A most egregious sequence of events…read more Agreed upon full day drop off for battery replacement; car did not start up right upon pick up, had faith, and it was dead upon morning. Had to Uber kids to school, call roadside assistance for jump. Was not told until back in person that the reason was THEY NEVER REPLACED THE BATTERY BECAUSE THEY DIDNT SEE IT ON THE PAPERWORK. This was the sole issue that had been discussed for 2 days prior. I'm still pleasant at this point; walk home. Receive call ACCUSING me of not giving them my keys; they strongly believe this because "I gave them the car running". I'm like duh, the battery's dead, that was a convenience TO YOU. At this point, I say "you already didn't render services upon payment in full and now you're telling me you lost my keys, why would I believe you?" I hung up, I'm on my way. On the way on my child's scooter, I get a VM, of course they found the keys. Pete(?) meets me outside, hands me keys, tries to show me "what happened". As I'm already getting in my car, he says "I don't appreciate you hollering at my guy". Well, I don't like the false security of being sent off for paid services not rendered and then getting accused of lying and the possible stress of lost keys on top! Wow! I never even asked for a refund. UNACCEPTABLE.

AAA came to jump my car, and when that didn't solve the problem they towed me here. I didn't know what to expect, but I was so pleased by the kindness and promptness of the team here. I had no appointment and understood I could be without a car for a few days. But within 48 hours my car was working and back to me again. Things that stood out-their team is direct and goes above and beyond for you! They told me everything that I needed to know about my car troubles (ultimately a new battery) and things that I should look into (due for oil change and state inspection). They did all of this work for a reasonable price and I know I'll be coming back here in the future (hopefully with a scheduled appointment and not a breakdown). I was referred to Autometrics from a guy that worked at Advanced Auto Parts who noticed I had a frayed transmission belt when replacing my headlight. Autometrics works only on foreign vehicles and these shops are well-known in the area for doing exceptional work. Both Ray (Pleasant Street) and Teddy (Bath Road) are amazing. Ray is the original owner of the Pleasant St. location and Teddy is his daughter who runs the Bath Rd. location. Both of them know their stuff and are the most personable shop owners I've ever met. My first time going in, Ray took a peek under my hood and was honest about the fact that I could wait a little bit before getting a belt replaced. He also advised me on how to save on labor with other maintenance things I know I needed done down the line. When it was time to do the work, I needed a great deal of work done on my Subaru and was expecting to pay big bucks for it (head gaskets, new tires, timing belt, etc.).. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told the amount for the service! Finally, when I was ready to part ways with the Forester, I took the vehicle I was looking at in to get it looked over at the Pleasant St. location. Ray gave me some free advice that ended up saving me money in the long run. He looked up what my trade-in value of the Subaru would be and the NADA value of the Honda CRV I was looking at and advised me on what would be a good deal for me. Last March I went in for a Maine State Inspection and was told I needed my steering rack replaced…read moreand a rear enforcement bumper. He was quoting $2,500+ for the steering rack and $553+ for the bumper reinforcement. I took my car to three other reputable shops in the Portland area. I was quoted $337 for the bumper reinforcement with OEM part, and the repair man even told my father and I that we could replace it ourselves because my father was able to remove the bumper cover himself. The other shops I went to told me I only needed my inner tie rod replaced including a wheel alignment. I got this repair done for $220 dollars and my car drives great. It is a 2013 Honda CRV with 70,000 miles that has never had issues on the road. The one difference between going to Carter's and going to the other repair shops is that I went ALONE (without my father) to Carter's a as young woman. I remember when I dropped my keys off at Carter's and the man at the desk called me "sweety." Unprofessional and patronizing. Carters is deceitful, greedy, and untrustworthy. Do not come here unless you want to get taken advantage of.
