We brought our 5-month-old Pomeranian in on a Saturday evening with a broken leg. After five minutes in an empty waiting room, we were greeted by a young woman who took our information without once looking at our puppy -- who was visibly frightened and in pain. Her manner was so detached that I started to wonder whether they even accepted emergency visits, so I asked. After a few long pauses, she said they did. She told us it would be a while before a doctor could see him. I asked how long and never got an answer. A second staff member came in, sat down at a computer, and didn't acknowledge us either. We left. I told them we were going elsewhere because we didn't feel welcome, and the response was a flat "Have a nice night." On paper, nobody did anything wrong -- and I want to be fair about that. But if you love animals, you can tell very quickly when you're standing in front of someone who doesn't. We went to VEG in Boulder instead, where they greeted us with warmth, and more importantly greeted our puppy and showed him affection while they got to work. I don't fault the woman at the front desk. This reads as a hiring and training problem, which falls to ownership and management. If you run a clinic for animals, basic compassion should be a minimum qualification for every person in the building. The vibe was off, and I wouldn't have trusted our puppy in their hands. read more

I wanted to add to my previous review, that you mustn't listen to the large amount of 1 stars, that overshadow the amount of five stars. We had to bring our sweet girl in again today for an injury, it was very last minute, an emergency, and I was very frazzled, but they took care of her SO well. They even cut our little hearts on her casts like oh my gosh. They were quick to see us, especially since I called and gave them only a 10 minute heads up that we were coming. As far as financials go, they give a very detailed estimate, with a range of what it could cost. Everything is broken down in great detail, and I know they try to cut costs for us, without it affecting our girls health. I'm VERY pleased and thankful for the crew here, everyone I've met (the technicians and the doctors) have genuinely been the sweetest, and I love seeing how gentle they are with my little baby. read more

I would highly recommend you find ANY other vet or Animal Hospital than to come here. Arrowhead cares more about your money than they do about your pet. I had an experience where I had an elderly cat with a thyroid problem, they overdosed him by four times the recommended dosage for my cats age, size, and illness. I figured. "Hey, everybody makes mistakes I'll give them a chance to make it right" After weaning my animal from the medication and monitoring him for toxicity for over two months. He finally was back down to where he needed a normal dosage of medication again. They not only called in the exact same overdosed prescription but they did it for four months in a row! I finally took my pet somewhere else. Had I not been paying attention everyyime I picked up the prescription, my cat would've died. After establishing care for my pets at a new vet, my dog was diagnosed with kidney issues. I knew that they sold prescription dog food and so I went by with a prescription from my current doctor looking to see if I could pick up some medicated food before I moved. I could wait for the mail prescription due to an out of state move. They refused to sell it to me because "they did not diagnose my pet" even though I had a valid prescription in hand and that they were recommended by my vet (my current vet does business with them since they are an animal hospital and recommended that I go by and pick up some medicated food for the trip. Arrowhead cares more about the money related to diagnosing your pet than they do getting an animal a medicated food. I absolutely will never go back and will never recommend them. Our cat, Cheddar, was in need of a dental cleaning and a single tooth extraction. We were referred to Arrowhead Animal Hospital because our usual vet paused surgeries due to staffing constraints. I'm so happy we trusted our vet's recommendation. Arrowhead's staff was friendly and communicative during our initial visit/consultation and throughout the actual surgical and cleaning appointment. Dr. Sullivan and the vet tech, Gia, made Cheddar and me feel very comfortable during both appointments. They had a wealth of knowledge to share and Cheddar warmed up very quickly due to their gentle and caring nature. In addition, the original quote aligned with the final price which felt very fair. I'm happy to know Arrowhead takes such great care of their animal patients. They will definitely be an option for all of our animals moving forward, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of an animal hospital/veterinarian! read more

