills. Vet couldn't find mites, so why do we experience "crawling" sensation after every direct contact with the cat. No answer, other than Vet claiming we all have cat allergies to this cat only (we were all tested for cat allergies and none of us has it). Dewormer was assured by Vet not to have any side effects, but online research states lots of cats dying or going blind, vomiting, etc. with lots of cats needing to be seen in the ER afterwards. Vet stressed "law" of rabies vaccines required, which is not accurate, and not making sense for an indoor only cat, given the risks of them dying or getting neurological damage and other injuries. Vet made fun of our cat's name and compared it to a public figure prostitute in front of my child. Vet got cat's gender wrong and stated being "confused" when I corrected them. It's on their file correctly! We noticed cat to be cross-eyed, to which the Vet stated not to "insult" the cat. Soon after they saw it as well, but had no idea why, how or whether this might ever resolve. No further info given. The staff was friendly, but seemed unknowledgeable about vaccine laws as well. They changed between "recommended" and "must be done by law". I paid over $140 for a well visit that we were told would be $80, insulted over our cat's name and seeing the Vet (who constantly left) for a total of 5 minutes in a 1.5 hour long time at their office. Vet didn't know dosages or dewormer side effects and staff/Vet were dishonest about possible side effects and what to look out for. I inquired about costs for chipping, and was told to email staff for the costs. So I paid $80 for them weighing my cat, which I could done at home. That was the "Well Visit". The rest was all extra. We are NEVER going back to this office.

The team answered all my questions without making me feel rushed and calmed my nerves the day of the surgery. I have had several concerns post surgery and called so many times to ask even more questions that the staff once again answered and assisted with, with such kindness. Dr. Anderson changed my dogs life by recommending a vet nutritionist without judgment and his life has drastically improved because of her help. I could truly go on and on about this staff and how amazing they are. For every person complaining about new staff or "rude" staff, you tell me that you'd be bright and shiny 24:7 watching sick pets come through. This staff is honest, dedicated and so passionate about the work they do. Thank you SOBO. I am forever grateful to you all!

While we know medicine isn't perfect, the most alarming part of our experience was our interaction with the performing surgeon, Dr. Kay, whose reaction to our bad outcome has been defensiveness, gaslighting, and represents a shocking absence of empathy, compassion, and kindness. We picked him up from his procedure at 3pm and within hours, his scrotal skin was so swollen he was leaking blood from his skin in puddles on our floor. It was so swollen he could no longer sit or lie down (he could not close his legs) and he whined incessantly. He underwent a scrotal ablation and, in the aftermath of watching our dog go through this trauma, Dr. Kay has been insistent that the emergency vet mistreated him, that we were wrong for taking him in for more care, and that his surgical approach has been impeccable without any bad outcomes over a 34 year career (this does not feel statistically possible). There is an accreditation veterinary hospitals can apply for called the American Animal Hospital Association (AHAA) which has rigorous standards for care and certification. We will be seeking out a hospital with this accreditation for all care moving forward and we would urge other folks to do the same when looking for care for their animals.

All went well the day of the procedure but he was recovering very slowly. He didn't eat, hardly drank any water, wasn't pooping and was very restless, in contrast to his normal behaviors. VCA called every day and when he still wasn't progressing the second day post-op they had us come in, on a Friday evening. Dr. Luegers did an awesome job of evaluating the kitty and educating me, encouraging and managing my expectations. All of the staff were also amazing, even though it was Friday evening and I'm sure they'd had a long week; no one made us feel rushed or like they just wanted to go home, although I'm sure they were happy when they could go! The kitty perked up and started eating again after we got home. By the time we went to sleep he was eating, drinking, peeing and pooping. He finally relaxed and curled up purring on my chest, just as he normally does. It's the next day, he's about 93% of his baseline and still progressing, I'm confident he'll be 100% by tonight. Thank you so much, Dr. Luegers and the VCA team!
