Ditto to the other comments on the nasty cigarette smell that met me at the door & how I walked into the office??? Went to ask about geometric designs which are current & in lots of model homes. She just looked at me & proceeded to tell me all her rolls were designer & $60/ roll as if she couldn't be bothered & tried to talk he out of looking. They had to move things to get the books out.. at that point the stench was more than I could take & I told her never mind & quickly exited.. it was quite the (negative) experience!!! Not sure how they stay open! If I could have given it no stars I would have! Wallpaper is making a comeback & there aren't many places that sell it so they could be doing well if they even tried...very disappointing! read more

My fiance and I were looking for some wallpaper to buy that we could use as part of a photo station at our wedding reception. We were going to make a fake wall with frames on it for people to pose behind. We first visited another place that sold paint and had books of wallpaper samples in store. Since that place only sold wallpaper by the double roll (and we only needed a small portion of wallpaper) we decided to see if there was another place in town that sold wallpaper in smaller quantities and perhaps had entire rolls for sale in the store so that we could forget about paying extra for shipping. We drove over to the Wallpaper Place on a Saturday and saw the sign on the door that said their hours were Mon-Fri from 10-4. Well that meant the only way we were going to be able to check out their inventory would be if I went there on a lunch break in the middle of the week as I am the only one who works close enough to the shop to do this. I came back on a Wednesday during lunch and immediately upon opening the door, I wondering if I was in the right place. I asked it I had used the right door and a lady told me yes. I had entered into what looked like an office or store room. No big deal. What I was really taken by was the stench that I was "welcomed" by. There were cigarette butts in an ashtray right near the entrance/the middle of the wallpaper book room. (It's a small room). So there was no way to escape the smell. I just knew that the smell was going to be stuck in my hair until I took a shower again. Anyhow, I explained what I was looking for. They told me that they did not sell any wallpaper in store. All product could be ordered out of sample books. Ok, that's fine. I at least wanted to try that route. I told the two ladies that I was looking for an Asian themed paper or a Damask pattern. I also told them the colors I was looking for. One of the colors was purple. The older lady told me she didn't think they sold any purple wallpaper. I thought that was weird, but I said that I was open to mint and gold as well and if they didn't have any Asian-themed prints that worked, I was sure they would have a damask that could work. I had done research, and damask is quite the popular pattern. I was very open minded. The other lady tried to get me to look for a solid colored paper. If I had wanted a solid, I could have easily just painted my photo station a solid color. Anyhow, it seemed like whatever I said to this older lady, she would say something combative or something to negate what I had just said. The younger woman was trying to be helpful at least. I took my phone out when I found a pattern that I liked. I told her I was going to take a photo of it to send to my fiance. He wanted to give his input before we made a final decision on the purchase. The younger woman told me that photos would be fine. After I took the first photo, the older woman said, "we do not allow any photos to be taken in our shop." I then told her that the other woman had allowed it, and that lady apologized. Then the older woman repeated herself. My final response was, "well if I can't take a photo, then I will not be able to make a decision." The older lady didn't seem to care. I promptly thanked the younger woman and left the store. It was a windy day and I didn't mind at all that the wind ended up slamming the door behind me. I had just wasted my lunch break. I stopped by here to buy some wallpaper. I had called ahead and they told me they had what I was looking for. I walked in and the place stank of cigarettes. There were empty packs of cigarettes and dirty ashtrays everywhere. The woman working there was not helpful at all. She said they might have it but didn't know because some books were discontinued but she didn't know which ones. What? This place was nasty. It was like stepping into a bad time warp to the 80's.