I have no been able to follow up from my post on Nov. 18, 2025 because of family troubles besides the death of or dog Thorin. But we took him to another Vet in Ft. Collins that stated the Ciprofloxacin medication is still under question and should not have been used. They stated he should have been given a stronger medication for is UTI. Our dog was on this medication for about six days and he got worse. We took him to the other Vet and they tried but our dog was to far because of the negligence of this Vet! It is sad that Thorin was cremated and this Vet at Arrowhead was more concerned with removing his balls instead of getting him better. If you want a dead dog when they are sick take him here. I'm updating my review after a couple years because honestly, I can't say enough good things about this clinic. I have fostered animals for years and have 5 of my own, so I've been to so many veterinary clinics for a large variety of reasons, and based on the dozens of clinics I've been to, I really don't think it can get any better than Arrowhead. I've had exclusively stellar experiences here! I've been fortunate to see Dr. Sullivan several times now and while everyone here is amazing, she really is above and beyond exceptional. She is my #1 choice! But regardless of what veterinarian ends up being available, I know my babies are in great hands. We take our two dogs, three cats, and a revolving door of foster puppies/kittens here and they treat everyone with so much compassion and love! They're incredibly cost effective (I mean, vet care is horribly expensive as it is, but they have some of the most competitive rates) and I feel like they do a wonderful job explaining what my animals absolutely need to have vs what's nice to have so I can make an educated decision on treatment plans. My pup had a severe ear infection. I called, day off, for an emergency visit and they were able to get me in. When I got there, the staff were amazing. Courteous and nice. Only waited less than 15 mins before we were seen. The vet tech was so nice to my pup and the doctor was nice as well. They listened to me and took great notes. They were so well organized and gave me estimates for everything. A couple days later they even texted me to check up on my pup and make sure he was doing okay. That's what a good vet goes! Amazing place. Can't thank them enough for their service and care. Their prices are also reasonable and they are transparent. I would recommend this place to everyone who has a pup. read more

I've had two negative experiences within the last couple of months. - First one I had to put one of my dogs down and was having a difficult time. While going through the process in one of the rooms, I just heard employees in the back cracking up and laughing very hard. I'll never forget that. - Second experience I had I had another appointment for my other dog. While waiting to get called into room, someone came in without an appointment because their dog's leg was hurting... Realizing and accepting the inevitable when losing a beloved family pet can be wrenching and painful. We arrived at Arrowhead on a Friday night with our dog, who was obviously very ill but we didn't know the reason. Our dog was subsequently diagnosed by Dr. Higgins, who explained thoroughly the diagnosis and prognosis. She stayed past her shift to care for our dog. Every one of her suggested treatments was explained to us, as well as the cost of each test. I had a kitten, named who is named pixel, from a heinlein book, who vanished on a Saturday. I typically knew where he was at all times, and would wake up with him on the bed. I searched for him all sunday, sweeping the house probably ten times looking into every nook and closet, even outside to see if he somehow got out. Found him halfway under my bed. He was so weak that he couldn't walk three steps. Rushed him to anyplace near that was open on a sunday and that place was arrowhead. That lucky choice saved pixel's life. No exaggeration. After they stabilized him, he spent three nights at a 24/7 animal hospital. I ended up spending more on him than I've ever spent on an animal, 2K+ in all, including the hospital. I ran over the charges for the bill and every one of them made sense and all were reasonable, possibly even on the low side. The hospital they recommended was similar: a lot of care, with reasonable charges. It was a tough decision. I rationalized it by considering the lifetime cost of cat food, etc., and the fact that as a rescue siamese, he had some really unique characteristics -- he's an orange-tabby point siamese? Instead of a wiry tail, his is big and fluffy. His purrs can wake the neighborhood. To arrowhead: thank you for saving his life. He's 100% recovered and I smile every time he's charging up and down a hallway wreaking havoc. read more

