Aside from the insane line that waits outside to get in, this is a great restaurant. When mentor burger was in this location, it was always empty. Wally waffle definitely fills a need in highland square. The food was fast, service was great and it was a great experience. We loved this place! This morning was our first time and it was great. My husband had a pecan waffle and ham, i had the weekday special (2 sausage, 2 eggs, hash browns -loaded!, toast) and our 3 and 4 year olds shared 2 strawberry pancakes. All of it was great. The pancakes were as big as a dinner plate and the girls could have split one! My special was soooo filling and smothered hash browns are the way to go! The waffle was crispy and fluffy at the same time. Our total was under 25$ and we were all stuffed! (and our waitress was nice and just attentive enough) We will return and try lunch next time. I love that it's 2.3 minutes from the zoo (we have a family pass) so this may become a habit we can walk off after being stuffed!!! read more

Good food. I typically do not dine at breakfast Establishments that don't serve mimosas but while in Akron during a holiday weekend my choices were very limited. This is a cute place, I believe a chain, with pretty good food. I had the waffle with honey butter and fresh sliced strawberries. The waffle was light and airy with a crisp exterior, not doughy and chewy like some Belgium waffles. The strawberries were fresh and plentiful, the Honey butter is butter whipped with honey, very nice topping for my waffle. The bacon was thick and crispy, almost taste like it was deep fried :) My honey had an omelette filled with peppers, onions chorizo and cheese, a very good combination. Unfortunately, the grits need work, good texture but no flavor what so ever. Freshly brewed iced tea was good but watered down. Service was good, even though we waited a long time for a table due to the staff being in the back chit chatting. read more

Have been going to WW for years. New location offers the people waiting for a table more eye candy with neighboring shops and Market St traffic. Less seating than the old location however it "feels" cleaner and fresh. More window seating is bonus. Wait staff solid and so is the food. Chicken supreme is excellent. marinated and grilled chick breast instead of bacon or sausage as protein. Waffle variety satisfies every craving. Personally, I go with the chicken and waffle! Went on a Saturday morning. The wait was about 20 minutes during the prime part of breakfast. The staff was great, the restaurant was clean and open. The food was excellent. I had the Waffler which was basically egg and sausage between waffles. It was really good and the price was only $8. Highly recommended. read more

You can find many better brekky spots in Akron than Wally Waffle. This place is relatively cheap, but the food is bland, boring...Nothing special. The pancakes are like card board. Good thing for Wally, the waffles aren't half bad. Service isn't great, but it isn't horrible. I'm quite certain they give me cream in my coffee when I request fat free milk. I was attracted by the chicken and waffles on their menu, but ended up having a simple two stack of pancakes that were huge, took up the entire plate and they were perfect. I definitely will be back to sample more of their menu. read more

I LOVE Wally Waffle. I definitely associate it with my childhood... it was always a special day when we got to go to Wally Waffle back when it was more downtown. Really only every get their waffles. My mom always says they have one of the best burgers she's every had. It's a fun place. Be prepared to wait on the weekends though, like any other good breakfast place. My only REQUEST would be that they bring back being able to call ahead to put your name on the list, they're waiting room is very tiny- not good for claustrophobia! read more

I am so disappointed. Years ago, I worked at Akron Children's Hospital and there was a Wally Waffle right next to our building and we ordered lunch from there a lot and loved it. Fast forward to Friday, 10/26/18, when I have just started working at my new place of employment and (on my recommendation) the department ordered Wally Waffle from a delivery service, Door Dash. I ordered the Wally's Salad, which I used to love, as it was a large salad with homemade croutons, a hard-boiled egg, a quartered tomato, black olives, pieces of sliced deli ham and large pieces of crispy bacon, along with the usual lettuce. With this you also got 4 triangles of pita bread. Well, the salad I got this time was a very pale imitation of its predecessor. There were no croutons at all, tiny diced-up pieces of tomato in place of the quartered tomato, regular bacon bits like you get in a jar from the grocery store, cubed pieces of processed ham, some black olives, a hard boiled egg that no one had even bothered to slice and no bread to eat with it at all! It was about half the size it used to be and almost $9! Another woman got the chicken tender waffle and she said the waffle was soggy and I don't believe the other 2 people were exactly thrilled with what they got either. I've been to the WW on Rt 91 a couple times since a friend pointed it out to me. Excellent food and service. I didn't know they served chicken. The place is quite small, though and busy when I've eaten there. So keep that in mind. Too bad I cannot locate a web site for them to learn their hours. I'm happy to report that since moving from their old location on Exchange this location has done an almost 180 in terms of running the restaurant. Gone are the days of servers who can't handle a lunch rush or all but ignore their tables when its slow, and the kitchen seems to have gotten their act together as well. That said, it can still be a pain to get a table - especially on the weekends - and the wait staff could still use some improvement but overall its a great place for breakfast/lunch. read more

Wally Waffles is a fairly good breakfast place. The food is well above average and the portions are far from lacking. I have been here about 5-6 times and yet to be disappointed in a meal I've received. Big plus: they have chicken and waffles, which is always fun for breakfast. The downsides: there is always a wait to get in on the weekends, minimum 25-30 minutes (though you can call ahead to get your name on the wait list, so that helps a lot!). Though the wait staff is very friendly and helpful, they seem a little scattered and stressed, making the service a bit iffy. Not terrible, but enough to mention. Overall, I would recommend this place for breakfast on a lazy Sat/Sun if you don't have a time crunch! read more

The food is awesome! I love coming here with my friends and chatting and eating all the good food. My favorite is definitely the Patriot. I would give 5 stars but the service isn't great. I've never had good service here, it's usually just okay. Last time I was there though, the server was horrible and she was rude. I couldn't believe it being that I'm also in the restaurant industry. The PERFECT hangover spot, to meet your friends and gossip about the night before. So much to choose from that nobody can really complain. There are some good light options, but if you've had a rough night- you NEED the chocolate chip pancakes with cream. Add some black coffee to the mix and you'll feel so much better! Really friendly service, and the servers are really attentive. There can be a little bit of wait time on occasion, and parking can be a mess, but I have a very special place in my heart for Wally Waffle. read more
