I went in today and told her what I wanted and she explained to me step by step the best way to do it (I was going from really dark to really light). She is the type of hair stylist that really goes the extra mile, and listens to her clients! And I appreciate it so much. She's professional, friendly, funny and basically an artist when she's doing your hair. Bottom line is this: I've been to MANY salons and I can really say she's the best. I now recommend her for my friends and family and they all come back to me thanking me for doing so! My sister got a spray tan done by her, hair extensions, even eyelash extensions! Wallys Hair Salon is a great addition to the Oak View / Ojai area! Waled, the owner, has been cutting my hair for the past 4 years at a popular hair salon in downtown Ventura. He got such a large following of clients that he decided to open his own hair salon! He's a master of his craft with over 25 years of experience as a stylist. Don't worry guys, he's also got barber skills. So if you need a tight fade or cleaner cut with clippers, he's got you covered. And his prices are super reasonable, so this is a great place to bring the kids for a quick haircut. Wally's Hair Salon is spacious, airy and comfortable. It's super clean and the waiting area up front has a nice Keurig coffee machine and some delicious sweet treats while you wait. Best of all, Waled--who also goes by Wally--is the sweetest, friendliest guy you'll ever meet! He takes so much pride in his new salon and takes his profession seriously. He's gifted, skilled and makes you feel right at home. Personally, I have found that each time I get my hair cut by Wally, he does a better job each time! Wally is one of a kind, Amazing and Awesome and does an excellent cut and style. I have special needs for my hair due to a traumatic event that happened when I was a very young child and has been debilitating for many years. I also have special needs as I have Cerebal Palsy and hearing loss as well as speech impairment. My Mom has gone to Wally and has taken my Cousin , her Niece to Wally as well. He treats you with the up most respect and listens to you like a professional and advices you on what will be best for you. Wally goes above and beyond to make sure you are completely happy and that he understands what his customers are looking for in a salon. Wally is very gentle and caring, he wants only the best for his clients and will go above and beyond to make that happen!! He made me feel Special, Important and above all Beautiful! My daughter had been wanting a haircut for a while, but we were specifically looking for someone who specializes in curly hair. A friend highly recommended Wally, so we decided to give him a try and we are so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, he was warm and welcoming and immediately made us feel comfortable. My daughter was very nervous at first, but Wally took the time to put her at ease. By the end of the appointment, she was relaxed and smiling. He did an amazing job with her hair, and you could truly see the difference in her confidence. It showed all over her face. It was such a wonderful moment to see. Waled just opened up his very own salon in Oak View/Ojai. He has been a hairstylist for many years. He is by far the best person to go to for having your hair dyed. He does my blonde highlights about every 2 months. He is well priced, clean and polite. His shop is very nice! And there's parking which is hard to find over in these areas. Denise is gifted and can look at a person and tell them exactly what's needed to make them look their best. I decided to trust her because my hair had grown really long and she knew I wanted to keep the length. She did some beautiful framing around the face and used product that gave my hair a really high shine. I couldn't be happier. She also taught me how to blow dry properly and how to use teasing and a roller to give my hair some volume because it's very thin. She also had time to shape my brows properly. Not only that she's a great person to have "girl talk" with! I highly recommend her and the staff at Glo West. You Ojai locals are so lucky to have her. Update 7/6/2018: A reviewer below insinuated that I was solicited to write a positive review. This is not true. Businesses ask clients to "yelp" them all the time. My experience at Glo West was positive in 2016 and again on my return visit this past week. I took the time to write the review because I was very happy with how my hair and brows turned out. Kudos to Denise, who used to manage the coifs of the Hollywood set, and knows how to make a person look their best.

Unfortunately, my most recent appointment in September was one of the most upsetting experiences I've ever had with a professional, and I feel it's important to share what happened so others know what to expect. I came in for the same highlight service I've received for years, right before an important weekend of extended family photos. For the first time, something went very wrong: my natural base color-- which has never been touched in eight years-- was visibly lifted. My hair looked washed out, too warm, and completely unlike every result I had ever had from her. I sent photos immediately, and she agreed at first that the highlights didn't lift correctly. She offered to come in on her day off, which I appreciated, but the correction did not fix the problem. Instead, I was told that the issue was because my hair "wasn't clean enough," and she strongly defended her brand-new assistant, even though the only difference between this appointment and every previous one was that the assistant applied the toner. I raised my concerns respectfully, but was met with dismissal, defensiveness, and comments that felt extremely invalidating and gaslighting-- including being told that maybe my emotional life was the reason I didn't like my color. This was particularly hurtful, because what I was seeing in the mirror was very real. She eventually issued a refund, but never apologized for the mistake, never took responsibility, and--most disappointing--never once attempted to fix it or reach back out to make it right. I reached out again with kindness, clarity, and photos, explaining exactly what was still wrong with the color. She never responded. It has now been two months with no follow-up whatsoever. Because of the result, my family photos that weekend were ruined for me. I have spent months feeling unlike myself due to the dramatic change to my natural base color. A highly reputable stylist in a nearby town reviewed my before-and-after photos and confirmed that what happened was not my fault, that the base was clearly lifted, and that the way the situation was handled was unprofessional and disappointing--especially given my eight-year loyalty. Thankfully, this new stylist is now helping me correct the damage over a series of appointments to return my hair to the natural, flattering color I used to have. It genuinely saddens me to write this review. I valued the years of trust I had here and I had hoped for accountability, a sincere apology, or even a simple willingness to help me correct the issue. None of that happened. I'm sharing this so others know that if something goes wrong, you may not receive the honesty, care, or responsibility you would expect from a professional. My hope is that no other long-term client has to experience the same level of dismissal or emotional distress I went through. If the owner ever chooses to reach out and sincerely make this right, I would be glad to acknowledge that. But as of today, two months later, that has still not happened-- and that is the most disappointing part of all.