I really wanted to like this vet and I chose this provider for my cat Sophie based on the number of 5 star reviews. I've been debating on posting this review because I know many love and trust this vet, but I had a very bad experience during a tooth cleaning yesterday. I consider my cat to be my baby and I'm willing to go the extra mile to make sure she lives a long and healthy life. In September I took Sophie for an annual exam and spoke with a male vet. He advised me that she had some gum/tooth irritation that appeared to be gingivitis. He explained that a dental cleaning was advised and during the cleaning the vet could determine the extent of the irritation. He let me know it was unlikely she would need a tooth extraction based on her age and the current exam. I booked a cleaning in October thinking it was just a routine procedure. When I dropped off Sophie at 7:15am, a vet tech came out to the car and asked me to sign papers. She appeared to be in a rush and I signed where she said. I left many areas of the paperwork blank per her instructions. The vet tech explained they may need to surgically remove a tooth. Based on the September exam, I wasn't concerned that would happen. However, I specially asked the tech to call me if surgery needed to happen. She assured me they would. I listed 2 phone numbers on the paperwork and had my phone by my side all day waiting on any updates. I was nervous wreck all day. Finally, around 3pm (8hr later....no updates) I called. The receptionist let me know she was recovering from surgery. I was very surprised to hear that she had underwent surgery when I requested communication if surgery was needed. Likely sensing my disappointment in the lack of communication, a female vet called to follow up. She apologized and relayed they had been busy with emergency appointments. She explained extensive tooth decay resulting in the decision to remove the tooth. The vet said she thought she spoke with me and we were on the same page as far as Sophie needing oral surgery....I let her know I spoke with a male vet at the September appointment. I had never spoken with her about this procedure. She apologized again and let me know that normally the office does call ahead of surgical procedures to let owners know what to expect. (Okay....Was she mixing me up with another client? Was my cat not important enough to call?) At this point I'm stressed and agitated at the lack of communication. I'm able to pick her up at 4:30pm and the vet tech informed me my cat would need pain medication which was a liquid syringe dispensed into her mouth after a meal. That night was to be the first dose. I read the medication instructions carefully and proceeded to give her the dose. What I didn't understand was that there was a clear plastic cap on the end of the syringe to keep the liquid from coming out. This was not mentioned in the medication instructions or written on the medication bottle. I've never given my pet a syringe of medication before and I assumed the syringe had self-sealed or something. While dispensing the liquid into her mouth, I noticed there was some resistance and I heard something pop. Only then it occurred to me there was likely a cap on the end of the syringe. We looked on the floor for the cap and couldn't find it. I can only assume my cat swallowed the endcap while my partner held her to give her the medication. I felt extremely guilty for causing this to happen but there wasn't anything warning me to remove the cap. I called emergency after hours number and they told me it was likely small enough she would pass it but to watch for signs of vomiting and low appetite. I woke up in the middle of the night to make sure she wasn't vomiting. Had there been more communication on yesterday's procedure and clear medication instructions, I would not be upset and writing this review. My goal in writing this review is that hopefully the office can improve communication and be more clear about aftercare instructions. read more

I originally had an appointment with a different vet and decided to cancel with them Bc I wasn't comfortable bringing my 2lb puppy into a vet without me. Due to their specific "Covid Policy" they required curbside check in. So I scheduled with Arrowhead from a FB Ad and decided to give them a try. I scheduled this Appt a couple weeks in advanced after verifying over the phone with their office staff that an owner could come in but only one due to covid. No worries! I just wanted to be present. Day of Appt. When arriving we checked in and I asked if we were still able to come in with pet. She said yes, in front of my husband. Who heard her clearly. Then walks back to the car after I start getting out. "Oh sorry, due to construction we are unable to allow the owners in at this time." Yeah, I won't be coming back. What a joke! read more

Today I witnessed a horrible event in front of this vet while I was waiting . An elderly man walks up with a really sick small dog that could barely walk. He picked up the dog and sat in the shade with it. The dog was panting so hard and its belly was bloated. He was waiting to see the vet. The dog died on the front lawn. I was the only one there and ran in for help. They knew that this dog was very sick because they were draining fluid from its belly 3 times before. They should have been ready for that animal instead it died on the front lawn will the vets techs stocked food and chit chatted inside. I will never go back!! read more

