15$ for toddler cut. Of course this is standard price here in Ventura but pricy compared to OC standards. Small but cozy "mom and pop" shop ran by a mom and her daughter! It was our first cut and they were accommodating. I called and was able to get an appt the very next day. Came 10 mins early and they were ready for us. The cut took a total of 15 mins prob which is great since it was nap time. The cut is just a tad bit shorter in the bang area than I had hoped for and a tiny bit crooked but it's ok since hair grows so fast and I rather have it shorter now and will grow out in a few weeks. I get it's tough with a toddler since they won't sit still or look up when you need them to. The cut is still cute. Toys are a bit older and could prob use a wipe down or an upgrade. Our little guy needed a cut and we were at a lost at where to take him. So glad we found this place because we will be back! They took us in same day for an appointment and we were the only ones in the shop during our visit. My husband was nervous as my little guys does not do well with haircuts. He was sold at the pizza alien lollipop cape! (Adorable!!) They also offered him a drawing pad that can draw&erased! My son did an amazing job at sitting through the hair cut with not a tear. I am so glad I have found The Hair Shack - especially after going to MVP Haircuts where my son got traumatized by an impatient hairstylist there. We've tried taking him to other salons and/or barber shops, but they simply don't have that warmth and friendliness that you can find in spades here. There are little toys to keep the little ones busy and they do wonders in keeping them engaged in conversation. My only gripe is that I didn't find this place sooner. I took my 3.5 year old son for a haircut and I have to tell you, not only is it low key, affordable and absolutely great for little kids THIS WAS THE BEST HAIRCUT HE HAS EVER HAD. I had tried Jack and Jills and although her place was also kid friendly the actual craft of cutting hair was poor in comparison to the Hair Shack. Every hair on my little ones head is sitting just right. Everything is perfectly shaped and blended and right before picture day too! Phew! I'll be coming back to try them for my own hair. Kathy is amazing! We came here after really liking how a friends sons haircut came out. We got our little man his first professional cut at 13 months. Kathy has a big trunk of toys to entertain the babes. She was so sweet, never once showing any sign of irritation with all of his wiggles and hands swatting at the comb and scissors. It's a drive for us but we will definitely be back! Loved her and so did our son. UPDATE: came here for the 2nd time (a min 40min drive one-way) after a traumatizing haircutting experience locally for my son and I. He's now 18mo old and again-Kathy hit it out of the ball park. He looks awesome and didn't cry once-just fussed at the end because he wanted to play with the toy chest. Considering he literally screamed and cried and SHOOK the entire time at the local place-I'd say Kathy is a baby genius. His hair looks great and it wasn't a stressful experience at all. Love Kathy.
