I was really hoping this would be one of those hidden gems of a diner, but unfortunately it wasn't. Let's just say it wasn't an enchanting come-again experience. I ordered the steak (medium), eggs and hashbrowns. It came out fast, but a little too fast. The steak was more rare to medium rare and bled into the eggs and potatoes. Yuck. I had to flag down the server but she took it back and returned a few minutes later with the steak redone. Now it was too done. The potatoes were okay, but neither the eggs or the steak were seasoned at all. Since this was a pricey breakfast ($14) that I basically couldn't eat and I did t want to waste the food, I took it home in a box to make stew out of. A disappointing visit, but since I was taught to say something nice or not say anything, I will say their coffee was good. Maybe they were just having an off day, but since it wasn't that busy and a Sunday, I probably won't return. There are too many other small diners who excel at their food and service. read more

Stumbled across Julian's one Sunday when the breakfast place I intended to go to with an out-of-town guest was surprisingly closed. Boy am I glad we did! What a find. Cute and cozy atmosphere paired with friendly and helpful wait staff and delicious homemade menu items is more than we could have expected just stumbling upon a place. I had the biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs which were the fluffiest eggs I've ever had at a restaurant. The homemade sausage gravy was perfectly light and flavorful and the biscuit..OH the biscuit! I am so sick of going to restaurants on Sundays for breakfast only to find the biscuits (they're my favorite thing) taste like they've probably been made the night before and have been reheated. Not this biscuit! Clearly fresh and fluffy and just perfect. My girlfriend got a croissant sandwich and let me tell you, that croissant was the most delicious croissant I've ever tried. The decor could use updating but I was not there for the decor. I am VERY fussy with my eggs. 99% of the time I send them back to be cooked again. I like my eggs soft but not runny. I ordered Biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were PERFECT -- soft but not runny. The bacon crisp but not hard and the sausage gravy was like grandma made. We we're at a Taekwondo tournament near by and wanted something family friendly after. That's when we found this little gem. The service was excellent and the food was really good. My daughter had an adorable Mickey pancake that she devoured my wife's eggs and home fries where spot on and my omelette was large and very fluffy. Whenever we have a reasonable choice between eating local vs a chain, I always try to go with the local establishment. We were meeting a couple family members for breakfast and they suggested we meet at Julian's. The place is located right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The menu is typical of a greasy spoon breakfast spot. I ordered the special - eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. I also ordered a hot chocolate to drink. The price was very reasonable. The portions were generous and the hot chocolate was triple stacked with whipped cream. I wish I had taken a photo but it was about four inches tall with a drizzle of chocolate sauce. It was unexpected but very appreciated. On my next visit I will be sure to post a few pics. read more

The staff and services here was great. Me and girlfriend ordered waffles and biscuit sausage gravy. Waffles was perfect, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. Actually, four and one-half stars! My husband and I have been here several times for breakfast, even though we live in West Akron. The food is good, inexpensive, and there's plenty of it. The wait people are very nice, and the restaurant is neat and clean. I was especially surprised at how clean the ladies' room is--I've seen much dirtier ones in fancier restaurants. This is probably one of the best meals I've had in the Akron area. A true local gem, you can really tell the time and effort that is put into the food. The highlight was definitely the tomato sandwich. If it's on the menu you need to order it. The sandwich is so simple but executed perfectly. The owner apparently grows the tomatoes himself. They were some of the sweetest, juiciest tomatoes I've ever had. And I don't really even like tomatoes. They breakfast items we also ordered were amazing as well. I wasnt nearly as impress as others but that may be do to the time we arrived, the service was ok-ish but the waitress seemed a bit frazzled leaving us to have to wait a considerable amount time for our beverages and food...i was never offered anything beyond the breakfast menu. ..although they have others offerings . I know this because halfway into my meal i saw another customer offered a full menu. . the food tasted ok pancakes were buttery. .the bacon was crisp. ..my hubby ordered french toast and the slicers were pretty small ...and apparently someone had taken half of his pee for another customer so he had to wait to receive the other 2 pieces. My mother and I came in on a Saturday afternoon suggested by my cousin. This is a divey little greasy spoon spot. There was a very mixed crowd of both older and younger people from all ethnicities. Our Reubens came out warm with a pickle and chips. The corned beef was lean and juicy and the bread was buttery and toasty....really good...Reuben fix FULFILLED!! Money! The mozzarella sticks were crispy and not battered. My only gripe was paying 2.75 for a 4 oz cup of tomato juice...I couldve "bought a V8" A whole container lol.