If you care about your animals, do not take them to this unethical establishment. I don't usually leave negative reviews as I understand we're all human and can't be perfect, but I do not want anyone to go through the horror I did today. Our 80lb mix breed baby got spayed on Friday at our regular vet (who is closed on Sunday). This morning we woke up and her incision had partially opened. Being the overly cautious dog parents we are, we wanted to get her seen. It wasn't dripping blood or oozing and didn't look infected, but was definitely open. They said it could be up to a 2 hour wait, which was entirely ok with us as they were the only vet open today within 30 minutes. We get there and are actually seen pretty quickly. The vet nurse looked at the incision and stated that it truly didn't look too bad. The Dr took her into the back to look at the incision and "clean" it (which I don't know why she couldn't do in the room with us), immediately I hear my baby whining in distress (i have never heard such terrible cries from her) and it did not stop for about 3 minutes. They then come racing into the room and she is terrified, truly terrified. I was crying and the Dr asked what was wrong and I told her I heard her crying in there. The Dr said yeah, she didn't want to lay down so we weren't really able to clean it but did a little bit and she also peed herself so here is a wet towel to clean her tail. And LEFT. Our dog is so stressed that she is shedding tufts of hair. I'm cleaning her tail and take a look at her incision and it's almost entirely open now and DRIPPING blood and oozing. The nurse comes back in for a debriefing and we state that the incision is much worse than it was before. She says "I know, it looks much worse now. It's because we couldn't get her to lay down". And tells us to use hot compress and give her medication... why in the world would a vet wrestle with a dog with an open incision to the point that it breaks open more instead of trying to clean it where she could be comfortable(standing up - and yes, she is a large dog where you can easily access the wound with her standing up), or keep her in the room with her parents to get her to lay down!? They literally gave us our dog in worse condition than we brought her in and STILL CHARGED US for an exam and "clip and clean". And they saw her for maybe and entirety of 5 minutes. I'm extremely upset at this facility. The PRIMARY focus of a vet should be the care and well being of our animals, but they do not have this here. read more

I had a positive experience for my dog's dental cleaning. Dr. Cordell and staff were very nice and helpful. They addressed all my questions and concerns prior his appointment. They made sure I was comfortable knowing my baby was in good hands as it was going to be his first dental. The facility is always clean and organized. Boarding services and regular visits are excellent as well. I have been bringing my baby boy since 2017 and I can see they really do care about his health which I appreciate a lot. On 11/24/21, the day before Thanksgiving, our dog was having problems and needed to see a vet ASAP. We called around for two hours and could not get anyone to see her. We finally got a recommendation to call Arrowhead Animal Hospital and had her seen in 30 minutes. The staff was very caring and helpful and Dr Dawsey examined her, gave us meds and was very thorough with diagnosis. I would highly recommend them to help with your pet's needs . read more

I wish I could put 0 star review for this vet. They are absolutely horrible. The front desk people are so rude and do not try at all to be friendly. They overcharge for everything and way to expensive for what care they give. I brought in my hurt dog carrying her in with my mom and which this big dog in my arms they looked at me and said "give me one minute" instead of giving us a place to be when we called in about this being an emergency. They couldn't help because it was not there speciality which is fine so we left to go to CSU. They called us complaining how we forgot to pay and we're very very rude about it when we were running out injured dog to get her help because she was bleeding and had a feeding tube. They sent the invoice and it was 85 dollars for them to wrap her wound. Are you serious? For not helping and sending us to somewhere else they charge us an insane amount when they shouldn't even have charged us at all. Never have appointments ready and will make you pay extra for an emergency visit. I took my cat here as well and they overcharged me. VERY let down by this clinic. I have taken all 3 of my animals there for the past 6 years. Understandably during the lockdowns we couldn't go in with our pets, but everyone, everywhere has opened up, except many vet clinics apparently. I called and booked an appointment three weeks ago, I thought they heard my concerns. They told me that although they are keeping in-person to a minimal due to construction, if I came in on a Saturday I could have my cat and dog seen with me in the room at the same time. They ASSURED me that I would be allowed in the room with my cat and dog (and obviously I'd be wearing a mask, an not come in if I was sick... normal protocol) ....and when I showed up today (7/3/21) they made me wait in the car for 20 minutes past the time of the appointment, only for an argumentative vet tech to come out and inform and blame me for the misunderstanding ("Well did you speak to a manager?" Umm, I spoke to the person booking, who has surely gotten this request before... Next Door is full of these stories), that if I insisted on coming in, I was going to be in an entirely different room than my pets while the Vet did the entire exam away from me. I said I didn't understand, as I had called and arranged this appt and it had been approved for me to be in the room. The tech said it wasn't possible, "They need to allow for socially distancing for the doctor". So basically I wasted my entire morning only to have to drive away because I'm not playing this game anymore. These Vets are more "at risk" than a family practitioner doctor? No. They need to realize people are OVER this unnecessary dance. Either masks work, social distancing works, vaccines work... or they don't. Sorry but what "doctor" hasn't figured this out yet? Their construction is just another excuse. It's an excuse to do a shoddy job, away from caretakers' concerned and watchful eyes. We are saddened, but we will be finding a new vet to go to. I'll be taking my fur babies somewhere that I can be with them to keep them from being overly stressed. Thankfully, Yelp and Next Door are ripe with excellent recommendations. read more

Will not renew My 11 year old rottis basic medication without having to pay for another visit. She's got arthritis, etc. No reason to have my dog have another visit for tramadol and gabapenton. This is just to get paid for another office visit. So if you're looking for a longterm place fir your doggy that's not gonna attempt to nickel and dime the crap out of you, I wouldn't suggest this place. Furthermore, they also pushed the most expensive meds on her they had. I obviously had to pay 7$ a pill .. for something I didn't ask for and didn't work. Horrible experience. They took an xray and told us that my dog has a minor ACL tear and she should be able to just take it easy for a few weeks. We called multiple times and went back 2 week later and they wanted to put her under again to take another xray. Then schedule a surgery and put her under for a 3rd time. Something did not seem right with the ask so we went to the Broomfield Vet and asked that they get the 1st Xray from Arrowhead. The Broomfield Vet told us that he could see that her achilles tendon had a tear and that she needed surgery ASAP because it has been a few weeks. He also said he could tell by the way she walked. Now the surgeon is worried that because delay and misdiagnosis the surgery may not take and we will need to do a bone fusion. We were quoted $400 for a procedure over the phone. We went in for the procedure and they were already quoting $600, and before the surgery they we're quoting nearly $900. More than double the original quote with nothing extra found to validate it. We called for clarification and the very rude front desk person offered very little to clarify and said the dog was in surgery and that the vets couldn't talk because they were operating. She then called back 15 minutes later and told me she had taken it upon herself to stop the surgery, and if we didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars more than we was quoted then we could come pick my dog up.. so we did. After giving my dog an "annual physical" along with 3 annual vaccines last year, my 12 yr old, dog got so sick, I thought she was going to die. She was constantly throwing up, had a bad case of diarrhea and bad anxiety for 10 days. Yesterday, I went to order more pain pills through Vet Source, which Ive been doing for many years, and Arrowhead called me to tell me that they would not approve my order until I brought my dog in for another "annual physical", which included another round of the 3 vaccines that made her sick last year. These people pretend to care about your pets when in reality they only want your money. Once this people took over the original Arrowhead AH, they immediately jacked up their rates. After 12 years with AAH , Im in the process of finding a new vet. I do NOT recommend these money sucking leaches. If there was less than a 1 star, I would give it to them. read more

Took our dog in for teeth cleaning. They told he would be first and we dropped him off at 7 am. They did nothing with him till about 2pm in the afternoon. He got complete stressed by being in a cage 7 hours. He was the last dog to be let go from the office that day. This has happened twice now and both time the same reason both times was we had an emergency. We told them that we did not want him just sitting around waiting to be taken care of for hours but they did not listen to that.
